CHAPTER NINETEEN
SHATTERED SIGHT, PT. 2
╚═════ ═════╝

FROST CRUSHED UNDERNEATH EMMA AND ELSA'S SHOES AS THEY WALKED IN INGRID'S ICE CAVE IN SEARCH OF HER. Suddenly, as they were looking around, a voice from behind them spoke. "You two have no idea how long I've waited for this moment."

They turned around, finding Ingrid staring at them with a soft smile. Her smile, however, dropped when Ingrid no longer seen the ribbons on their wrists. "Your ribbons...what have you done?

"I'm not much for accessories."

"Those ribbons joined us together." A heartbroken expression was plastered on her face.

"Get it through your head, lady. We're not your sisters and we're never gonna love you."

"Oh, Emma." Ingrid sighed and plopped down onto her sofa. "I know that you actually believe that. And...it makes me sad. But I know that sadness won't last because soon, you'll see you're wrong."

"Don't do it!" Emma's eyebrows furrowed as Ingrid held up two stone. "The hell are those?"

"They're memories," Ingrid smiled. "I took from the two of you. And now it's time to give them back."

"Why? So we can remember just how badly you treated us?"

"The funny thing about time is we romanticize the good and forget the bad. That's exactly what's in these crystals. These are the good memories and nothing else. Lovely moments the two of you shared with me, which I'll cherish forever and now so will you."

"I hate to break it to you, but magic can't make someone love you," Emma said.

"You're right, Emma. Magic can't create love," Ingrid agreed. "But if someone loved you in the past, it can make them love you again. And I know you've forgotten, Emma, but you did love me. You both did." Ingrid stood and began walking toward them. "That's why...right now, you're not doing anything. We all know the only way to stop me is to kill me, and you're both...hesitating." She looked at them with smiles. "You don't have it in you."

"It's okay." Ingrid held her hands out, a stone in each palm. "Come. Be my sisters."

Elsa sighed. "I can't do it, Emma. I can't hurt her."

"Yeah, well, I can." Emma went to thrust her hand forward when Anna suddenly came running in.

"Wait! Stop!"

"Anna! No, she's too dangerous."

"You should listen to my sister and go," Ingrid snapped.

"Your sister?" Anna glared at her aunt and went to go at her, but Emma abd Elsa held her back. "She's mine! And whatever you're gonna do..." Anna paused, pondering her words. "Well...don't. Elsa, I found this on the beach." Anna held up a large piece of parchment. "It's from our mother. She must've thrown it into the ocean before their ship sank. It came over in the portal with us."

"Oh, just be careful," Emma warned Anna as the red head took a step toward her aunt.

"No, I'm not gonna be careful. She needs to hear this. You all do." Anna held up the parchment and began to read from it. "Elsa, Anna, I don't know if your father and I will ever get back to you, but I need you to know we were wrong to tell Elsa to conceal her powers — "

"How fitting that you, who are so much like your mother, should share her last words." Ingrid raised her hand, ready to kill Anna, when the red head was quick to keep reading the letter.

"I feel terrible that it happened before and I can't let it happen again."

Ingrid's face softened. "What?"

"My sisters Ingrid and Freya, like you, also had ice powers. I never told you about them or my other sister Helga, but I should have. They were beautiful and kind and wonderful, and I was fearful. And I let that fear guide me. I let Freya and Ingrid hide when I should have celebrated them for the people they were. I loved them so much."

"You're lying!" Ingrid's eyes began to burn as tears built in her eyes. "My sister hated me! She called me a monster! She put me in that urn, like you did Elsa!"

"In this crystal are the memories of my sisters, which I stole from the people of Arendelle. Please return them. My sisters deserve to be known. In a cave in the north valley, you'll find an urn that contains Ingrid. Please do what I should have done long ago and release her. When you see her, please tell her I love her and I'm sorry. I'd give anything to take back what I did, to hold her hands one more time. If she asks of her twin Freya, let her know she died a hero."

Ingrid's eyes softened and a pained expression pulled onto her face at the mention of her twin sister.

"Someone had tried to kill you, Elsa, as you slept in your crib. Freya gave her life to protect you. For that, I am forever grateful. She allowed me to raise you into the wonderful woman you are now."

Ingrid felt her broken heart break even more as her tears threatened to fall. All her life she wondered where Freya had disappeared to, and now that she knew her twin was dead a wave of agony crashed over her.

Completely unexpected to all those in the cave, Ingrid thrust her hand forward and began to strangle her red haired niece.

Anna gasped, and Elsa's eyes widened in shock. "Ingrid!"

"Let her go!" Emma moved to hit her with some magic, but a forceful blow of magical from Ingrid threw both her and Elsa back.

"I understand, Aunt Ingrid," Anna gasped. "I understand now why you cast this curse. But you can come back from it."

"Understand me?" Ingrid stared at her with a pained expression. "How could you? You're nothing like me! You understand nothing!"

Anna's knees weakened as she fought for breath, causing her to drop to the floor. Soon, her vision began to blur. "You're right. I'm not like you. My mother wasn't like you. But if she was able to love you for who you are, so can I. You're a part of our family no matter what. And family never gives up on each other."

"You lie!" Ingrid backhanded the red head, then moved to pick up the fallen piece of parchment. She stared at the parchment in shock, for it truly was her sister Gerda's handwriting. Every word Anna had said had been true.

Ingrid placed her fingertip against the stone attached to the parchment and gasped as images of her childhood with her sisters rushed through her mind before stopping on the night Freya had perished.

Freya and Gerda bolted down the hallway toward the nursery in panic and fear. After Freya had felt a strange feeling in her bones, she had felt a dire urge to go check on her niece. So she first retrieved her sister from the library before going to the nursery.

As soon as they entered the nursery, they found a man stood over the crib with a knife. Both sisters gasped at the horrifying sight.

"No! Please!" Gerda cried.

Immediately, Freya tore off the crystal pendant from her neck and with a shove of her hands, the man was thrown away from the crib and her niece.

With the man down, Gerda picked up the her sleeping daughter. She then ran from the room with Freya right behind her.

"Help! Guards, quick!"

Suddenly, an agonizing pain shot through Freya back. She cried out in pain and fell to the ground. "Ahh!"

The man and missed his mark at hitting the fleeing queen and princess and instead his dagger was no embedded in the back of Freya.

"Freya!"

Guards arrived and restrained the murderer as Gerda fell to her knees next to her sister. Her eyes filled with tears as she watched Freya cough up blood, the crimson color staining her soft blue night down.

"No — Freya!"

"I-If Ingrid ever escapes," Freya gasped a surge of pain shot up and down her body. She placed her pendant in the palm of her sisters hand. "Give this to her, please."

"Please don't leave me," Gerda sobbed. Baby Elsa began to cry, drawing Freya's gaze to her niece.

"She's so beautiful," Freya gave her sister a teary smile. "Just like her mother. Take care of yourself and little Elsa, okay?"

With a final breath, Freya's eyes closed forever.

Ingrid's tears now streamed freely down her cheeks. "Oh, Freya. Oh, Gerda," she whispered, her lip quivering. Her eyes then landed on her nieces and Emma. "What have I done?" She rose to her feet, guilt and regret plastered on her saddened face. "I need to reverse this." Ingrid moved toward her mirror.

Emma and Elsa helped Anna onto her feet, who then shook her head with wide eyes. "You can't. The only way is if you..."

"I know. I have to destroy myself." Ingrid looked to the ceiling of her ice cave before waving her hand. The glass shards appeared and began to move toward her.

"No, Ingrid. Wait!" Emma pleaded.

"There's no other way. I am a monster, not because of my powers, but because of what I let them turn me into. I have to undo this."

"No, Ingrid. You'll die."

"I know. It's okay." Ingrid gave them each a breathless smile. The shards of glass began to encircle her, causing a tingling sensation to pierce her skin. "Elsa, Anna, you found each other. And, Emma, you found your family, even if it wasn't with me. You...you deserve your memories."

With a wave of her hand, their memories moved from the stones in a purple wave and into their minds. Ingrid watched as their faces softened, their memories restoring.

"You...three...are so special. Never forget that." Ingrid let out a gasp of pain as the shards began to penetrate her body. She hunched over, her body glowing a soft white color.

"There has to be another way. You deserve your happy ending, too. You just got your daughter back! Don't do this — survive, for Teresa!"

"Long ago, a prophecy told me that you would lead me to just that, Emma. And this is it. All I wanted was to have my sister's love, and...now I have it. Now...I get to join them."

"Ingrid, think about Teresa, please!" Elsa pleaded as she stared fearfully at her aunt that was hell bent on dying right now.

A soft smile pulled onto Ingrid's lips at the mention of her daughter. "I am. Everything I have done my entire life has been for the safety of my daughter, and I'm not about to stop protecting her now. Will you tell her something for me, please?"

"I won't have to. Ingrid please — "

Ingrid cut Elsa off, with tears stresming down her cheeks. "I thought meeting Teresa's father was the best day of my life, but my best day is far from that one. The best day of my entire existence was when she was born. She was, and is, the most beautiful human being I've ever laid eyes upon. She was always so happy, her smile could light up an entire room. I'm so, so, so sorry I ruined everything by hurting her that night. Hurting Teresa felt like losing Helga all over again." More tears fell as her voice began to crack. "I never wanted to send her away, but I was so scared I would hurt her. I love my daughter very much, you be sure to tell her that."

And just like that, Ingrid gave her life. Her body was engulfed by all the shards and she perished in a cloud of white flurries that quickly vanished into nothing.

Snow then began to fall, the snow being a cure for the curse.

Emma stared at where Ingrid had once been in utter shock. "She sacrificed herself for us, for all of us."

After a moment, the two sisters met in a tight embrace. As they pulled apart, Elsa picked up their mothers letter. "We must follow through on our mother's last wish. We must bring back the memory of Ingrid, Freya and Helga to the people of Arendelle."

As they parted, Anna smiled. "We will."

Snow had begun to fall from the sky above, during all those who were cursed. Teresa and Henry walked out of the diner where they had hidden after fleeing from Hook, and stared up at the sky with smiles.

Suddenly, the ribbon around Teresa's wrist began to glow, causing her to smile. "They did it, Emma and Elsa did it."

Henry smiled as his eyes landed on his birth mother as she walked with Elsa and Anna.

"Emma!" Suddenly, Snow was running toward her Emma and pulling her into a tight embrace.

Henry rushed over to Regina after spotting her walking behind his grandfather. "Mom!"

Regina's face lit up at the sight of him as she wrapped him in a hug. "Henry!"

After hugging her, Henry moved onto to hug his birth mother. "And mom."

Snow's eyes then landed on Teresa, as said teenager walked toward her and David with baby Neal in her arms. "Teri!"

Teri gave her a one-armed hug before placing Neal into her eager arms. "He was fine all night, nothing to worry about."

"Thanks for watching him," David said.

"No problem, though perhaps you should teach me how to change a diaper next time. Due to my limited knowledge on infants, Henry was forced to change all of them," she finished with a smirk. Snow and David laughed before turning to each other with loving eyes.

"Teresa!"

Teresa turned around at the sound of her name and met Elsa halfway in a hug. "I can't believe you and Emma actually did it." As they pulled away, Teresa's eyes went searching for her mother. "Where's my mom?"

Everyone froze as they waited to hear the answer to Teresa's question. Fear crept into Teresa's veins as each silent second passed.

"Teresa," Elsa began with a frown. "She..."

Anna stepped forward and gently took Teresa's hand in hers. "She sarcrified herself in order to protect you and the entire town."

It was like time completly froze. Teresa stared at her cousin in utter shock, as everyone stared at Teresa in sadness.

A harsh wind suddenly began to blow, making Ingrid's snowy cure whip around; white flurries started to surround Teresa. Her emotions were spiraling, causing her magic to go wild.

"W-What?"

"I'm so sorry. I know I told you that I would try and get her back — "

"And I did try, we all did," Emma cut in.

"But she sacrificed herself. We couldn't stop her."

Teresa backed away, tears in her eyes. Wordlessly, she began moving down the snowy road

"Teresa!"

"Teresa, come back!"

Teresa turned around and shook her head as they tried to follow her. "Don't!" She shouted. "I just...need — I need to be alone right now."
