Bella's pov:

You're most likely wondering why a girl is fighting instead of hiding safely. 2 reasons: 1, because I'm not some prissy princess who is scared of her own shadow. And 2, because I have the most powerful magic in the kingdom. We could kill those guys easily me and Evie could.

"Bella? Is the family safe?" Evie yelled at me, wildly ordering guards to positions. In total we had around 120,000 generic soldiers, 90,000 archers, and 90,000 superior soldiers who had stronger protective magic and strengths. We also have 3000 Generals and Governors over these groups of soldiers, making our jobs just that bit easier.

"Everyone is under around 80 guards, 30 of which are superior soldiers. They are safe." I promised.

She heaved a sigh of relief and then focused her attention on the vicious guards who were attacking ours.

"They're using magic enhancers. I think we should be doing this." She stated.

I nodded and we joined hands, letting our powers fuse. We chose to use fire, creating a massive ring of fire that surrounded the enemy soldiers. We burnt them enough to hurt them but not kill them, and the locked them in the dungeons of the castle.

"Wow, so yeah. Ok, that just happened. Why do you think they attacked now?" I asked.

Evie sighed. "I'll have someone look into it but I really don't know."

I smiled and pulled her into a hug, and she relaxed a little bit.
This is really unusual. I couldn't think of anything that would make them choose now to attack us. At least our family was ok. Me and Evie walked over to the room where the guards opened the door for us and we rushed in to check on everyone.

"Well you don't need to slit my throat now do you babe?" Ryuku smirked hugging me. Well I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed that hug. He was warm and comfortable, which was nice because the battle took a lot of energy. But I forced myself to let him go and smile.

"Just kidding boo." I replied with a sickly fake smile. I knew I rolled my eyes when I pulled away, not my best move I'll admit.

My sister looked almost sick and everyone looked nonplussed. I'm sure Mom told everyone we were dating earlier. He pecked my cheek and I check on my siblings. Azure hugged my extra tightly and so did Jordan, while Kai looked really scared but almost like he was trying to be the bravest.

I let Azure and Jordan go, and they ran off to see Evie. Then I pulled Kai in for a hug.

"You okay bro?" I asked giving him a squeeze.

"I was trying to be brave for Azure and Jordan and Zale but I'm really scared." He frowned.

"Bub, being scared is what keeps you alert and vigilant. Do you think you would have been as ready to protect your family if you weren't scared?" I smiled wiping his fears away.

"Well no I guess not." He sniffled.

"Exactly. If you weren't scared, you probably would've thought it was no big deal and wouldn't have been alert to the danger. So you did a good job okay? Don't be upset with yourself." I smiled.

He grinned back and hugged me again, then went to see Adrian. I sighed deeply and went to check on Maddy and Ant. I'm very close to my uncle. He's probably my favourite person outside of my immediate family. Other than Maddy of course. She's the best aunt I could ask for! She's sweet and kind, perfect fit for my uncle I say.

After a lot of hugs, our family group dispersed into smaller ones; Kai went with Azure and Jordan, going off to play in their room, Adrian went with his parents, and Zale followed Evie and Eldoris out of the room.

Without sparing Ryuku a second glance, I stormed out of the room and went to have a shower. Our whole family wasn't around so it wasn't like anyone would notice.

After a beautiful and very long shower, I got into a new outift and walked downstairs to get some more food. Geez leave me alone, I'm hungry ok?

Ryuku was standing in the hallway, and he tripped me over when I walked past him. I stood up quickly and kicked him as hard as I could in his groin, because there was likely no better place to be a bitch.

"Bloody hell Bella, what was that?" He yelled doubling over in pain.

"Now now boo, don't be too loud, wouldn't want our family to hear you. That's your fault remember?" I smirked.

He growled when I walked off, wow he almost sounded like an animal, he's good! I walked into the kitchen and spotted Hailey, who turned to me with a smile.

"Princess! Can I get you anything?" She asked.

"Hmmmmmmmm, yes, could I have a..... Uh. A Ceasar salad?" I asked. I'm indecisive.

She nodded and set about making the food. I walked out of there and smacked into Ryuku again.

"Bella, what a suprise. Always eating aren't you?" He asked me.

"I don't really think I need to answer you about that." I said, looking up to his face.

I didn't notice he had a egg in his hand. One minute I was glaring at him, the next minute I had a cracked egg yolk on my head.

Not going to lie, I saw red. I could feel my powers creeping up to boiling temperature, and the worst part was that for some stupid reason he was immune to most of them anyway. So I decided to go back into the kitchen, and from a portal to protect myself, I threw  eggs at him, and then a whole bag of flour.

"Uh, princess? I don't think that such a good idea......." She panicked. I could see her fear, which was okay because it was my fault anyways.

"It's fine, I did it not you." I smiled. I looked back through my portal where Ryuku was a white sticky mess. Haha that's what she said.

Evie and Eldoris were busy somewhere else, meaning for once I probably didn't need to worry about being interrupted. He was going to get his just deserts!

"I. Am. Going. To. Murder. You." Ryuku hissed. He ran in to the kitchen, hugged me which covered me in the floor I put on him, and then grabbed a bottle of milk and poured it on me. I was covered in milk which was bad for him.

I ran to the fridge and grabbed the still got melted chocolate a poured it on his hair. He cringed and then put his hands in his hair, before wiping them all over my face.

"Okay that's it." I laughed. I grabbed the salt and poured it on his head, making it get stuck in the chocolate that was already there.

"Hey Bella? Is it true you've never been kissed yet? Saving it for me?" Ryuku asked.

"As if I'd save anything for you." I blushed.

"Oh. So you have been kissed." He frowned.

"I never said that. Why do you care?" I asked, reaching for another egg to throw at him. He stopped my arm as it came down to throw the egg, then pushed his face really close to mine.

"I would kiss you now, but I think it would ruin you waiting for the perfect moment." He smirked pulling back. I took my opportunity to throw the egg and it his his chest. I quickly ran off in an attempt to escape the crime scene.

"BELLA? God I'm going to kill you this time." Evie yelled running up to to me.

"Why? He started it." I shrugged.

"Bel, this has to stop. The kitchen is a disaster, you are covered in goodness knows what, and this little fight the two of you have going on needs to stop. I know he dropped a bomb this morning but you are the Princess remember? You have to be mature!" Evie scolded me.

"Dropped a bomb? Dropped a bomb? He told our parents we were dating! Our parents in turn told everyone else! I could still cheerfully kill him for that! And once again, he started it! It is not my fault. Why don't you go argue with him?" I hissed.

"Calm down ok? You're my best friend. I only want to help you. And FYI, Eldoris is in there going him a piece of his mind." Evie smirked.

"Wait what? Since when?" I asked.

"Remember the black eye he had before he got the doctor to heal it?"

"Yeah it was nasty." I shuddered. I left out the part where I wanted to help him.

"That was Eldoris. Because he was angry at Ryuku for being mean to you." Evie smirked.

Oh wow. Ok.

"Oh uh, by the way, Maddy was watching you two." Evie said.

"Oh crap. Realising that was a severely bad idea. Maybe she won't notice?" I smiled.

"No, not likely. But you can hope. And you can go clean up that mess." Evie smirked.

"Oh come on seriously?" I pouted.

"Yes seriously. Go on." She ordered.

I frowned and cleaned up. Then I headed upstairs to my room, flopped on my bed, and cursed Ryuku for ever existing.

That evening, Maddy's pov:

"Maddy? Hey where's Adrian?" Ant asked me as I walked back to our room.

"Uh he's with Kai." I smiled kissing him.

"Ah ok cool. How are you feeling? Not sick or anything right? After that stupid attack." Ant growled cuddling me.

"Oi, calm down you. I'm fine. Not sick at all, and yes they are stupid but we don't need to give them any time of day. Evie dealt with them already." I smiled.

He nodded and we laid down in our bed. I can't believe I never notice I before. Well I did but I always just assume they were friends an didn't really like each other romantically. I didn't realise they hated each other! How dare he do that to her? And why hasn't she said anything?! I mean, after this morning when he was covered in crap I assumed someone had pranked him. And I'd noticed he'd seemed meaner than usual to her. I should've put two and two together.

"Maddy? Are you sure you're ok? You zoned out." Ant called. He looked worried and I felt bad.

"I'm ok, just really tired. I'm going to go grab Adrian and put him to bed." I smiled at my husband.

He nodded and kissed my cheek. I got up and headed off to find Kai and Adrian. On my way, I heard loud yelling and the sound of....... Fighting?

I stuck my head inside the room but went invisible so I wouldn't be seen, and watched the scene infront of me.

"Okay I'm almost done with this. Know what happens when someone dies after marriage, Ryuku?" Evie yelled.

"Woah calm down you. I didn't start it...... Wait no yes I did." He smirked.

"Bro she's right. Control your stupid moods or I'll do it for you." Eldoris ordered.

"I do not care what happens to her." Ryuku shrugged.

"You might not, but Arlo does. And that means you need to be nice to her." Evie said. "Plus you can't say you don't feel some kind of connection to her."

Ryuku winced and frowned. "I-i don't."

"Real convincing." Eldoris smirked.

"Look the only reason we aren't doing anything about this is because Bel doesn't want to marry either of Calder's sons and because there's no other guys our parents would choose to let her marry meaning she'd loose her powers. Get your act together." Evie said.

Who's Arlo? And what on earth or..... Lemuria did they mean?

I finally located Kai, and Adrian was asleep on his bed, so I carried my son downstairs and tucked him into bed. I couldn't shake that conversation from my head.

What the hell is going on?

I decided to talk to Bella about it tomorrow. She didn't want me to know I'm sure, this definitely was a sticky situation. I mean if the elders found out it would make the people question their engagement. And her parents would be really angry. Trust me you do not wanna see my brother angry especially if someone threatens his family. A while ago we had an enemy attack and Fontaine was captured. Finn completely lost control and killed everyone who was touching her. So yes telling him was out of the question.

I don't blame her for not saying anything. But the more I thought about it the more confused I was.

"Night Maddy, love you." Ant smiled at me once I came back.

I kissed him and smiled back. "Love you too."

Bella's pov, next morning.

When I woke up today, I'd completely forgotten what Ryuku had done the day before. A smirk and the new annoying nickname babe five minutes after I came out snapped me out of my blissful forgetfulness.

"Fuck off." I ordered. "Got no time for you and your weirdness."

He chuckled a deep laugh, almost like a growl from his chest. "Be nice babe, your aunt is watching us."

I glared at him and nodded, accepting that this was my day from now on. He looked down and seemed tense, then called Evie in.

"I'm going to get laid, haven't seen my real girlfriend in a few days. Make sure your dumb sister keeps the act up." He smirked.

Evie was visibly pissed but simply nodded and smiled at me. "Maddy wants to talk to you." Then why'd she ask Evie to get me and not just do it herself?

I nodded and hugged her goodbye, choosing to completely ignore Ryuku. When I looked up he was walking out, and i felt a twinge of an unidentified emotion hit me.

Going to get laid huh? Asshole. I though to myself. Maddy was standing at the doorway, carefully observing the scene. Poop. Now she definitely knew. Remind me again why he has such a big mouth?

"Hey Mads, you wanted to see me?" I asked doing a little bow. It's a Lemurian custom.

"Yes, but let's go somewhere more private." She replied returning the gesture.

I nodded and our guards escorted us to her office room. She sent them to guard from the outside and locked her office door.

"So are you ok?" I asked, choosing to go with the playing dumb plan.

She gave me the 'are you serious' face and then pointed to the chair. "I'm fairly certain you know why I wanted you, Bella."

"Depends, you might be thinking something different then I am?" I shrugged. Yep still playing dumb.

"Might I ask what you are thinking?" She smirked at me.

Shit. "Wondering if you are pregnant?" I replied.

Her shocked face was definitely not what I was expecting to see. She is?

"Well I didn't want you for that, but yes I'm pregnant. How did you know?" Maddy asked.

"Ant seemed particularly attentive yesterday." I smiled.

"Way to change the subject little niece. I know you know why I wanted to speak with you." My aunt frowned.

I sighed. "Congratulations on the news. And yes I'm sure I do know. What are you gonna do about it?"

"Bella." Maddy glared. Okay, aunty authoritive voice is back.

"You know why. Pretty hard to tell you parents the guy they picked for me to marry hates my guts." I frowned.

"You could have told me, or Ant, someone! We could have helped." Maddy sighed.

"Oh really? You know that's not true. Even if I'd said something he wouldn't have changed. All our friends have known this whole time and that hasn't done anything!" I yelled.

"I am really sorry. I'm sure you know that Ant and i hated each other before we ended up together. So I can definitely help you. And it's always good to have someone there for you. What exactly has he been doing?" Maddy asked.

The unspoken question, what hasn't he done?

"Endless pranks and being a complete child since my eighth birthday. Plus deliberately dating the biggest bitch in school just to spite me." I shuddered at the mental image of his tongue down her throat on Friday.

A knowing look passed over my aunty's face. "You like him."

"What? No! I hate him! He's ruined my life since we were kids! If anything I'd like to kill him!" I spluttered.

"Did it hurt when he was kissing that other girl?" Maddy asked.

"How did you know about him doing that?" I squeaked.

"I called your headmaster to see what else you'd been keeping from us. He let me access the cctv." Maddy shrugged.

"Geez I think I'd rather be interrogated by Mom." I whined.

"Bella this is serious. And yes, the look of pure horror and hurt on you face on Friday spoke volumes." Maddy smirked at me.

Great. Even she's turned.

"I thought you were going to help me!" I frowned.

"I'm sorry. I really do want to help ok? You can always come to me when you need to vent a little. And I'll give him a piece of my mind for you." Maddy smiled giving me a hug.

I felt hot tears pour out of my eyes, not realising how emotional I was.

"Oh hon. Listen to me, no matter what he does, it's not your fault. You didn't hate him first, you didn't make him hate you." Maddy said gently.

I nodded and wiped my face. "Maybe it really is my fault. He hate me and whilst I can't think of a reason I must have done something, no one hates someone for no reason right?"

"Listen, I grew up a lot like you have. With someone who hated me. Me and Ant never got along until much later when everything happened with my Dad. I understand what it's like. And I'm sure you're experiencing some kind of guilt because you blame yourself. Both of you need to try and  fix it, so you shouldn't be placing blame solely on yourself!" Maddy scolded me.

"You guys are special. He hated me my whole life. There's no way I can't be responsible, even if I love giving it back to him." I sighed.

"No no no. It is not you. And don't you think otherwise. Listen to me. Just ignore him for the most part. Don't retaliate when he pranks you, and then he will eventually give up." She grinned.

I giggled at her face. "Besides, remember? Princesses don't cry." Maddy said, quoting our favourite song.

"Don't waste our precious time on boys with pretty eyes." I blurted before I could stop myself.

"Aha! So you do like him!" Maddy cackled as I went bright red.

"No I do not!" I yelled.

"Sure. Well please promise me you will come to me when you need help." Maddy ordered.

"I promise." I giggled.

"Do you know who Arlo is?" Maddy asked suddenly.

"Um who?" I questioned. "I've never met anyone named Arlo except one little boy at a meet and greet we did one time."

"Oh ok. Just after I figured all this out, remind me to get your uncle to castrate him for you? I heard Evie say something about Ryuku and some Arlo person." Maddy frowned.

A sudden sharp pain shot through my body and I grimaced slightly. My ever attentive aunt noticed and narrowed her eyes.

"What's wrong?" She demanded.

"I-I don't know. I just feel like I'm in a lot of pain all the time." I whimpered.

"Pain? Oh god. Ok, well maybe go see Nereus later." Maddy smiled at me.

I nodded. "How far along are you and is this a secret?"

"It is for now and around a month!" Maddy squealed.

"Oh my goodness. Adrian is going to be so excited!" I laughed.

"I hope so. I actually have an appointment now to check on the baby so I have to go." Maddy said giving me a hug.

I stood up as we walked out. "And don't forget what I said ok? Come see me if you ever need to talk."

I nodded and waved her off, ignoring the pit in my stomach that somehow everyone knew something I obviously didn't.

Now, where is Nereus?

I took off in search for the bearded guy my mother still doesn't really like, hoping he'd have some answers. Usually he causes more questions than answers, but we can try. On my way I ran into Evie, who looked worriedly at me.

"Uh sis are you ok? Because you look like you saw a ghost." I joked.

"No no, sorry. I may have lost Azure when we were playing before." She said guiltily.

"Oh I can fix that. Look." I smiled, holding up a rune that had a drop of her magic in it. "Here, she's hiding in the ballroom."

"Thank you! You are a lifesaver." Evie grinned hugging me.

"You're welcome owwwwwwww." I groaned.

"Did I squeeze too hard?" She asked.

"Oh no. This wasn't your fault, I've been in pain all day." I smiled.

"I'm going to kill him." Evie hissed.

"Uh who? You know I knew Ryuku was with his girlfriend today, so why are you gonna kill him?" I asked, feeling quite confused.

"What makes you so sure I mean him?" Evie asked suspiciously.

"On a general scale you usually mean him if you're talking to me." I answered.

"Well I didn't. But anyways, where are you heading?" Evie said rapidly changing the subject.

"Oh, to find Nereus. Maddy said he'd be able to tell me why I'm in pain." I frowned. "Although it just stopped."

Evie's expression changed but what she was thinking I didn't have time to gage as suddenly Ryuku popped up behind me. The pain I'd been feeling since I went to talk with Maddy was replaced by a feeling of relief.

"Welcome back resident asshole! Now if you'll excuse me I need to go find Nereus." I said.

"Go find Nereus? Why?" Ryuku demanded.

"If you must know if been in pain all morning and my aunty who is now out for your blood advised I go see Nereus." I shrugged.

Ryuku's face morphed into a very guilty and almost regretful one, while Evie glared at him.

"Princess Evie? Your grandparents have just arrived." A guard suddenly interrupted our conversation.

"What? You mean Nan Kaiko and Pop Will? I didn't know they were coming!" I said excitedly.

"Yes your majesty." The guard nodded.

"Where are they?" I asked.

"In the castle entrance way your majesty." He replied.

"Last one there owes the winner a favour!" I yelled to Evie.

She smirked and we both took off to see our grandparents. Nereus would have to wait, besides the pain was gone anyways!

Ryuku's pov:

I'm dead. Done, finished, time's up, however you wanna say it. Dead meat.

Why you may ask? Well I made the stupidest decision possible, I chose to take out my frustrations by getting laid with my whore of a girlfriend. Now don't get me wrong I love it every bit as much as the next person. But I hurt Arlo and I hurt Bella, making Evie and soon to be Eldoris pissed at me. I also have to fight off Bella's aunt.

Remind me again to find one of those disappearing magic runes?

"Ryuku! Oi! Pay attention when I'm speaking to you. The Duke and Duchess wish to speak with you." Kai yelled in my face.

I thanked him and went to see the family. Evie and Bella were both hugging their grandparents, and Azure, Jordan and Zale were waiting their turn.

I bowed quickly and smiled at them. "Welcome back your majesties."

"Ah Ryuku. It's been a few year hasn't it?" Will smiled at me. "You're much taller than the last time I saw you."

Kaiko's pov:

As we arrived back in Lemuria, I couldn't help but feel like something was off. Our grandchildren malled us as soon as we got inside, and I asked to see Ryuku and Eldoris.

When Eldoris and Ryuku walked in with Kai, I noticed he had almost a panicked look on his face. Mother's intuition? What has he done wrong.

"Ah Ryuku. It's been a few years hasn't it?" Will said to the boy. "You're much taller than the last time I saw you."

I saw Bella frown and then cover it up. I decided to test out the waters and see what was wrong.

"And much more handsome don't you think? Bella you sure lucked out with him!" I grinned.

I saw her eyes bulge and she grimaced, then smiled at me.

"Actually we're dating." Ryuku smirked throwing his arm around Bella.

She glared at him, and her eyes glowed blue in anger. I assume she was using her powers. Her and Evie also seemed to be having a mind conversation, leading me to the final conclusion; something was definitely off here.

"Well now Pop, and Nan, we really must get you into your rooms." Evie interrupted the quiet room.

I smiled at her and me and Will followed her upstairs. I couldn't help but overhear a loud slap as someone's hand came into contact with someone's face.

And I knew I wasn't mistaken when Bella hissed "I hate you" to the Boy who was supposed to be her fiance. My mind was reeling with possibilities. It was obvious Evie an Bella were working together to hide whatever was going on.

But the question was, what exactly happened since we left? And why does it seem like no one else knew about it?
