"So... I guess we're working together now."

Sara fake smiled at her.

"Yes, we are. And I'm just so excited!"

Ava rolled her eyes.

Sara couldn't help but think it was cute.

She mentally slapped herself.

In what world would that ever happen?

Ava had lost her job.

For reasons unknown (most people figured it was to rub it in, but some people actually noticed the way they looked at each other), Sara had offered a spot on the Waverider.

Ava, knowing she was lucky to even have that, had accepted.

Everyone was really regretting Sara's choice to let her onboard.

Except for Sara.

And Ava.

Sara and Ava sat at a table.

Then Mick walked in.

"Are you two dating yet?" he asked.

Ava and Sara snapped up to stare at him.

"What? Are you still in denial?"

Sara glared at him while Ava scowled.

Mick just laughed.

"Look at each other's faces and tell me I'm wrong."

Ava looked at Sara and Sara looked at Ava.

"You're wrong," they replied in unison.

Mick chuckled and left.

After the event with Mick, Sara slowly started realizing how much of her day was spent with Ava.

Ava would help her pilot the ship, would help her order around everybody else...

Heck, they even ate dinner together.

Maybe she should see if Mick was right...

She owed it to herself.

"Ava... what are we?"

Ava glanced up, confusion in her expression.

"Friends," she replied.

"Are we? I mean, we eat dinner together.We spend the entire day together. I used to hate you, but I offered you a job anyway."

Ava frowned as she thought it over.

"I mean... we're not, right?"

Sara shrugged.

"I guess... I wouldn't mind being more. I'm content to stay in the friend zone, but-"

She was cut off by Ava's lips.

"You'll never be in the friend zone," she whispered.

Sara smiled.
