{Part Three}

Exusiai followed quickly behind Texas, her footsteps small and light. "Are you going to kill Lappland?"

"Do not doubt it as a possibility." Texas said through gritted teeth. If Penguin Logistics falls apart, Lappland is going to pay. I don't care if she's new. She is not going to destroy the one thing I hold dear. I won't allow it. I've worked too hard to get here for it to all fall at my feet.

Texas burst into the training barracks, eyes scanning every inch of the padded floor. No sound save for the occasional footsteps in the hall or Exusiai's voice. The shorter girl peered over Texas's shoulder, following the other's gaze. "I don't think she's in here,"

"She is," Texas cut her off, stepping inside the room and raising her head, sniffing the cool air. The smell of sweat, rubber, metal, and plastic filled her nose. She stood still, ears twitching. I know she's here. She practically lives in this room, what with her desire for destruction.

Exusiai stood at the door, eyebrow raised. She knew Texas well enough to know that when she was mad, you'd best stay back. Her 3 years of combat experience made her deadly, and her lack of apathy created a shield around her that no one could break. While Exusiai was extremely friendly and caring, nothing she ever did could put a smile on Texas's face.

A shuffle of feet was heard to the left of the room, then a tall female figure walked in from the showers, hair still damp and pressed against her back. She wore a simple black coat with shorts, black scars along her legs. Her eyes landed on Texas, and a smug smile crept onto her face. "Wasn't expecting company. Like what you see, Tex?" Lappland sat down on one of the benches and began to slip on her sneakers.

Texas glared at her, hands clenched into fists at her sides. "You were the one that blew up the lab, weren't you?" The anger bubbling up inside her was begging to surface. But she had taught herself a long time ago to never let her emotions show.

Lappland shrugged. "Eh. I don't know. Things blow up all the time. Doesn't mean it was my fault."

"That mission was for scoping and interrogating only. I do believe that you were explicitly told not to cause damage whatsoever. Your insistent love for violence is going to get you killed." Texas said.

"Then I die, big whoop." Lappland slipped into her final shoe and stood. The smile she wore was one that told the world she didn't give a damn what happened, as long as it happened her way. She made her way to Texas and stopped an inch from her face. Lappland was a foot taller, forcing Texas to have to look up to meet her gaze. Lappland's grey eyes were daunting and mischievous, full of danger. The thick scar on her left eye showed that fear itself was afraid of Lappland.

Texas held her ground. She wasn't about to back down from the likes of her. A warrior protects their home. And Lappland was stomping all over it.

Lappland chuckled, crossing her arms. "It's not like anybody died."

"You don't know that." Texas retorted. "In the aftermath of an explosion, there is smoke and ash. That affects breathing. People could suffocate and choke, might even die of asphyxiation. Then the Logistics is blamed and could get sued, even shut down."

Lappland rolled her eyes dramatically. "God, your annoying. One mistake and you turn into my mom. Chill, Tex. Logistics isn't getting shut down."

Texas opened her mouth to argue when a frantic knock sounded at the door. Lappland and Texas turned, both of their attention still on each other. While Lappland thrilled at arguing, Texas didn't care as long as she got her point across.

Exusiai pulled open the doors to reveal Amiya, the public face of Rhode Island and top executive of Penguin Logistics. Her large bunny ears sat atop her head, her thick jacket ending at her knees. She looked worried, her eyes wide.

"Amiya? What's wrong? I was just in the middle of watching Texas and Lappland fight, you should watch with me." Exusiai said with a smile.

Amiya shook her head. "No time for that. We have a problem."

Texas felt herself stiffen, her brain automatically conjuring up all the possibilities that the problem could be. Whatever it is, I'll do anything to make it right.

Amiya looked directly at Texas, her short frame causing her to look up. "Penguin Logistics is in danger."

Texas's blood ran cold. Her head felt heavy and her legs felt like they couldn't support her. She turned and glared at Lappland, silently telling her it'd be best if she left.

Lappland shrugged. "Whoops."
