「「A R I A 」」
"Ariana Simisola Oluwafemi, you better wake up fast! Do you want us to be late for church?" My stepmother, queen Bisola called, using my full name.
Holy mother of cheesecake! I over slept again! Jesu protect my soul.
I quickly sprinted up and ran into my bathroom, shutting the door behind me. If my stepmother found out that I over slept she would make sure I do fifty frog jumps, let's just say I have a strict stepmother, and on the other hand my father is laid back and goofy.
Most royal families would have maids all over but I loved my privacy, the only time the maids come over to my chamber is when I press the bell, positioned next to my bed. Being a princess came with responsibilities, I always had to be perfect, from my hair down to my toes.
"Yes ma! I'm taking a shower," I lied still taking my clothes off, whilst the shower ran.
Enh, taking a shower ko taking a shower ni, my subconscious mind butted in.
"Oya, hurry up. You know your father won't wait for you."
In about ten minutes I was dressed up in a long floral dress, I took my bag and put in my bible, quickly I ran downstairs, and met my parents just about to open the front door.
They were about to leave me! Hm, there is God o.
"Ah madam Aria, you would have flown to church," my father, King Oluwafemi said, looking at me. . . Probably calculating what I was wearing.
"Look at your dress like parachute. Come on let's go." He was such a tease, I laughed at the thought of my dress looking like a parachute, but I knew he was only trying to play around.
I loved my family, especially my father, he always made me laugh plus he isn't as strict as my stepmother. . . I guess that's why I'm a daddy's girl, even when my real mother was alive. My loving stepbrother, prince Joshua rolled his eyes then proceeded his greeting, "good morning to you too Aria."
Joshua was the family pet, always being mischievous with his crazy shenanigans. He is 17 years old and was soon going to be king.
After a few hours, my father's Range Rover sports made its way back into the palace, which was in the heart of Masdin, my father was indeed the king of Masdin, a large city populated with about a million people. The people of Masdin loved my father, who wouldn't? He was kind, generous and always willing to help.
My father quickly ordered for lunch, both my parents didn't really enjoy English meals, instead they preferred spicy Nigerian dishes.
Typical Nigerian parents.
"Let's go have lunch, and celebrate your last day in our house," my father spoke.
Today was my last day, living with my parents, I have spent 24 years under their roof and I finally want to have freedom. . . Not that I didn't get what I wanted, I just wanted to be much more comfortable, besides I was now a big girl.
As we walked into the dinning hall, I was greeted by the delicious aroma of moi-moi, I could also perceive the aroma of suya.
I smiled at Vera, my favorite maidservant, she cooked the best meals ever. . . Well apart from my mother and myself of course, my step mother has never cooked for us before, she always says that she isn't a cook, that's what the cooks and maids are for.
We all sat down, and ate in silence. Four spoons later, the my stepmother broke the silence, "Aria, don't forget to tell Lola that no boys should be allowed into the apartment. I don't want to hear any wahala, or else I will arrange your marriage."
My eyes shot up, I don't want to get married, especially not at this age, moreover, I'm not even done with my studies.
"Ah, mommy please no. I'll be sure to remind her."
With a satisfied smile, she continued eating the exotic fried rice in front of her. Joshua started taking about random things, making us all laugh. When suddenly, my stomach felt funny, bile rose up from my throat and I ran into the rest room, puking out what I had eaten.
What could be wrong with me?
I washed my mouth and walked back into the dinning hall all eyes were on me, "what is wrong my dear?" My father asked looking ever so worried.
"I don't know, I'm sure it's nothing serious. I probably need some rest from all, I'll be in my room."
"Are you sure? Sola can check up on you," Bisola insisted.
"No ma, I'll be fine."
I made my way into my room, then buzzed the bell which called my personal maid. A few minutes later, Vera walked in with chocolate chip cookies, "your cravings this days, princess. . . I knew you would want the usual, so I brought it."
I smiled happily. "Thank you!"
She nodded and walked away, I ate a whole jar of cookies, before drifting into sleep.
«Aria's dream:
I was walking through the baby store, looking for what to by for the little prince I was carrying in my womb.
I smile, as my eyes caught a beautiful blue overall. It would be prefect for my baby, I continued walking around the store, buying more items. I can't wait to be a mother.
End of dream.»
My body jolted up, a child? What in God's name? That's certainly impossible.
I reject it in Jesus mighty name! Any demon trying to get inside my dream get out now! Fire, fire, fire!
My eyes adjusted to my room, boxes packed everywhere. I had just texted Lola, reminding her not to bring any male into our apartment, when my bedroom door burst open.
"Hey Ari, feeling better?" Joshua asked, making his way towards my bed.
"Yeah, I feel good. . . So what's up, missing me already?"
"You wish, dad forced me to check on you."
I rolled my eyes, not believing his lie. "Come lay with me dummy."
We laid in bed together, talking about the childhood memories and all the drama we shared in the past, surprisingly when we were little, neither of us liked each other, I always thought of him an evil minion. . . He pretty much came and stole my spotlight. But eventually one thing lead to another and now, we are inseparable.
"By the way dad invited aunty Ayomide and her family over, so get ready."

Hello! First chapter complete! Hope it's to your liking, let me know what your thoughts are!
Ps: the city of Masdin doesn't exist in real life, I invented it.
To clear up any confusion about the Nigerian words in italics, I wrote down the definition:
Jesu - Jesus.
Oya- okay.
Moi-moi- beans cake, it is blended/grounded beans that is boiled in small plastic bags.
Suya- a Nigerian styled barbecued meat.
Wahala- trouble/problem.
Please vote, share and comment!
Hugs and roses🙆🌹
