I Missed You
Darryl's Pov:
It has been about two months since I last saw Zak. I don't know if he died or not since I'm no longer working at The Demonic Organization. But I hope, oh, I hope and pray that he's okay. That I'll be able to see him soon. Today, I'm doing what I've been doing the past two months. I go to Zak's house, knock on his door, in hopes that he will answer it. Though I have the key and could just easily go inside to check if he's there, it would feel so unnerving and empty if Zak isn't around. So I just stick to knocking on the front door of his house. If he doesn't respond after a while, I leave and come back the next day to do the same thing.
Each time I do it, the more uneasy and scared I get about what happened to Zak. My heart just aches more whenever I go to his house, and he isn't there. I get out of my car after I park it, and I walk up to the front door of Zak's house. I suck in a deep breath, mentally preparing myself if Zak doesn't answer the door this time either. I raise my hand and then knock on the door. I wait. Then, for a second, I believe I hear some faint footsteps behind the door. My heart rate accelerates at that, and soon enough, the door opens wide to reveal Zak.
We stare at each other in shock for a moment and just really take in each other's presence. He's okay. In sync, we let out holded in breaths that I don't either of us realized that we were holding, and then bright smiles spread on our faces. Without saying a word, I go up to Zak, grab hold of his waist with a hand, and cup his jaw with my other hand, slightly tilting his face up as I eagerly connect our lips. Zak quickly reacts as he kisses back just as fervently as I am, loosely wraps his arms around my neck, and presses his body closer to mine.
It feels like the kiss went on forever, but it actually only lasted seconds. Once we separate our lips, we let out loving sighs. Our faces still just inches apart, I say, "You have no idea how much I've wanted to do that. I missed you so much."
Zak smiles back lovingly and says, "Me too. Sorry I kept you waiting so long."
"It's fine. It's not your fault."
We stare at each other for a moment with a huge smile on our faces as I caress Zak's cheek with my hand. Then Zak says in a hushed yet genuine tone, "I love you."
"I love you too."
I then wrap my arms around Zak's waist, pulling him into a hug as I bury my face in his shoulder. Zak reciprocates the hug. I say, "Goodness, I'm so glad that you're alive..."
I then tighten my arms around Zak, squeezing him a bit in the hug. I just want to express my feelings at the moment. I then hear Zak hiss in pain and jump backward away from me. I then look at him worriedly and ask, "Wha- what's wrong?! Did I hurt you!?"
"N-no, it's okay. My wound just hasn't fully healed yet, and if there's pressure on it, then it stings a bit. But other than that, I don't feel any pain."
That's when a sudden realization hits me. That's right... he was shot in the abdomen. After an awkward moment, I ask, "Can I... see it?"
Zak looks up at me and says, "S-sure. Just- let's head inside first. Please, come on in."
I follow Zak inside and lock the door behind me. Zak then nervously looks up at me for a moment before lifting up his shirt to reveal his abdomen to me. My eyes immediately land on the bandages wrapped around Zak, helping his wound heal. The more I look at it, the more guilt settles in on how I could've done better to avoid all of this happening in the first place. Almost as if reading my mind, Zak snaps me out of my thoughts by saying, "It's not your fault, okay? I don't blame you. You didn't know about the whole plan they had against me."
"But you still got hurt... I wasn't able to protect you."
I look up at Zak with sad eyes. He gives me a sympathetic smile and says, "It was just bad timing. Otherwise, I know you would've protected me."
I look him in the eye. He looks so genuine. Then that means that he means it... he believes it. I smile back at him and say, "I would have."
We stare at each other for a moment until Zak says, "Actually... it's now guaranteed that nobody will hurt me anymore."
I raise an eyebrow and ask, "What do you mean by that?"
"Well, other than the fact that almost everyone in the spy world is convinced that I died, I quit the agency, so there won't be anyone targeting me anymore."
"Really!?
"Yeah! I have no more reason to work as an agent anymore."
"Same here...."
"Wait- what?"
"I quit being an agent as well."
"You did!?"
"Of course, how could I continue to support the same organization that tried to keep my lover away from me?"
Zak smiles, flustered at that. After a moment of consideration, I say, "Zak... I was thinking, since there isn't really any risk now of someone trying to target us, I've been wanting to do something for a while."
Zak raises an eyebrow. He asks, "What is that?"
"Is it fine if I... move in with you? I already come by so often that it's like I live here. You even gave me the key to the place. Please...?"
Zak looks at me, shocked for a moment. He then gives it some thought. He says while thinking, "That's... actually not a bad idea. I guess it would be more convenient to move in together at my house, since it's so cheap. With the amount of money that the both of us have gained from working at the agencies, and from what I have inherited from my parents, if we use our money wisely, we could live here for years without having to work."
"...So, is that a yes?"
"Of course it's a yes!"
I give a sigh of relief. I then pull Zak closer to me by the waist, which makes him jump since it was so unexpected. I grin at him and say, "That's good, because it was torture not being able to see you for two months, and now, I will be able to see you all the time."
Zak blushes at that. I then cup his cheek and bring our lips together. Zak reciprocates and kisses back with just as much passion as me. He wraps his arms around my neck, his hands in my hair, and brings our bodies closer together. As we kiss, I slowly walk Zak to the wall and pin him with his back against it. The kiss becomes more heated as I bite down firmly on his lower lip, making Zak let out a small whine, and I slip my tongue into his mouth. Our tongues tangle together, and we keep separating our lips a second for air before connecting our lips again like magnets.
It's clear just how much we have been yearning for each other after not being in contact for a while. We continue to make out for many minutes, but it might as well just be hours. But throughout the whole thing, I just become more and more excited for our future together.
