Always standing in the same place

"You know this is the best way to calm one's mind", Jin said. 

"I'm pretty sure I knew that before you did ahjussi," Rain smiled at him while sipping on a warm cup of caramel macchiato that would heal any soul, "Coffee can fix almost anything".

"Who are you calling ahjussi?! I just turned thirty years young", Jin frowned, wrinkling his nose.

Rain laughed and said, "Who knows how many years you have lived in that other realm while you maybe thirty here"

"I'm telling you I'm just thirty!", Jin said as he frowned deeper scrunching his brows up, making Rain laugh even more. They sat in the kitchen where the sun's rays made different patterns on the wooden table. A few moments of silence passed where both of them stared out of the kitchen window, out at the lush green fields that seemed to have no end. Patches of daisies and pine trees lay scattered throughout the field like cinnamon sprinkled on warm milk. The leaves whispered with the gentle breeze as the grass waltzed in the bright sunlight to the birds' madrigal.

"You said you have light as a power, can you show me something?", Rain asked.

Jin smiled. He joined his palms together and closed his eyes. A wide eyed Rain stood up with her mouth agape as he started glowing, starting from his joint hands till it spread though his entire body. She gasped when he opened his eyes, his irises were no longer the usual black but instead glowed pink with black bordering his iris. Jin twisted his hands until they were perpendicular to each other and separated them wide with his palms facing the ceiling and immediately the entire kitchen was bathed in blinding white light. 

Rain felt as if the kitchen had disappeared into a white room with only herself and Jin remaining in place. Suddenly she was brought back to the kitchen and she stared at Jin, absolutely stunned. His irises returned to being coal black but his hair was ruffled, the pink lock in them standing out in attention. 

Scratching the back of his neck he asked, "Did you like it?"

Rain nodded with a wide smile on her face and said, "Amazing is an understatement! It feels as though you can control the sun and the moon and the stars! Did you know that you were glowing and your eyes changed colour?"

"Yeah I did, my eyes change colour whenever I use my powers", Jin said smiling shyly.

"Do the eyes change colour for everyone or is it only you?"

"No it happens only with me, the others already have their eyes the colour their power suits", Jin explained.

"Hmm...you said you all have powers to protect, so how do you protect with light?", Rain asked.

"I have control over the intensity of heat and the brightness of the light I produce and any such light produced by a citizen of Velros can weaken the dark forces as they are you can say allergic to light just the way vampires in stories are allergic to sunlight", Jin explained.

"Hmm interesting, Ashlene mentioned that I also had powers which I apparently lost due to the power that struck me and I'll have them back when I turn twenty-two...do you know what they were?"

"No I have no idea what your powers were nor do the others...for all that I know your mother had protective powers where she could conjure shields that could cover areas wider than that field outside, with the strength to burn every single dark force that touched it, alive"

Before Rain could reply, Yoongi appeared out of thin air beside Jin making her jump out of her skin. 

"If you are done with your chit-chat, we have work to do", saying this he nonchalantly disappeared again without giving Rain a single glance.

"You'll get used to him and Hoseok in your head in sometime don't worry, now we have to head over to the library", Jin said as he took both of their cups and stood up.

"I hope I do and why are we going to the library?"

"We have to discuss last night's events, the monsters have been appearing way too frequently over the past few days but last night it was different", Jin said as he placed the cups in the sink and walked to the kitchen door beckoning Rain to follow him.

On reaching the library, Rain looked round the room. Yoongi was leaning against a table and beside him Jimin sat on the armchair. Just as Jin pulled out two chairs Namjoon stepped out from amongst the shelves and sat on of them ignoring an annoyed Jin.

"You can come sit here", Jin told Rain.

"No, no. I'm fine with standing, thanks", She replied and saw relief wash over him as he flopped down on the chair. He indeed is an old man she thought as she hid a smile.

"Can you tell us what exactly happened last night after you left the party?", Namjoon asked crossing his legs.

"Where are the others? Don't they need to be here?", Rain said.

"We can update them later, they had some work to do", Jin said.

"Last night after Ashlene told me to leave I drove until something fell on the roof of the car and then appeared under a street light a few feet away from where I was. It was some sort of a cross breed I suppose"

"Which breed?", Namjoon questioned.

"I'd say it looked like a wolf but not too much", Rain said and Namjoon nodded and she continued, "The oddest thing about was that every sound was muted, neither could I hear myself scream nor the downpour. For a moment I thought my ears stopped working. I guess there were two of them or maybe one... I don't know. I think Hoseok will know more about that"

"Hoseok told me you got out of the car the second time you saw the creature? Why did you do that when it was plain dangerous?", Yoongi spewed.

Shifting her gaze to his she defended, "The creature had a piece of Ashlene's dress in it's mouth. I had to go"

"No one in their right mind would do that. Even jackasses have the instinct to save their asses.", Yoongi said.

"You would too, when you think that someone you love is in danger", Rain replied as her eyes narrowed. You are the jackass here.

"Wait. You got out of the car before Taehyung got to you?", Jin asked disconcerted.

"Yes. I did."

"How did you throw it off your tracks then?", Namjoon inquired.

"Slashed it across the eye with a broken piece of glass and then ran until Taehyung found me."

Silence blanketed the room. Jin's eyes widened, Namjoon paused in the moment and she saw something change in Yoongi's eyes as he looked her in the eye. Jimin whistled and said, "We've got ourselves a fighter and a runner. It won't take that long to train her."

"What?", Rain asked bewildered.

"It took each of us at least around three weeks of training and developing our powers to outrun even one of the Lysanders", Yoongi said.

"Lysanders?", Rain questioned.

"Lysander is the name of the creature you saw yesterday. It means liberating, in the sense that they kill those who like us have special powers and liberate their compressed souls. They have multiple mutations, so no one can say what one of them can or cannot do; But here we have the advantage. Hoseok's telepathy enables him to easily figure out the powers of the Lysander when he comes face to face with one", Namjoon explained.

"What do you mean by compressed souls?"

"It has been said that one's soul cannot be completely liberated when they die when they are born with powers. Like our realm there is another realm where all souls go when their physical bodies die. There, the souls live till they become complete before they leave this world", Jin said.

"That's quite....", Rain paused.

"Unbelievable?", a voice piqued from the entrance.

Rain turned around and saw Taehyung and Jungkook walking towards them. Standing next to Rain, Taehyung gave her a smile before turning to face the others. 

"They have infiltrated the entire of Seoul. Zander must know that she is here", Taehyung said.

"Who is Zander?", Rain asked.

Everyone paused as silence fell over the room. Rain paused as she watched a pained expression cross Jin's face. Yoongi and Jungkook remained neutral while Namjoon, Taehyung and Jimin furrowed their eyebrows.

"He is the one who lead the dark forces to the attack on Velros all those years ago", Ashlene answered. Turning around Rain's face contorted with worry as she saw Ashlene and Hoseok walk towards them. Ashlene gave her a reassuring look.

"Since he already knows where she is that means he also will know or must have already known where we are", Yoongi said. Namjoon nodded.

"Her birthday is not coming any sooner than three months so there is no saying that she will get her powers to fight back against them if they ever try to hurt her or take her, so training her to the best of our ability is what we can do for now", Ashlene said.

"We can protect her so she doesn't need training does she?", Jimin said glancing at Rain and then at Jungkook.

"She has a life of her own and we have lives of our own, we simply cannot commit to babysit her throughout the day," Yoongi said as he gave Jimin a sidelong glare, "She should learn to fend for herself". It was the first time since they met that Rain agreed with what Yoongi said.

"You know that it will take power to defeat those newly mutated lysanders, I suggest that one of should stay with her at least until she is fully capable with her fighting skills", Hoseok said.

"I pretty sure she doesn't need us protecting her, do you Rain?", Jin asked. Rain nodded.

"But-", Taehyung began but Jin cut him and said, "So it's decided, you will train everyday until you can protect yourself".

"I have a job...", Rain said hesitantly.

"You can ask for a leave, right?", Namjoon asked earning a 'Hmm' from her.

"So you will start your training from tomorrow with Jungkook since he fights the best amongst all of us, the rest of the day is free for you. You already have your room, Jimin will show you around the house. Stay here until you finish your training. Ashlene has already got your clothes from your house", saying that Jin stood up. He left the room after giving her a smile and a knowing stare at Jungkook and Namjoon.

"See you around", Namjoon said with a smile before he followed Jin out of the room. 

"We can talk anytime you want", Ashlene said as she smiled at Rain. "Same goes for you Ash, you don't need to hide anything from me", Rain said as she pulled Ashlene into a hug. Smiling into the hug Ashlene nodded. 

Pulling out of the hug Ashlene waved at Rain before leaving the library with Hoseok. Rain stared at their retreating backs wondering if there was more to the relationship between Ashlene and Hoseok than she knew. Turning back she smiled to herself before noticing that only Jimin was left in the room. 

With a knowing smile on his face and a twinkle in his golden irises, he approached Rain and said, "We finally get to talk to each other without anything else seeking our immediate attention"

"Agreed, every other time that I saw you there were either one of those creatures around or the atmosphere was high on emotions", Rain said as she smiled at him.

"Let's go see the mansion of a old man, shall we?"

Rain laughed, following him out.

Dear readers,

I'm back with an update on time for once in my life T_T , I'm telling ya'll the struggle is real.

Anyways, Rain is getting quite a lot of information about how things are working out and she continue to get them. So she has got herself an old man, a suspected boyfriend, a meanie, an IQ148, one with naughty vibes, a warm one and a quiet one.

Quite an assortment!

Let's hope all goes well and she doesn't encounter any such lysanders before she a fully fledged bird.
