"Your mother is pretty guilty for the fight the other day," my father says.

I scrunch my face in guilt. "Where is she, anyway? I haven't seen her in days."

"You mean since yesterday?" I shrug and grab a handful of chips in a bag lying on the counter. "In her room, avoiding you."

"I'm feeling kinda bad now."

"You should be. I think you should talk to her."

I frown. "Ugh, I can't face her. After what I said, she'd never forgive me! I can't believe I said this to my own mother."

My father grabs the Doritos bag from me and eats the rest. "Hey!"

"Go talk to her."

"Fine," I say, sulking. Here goes nothing.

"Mom?" I say, knocking on the door. "Can I talk to you?"

"The door is unlocked."

I open the door and find her lying in bed with the family album in her hands. I close the door behind me. "Is it true? You want to stay with your father?" Do I? Well, I'm not really sure actually.

"I don't really know, mom. When I was fighting with you, I was just spitting out a bunch of nonsense. I just wanted to hurt your feelings right then and there. I mean...do I have to choose?" I ask as a tear rolls down my cheek.

"I'm sorry, honey. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions, thinking you didn't like your father and all. I wish you didn't have to choose, dear. It doesn't matter who you choose to me. As long as my little girl is safe and has what she needs."

"I'm sorry, mom," I say, sitting next to her and hugging her.

She hugs me back, "I'm sorry too. Love you, honey."

"Love you too, mom."
