NOTE:

okay so idk how many of you remember this but there was a video game a while back that detailed daryl and merle's journey before they reached the quarry camp (since neither of the brothers was canon to the comics the show was based on, they had to make it up later on.) it was called "the walking dead:survival instinct." it is famously awful but the first few chapters are going to be based loosely off its content! I say loosely bc I never got past a certain point in the game bc it was too hard to play, but also bc a good chunk of the game is just crazy survival-based nonsense.

as of the time this is being published I am like 2k words into the first chapter and it's nearly done, I promise.
