Marriage is a sacred ritual, which involves not just gets two people together for life time but also two families for a life time
But what if marriage becomes just a compromise?
*~~*
Rhea's POV
I looked around the room of the marriage hall for about 50th time..
Tears swell up my eyes, what am i doing??
Marrying a guy just for someone's happiness
But i can't backout
Aarohi hugs me tightly, while all the pther members of my family gather around the main gate to welcome the groom's family
I can clearly hear teasing, laughter, warm welcome going on...
I fondly look at the chuda on my hand
This morning chuda ceremony took place at my house
It is indeed one of the most beautiful ritual...
My mind is distracted by aarohi, she literally screams in my ears
"Lets gooooo!!", she screams
My heart beat grew faster, today after few hours i will be OFFICIALLY MARRIED TO VIVAAN MALHOTRA!!!
that means suhagraat is near...i mean...
Stop it!
I along with my sisters head towards the mandap
I literally started to have those butterfly feels in my stomach
The hall is decorated beautifully, everything looks magestic
Everyone look at me, even VIVAAN
I too start looking at him, he does not avoid the eye lock....it feels magical and akward at the same time
We share a eyelock, a small yet beautifull...our first eyelock
Is vivaan alright?
I climb the mandap and look at vivaan, quickly retreating my eyes away from him
I made to sit just beside him
All our relatives, starts to pour in by now....my uncle and his uncle share few gifts, while all this while i am doomed in my own little world
Finally, marriage starts, the pandit start the ritual, he starts to blabber some complicated slogan which i have never heard of
"Aab vadhu ke haat ke neeche var apna haat rakhe aur mantras khatam hote hi iss agni mein chadaye (now groom put his hand under bride's and after i complete mantras, put these into fire)", speaks pandit referring to those rice, grasses and chandan
As vivaan puts his under mine, i shiver with nervous..
Oh god!..why is my heart racing like it has participated in a marathon?
after that vivaan is asked to apply sindoor and tie mangal sutra around my neck
As he brings his hand near my head, i manage my self somehow...but then he put his hand around my neck to tie mangal sutra
I shiver with nervousness yet again
This time so clearly that i am sure vivaan would have noticed
My father comes forward to perform kanya daan...
"Son, there is just one thing i want to request please take good care of our daughter"; my dad speaks to vivaan while dad's eyes are covered with tears
Watching my dad even my eyes swells up....after kanya daan, i am vivaan's...
"Dont worry uncle, i take good care", vivaan replies
I look at vivaan....will he really?
"Aab aap dono phero ke liye uth jaye (now both of you get up for pheras)", pandit speaks
Pheras is the mosr sacred ritual of marriage
7 pheras or vows signify 7 promises couple make before starting their life together
These seven vows are the seven promises which the bride and the groom do to each other for a happy and prosperous life. They are bound together by an unseen bond protected by these promising words.
These seven vows are known as Saptadi, which are performed along with Mangalpheras, which is revolving around the sacred fire. Any marriage is incomplete without these vows and is deemed complete once they are conducted. On the day of the wedding the bride and the groom sit under the Mandap or the scared canopy for this ritual. The bride is seated towards left of the groom before the pheras, while towards the right after they are complete.
The Seven Vows:
Groom:
You will offer me food and be helpful in every way. I will cherish you and provide welfare and happiness for you and our children.
Bride:
I am responsible for the home and all household responsibilities.
Groom:
Together we will protect our house and children.
Bride:
I will be by your side as your courage and strength. I will rejoice in your happiness. In return, you will love me solely.
Groom:
May we grow wealthy and prosperous and strive for the education of our children. May our children live long.
Bride:
I will love you solely for the rest of my life, as you are my husband. Every other man in my life will be secondary. I vow to remain chaste.
Groom:
You have brought sacredness into my life, and have completed me. May we be blessed with noble and obedient children.
Bride:
I will shower you with joy, from head to toe. I will strive to please you in every way I can.
Groom: You are my best friend, and staunchest well-wisher. You have come into my life, enriching it. God bless you.
Bride:
I promise to love and cherish you for as long as I live. Your happiness is my happiness, and your sorrow is my sorrow. I will trust and honor you, and will strive to fulfill all your wishes.
Groom:
May you be filled with joy and peace.
Bride:
I will always be by your side.
Groom:
We are now husband and wife, and are one. You are mine and I am yours for eternity.
Bride:
As God is witness, I am now your wife. We will love, honor and cherish each other forever.
With that our pheras are completed
"Aab aap dono pati patni hai
( now both of you are husband and wife)", speaks pandit
now i am RHEA VIVAAN MALHOTRA!
