CHAPTER SIXTEEN
SMASH THE MIRROR, PT. 2
╚═════ ═════╝
TERESA AND HOOK WERE BOTH PANTING SLIGHTLY, THEIR LEGS HURTING FROM ALL THE RUNNING THEY DID, AS THEY CAME TO A STOP OUTSIDE THE MANISON. They bolted toward the iron gate to get inside the large house, when all of a sudden, a smug voice stopped them in their tracks. "Watch your step. The terrain's a little rough around here."
They glared at the Dark One. "Get out of my way, Crocodile," Hook snarled. "I'll die fighting before I let you use that bloody hat on Emma."
Suddenly, Hook is thrown back into the iron fence. The garden house from nearby wrapped around his body rather tightly, keeping him in place. He struggled to get out, fear for Emma swirling around in his blue eyes.
Teresa threw her hands forward, a burst of magic exploding from her palms. She was still quite untrained with her magic, so it was wild and didn't just hit Gold, but a lamp posr as well. The lamp post sparked and the light but burst before it split into two pieces and fell to the ground.
Gold grunted from the pain Teresa caused him before quickly getting up. With a wave of his hand, he conjured up a pair of magical handcuffs that he once tried using on his father. They disappeared from his shop and wrapped around Teresa's wrists, cutting off her supply of magic. He then threw her against the fence, forcing part of the garden house to wrap tightly around her slim waist.
She gasped at the tightness, her hands bound infront of her as she struggled to get out.
"Death can wait," Gold said. "How about before you depart, I'll treat you both to a front-row seat and we can watch her use that hat on herself?"
"No!" Teresa practially growled.
"Oh, and, uh..." He smirked smugly as he moved to stand closer to Hook. "In case you were counting on Emma getting your message" He lifted Emma's phone out of his pocket and smirked. "Don't."
Hook's heart fell and he shook his head, his voice barely a whisper, "No."
"I'm not one for loose ends. Don't worry. You'll get over her...just like you got over Milah." Hurt flashed in both their eyes, confusing Teresa. She wondered who Milah was, but didn't question it as now was not the time. "How many centuries did that take? Oh, it matters not. This might even add a little fuel to your fire. Don't tell me you haven't missed the taste of vengeance."
Teresa stared at him in disbelief. The fact that he would do this to someone who gave him a grandson disgusted her. "She's the mother of your grandson!"
"Don't do this," Hook pleaded, struggling to get his hand free.
"I wish I didn't have to. But I need Miss Swan. Surely you understand that."
➳
Teresa and Hook watched in worry as the lights within the mansion began to flicker. And then suddenly there was a burst of bright light.
"No."
Hook breathed out a laugh. "Well, I'm guessing she didn't go through with it. So sorry. Oh, but I do love the look of loss on your face." He laughed.
"I may not have the saviour, pirate. But I assure you, today won't be a complete loss. I need to fill that hat with power, yes, but that was only part of the equation. And now that Emma is no longer willing to give her magic up, I suppose Teresa's will have to do."
Teresa's eyes widened.
"But I need something else, a secret ingredient, one I didn't know about...until an associate clued me in. A heart."
"Well, if you need my help procuring it, know the only help I give you is with your demise."
Gold smirked. "Oh, you're gonna help me, all right. You see, this spell is gonna finally separate me from the dagger so it no longer holds power over me. But to cast it...I need the heart of someone special, someone who knew me before the dagger...before I was the Dark One." Hook's face fell.
Gold began moving toward Hook, a gleam of revenagnce in his eyes. "Unfortunately, everyone who fits that description is already dead, but one still lives."
"No. No!" Hook struggled to free himself.
"Yes. As luck would have it, dearie, you're my oldest friend." Gold thrust his hand into Hook's chest, pulling his heart out.
Hook cried out in agony. "Ahh!" He breathed heavily. "Get on with it, then. Just do it."
"Oh, no. I promised you we'd have some fun first." Gold smirked, holding Hook's heart up for them to see. "You're gonna do everything I say because you're my puppet now. You're gonna use that hat to take Teresa's magic. And then? Then I'll kill you and I'll complete my spell."
"If you have what you bloody want why make me do it all?" Hook questioned.
"Because then you will tell everyone is was you who took a young girls magic," Gold sneered. "Or would you prefer to take Emma's?"
Teresa stared wide-eyed at Hook. There was no way he would take Emma's from her, but she always knew he wouldn't do that to her. He was a nice man. But if it came down to Emma or her, she knew it would be her to lose their magic right now.
"Times ticking. Choose who or else I will." He waved his hand, freeing Hook from the gate. "Now go fetch that hat. Teresa and I will be waiting patiently for you."
With a wave of his hand, Gold disappeared with Hook's heart and Teresa in a cloud of smoke.
Hook stared at where they had been with a conflicted look plastered on his face.

"Emma! Did you do it?" Snow ran to her daughter and wrapped her in a tight embrace.
"Oh. I didn't, thanks to Elsa."
"I'm so, so glad. Just...please don't change," Snow pleaded.
"I don't want to," Emma replied, a smile on her lips.
"We love you, no matter what."
"I know," Emma said, a soft smile on her lips as she glanced beteeen her parents. She then turned to her son, her face brightening at the sight of him. "Hey, kid. How are you?"
"Just glad you're okay," Henry replied.
"So, your magic..." Snow hesitated to ask. "Are you in control of it again?"
Emma grinned, glancing at Elsa. "Absolutely." She pulled up the sleeves of her red jacket before turning around to face the wide open night sky of stars.
She waved her fingers, conjuring red sparks before a whirl of colors burst from her palms and shot up to the sky. It was like the northern lights before they turned to fireworks and burst brightly in the sky.
They stared up at the sky in awe, smiles on their faces.
"Cool."
Henry then noticed on his mother's outstretched wrist, a yellow ribbon. "Mom, when did you get that?"
"I don't know," Emma replied. She peered down at the yellow ribbon in confusion.
"Emma, what's happening?" Elsa was struggling to remove a similar yellow ribbon that was around to her wrist. "It won't come off."
"Mine won't, either." Emma then gasped and clutched at her stomach. "Aah."
"I feel it, too," Elsa said, eyebrows furrowing. "It's like it's funneling all my magic away, like it's...harnessing it somehow."
"Any idea what this is?"
"No," Emma shook her head. "But I have a pretty good idea where it came from."
➳
Teresa was utterly confused. After she had been teleported into Gold's shop, he had done a memory spell on her to ensure she wouldn't be able to tell anyone about him having Hook's heart. So now Teresa was confused as to why Gold kept telling her that she was part of his plan.
Gold teleported himself and Teresa into the ice cave, where Ingrid turned around and grinned brightly at her daughter. Teresa, however, did not return the smile She was too angry with Gold to feel happiness toward her mother.
"You look disappointed," Ingrid said to Gold.
"Miss Swan did not behave as I had hoped. Did you have a hand in it?"
"Of course not. My hands were trapped here the entire time. Although, as you said, the urn dust didn't last long at all."
"I'd keep my distance if I were you," Gold threatened, gripping onto Teresa's arm.
Ingrid raised a brow at his threat. "You really don't understand what's happening, do you? I wasn't the one who saved Emma. Elsa was. They really are quite wonderful together...like sisters."
"Your strange fixation really holds no interest for me."
Ingrid laughed. "Oh, but it should. And it will. You see, these ribbons were of no use to me until this moment." Ingrid lifted her wrist, revealing a yellow ribbon wrapped around it. "They can bond four magical sisters together, but only if all of us are a perfect match."
The three of them looked down at Teresa's wrist to see a yellow ribbon wrapped around it. Teresa furrowed her eyebrows, wondering when they had gotten there.
"And what makes for this perfect match?"
"When all four have embraced their powers, which we now have, thanks to you." Ingrid smiled breathlessly. "Now I wield the magic of my four sisters. Now my mirror is complete. And with this power, I can finally cast a spell over all of Storybrooke."
Ingrid moved out of the circle that Gold had bound her in earlier until she was right in front of him. "I could probably even defeat you and decorate this place with your bones. Shall I try?"
Teresa glanced between them.
"Dearie, I warn you...do not overestimate your power."
Ingrid smiled. "And I warn you...don't underestimate it." With a wave of her hand, the cuffs disappeared from Teresa's wrists, freeing her hands.
Teresa gasped as a sudden pain shot through her body as the ribbon seemed to be harnessing her magic.
Gold stared at the cuffs that were now on the floor before teleporting away, leaving Teresa alone with her mother.
Teresa swallowed. "Mom...why are you doing this?"
Ingrid moved forward and gently cupped her daughter's cheek. "So we can be a family, my love."
Teresa recoiled from her touch as if she had gotten burned. Hurt flashed in Ingrid's eyes, her heart clenching.
Teresa shook her head and held up her wrist that contained the yellow ribbon. "This isn't the way to be a family. Stop this and we can be together the right way. You don't need all this magic."
When her mother remained silent, Teresa turned on her heel and left the cave. Ingrid didn't stop her, but simply watched her leave with a frown on her face.
Afted a moment, she then turned to her mirror and started her spell.
