"Ready?"
"Yep," I say as I grab my house key off the front door dresser. "Let's go."
We walk down Bellsteen street and onto Canter street. At the sixth house on Canter street, we stop.
Caesar's house is probably the brightest house on the street. The whole building is painted white and on the inside of his house it has a winter cabin-ish feel to it. He has animal fur pillows, blankets, carpets, and animal fur coats hung up at the front door. He has white Christmas lights hung up along the windows and a huge fireplace in the living room. I couldn't feel anymore cozier.
"I know what you're thinking," he said as we hung our coats at the front door. "'Perhaps I could get you some fluffy new slippers made from the heads of innocent and defenseless baby seals!'"
I smiled at this. "Are you quoting Ace Ventura? I love that movie! 'Who is this ghastly man?'" I quote back in a deeper voice.
"'Ace Ventura, pet detective. Aaaaand you must be the monopoly guy.'"
"'Hey. Thanks for the free parking.'" We whisper in sync and burst into laughter right after.
"You know your movie quotes," I say, impressed.
He laughed in return. "Of course I do," he brags playfully,"and I see you do too?"
"Well, it's hard not to remember my favorite quote in the movie."
He grins. "But really, I took no part in decorating this house."
"So, where are your friends?"
He grinned. "Their your friends too, ya know. Come on," he waved me towards the living room,"we're the first ones here. They'll probably be over soon."
"What do you wanna do while we wa-"
"Jenga?"
"What?"
"Do you want to play Jenga with me?" he pulled out a tall box that read 'Jenga' and poured out blocks onto the floor.
"Um... okay."
A game and a half through, the doorbell rang and he got up.
"I'll get the door," he said. He swiftly ran to the front door and when he got close to the door, he slid on his socks to a stop.
I looked at the Jenga tower and how shaky it was. With each passing moment, it looked like it was getting closer and closer to falling.
"Hey, Ariel." I look up to find Carrie looking down on the Jenga tower. Her hair is down this time and she has winged eyeliner and she's wearing a black sparkly dress with the same black knee high socks and combat boots she wore the other day. "Whatcha got here?" She set down two bottles of ginger ale on the coffee table.
"We were playing Jenga while waiting for you guys."
"Cool," she said as she sat on the coffee table and watched the tower as it shook a little more when the other two guys came in. "Guys! You're going to make the tower fall!" She squealed as the tower tilted to the right.
As Jack entered the room and said, "why are you dressed so fancy, Carr-" the tower tilted even more to the right and collapsed.
"Ugh, Jack!" She turned to him and squinted at him. "And I'm in a dress because I went on another date. But I feel... he's just not the one."
"None of them ever are," Jack responded.
"Ugh, can we just get settled and play a game? What were we gonna play again?"
"Ooh, I know! Let's play spin the bottle," Jack said.
