OKAY SCHOOL
First day was mostly alright, I found out how lunches and advisory work and got a general intro to my classes so I'll walk ya through my day
Waiting for the bell to ring, before school
As soon as I stepped out of the car I was shaking for no reason at all; I hadn't even been that nervous until then. I got inside the student activity center and met up with a lot of my friends in the corner, we hugged and shared our nerves and whatnot. Bell rings, we go to class.
First Period, Pre- AP ELA
I had the teacher before but she had a different last name and I already know I'm going to struggle with that. The fabulous gay science teacher helped her dog be the flower boy at her wedding apparently so that was cool; she locked her phone up with us so we wouldn't suffer alone (how thoughtful compared to most). Assigned seats ready for us and I met an old friend from elementary I hadn't seen in a while. Had a small activity and went over class organization and whatnot. My summer reading isn't quite done. We got the pouches; I for whatever reason kept petting mine like it would somehow free my phone suddenly (had us write our name on both sides):
Second Period, AP World History
You would think this class would be great as an AP class. You would be wrong. I have two friends and one acquaintance, one probably chill guy and several "big personality" popular kids. One dude got nicknamed Trump Guy because Donald Trump is not the definition of a Hierarchy. Nicknames will be given to all; last names are an option and if my nickname is mine then I'm in trouble because it's extremely ironic and will be slightly annoying. Shocked the teacher by the amount I wrote on the get to know you questions (full sentences, I guess he expected a few words) and learned that it's a "you mess up everyone gets it" class so I'm doubly in trouble thanks to the big personalities and their friends. No assigned seats as of yet.
Third Period, Dance II
I have to go to a different building, changing won't be easy. The class is HUGE. My dragon is still unpainted on the wall, and for some reason two ceiling tiles were moved. Coach stood on a wooden table-square thing and fixed one, we all clapped and several screws fell. We did our stretch workout and I was immediately sore; I expect to be more so tomorrow. Changing before going back to the other building will be hard but he gives us time. Assigned squads.
Fourth Period, Chemistry
What you would expect of a grade level class: the classmates are chatty for sure and some also have "big personalities". The teacher scares me; she told us that she expects us to act like adults (which would be fine if it weren't for those "big personalities") and mentioned how she supposedly sarcastically told a sixth grader that if he kept shooting spit balls she would cut off his little hand. The kid ran to the office screaming, and she was apparently called to the office many times that year for similar reasons. She wants an artsy student's help with some room decoration or something, maybe I can help and make sure I'm on good grounds with her. She already moved two kids and warned several more; we will have assigned seats.
Lunch
We mourned the loss of our other friends, the table felt bigger with less people. I went outside for a bit, accidentally knocked my friend's water over when she grabbed my arm and it spilled. We cleaned it; I wanted to show off stuff on my phone before remembering I couldn't.
Fifth Period, Algebra II Honors
We did meditation, I am excited and the teacher seems really nice. His grading/teaching methods sound amazing, meditations will be regular. I have always had math around lunch. Some Juniors, class is chill (likely from meditation, teacher is very chill as well); I learned what Namaste means. No assigned seats as of yet.
Sixth Period, Encore (Advanced Women's Choir)
A fourth of those accepted for auditions were not there (I assume from not attending my school) and I awkwardly snuck myself into the Soprano IIs even though I got in as an Alto I. Talked with the teacher after school; I can be a Soprano II again. I will miss the first event as Encore visiting cousins/seeing a concert, very disappointed. No assigned spots yet but likely to come.
Seventh Period, Student Aide
An eight grade class. Teacher talked to me and apologized if choosing me from a list took me from anything I wanted. I explained there was only one I wanted but it wouldn't have worked, so things were fine. I may lean how to work a photocopier in the future; today I cut papers and had free time (no homework on the first day). Two or so eighth graders recognized me as my sister's sibling and tried talking to me; I ignored them as I was awkward and got stuck attempting to cut too much paper at once. The paper cutter was loud and I was relieved to be done. The teacher will have tasks for me and then I have time for homework/free time without my phone. Phones were unlocked (mine first, a perk of being a student aide) and she had to watch us close the packs before we left. I sit off to the side.
Period Eight, Advisory
Only on Wednesdays, to my knowledge. I have my art teacher, so I will beg her to give me home assignments so I can keep practicing despite not having art.
