As Alex watched him walk away, she felt a pang.

She felt like instead of gaining an opportunity, she had lost one. 

She wanted to race down and wrap her arms around him, tell him to never leave, she needed him.

But she didn't.

She needed this chance, and some stupid feelings weren't going to get in the way of that.

Still.

It hurt.

"I just, I wish he didn't have to leave," she whispered against Kara's shirt.

"How do you wear two shirts, both long sleeve, all day long?" Alex asked distractedly.

Kara laughed.

"I don't really feel the heat," she admitted.

Alex frowned.

"That's not fair," she complained, making Kara laugh again.

"Let's put on some music," she said.

She went on her phone and looked up a special moment she had on camera (if you want to know, she uploaded it from the security cameras on the street).

Alex watched the video.

Maybe she had lost something.

He had lost everything for her.

he had revealed his secret identity, the one keeping him alive, in order to protect her.

She felt the tears slid down her cheeks as she watched him battle Kara.

"I need to find him," she said. Kara nodded, and suddenly she was in the air.

Kara was listening below her, hoping to get a trace of him.

Suddenly, she was zooming downwards, and puking, and then there was J'onn, and everything was better.

"You can't leave!"

J'onn smiled.

"I have to. I can tell that you don't want me to, but I need to go back to where I belong. Mars."

Alex couldn't stand it.

So she kissed him.

J'onn kissed back.

When he pulled away, he smiled a sad smile at her.

"I can't do this, Alex. I'm sorry."

And then he was gone, and Alex felt like she had lost everything.
