Sunny was with her friends when her newest, but also old, crush walked by down the way from her. He was a senior while she was a sophomore. He had known she liked him but he had a girlfriend. She looked down when he looked over for no reason. It was as if he knew she would be looking.

She blushed as she looked down. Her friends made noises but they wouldn't listen to her shushes. She scoffed while looking up to see him gone. She knew his name but her and her friends continued to call him "the senior". It was an inside joke to them but didn't fully count as it wasn't really a joke.

"I hate you guys sometimes," she laughed.

"No you don't," said one of her closest guy friends, Fred.

"Fred, I could hate you." she gave looked at him beneath her lashes and a tiny smile.

"I know." he shrugged.

Sunny and Fred had only met that year. They were in the same PE class and it was fun with him. He had been like her, wild and crazy in the mind, but awkward when with unknown faces. Once they warmed up to each other, they were practically partners for everything. One glance at the other and they busted out laughing.

Sunny wondered if she liked him too. She had liked so many boys at the same time, she didn't know when feelings developed. As she laughed, Chris walked by in the distance. No one else noticed for he was almost across campus. Her friends always teased her for being able to find people she liked without trying.

It wasn't her fault, she just had a keen eye for people she knew.

Sunny watched as he walked across the courtyard with his friends. He was laughing and she felt her heart speed up. She let a small smile find itself on her face before turning to her friends. He shouldn't be on her mind, she was with her friends.

"So, who's this new guy? I heard from Macy that you seem pretty taken by him," her friend Jack asked.

"He's no one, just a junior in my class."

She had confided in her friends Macy and Trina. They were her everyday friends that she met up with for lunch and break. Macy had been there for her their freshman year when her toxic friends weren't.

"Oh, so you do have a thing for older guys, huh?" Fred teased.

Sunny blushed as the small group made noises. She waved them down and laughed while shaking her head. She was glad she found these weirdos, they kept her mind off of more weird things.

Even if they brought them back.

Once the bell rang, ending their five-minute break, they walked to their next class. Their friend Sandra was the only one who didn't have the next class with them so they walked her to her class.

"Oh, look, it's the senior." Fred raised his hand to him.

"Put your hand down before he sees you dumbass." she smacked his hand.

Fred then pushed her. She lost her balance before crashing into Macy. She apologized before pinching and shoving Fred. This was their usual thing, they were like siblings, so their friend group carried on without sharing them a second glance.

As they passed by the senior, he glanced around him and landed on her. Sunny saw his eyes before averting hers and jabbing Fred again. Looking back, the senior was still watching. She wasn't looking back at him, she didn't want to be obvious, so she made sure her eyes were a ways from his body.

But because her attention was on him, she hadn't noticed that Fred was about to push her back and she went flying into Jack. He caught her before she fell by grabbing her upper body. She gasped as their group stopped to look.

Fred started busting up laughing as Sunny glared. She lifted her head and turned it another way. The group shook their heads as they continued walking.

Fred and Sunny hadn't talked until she was dressed out for class. Even then she didn't speak much to him. He frowned as he realized she was mad at him. She didn't care, he had humiliated her in front of her crush.

Even if it was unintentional.

She knew she was overreacting. He knew it too. But she was mad and wasn't going to change her mind. So, they stood talking to other people.

"How's Spanish? Good grades?" her friend Taylor asked.

Taylor had been her friend since eighth grade. They rode the same bus and had gotten closer their first year of high school as they had English together. Sunny practically forced Taylor to be her friend as she didn't stop talking to her despite Taylor being shy.

It was a good thing too as they were closer than ever. Sunny went to Taylor whenever she needed guidance. Taylor was her parent when she needed it and a friend every other second.

"Uh, it's good. I...uh...I forgot to tell you." Sunny stumbled.

"What?" Taylor asked with her short eyebrows indented.

"Let's go sit down." she motioned with her head.

Taylor followed Sunny to their sitting spots. They had to sit outside on the hot pavement on numbers for roll call. She never wanted to sit but the teacher wouldn't mark her there if she wasn't sitting.

"So, what did you want to tell me? You aren't telling me another moving prank, are you?"

"No, I'm not moving."

"Good." Taylor sighed in relief as she brought her hand to her chest.

"There's actually this guy, he's a junior, names Chris." she started to explain.

"You like him?" Taylor guessed.

"Yeah, but I laugh about him behind his back. He's talked to my friend and I...I just feel bad for my feelings. It's not that I like him like that, it's just that his knowledge of the world that draws me in," Sunny spoke from her mind.

Sunny, as she likes to think, was a poet. Every part of her had input on what she said or did. Nothing ever went unnoticed by her. She paid attention to details and things no one dared to utter.

"Oh, I mean, as long as he's not a bad guy, it's all good, right?"

"He's not a good guy, he's like a mix between a bad guy and a semi-good guy. It's all complicated."

"I don't know what you want me to tell you." Taylor shrugged with her mouth in a frown and eyes squinted.

"Nothing? I don't know, I just needed to tell someone my true thoughts." Sunny confided.

"I'm glad it's me." Taylor gave a smile before their conversation came to an end as their class had started.

But it didn't leave Sunny's mind. All through their period, her mind was on Chris. On what he could do to her body. She realized her feelings for him were platonic, they were purely sexual.

She badly wished she wasn't insecure. That she wasn't scared to disobey her parents. She wished she was the girls Chris always spoke about.

But she wasn't.

So, as she walked to her fifth period, she kept thinking of the poem she wrote for him. It was in her binder at home, the last piece of paper in it, hiding away in one of her many drawers.

She blushed as the words came back to her. She felt bad as she wasn't paying attention to Macy but her mind was racing. Her body heated but no sweat was dripping from it. Not where it was noticeable.

Sunny trudged up the school stairs relentlessly but reminded herself that it was only 45 minutes. She could do it and not care about her thoughts. It was a class she easily got distracted in so maybe he wouldn't get in her mind today.

But that went down the drain as soon as she walked into the class and saw him smile at her.
