How to Draw a SeaWing
So someone requested on a pretty old chapter that I do some tutorials on the headshots of all the different tribes! I asked people to vote on my message board, and the first reply was from starcatnova who said I should draw a SeaWing! So here we go!
Step 1: draw a circle. It doesn't have to be good at all, just relatively close to a circle.
Step 2: draw a rectangle for the snout. This also doesn't have to be perfect.
Step 3: draw an s shape under the rectangle for the neck, and a c shape behind the head. This will be the neck.
Step 4: draw a line through the middle of the circle. This is where the eye will eventually go.
Step 4: lower the opacity of the drawing or get a slightly thinner pen (I switched around a lot so sorry for the confusion).
Step 5: on a different layer (or with a thinner pen if you're doing traditional), smooth the rectangle out a bit. Make sure there's a slight indent where the eye will go.
Step 6: draw three curves for the mouth.
You can change the shape or length or thickness depending on the expression. This dragon is just smiling.
Step 7: draw in a line for the bottom jaw.
Step 8: draw in the eye on the line, and in line with the indent you made earlier, then go over the lines for the neck.
Step 9: draw the chin noodles by drawing a line on the chin and adding a stretched circle at the end.
Step 10: draw a line starting from the tip of the snout, and follow the curve of the head. You can change the part above the eyes to make expressions, like with human eyebrows.
Step 11: continue the line outwards from the back of the head to create the horn.
Step 12: draw a line that follows the curve of the horn to make it more horn-shaped.
Step 13: use the bottom line of the horn as a guide for where the ear is, then draw in a stretched triangle there.
Step 14: mark out a line where the underbelly will go, then add a line down the middle of the neck for the triangle scales for the gills.
Step 15: add in the triangle scales, following the line.
Normally, these triangle scales would stop where they are now, and the rest of the neck and body is covered in tiny circular scales, but it's up to you where you stop them.
Step 16: draw in curved lines along the bottom and top of the triangle scales that connect to the underbelly and back.
Step 17: add in spikes where the fins will go, then connect them with a curved line. The ones on the chest usually end about halfway down the stomach, whereas the ones on the back go all the way to the end of the tail.
Just a sidenote, if you look at the SeaWing base, the fins on the back only start at the back of the head, but many people choose to draw them on top of the head or on the snout. It's up to you how you draw them!
Step 18: add in some face details, like the beak and nostril.
Step 19: draw little circles for the bioluminescent scales on the face. It's up to you where you put them and how many you want.
I'll continue this on the next page!
