Chapter 6: It Was Always You

The next morning, Becky was talking with Dean at the counter.

"So.. you and Alexa, huh?" Becky asked casually.

"Are you jealous?" Dean joked.

Becky looked up at him and froze for a moment.

"You wish." She tired to play along.

"No, just friends." Dean assured her.

Becky looked at him skeptically.

"Okay.. Maybe we hooked up the other night. But that's it." Dean said.

"Well I don't think she just wants to be your friend, Dean." Becky told him.

"I'm just not into her like that. I mean she's hot and all but.." Dean began to say.

"Who is she?" Becky asked suddenly.

"What?" Dean asked.

"There is obviously another girl. Who is she?" Becky asked.

Suddenly, Seth walked into the cafe with his friends. Sasha glanced over at Dean as she followed her friends to their table.

"No." Becky said.

"Becks-." Dean began to say.

"She's trouble, Dean." Becky told him.

Dean shook his head in disapproval.

"You don't even know her." Dean said.

"I know that she has a boyfriend. And I know that getting involved with her and her friends is not a good idea.. trust me." Becky told him.

"Why would I trust you? I mean how would you know?" Dean asked her curiously.

"Just stay away from from her Dean. Go out with Alexa or something." Becky told him before walking away.

Seth looked up from the table as Becky approached.

"What can I get you guys today?" Becky asked as she looked down and saw Roman's fist.

Roman glanced up at her shamefully. Becky quickly looked away from him, trying her best to keep focus.

"We are all going to have a coffee." Seth told her.

"I'll be right back. Becky told him.

Seth smiled to himself as Becky walked away. Miz glanced up as Alexa walked into the cafe.

"Good morning." Alexa greeted Dean as she sat down next to him.

"Morning." Dean said awkwardly

Miz watched uncomfortably from across the diner as Alexa talked with Dean.

"Are you busy tonight?" Alexa asked him.

"Not exactly." Dean said.

"Do you feel like going to a movie or something?" Alexa asked him.

Dean looked over at her and thought about what Sasha told her yesterday. Becky looked over at Dean and gave him a thumbs up.

"Sure." Dean said.

Alexa smiled up at him as he took a sip of his coffee.

Becky returned to Seth's table and handed everyone their coffee.

"Here you go, Mandy. Don't accidentally spill it on me, again." Becky joked.

Mandy looked up at her and rolled her eyes as Seth laughed to himself.

Becky walked away and returned to the counter with Dean and Alexa.

"So, what are we doing for your birthday?" Nikki asked Sasha.

"I don't really feel like doing anything big this year. Miz and I are just going to go out for dinner." Sasha told everyone.

"But we usually have a party." Mandy said.

"I just don't feel like partying right now." Sasha said.

"Well of course you don't, it's like eight in the morning. We are talking about this weekend, Sasha." Mandy told her.

"Leave it alone, Mandy." Nikki told her.

Miz was still keeping his concentration on Alexa and Dean when Sasha got up from the table.

"Where are you going?" Miz asked her.

"I just need to get some air." Sasha said.

He watched as she left the cafe, not thinking to check on her. Dean noticed Sasha leave over his shoulder.

"Excuse me for a minute." Dean said.

"Of course." Alexa said.

Becky watched in annoyance as Dean left the cafe. He looked around but couldn't find Sasha anywhere. Suddenly, he heard crying from the alley next to the cafe.

"Sasha?" Dean asked as he approached her.

Sasha was sitting on the ground with tears in her eyes as she looked up at Dean.

"Leave me alone." Sasha told him.

"Yeah, that's not gonna happen." Dean said as he sat down next to her.

Sasha looked over at him, trying to hide the fact that she actually appreciated his company.

"Are you okay?" Dean asked her.

"I'm fine." Sasha told him.

Dean looked over at her and laughed.

"That doesn't work with me in general and you're going to try it when you are clearly crying about something?" Dean asked her.

Sasha looked over at him and let out a sigh.

"I don't want to talk about it." Sasha told him.

"Okay, then what do you want?" Dean asked her.

"To go home." Sasha said.

Dean looked over at her and let out a smile.

"Stay here." He told her.

Inside, Miz had noticed Alexa walk off to the bathroom.

"I'll be right back." Miz said as he got up and walked across the cafe.

Alexa was washing her hands when Miz walked in the bathroom.

"Hey." He said as he leaned against the door.

"What are you doing?" Alexa asked him.

"This was the only way I could talk to you. I've trying calling and texting you but I get no replies and every time I go to your house you apparently aren't home.." Miz began to tell her.

"You have to leave me alone." Alexa told him.

"I don't want to do that." Miz told her.

"Sasha is right outside." Alexa said.

"I just want to talk to you." Miz told her.

Alexa looked up at him helplessly.

"Fine. You can come by tonight but just to talk." Alexa told him.

"That's all I wanted." Miz said.

"Okay, now get out." Alexa told him.

Miz looked over at her and let out a slight smile before leaving the bathroom. Alexa leaned against the wall as her eyes filled with tears. She took a deep breath and tried control her emotions.

Dean walked back in the cafe and grabbed his phone and car keys.

"You're leaving already?" Becky asked her.

"Yeah.. Uncle Luke has something for me to do at the shop." Dean lied to her.

Becky looked at him for a second with an uneasy feeling in her stomach

"Right." She said as she let out a slight smile

Just as Dean left the cafe, Seth approached Becky.

"What do you want now?" Becky asked him.

"Do you want to hang out tonight?" Seth asked her.

"No, I don't." Becky told him.

"Yes, you do." Seth said.

Becky looked up at him with intrigue.

"I'll pick you up at six." Seth told her.

Becky watched him with skepticism as he walked back to his table.

"What was that?" Roman asked.

"What do you think it was?" Seth asked as he sat back down.

Roman looked up at the smirk on Seth's face and nearly lost it.

"Yeah, I can't do this." Roman said as he got up and stormed out of the cafe.

Becky watched through the window as Roman walked down the street.

Outside, Dean pulled up to the alley and let Sasha in his car. She looked over at Dean and let out a smile as they drove off. Sasha wiped the tears from her eyes and began to calm down.

"My mom.. She was diagnosed with brain cancer." Sasha said suddenly.

Dean looked over at Sasha and felt a sharp pain in his chest.

"Fuck. I'm so sorry." Dean told her.

"They say she only has a few years until.." Sasha began to say.

Dean reached over and grabbed her hand.

"It's going to be okay." He told her.

Sasha looked over at Dean and tried to smile as her eyes began to tear up again.

When they pulled up to Sasha's house, her father was walking in from the barn.

"Shit." Dean said as he parked the car.

Sasha looked over at Dean with concern. She got out of the car as her father approached. Dean rolled down the window and waved at him politely.

"Mr. Ambrose.. I thought I told you to stay away from my daughter." Johnathan told him.

"Um.." Dean tried to think of something to say.

"Daddy, he was only giving me a ride. I was upset about mom and he brought me home, that's all." Sasha assured him.

Johnathan looked up at Sasha and let out a sigh.

"I'll let it slide this time." Johnathan said.

"Thank you, Sir." Dean said.

"Goodbye, Mr. Ambrose." Johnathan said as he looked at Dean seriously.

Dean put his car and drive and left in a panic.

"Daddy-." Sasha began to say.

"I told you to stay away from that boy." Johnathan told her.

"I know but I was just with my friends and-." Sasha began to say.

"You shouldn't have gone to town with them anyway, sweetheart. With everything that's going on with your mother you should stay home for the rest of the day." Johnathan told him.

"Okay.. That's fine with me." Sasha said before walking inside.

Back at the cafe, Miz looked down at her phone in disappointment.

"Sasha left apparently." Miz said in annoyance.

"She just left?" Mandy asked.

"I don't know.. She's been acting so weird these past few days." Miz said.

"Okay, well I have to get going. See you later, babe." Nikki said as she kissed Seth goodbye.

"See ya." Seth said as Becky looked over at him from the counter.

Nikki made her way outside and ran into someone on the sidewalk.

"I'm so sorry." Nikki said.

"Nicole?" Stephanie McMahon asked.

"Principal McMahon, how are you?" Nikki asked her.

"I'm wonderful, how about yourself?" She asked.

"I'm good." Nikki said.

"That's great. I'm just here meeting the new English Lit teacher for a cup of coffee." Stephanie told her.

"Right. I forgot that Mrs. Guerrero isn't coming back this year." Nikki said.

"Oh, here he is now." Stephanie said as a man approached them.

Nikki turned around and froze in disbelief as Stephanie greeted Artem. He looked over at Nikki in confusion.

"Mr. Chigvinstev, this is Nikki, she is going to be one of your new students." Stephanie introduced them.

"Student?" Artem asked.

"That's right." Stephanie said.

"It's nice to meet you." Nikki said as she offered out her hand and looked up at him for help.

Artem looked down at her with hesitance and shook her hand.

"Yes, it's nice to meet you, Nikki." Artem said.

"Now if you'll excuse us, we have a lot to discuss." Stephanie said as she pulled Artem away.

"Of course." Nikki said.

Artem looked back at her as he walked into the cafe. Nikki stood there for a moment in shock at what had just happened.

That evening, Becky was at home reading a book when she heard someone at her window.

"You've gotta be kidding me." Becky said as Seth appeared.

She walked over and opened the window.

"Ready?" Seth asked her.

"I told you I didn't want to hang out with you." Becky said.

Seth crawled through her window and let himself into her room.

"And I think you're lying." Seth told her.

Becky looked over at him and shook her head.

"My mother is going to kill you if she sees you in here." Becky told him.

Seth looked over at her and let out a smirk.

"You're enjoying this aren't you?" Becky asked him.

"I am." Seth told her.

She looked up at him and laughed.

"You have to bring me home in an hour." Becky told him.

"Fine." Seth said.

She watched as he climbed back out her window and laughed to herself before following him.

At the movies, Alexa and Dean had just finished watching The Breakfast Club at the Arlington Heights movie theater.

"That was a good movie." Dean said as they walked back to his car.

"Yeah, sure." Alexa said.

Dean looked over at her and let out a sigh.

"Is everything okay? You're head kind of seems to be somewhere else right now." Dean told her.

"I'm sorry.. I just have a lot going through my head right now." Alexa told him.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Dean said as he thought to himself.

They got in the car and drove off.

When Dean pulled up to Alexa's house he parked the car as if they were going to talk but she just got out.

"Thank for tonight. It was fun." Alexa said before walking away.

Dean sat there for a minute in confusion before he got a text from Sasha.

"Meet me in our spot?"

Outside of town, Seth pulled up to the lake and put his tail gate down. He and Becky sat in the back of his truck as the sun began to set.

"Beer?" He asked her.

"No, I probably shouldn't. My mom is already on to me from the other night." Becky told him.

"Right.. Sorry about that, by the way." Seth told her.

Becky looked over at Seth and thought to herself.

"What did I do now?" Seth asked.

"What were you and Dean fighting about in the parking lot yesterday?" She asked him.

Seth took a sip of his beer and thought to himself for a moment.

"Not you, if that's what you are asking." Seth said.

Becky just stared at him, waiting for an actual answer.

"Fine.. It was about Sasha." Seth told her.

"Of course." Becky said as she laughed to herself.

"Is there something going on between those two?" Seth asked her.

"Not that I know of.. But if I did, I certainly wouldn't tell you about it." Becky said.

"She's my friend, okay? I'm just looking out for her." Seth said.

"And Dean is my friend. I'm looking out for him." Becky said.

Seth looked over at her and smiled.

"Fair enough." He said.

"I meant what I said you know.. About us not being able to be friends." Becky told him.

"Then what are you doing here, Rebecca?" Seth asked her.

Becky looked over at him and let out a smile.

"Why do you call me that?" Becky asked him.

"What?" Seth asked in confusion.

"Rebecca. My mother rarely even calls me that." Becky laughed.

"I don't know.. It's a nice name I guess." Seth told her.

Becky thought to herself for a minute as Seth watched her.

"I meant what I said too.. about not wanting to just be your friend." Seth said.

Becky looked up at him helplessly.

"That's not what you want." Becky told him.

"Yes it is.." Seth said as he leaned closer to her.

Becky looked into his eyes with cation.

"Don't do it." She whispered to him.

Seth tucked her hair behind her ear and looked into her eyes. Becky watched as he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. She closed her eyes as he kissed her slowly. Becky felt her a warmth grow as he held her face. As he pulled away they looked into each other's eyes again.

"I really wish you hadn't done that." Becky told him with tears in her eyes.

"What are you going to do about it?" Seth asked her.

Becky watched his eyes for a moment as butterflies filled her stomach. She leaned in and kissed him back. Becky grabbed the his neck as they began to make out.

In town, Alexa walked upstairs after Dean dropped her off to find Miz in her bedroom.

"What are you doing here?" Alexa asked him.

"You said we could talk." Miz told her.

"I didn't say you could come in my room." Alexa said.

"Your mom let me in." Miz told her.

Alexa looked up and him and let out a sigh before shutting the door.

"Talk." She said.

"Was that Ambrose that dropped you off?" Miz asked her.

Alexa looked up at him in disblief.

"Are you serious right now?" Alexa asked him.

"I'm sorry.. I know I have no right to-." Miz began to say.

"No, you don't." Alexa told him.

Miz looked down at her and took a deep breath.

"I miss you, Lexi." He said.

Alexa looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

"You don't get to miss me." Alexa told him.

"We were friends before all of this happened, you do remember that, don't you?" Miz asked her.

Alexa didn't answer him.

"You and I both know that we can't be friends anymore." Alexa said.

"How have you been? Are you still going to group therapy?" He asked her.

Alexa looked up at him with hesitance.

"Therapy is fine." She told him.

"That's good.." Miz told her.

"What are you doing here, Miz?" Alexa asked him.

"I told you.. I miss you. I miss us." Miz said.

"There is no us. There never was." Alexa told him.

"I told her that I love her the other day.. Did you know that?" Miz asked her.

"Yeah.. She told me." Alexa said as she looked away from him.

"I lied to her face." Miz said with tears in his eyes.

Alexa looked up at him helplessly.

"You and I both know there is only one girl I have ever loved and it isn't Sasha.." Miz said as he looked down at Alexa.

"Please don't do this." Alexa begged him.

"It's you, Lexi. It was always you." Miz said.

Alexa looked up at him as a tear fell down her face.

"You have to go." Alexa warned him.

"Lexi-." Miz tried to say.

"Just go." Alexa told him.

Miz looked down her and let out a sigh of frustration. He walked past her and left the room. Alexa stood there with tears running down her face as a lump grew in the back of her throat.

Outside of town, Dean pulled up to him and Sasha's spot. She walked out of the woods and got in his car.

"Hey." Sasha said.

"So this is our spot now, huh?" Dean asked her.

Sasha looked over at him and rolled her eyes.

"I really needed to get out of the house for a little bit." Sasha told him.

"Your father looked like he wanted to kill me earlier." Dean laughed.

"Sorry about that.." Sasha apologized.

"It's fine, I think I can take him." Dean joked.

Sasha looked over at Dean and laughed.

"Miz wants to meet him." Sasha said.

"You don't sound too excited about that." Dean said.

"I don't think my father will like him." Sasha told him.

"Well you'll never find out if you don't introduce them." Dean told her.

Sasha and Dean sat in his car for hours that night, just talking to each other. Even though Dean clearly had a crush on Sasha, she was just happy to have someone she could trust to talk to.

Seth pulled up to Becky's house and parked the car. He looked over at Becky and smiled.

"We made out, dude. Don't get too excited." Becky told him."

"I didn't say anything." Seth laughed.

Becky looked over at him and took a deep breath.

"It didn't mean anything." Becky told him.

"I didn't say it did." Seth said.

She got out of the truck and looked back at him.

"If you tell anyone-." Becky began to warn him.

"You'll cut my dick off?" Seth asked her.

"You're getting the hang of this." Becky laughed.

"Goodnight, Rebecca." Seth told her.

"Night." Becky said before walking away.

She walked into the the front door with a smile on her face.

"Becky, look who stopped by." Her mother said.

Becky looked up and saw Roman standing in her living room.
