Chapter 17: Can You Hold Me?
It was the first day of school in Arlington Heights. After a highly dramatic summer everyone thought things would cool down now that summer was over. But little did they know, summer was nothing compared to what this school year had in store for them.
Roman was inside talking at his locker with Seth and Miz when Mandy and Nikki approached them.
"Where's Lexi? I thought you two were together now?" Seth asked.
"We are. She just wanted to drive herself to school today." Miz told him.
"Maybe she having second thoughts." Roman suggested.
"What about you, man? Where's your girl? Why didn't she ride with you, huh?" Miz asked.
Roman looked at Seth cautiously.
"She's with Dean." Roman said unfortunately.
"Dude. You've really gotta put that asshole is in place." Miz told him.
"He's her best friend, okay? There's nothing I can do." Roman said.
Seth looked down at his feet akwarly.
"Why not?" Miz asked.
"Because if she's got someone that she can count on.. someone that will be there for her, I have no right to take that away form her." Roman said.
Mandy looked up at Roman apologetically but he didn't seem to notice. Suddenly, Seth felt obligated to join the conversation.
"But you're her boyfriend aren't you? I mean shouldn't you be the one that's there for her?" Seth asked.
"I'm just saying.. if I'm not there for her I like to know that he will be." Roman told him.
"And why wouldn't you be there for her?" Seth asked curiously.
"Dude. What's with all the questions?" Roman asked.
Nikki watched Roman and Seth with concern, not liking the situation she was being put in.
Outside, Dean pulled in the parking lot with Becky. They got out of the car and began walking toward the school.
"What if he doesn't talk to me?" Becky asked.
"He will." Dean assured her.
"I know.. but I've been here before. I know what it's like to stand in that hallway and feel like a stranger to him." Becky said.
"It's different this time, Becks. At least it better be." Dean said as he and Becky walked inside.
Roman watched as Becky and Dean made their way down the hall. Seth tried not to look but he couldn't take his eyes off of Becky. Nikki budged him on the shoulder in attempt to catch his attention. Roman walked over and immediately kissed Becky on the lips. Dean looked up at the ceiling, trying not to look.
"I've got get to class." Seth said before walking away.
As Roman pulled away Becky smiled up at him.
"I think I've got it from here, man." Roman told Dean.
"I was actually going to show Dean around before class started." Becky said awkwardly.
Roman looked at Becky with hesitance. Before he could say anything, Sasha walked inside.
"I'll show him around." Sasha said as she approached everyone.
Becky looked at Sasha uncomfortably as she grabbed Dean's hand and pulled him away. Dean looked back at Becky with an excited smile on his face
"Okay. Now let's go see this hot new teacher." Mandy said.
Everyone followed her with reluctance, as they all went to their first class together. A few people were already in class when Mandy lead everyone in the room. Seth was sitting in the middle of the room when Roman sat down in front of him. Becky looked around for an empty seat. Roman pointed to a chair next to Seth. She sat down with hesitance. Nikki took a deep breath, trying not to worry about Seth and Roman. She sat down in the front of the room by the window while Mandy sat next to her. Miz had found a seat on the far side by the door. Alexa walked into the room and walked straight to the back, ignoring Miz. He glanced back at her in confusion, unsure if she had seen the empty seat he saved for her. Corey was already sitting in the back with Dolph when Paige and Renee walked in together. Dolph let out a slight smirk as Renee and Paige sat down in the front of the room.
"Are you guys still not talking?" Corey leaned over and asked him.
"There is definitely no talking." Dolph mused to himself.
When Carmella walked into the room Corey let out a slight smile. He waved at her, hoping she would sit next to him but she didn't. Instead, she sat down next to Renee. Carmella looked beside her and saw Bayley in a revealing, black crop top.
"Damn girl, what happened to you?" Carmella asked.
"I'm trying out a new look." Bayley told her.
"And did you get extensions?" Carmella asked.
"Do you like it?" Bayley asked a she ran her fingers through her long, wavy black hair.
"Yeah. You look hot, girl." Carmella told her.
Suddenly, Finn Balor walked in the room. Sami Zayn looked up at him with caution as he passed by. He looked back over his shoulder as Finn sat down a few rows behind him.
Roman looked up from his seat as Brie walked into the room. She immediately took notice of Roman.
"Brie!" Mandy greeted her with a hug.
"Hey, how are you?" Brie asked her.
"I'm good. Come on, sit down with me and Nikki." Mandy said as she lead her over to a seat.
Seth looked over at Brie with concern as Artem walked in the room.
"Good morning, everyone! My name is Mr. Chigvinstev. I'm you're new Enlgifh Lit teacher for the year." Artem announced.
Nikki looked up from her desk as he made eye contact with her. He stopped talking for a moment, forgetting his train of thought. Everyone looked around in confusion as Artem tried to compose himself. Just as he seemed to get his mind back on track, Sasha and Dean entered the room. Everyone looked up at them in amusement as Sasha tried to fix her hair. Becky shook her head in disapproval as Dean wiped lipstick from his face.
"I'm glad the two of you could join us." Artem said as they took a seat in the back.
The majority of class was just Artem going over the class syllabus and explaining his expectations. Before class was over, Artem handed everyone a small piece of paper.
"I want you all to write one word that describes you. One word that summarizes you right now." Artem said.
After everyone wrote their word down they brought them to Artem. Everyone watched in confusion as Artem began to read their papers.
"Guilty." Artem read.
Paige looked down at her lap uncomfortably.
"Unappreciated." Artem said as he looked over at Nikki.
She tucked her hair behind her ear uncomfortably.
"Heartbroken." Artem continued.
Becky looked over at Seth curiously as her chest tightened.
"Happy." Artem read.
Roman smiled back at Becky.
"Torn." Artem read.
Alexa looked at Miz from the back of the room.
"Worried." Artem read.
Sasha watched as Miz looked over his shoulder at Alexa.
"Regretful." Artem read.
Roman thought to himself for a moment before he looked over at Brie. She looked back at him, not hiding the fact that she had written it.
"Invisible." Artem read.
Corey adjusted himself in his seat uncomfortably.
"Vengeful." Artem read.
Dolph stared at Paige in the front of the room.
"In love." Artem read.
Renee winked at Paige.
"Not enough." Artem read.
Carmella looked down uncomfortably.
"Angry." Artem read.
Bayley took a deep breath as she tried to calm her nerves.
"Hurt." Artem read.
Sami tapped his pencil on his desk awkwardly.
"Imposter." Artem read.
Becky immediately knew that was Sasha's.
"Sorry." Artem read.
Sami thought to himself for a moment, hoping that it was Finn's.
"Trapped." Artem read.
Seth glanced over at Becky curiously.
"Jealous." Artem read
No one seemed to know who's that was.
"Unwanted." Artem read.
Mandy looked down uncomfortably as Seth let out a laugh.
"Was that last one you, Ambrose?" Seth asked.
Becky looked over at Seth with disappointment as Dean jumped out of his seat.
"What the fuck did you just say to me?" Dean asked.
Seth stood up and got in Dean's face.
"You heard me. No one wants you." Seth told him.
Dean looked over at Becky with tears in his eyes.
"Hell.. you're own father didn't want you." Seth told him.
"He's not worth it." Becky said as she got between Dean and Seth.
She looked into Dean's eyes with sympathy.
"It's not worth it." Becky told him.
Everyone watched with intrigue from their seats as Dean began to back down.
Becky grabbed Dean's arm and started to pull him away.
Roman watched uncomfortably as Dean followed Becky out of the room.
"Have a seat, Mr. Rollins." Artem told him.
Nikki watched with concern as Seth sat back down.
In the hall, Becky watched as Dean punched his locker.
"I fucking hate that guy!" Dean yelled furiously.
"Dean, you need to calm down." Becky told him.
He looked over at her as a tear fell down his face. Becky rushed over and comforted him with a hug. He buried his face in her shoulder as she held his head.
"I'm sorry, Dean." Becky said with an ache in her chest.
"I've gotta get out of here." Dean told her.
"No. You're not skipping on your first day." Becky told him.
Dena looked at her and laughed.
"Okay, then." Dena said in amusement.
"Just play it cool. Don't show him you're upset. He don't deserve to see your tears." Becky told him.
"Is this advice from past experiment?" Dean asked her.
"Look.. Your father may not have wanted you but I don't really see that as a bad thing." Becky said.
"You don't?" Dean asked in confusion.
"William Rollins is a dick. So the way I see it is that you're the lucky one here. Seth is the one that's stuck with him." Becky said.
Dean smiled down at her.
"I guess that's one way to look at it." Dean told her.
"That's the only way to look at it. Anyone would have to be a fool not to want you. You're perfect." Becky told him.
Dean looked into her eyes with hesitance.
"The bells about to ring. I've gotta get to gym class. I'll see you after school, okay?" Becky asked before walking away.
Dean watched helplessly as she disappeared down the hall.
In gym class, the girls were changing when Sasha walked in. Becky looked over at Sasha awkwardly, realizing that she was the only girl in the class that she actually knew. Sasha took off her shirt with confidence, revealing her black lace bra. Becky looked Sasha up and down casually. Sasha took of her pants, almost knowing at Becky was watching her. Becky turned around and took a deep breathe. Sasha smiled to herself as Becky undressed in the corner.
As the girls left the locker room Becky tried to avoid Sasha. When they made their way into the gym, the guys were already setting up for dodgeball. The only person Becky recognized out of the guys was Seth. And after what he said to Dean she was furious with him. Everyone split up into teams. Seth looked across the gym to find Becky staring a whole through him.
"Oh, god damn." Seth said.
The second the whistle blew to start the game Becky picked up a ball and threw it directly at Seth's head. He ducked down quickly, as he watched the ball smack the wall. Seth looked back at Becky nervously as she picked up another ball. Sasha literally walked to the front line and jumped in front of an incoming ball.
"Oh dang. I guess I'm out." Sasha said as she walked off the floor.
Seth spent the entire game trying to block balls that Becky's was throwing at his head. By the end of the game it was down to Seth and Becky. Everyone watched with intensity from the bleachers as Becky and Seth both picked up a ball. Seth looked across the gym at her and dropped his ball. Becky walked forward with tears in her eyes as she threw a ball directly at Seth's face. He could've moved but he didn't. Everyone let out a gasp as Becky's eyes widened in surprise as the ball nearly took his head off.
"You idiot! Why didn't you move?" Becky asked him.
The girls gym teacher, Lita, blew the whistle.
"No head shots, Becky. You're out. Seth's team wins." Lita told her.
Becky's face turned red with rage and Seth let out a slight smirk while he held his face.
As the girls began to go back to the lockeroom, Sasha stopped Becky.
"Are you okay?" Sasha asked her.
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" Becky said before walking away.
In the hall, Bayley was walking to her locker when someone bumped into her.
"Damnit!" Bayley said in frustration as she dropped her books.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there." Finn told her.
"Story of my life." Bayley mused to herself as Finn began picking up her books.
Finn looked up at her and let out a small smile.
"You're a cheerleader, right?" Finn asked her.
"Unfortunately, yes." Bayley told him.
"I've seen you a few times at practice. You look a little different." Finn told her.
"Yeah.. I'm trying something different." Bayley said.
"Different looks good on you." Finn told her.
Bayley looked down in embarrassment as she began to blush.
"I guess I'll see you around?" Finn asked.
"Yeah. I'll see you around." Bayley said as he walked away.
"Who was that?" Carmella asked as she approached Bayley.
"Finn Balor." Bayley told her.
"Didn't he just move here from New York or something like that?" Carmella asked.
"Yeah, I think so." Bayley told her.
That day at lunch, Roman was sitting with Seth, Miz, Nikki, Mandy, and Brie when Becky walked in with Dean. Roman waved her over but she didn't see him. Becky and Dean sat down at a table.
"Is this where you usually sit?" Dean asked her.
"No. I usually just go to the library and study during lunch so I don't have to come in here." Becky told him.
Dean let out an uncomfortable smile as he was once again reminded of how badly she suffered last year because of Roman. Suddenly, Sasha sat down next to Dean.
"Can I sit here?" Sasha asked.
"You already did, didn't you?" Becky asked.
"It's fine." Dean told her.
Becky looked across the table at Sasha uncomfortably.
"So did she tell you that she nearly took Seth's head off in gym class?" Sasha asked Dean.
Dean looked at Becky in confusion.
"Dodge ball." Becky informed him.
"Oh." He said.
Roman looked across the cafeteria curiously.
"Should I go over there?" Roman asked.
"Obviously." Seth said under his breath.
Miz looked over as Alexa walked into the cafeteria. Before he could call out her name, Sasha beat him to it.
"Lexi!" Sasha yelled.
Alexa walked over and approached the table with caution.
"Sit with us." Sasha invited her.
Becky looked at Alexa in annoyance as Dean began to get uncomfortable.
Miz and the others watched as Alexa sat down next to Becky, across from Sasha.
"Well damn. He's stealing all your girls, isn't he?" Mandy joked.
"I'll just stay here." Roman said.
Seth looked up at him and shook his head in disapproval.
Alexa gave Sasha a smile as they began to eat their lunch.
"So the two of you are still friends?" Becky asked casually.
"Of course we are." Sasha said as she smiled back at Alexa.
"But didn't she sleep your boyfriend?" Becky asked seriously.
Dean looked across the table at Becky nervously.
"We've been friends forever, Becky. We're not going to let some guy get in the way of that again." Sasha told her.
Alexa looked down awkwardly.
"Well if it were me I wouldn't want someone in my life like that." Becky said.
Dean looked around the table with caution not sure what Becky was doing.
"Well it's not you and it's none of your damn business." Alexa told Becky.
Sasha looked over at Becky with concern, hoping she wouldn't let Alexa get to her. Dean watched as Becky looked at Alexa furiously.
Sasha has think quick of a way to deescalate the situation.
"So Dean.. who's better in bed, me or Lexi?" Sasha asked in attempt to change the subject.
Dean nearly choked on his food as Becky and Alexa turned their attention to Dean.
"Yeah. I'm not answering that." Dean told them.
After lunch, Nikki was walking down the empty hall when she saw Artem in his classroom. She knocked on the doorway and let herself in.
"Can I come in?" Nikki asked him.
"Of course." Artem told her.
Nikki walked over and sat down at a desk.
"Sorry I came in here, I just had to get away from my friends." Nikki told him.
Artem walked over and shut the door so they could have some privacy.
"So you're hiding?" Artem asked her.
Nikki looked up at him and let out a sigh as he sat on top of the desk next to her.
"I am at full capacity with secrets right now. I know things that I really wish I didn't.. and if I tell anyone then I am betraying one of my friends.. and if I don't tell anyone then I am betraying another friend. It's just so exhausting." Nikki told him.
"It sounds like you feel a little unappreciated." Artem told her.
Nikki laughed to herself.
"You caught onto that did you?" Nikki asked him.
"With everything you do for the cheer squad I figured it was you. But I had no idea about all that other stuff." Artem told her.
"I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't want my friends to get hurt." Nikki said.
"I don't think it's your place to tell. Whatever is going on it sounds like it's between them. Just let things play out themselves." Artem told her.
"That's your advice? Do nothing?" Nikki asked.
"I know you care about your friends but sometimes you just need to focus on yourself." Artem told her.
"Focus on myself?" Nikki asked in confusion.
"Let your friends know the position they are putting you in. Don't put so much responsibility on yourself to look after them. You're friends are all grown up, just like you. They can handle their own problems." Artem told her.
"You sound so wise. I guess that because of the age difference." Nikki joked.
"I'm only five years older than you. It's not much of an age difference." Artem assured her.
Nikki let out a slight smile as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
"I'm serisous about the focusing on yourself thing. You need to relax a little and have some fun." Artem told her.
Nikki stood up with hesitance and began to leave the room.
"Thank you.. for the talk." Nikki told him.
"Anytime." Artem said as she left the room.
That day after school, Renee and Corey made their way into the schools editorial room to find Mr. Heyman waiting with a small brunette wearing glasses.
"What's going on?" Renee asked in confusion.
"Renee, how are you?" Mr. Heyman asked.
Corey looked over at Johnny Gargano curiously.
"I know that the plan was for you to be head writer of the papers this year.." Mr. Heyman began to say.
"The plan? You told me that I was the head writer." Renee told him.
"Yes. But Aj pointed out to me that since you're on the cheer squad now you may not have as much time to focus on the paper." Mr. Heyman told her.
"Who the hell is Aj?" Renee asked furiously.
The small brunette offered out her hand with a smile on her face.
"That would be me." Aj told her.
Renee looked at her seriously for a moment, rejecting her hand shake.
"The new head writer of the school paper." Aj informed her.
Renee looked at Mr. Heyman in disbelief.
"She will handle all the major articles and you can cover announcements." Mr. Heyman told her.
"Announcements? Are you kidding me?" Renee asked in frustration.
Aj looked out the window and saw the cheerleaders heading for the field.
"Oh, don't you have to go?" Aj asked her.
Renee stared at Aj for a moment before storming out of the room. Corey stood there awkwardly before offering out his hand.
"I'm Corey, by the way. Nice to meet you." He introduced himself.
Aj shook his hand happily.
"Okay, let's get to work people! Aj ordered everyone as if she were in some major newspaper room.
Corey and Johnny looked at each other.
"You know it's just the two of us right?" Corey asked.
"I know. I just liked the dramatic affect." Aj told him.
Outside, Paige was trying to calm Renee down before practice.
"I hate her!" Renee told Paige.
"I'm sure you're over reacting." Paige said.
"Her and her nerdy little glasses have no right to take over my paper. That spot was mine.. Where the hell did she come from anyway?" Renee asked furiously.
"It's just a school paper, Renee." Paige said.
Renee looked at her in disbelief.
"You know how important that paper is to me.. don't you?" Renee asked her.
Paige looked at her cluelessly.
"My brother wrote for the paper?" Renee tried to remind her.
Paige still had no clue what Renee was saying.
"Unbelievable." Renee said before walking away.
Paige threw her bed back in frustration as Dolph walked outside.
"Girl troubles?" Dolph asked her.
"Your car. Ten minutes." Paige told him before walking away.
Before practice started, Dean was tossing the football with Sami when he saw Sasha stretching. She bent down and touched her toes as Dean began to tilt his head.
"Dude!" Sami yelled as Dean checked out Sasha backside.
"I'll be right back." Dean told him.
Sami rolled his eyes as Dean rushed over to Sasha. She stood up and let out a smile as Dean approached her.
"Can I help you?" Sasha asked him.
"Get over here." Dean said as he grabbed his arm and pulled her over to him.
Sasha let out a playful laugh as he leaned down and kissed her. Sasha tried to fell something other than being turned on as Dean grabbed her waist.
"We're still on for tonight aren't we?" Sasha asked him.
"Definitely." Sasha told him.
Dean smiled down at her as he walked back slowly.
"See you then." Dean told her before running back to the field.
Sasha watched with a smile on her face for a moment.
"I haven't seen a smile on your face like that in awhile." Becky said as she approached her.
Sasha looked back as Becky uncomfortably.
"Or are you faking it?" Becky asked.
"What was crap you pulled at lunch?" Sasha asked her.
"She's not your friend, Sasha." Becky said.
"And neither are you, so why do you care?" Sasha asked.
Becky looked at her seriously.
"Imposter.. That was you wasn't it?" Becky asked.
Sasha looked down uncomfortably.
"You've been hiding behind your relationship with Miz for years..and now Dean?" Becky asked him.
"I'm not hiding with him. I'm really trying." Sasha told her.
"Do you hear yourself right now?" Becky asked.
"Becky." Sasha said.
"You shouldn't have to try to feel something for someone. You should just feel it." Becky told her as she glanced out to the field at Roman.
"In my experience, having real feelings for someone does more harm than good." Sasha told her.
Becky looked up and saw the tears in Sasha eyes.
"Sasha, I didn't mean-." Becky began to say before Sasha walked away.
Finn looked out from across the field and saw Bayley practicing with Carmella and waved. Bayley let out a smile and waved back.
After practice, Renee rushed back inside to the editorial room. Johnny and Corey were talking at a desk when she approached them.
"Where is the new girl?" Renee asked.
"She went out to get some scoop for a story." Corey told her.
"What? Mr. Heyman never let me do interviews. He said this was just a simple school paper and that we didn't have to do all that extra work." Renee said in confusion.
"Aj was pretty convincing." Johnny told her.
"I bet she isn't even that great of a writer." Renee told them.
Corey and Johnny looked at Renee awkwardly.
"What?" Renee asked.
"She showed us the article she's working on. It's actually really good." Corey told her.
Renee looked at him in disbelief as Aj returned to the room.
"Here, blondie. These are the announcements for tomorrow." Aj said as she handed her a piece of paper.
Renee looked at her furiously as Corey and Johnny got their things and prepared to leave.
"We're done for the day." Corey told Aj.
"Nice work, boys." Aj said as they left the room.
Renee stared a whole through Aj as she went back to her desk and began typing.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Renee asked her.
Aj looked up at Renee in amusement as she approached her desk.
"I've been waiting two years to be head writer. You can't just come in here and-." Renee began to tell her.
"Why?" Aj asked.
"What?" Renee asked in confusion.
"Why do you want to be head writer?" Aj asked her again.
Renee looked down at her curiously as she thought over her question.
"My brother. He wrote for the school paper before-." Renee began to tell her.
"Before what?" Aj asked as she stood up.
"Before he killed himself." Renee told her.
Aj looked into Renee's eyes with sympathy.
"He wanted to be a journalist. And to him.. this paper was his way to get where he wanted. I never saw him happier than when he was writing." Renee told her.
Aj fixed her glasses and looked down casually.
"Okay, But we're going to need coffee." Aj told her.
"What?" Renee asked in confusion.
"If you are going to co-write this article with me then we are going to need some coffee. It's going to be a long night." Aj said.
"Co-write?" Renee asked curiously.
"Are you coming or not?" Aj asked as she headed for the door.
Renee stood there in confusion for a moment, completely confused by what was happening.
Corey walked into the diner to get a milkshake to go. He looked over and saw Carmella wiping tears from her eyes as she sat alone.
"Is everything okay?" Corey asked as he approached her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Carmella assured him.
Corey looked down at her for a moment.
"Are you hungry?" Corey asked her.
"I'm starving." She told him.
"What do you want? It's on me." Corey told her.
"You don't have to do that." She told him.
"I want to." Corey said.
Carmella looked up at him and smiled.
"Then I'll have a bacon double cheeseburger with two small fries and a vanilla milkshake, please." Carmella told him.
"Okay then.." Corey laughed to himself as he went to get her order.
Finn was making his way out to the parking lot when Sami stopped him.
"Can we talk?" Sami asked.
"I don't have anything to say to you." Finn told him.
"So that's it then? I tell you that I'm in love with you and you just run away?" Sami asked.
"I told you I'm not ready for this!" Finn yelled at him.
Sami looked into his eyes seriously for a moment.
"Then I'll wait for you." Sami told him.
"Just leave me alone, Sami." Finn told him.
As Finn began to open his car door Sami walked towards him and pressed his lips against his. Finn felt his chest tighten as Sami held his face. As they pulled away, Sami saw the tears in Finns eyes.
"I can't do this." Finn told him before getting in her car.
Sami stood there helplessly as Finn drove off.
Inside, Corey brought Carmella her food as he sat down across from her.
"So why two small fries? I mean why not just get a large?" Corey asked.
"I've been going to this diner for years, Corey. I know their games." Carmella told him.
"Oh, do you now?" Corey asked in amusement.
"The average small fry here has about seven to ten fries. But the average large fry has about twelve to fourteen fries. That's only like a five fry difference. They're totally ripping people off." Carmella said as she took a bite of her burger.
Corey let out a smile as she looked at him with mustard on her face.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Carmella asked.
"You've got something-." Corey said as he slowly leaned across the table.
Carmella looked into his eyes with caction as he used his thumb to wipe the mustard off her lip.
"There. All better." Corey told her.
Carmella looked down with a smile on her face as she began to blush.
At the cafe, Renee and Aj had sat down at a table.
"So when are you going to tell me what this article is about?" Renee asked her.
"It's about Nikki Bella. She's your captain, right?" Aj asked.
"Yeah." Renee said.
"I was looking for someone who represented what Arlington Heights High is all about. When I talked with the teachers, Mr. Chigvinstev told me about Nikki. He says she's like the Michelle Obama of the school." Aj told her.
"Well.. she's a little hotter than Michelle." Renee joked.
"I know, right. That's what I was thinking." Aj laughed.
Renee looked across the table at Aj as she watched her smile.
"What can I get you guys tonight?" Becky asked as she approached their table.
"Becky? I thought Paige was working tonight?" Renee asked in confusion.
"No, she's not." Becky told her.
"That's weird. I could have swore that she told me she was working tonight." Renee said.
"We'll have two coffees, please." Aj told Becky.
"Coming right up." Becky said before walking away.
Aj watched curiously as Renee pulled out her phone and text Paige.
"Are you still working tonight?"
-Renee
"Yeah. It looks like it's going to be a busy night. Talk to you tomorrow?"
-Paige
Aj watched as Renee threw her phone down.
"Who's Paige?" Aj asked.
"My girlfriend." Renee told her.
Aj took a sip of her coffee as Renee thought to herself.
As Finn drove home that night he saw a familiar face walking down the street. He pulled over and rolled down his window.
"It's Bayley, right?" He asked her.
"It is." She told him.
"Do you need a ride?" He asked.
"Sure." Bayley said with a smile on her face as she got in the car.
Finn looked over at her as they drove off.
"You looked good at practice today." Finn told her.
"Did I?" Bayley asked.
"Yeah. You looked great." Finn assured her.
A smile came across Bayley's face as the song "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron began to play over the radio.
I am not the only traveler
Who has not repaid his debt
"I love this song." Bayley said.
I've been searching for a trail to follow again
"Me too." Finn said as he smiled over at her.
Take me back to the night we met
They continued riding down the street as they listened to the song.
And then I can tell myself
What the hell I'm supposed to do
And then I can tell myself
Not to ride along with you
Finn looked over in admiration as Bayley began to hum along with the song.
I had all and then most of you
Some and now none of you
Take me back to the night we met
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Haunted by the ghost of you
Oh, take me back to the night we me
"Pull over." Bayley told him.
"What?" Finn asked in confusion as she pulled out a pocket knife.
"Shut off your head lights." Bayley told him
Finn looked at her in confusion as he pulled over. Bayley got out and approached a car parked on the side of the road.
"What the hell?" Finn asked himself as he watched her curiously.
Suddenly, Bayley shoved the knife into the cars tires.
"Holy shit." Finn said as Bayley ran back to the car.
"Go!" She yelled at him.
Finn laughed as he sped off.
"Did you just slash someone's tires?" Finn asked her.
"His name is Colin Cassidy. He goes to school in Fulton and he's dating one of my friends." Bayley told him.
"And?" Finn waited for the rest of the story.
"He was supposed to come to town to see her today and ditched at the last minute. That house he was just at is Lana's house. So he's a fucking cheater.." Bayley told him.
"Wow. You really are something aren't you?" Finn laughed.
Outside of town, Dean was parked in the woods behind Sasha's house. He was in the drivers seat while Sasha straddled over him in her panties.
"Why don't we take it easy for tonight." Dean said as Sasha kissed his neck.
"Don't tell me you want to talk again." Sasha said as she looked into his eyes.
"So what if I do?" Dean asked.
Sasha let out a sigh and leaned back against the steering wheel.
"I'll give you five minutes." Sasha told him.
"Okay.. Tell me about Miz." Dean said.
"What?" Sasha asked in confusion.
"Before me.. you were with Miz and Seth. So tell me about them." Dean told her.
"Miz was my best friend. The sex was horrible and I was never really in love with him." Sasha told him.
"You weren't?" Dean asked in confusion.
"I loved him but I wasn't in love with him." Sasha told him.
"And what about Seth?" Dean asked nervously.
"He's been one of my close friends for years. After Miz and Lexi cheated on me I started sleeping with him to get over my own insecurities." Sasha told him.
"Your insecurities?" Dean asked curiously.
"Oh, and the sex was great." Sasha told him.
"Yeah.. I didn't need to know that." Dean told her.
"Are we done talking now?" Sasha asked him.
"So Seth and Miz are the only people you've slept with besides me?" Dean asked her.
Sasha looked into his eyes with hesitance.
"Sasha?" Dean asked as she took a minute to respond.
"Other than you, Miz and Seth are the only guys I've slept with." Sasha assured him.
"And what about us? What are we?" Dean asked.
"We're friends that have really good sex." Sasha told him.
"Friends?" Dean asked her in disbelief.
"Do you have a problem with that?" Sasha asked him.
"You don't have any feelings for me?" Dean asked her.
"I don't know, Dean. I'm trying." Sasha told him.
"You're trying?" Dean asked defensively.
"You're not in love with me Dean. You just want to be." Sasha told him.
"What?" Dean asked.
"Come on. We both know that you're just using me to fill a void." Sasha said.
"I have know idea what you're talking about." Dean told her.
"Yes you do. But I don't care." Sasha told him.
Dean looked up at her with pain in his eyes as he realized what void she was talking about. Sasha put her lips to his ear.
"We can use each other." Sasha whispered to him.
Sasha leaned in and kissed him slowly as she ran her fingers through his hair. Dean grabbed onto her waist as she took off her top. He looked into her eyes with almost no emotion. Sasha took off her bra as he slid down his pants. She watched as he put on a condom. Sasha has already taken off her pants so she just slid her panties to side. Dean held his member as he gently ease himself inside her. Sasha looked down at him and let out a gasp as she began to ride him in the front seat of his car.
At Roman's house, he was drinking a beer as he shot hoops outside.
"Your parents are still out of town a lot, huh?" Brie asked as she walked into the back yard.
"What are you doing here?" Roman asked her.
"I don't know, actually. I was driving around town and for some reason I ended up here." Brie said.
Roman threw down his ball and took a sip of his beer.
"What was that in class today? What do you regret?" Roman asked.
Brie looked up at him helplessly.
"It's not important." Brie told him.
"Yes it is, Brie. What do you regret?" Roman asked her again.
"I regret not telling you how I felt." Brie told him.
Roman looked at her and closed his eyes in disappointment.
"Last year I thought we had time.. I thought-." Brie began to tell him.
"Brie." Roman tried to stop her.
"When you came back that summer and told me about Becky I knew I was too late. My time was up." Brie told him.
"I can't hear this right now, Brie." Roman said.
Tears filled her eyes as she felt the distance between them.
"I'm in love with her, Brie." Roman reminded her.
Brie felt her heart sink down into her chest as she heard those words from him.
"I know. And it's not fair of me to come here like this but I just had to tell you once. I had to get it off my chest." Brie said.
"You're right, Brie. This isn't fair. You should go." Roman told her.
Brie turned around and walked back to her car with tears in her eyes.
Roman threw his head back in frustration as he himself began to cry.
Alexa was just getting home that evening when Miz approached her at her car.
"Lexi."Miz said as he walked up to her.
"I can't talk right now." Alexa said.
"Can you please tell me what the hell is going on? Everything was perfect between us then now you won't even talk to me." Miz asked.
Alexa looked up at him apologetically.
"I lost Sasha once and it ruined my life. Then recently I thought I lost her gain but that's not what's happening.." Alexa said.
"What do you mean"? Miz asked her.
"She's giving me another chance." Alexa told him.
"So you're choosing you're friendship with Sasha over me? Do t you think it's a little late for that. I mean if your friendship was that important to you then you wouldn't have sleet with me in the first place." Miz said.
"I cannot believe you just said that." Alexa told him.
Miz saw the disappointment on Alexa's face and knee he fucked up.
"Lexi, wait. I didn't mean-." Miz began to say as she walked off.
That night as Seth's house, he and his parents were just finishing dinner.
"I mean it, Seth. You do everything you can to keep that bastard off the team." William told him.
"I already tried that, dad. He's not so easy to get rid of." Seth said.
"I don't give a damn! You get rid of him!" William yelled.
"Don't you think your being a little drastic?" Seth asked him.
His father picked him up and shoved him against the wall.
"You do what I say and you don't question me!" His father yelled in his face.
Seth fought back tears as his father stormed off down the hall. He got up and saw his mother grab a bottle of pills from the cabinet. She obviously thought Seth wasn't watching her as she swallowed a pill. Suddenly, Seth's phone buzzed.
"Pool house."
-Becky
Seth walked outside in confusion as he made his way into the pool house, still feeling upset from his father's actions. Becky was standing in the living area waiting for him.
"Is everything okay?" Seth asked as he walked towards her.
As he faced her, Becky looked into his eyes. Suddenly, she slapped him across the face. Seth held his cheek for a moment before looking back at her.
"Dean didn't deserve that today." Becky told him.
"I know. I fucked up." Seth said.
"You think this is easy for him? His own father walked out on him and you think it's okay to use that against him?" Becky asked.
"I wasn't thinking." Seth told her.
Becky looked into his eyes and could tell that he was upset.
"How the hell do you do that?" Becky asked him.
"Do what?" Seth asked.
"I came here ready to kill you and now I just-." Becky began for tell him.
"Just what?" He asked.
"I should go." Becky said as she headed for the door.
"Was that you in class today? Trapped?" Seth asked.
Becky stopped in the doorway and thought to herself.
"Why do you feel trapped, Rebecca?" Seth asked her.
She turned around with tears in her eyes.
"You know why." Becky said.
"No, I don't.. Because you haven't actually said it." Seth told her.
She stood there helplessly as his chest began to tighten. Seth watched with an ache in his heart as a tear streamed down her face.
"Because I'm in love with you." Becky told him.
Tears filled Seth's eyes as he stared at her from across the room.
"Rebecca." Seth said.
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I don't want to hurt anyone and everything is a mess now-." Becky began to tell him.
"What do you need? Just tell me what I can do to make you stop hurting." Seth asked her.
"Can you hold me?" Becky asked him.
Seth walked across the room and grabbed her in his arms. Becky felt her heart grow warm as she cried into his chest.
"Come on." Seth said as he lead her to the couch.
They sat down and got comfortable. Seth put his arm around Becky and threw a blanket over them. Becky let out a few more sobs as Seth held her close.
"I'm sorry I hit you in the face during dodgeball." Becky told him.
"It's okay. My team still won." Seth laughed as she rested her head on his chest.
