DAY ONE

THE GIRLS MEET

QUINN MCADAMS GAWKED AT THE BEACH HOUSE from the window of her cab. When she signed up to do this reality show, she hadn't considered the bonus perk of an essentially all expenses paid vacation. The cab slowed to a stop and the blonde girl thanked her driver, retrieved her luggage, and began to ascend the stairwell to her new home away from home.

Upon entering the house, she found it was completely empty. Although she was bursting with excitement and just wanted to meet the others, being the first one there did have its perks. The first being, she got to claim her bed without worrying about what anyone else wanted. She left her luggage in the entryway before tearing through the house in search of the comfiest bed. To her dismay, she realized all the beds had been removed from every room, and instead, a bunch of mattresses and blankets were left together in the upstairs living room.

"Well, I guess that's one way to ensure we get close." Quinn thought to herself, still disappointed that they would all be sharing.

She was torn away from her thoughts by the sound of the front door opening, which caused her to nearly fly down the stairs in excitement. In the doorway stood a gorgeous, tanned girl with two bags in her hands. She was biting her lip and looking around anxiously. Her posture seemed to relax slightly when she spotted Quinn, and her lips broke into a smile.

"Hi, I'm Delilah," The girl greeted, sitting her bag down to extend out her hand.

Quinn squealed and ignored the hand, opting for a hug instead. Delilah seemed taken aback at first, but eventually eased up and hugged the girl back. She released a shaky laugh as they pulled away from each other.

"Quinn," Quinn smiled at the girl, mentally deciding they would be great friends. "Come on, let's go make a drink."

Quinn snatched the girl's arm and dragged her towards the kitchen, forcing her to leave her bags at the door. Delilah leaned over the counter as Quinn got to work on the drinks, clearly experienced in the area. Food and drinks were heavily stocked, causing both girls to realize they'd made a good decision.

"Vodka cranberry okay?" Quinn asked the girl, who nodded in response.

Once both drinks were finished, Quinn slid one across the counter to the brunette girl. Delilah took one sip and winced slightly at the taste before setting it back down on the counter.

"Strong," Delilah noted, causing Quinn to smile like it were the best compliment she ever received.

Before Quinn could pester the girl with questions, they were both alerted by the sound of the door opening again. Quinn chugged the rest of her drink in one gulp while Delilah opted to leave it behind, then they both rushed to the door. They were both greeted with another gorgeous girl who was curiously studying the pile of bags on the floor. Quinn squealed before engulfing the girl in a hug that she did not reciprocate. Her arms stayed plastered to her side and her face looked mortified.

"She does that," Delilah informed her, before calmly extending her hand. "Delilah."

"Grier," The girl responded shyly, clearly relieved that Quinn had let her breathe.

"I'm Quinn," She informed with a small wave. "I can make you a drink!"

"Um, I'm okay, I think I'd rather get settled in first. Where are the rooms?" Grier replied, craning her neck to get a better view of the house.

"Yeah... About that..." Quinn started nervously. "It might be easier to just show you."

Quinn and Delilah retrieved their bags before the blonde girl led the other two to the upstairs 'bedroom.' The girl's mouths dropped as they surveyed their new sleeping arrangements for the next for weeks.

"Where will we... change?" Grier scrunched up her nose at the thought. When she signed up for an MTV dating show, she knew it wouldn't exactly be PG, but she wasn't expecting this.

"Why not right here?" Quinn wiggled her eyebrows, before giggling and shaking her head. "No, there's a bunch of other rooms. Let's check them out."

The three girls left their bags on one of the mattresses then explored the house, learning that there were 6 different large bathrooms with a dresser in each. That meant that two people had to share each of them, which wasn't a bad deal. Quinn was just relieved she wouldn't have to share a bathroom with all six girls.

This time, they hadn't even heard the front door open. Instead, they were met with the surprise of a fourth girl walking up behind them. She was shorter than the others, but gorgeous. Despite her stature, she made the other girls feel so small with her confidence. She held her head high and carried herself like she knew exactly who she was.

"Sedona Woods," She greeted, extending a perfectly manicured hand out to the three girls.

After their introductions, Quinn finally convinced the girls to go back and get another drink. Through her logic, all of the alcohol was free, they should take advantage of it. Delilah settled on her drink from earlier that she left behind, while Quinn began to fix three drinks for herself and the other two.

"Martini, dry," Sedona ordered as if she were in a bar. She took a seat in a stool, Grier sitting down next to her.

"I think I'll make two more drinks, so they're ready for the other girls who get here." Quinn thought aloud before going to retrieve two more drink glasses.

This time, when the door opened, Quinn was mid mixology and couldn't be bothered to stop. So, the other three went to greet their new housemate without her. A beauty with long brown hair cascading down in girls stood in front of them surveying her surroundings. Her tight dress screamed that she demanded to be seen, at all times.

"Hudson," She smiled and greeted the girls warmly. Her excitement seemed to radiate off of her.

After their introductions, they led the girl to the kitchen. They had informed her about the sleeping arrangements, to which she did not seem at all bothered by. She dropped her bags in the kitchen entrance and smiled at the 'bartender.'

"My kinda girl," Hudson thanked as she accepted the drink from Quinn.

Grier spun her straw around in her drink, not really in the mood to drink at the time. Her nerves were making it a little hard to just relax and have a drink, and she wondered how the other girls were so calm. Sedona sipped at the edge of her martini glass, careful to pace herself. Her thoughts were racing as she wondered if they'd be meeting the boys that night.

The door opening interrupted the silence that had fallen around them. The girls all exchanged a look before collectively making their way to the entrance. Quinn held two drinks in her hands, prepared to offer the second to the new girl.

In the doorway stood a very timid, but very pretty, girl. She had a pullover on and was crossing her arms in a way that made her look extremely small. It was clear she was uncomfortable or nervous or both as she stared at the five girls approaching her.

"Oh great, you would all be supermodels." The girl sighed as they approached.

"Oh come on, like you're not?" Delilah responded with a genuine smile. "I'm Delilah, this is Quinn, Grier, Sedona, and Hudson."

"Rosalie, but you can call me Rose or Rosie." The girl introduced herself with a shy smile.

Quinn reached out and handed the tan girl her drink. She reluctantly accepted, granting the girl a smile as a thank you. Rather than just stand around in the entrance, Sedona guided the girls to the living room, where they all took seats on the couch. They knew this was the time to get to know each other, without the influence of the boys that would soon arrive.

"So, what are you all looking for here?" Sedona questioned while sipping on her drink.

"Love," Quinn affirmed.

"Definitely, why else come?" Delilah agreed with an eager head nod.

"New experience, new friends, the money isn't bad, and if love comes too, that's great. I just don't have too high of hopes." Grier answered, to which all the girls secretly agreed.

"Ouch, why the rush on love? 6 boys in one house, free alcohol, a beach house in Hawaii, this is like my dream come true." Hudson revealed, causing Sedona to give her distasteful side eye that she noticed. "What?"

"Nothing," Sedona shook her head, before snidely continuing. "It's just, you can find boys and alcohol anywhere. If you seriously only came here for a little fun, there's a problem."

"Well, I'm here to try and find love, if I can." Rose cut through the tension, a nervous smile on her face.

Hudson shot a dirty look in Sedona's direction before trying to shake the girl's comments off. She wasn't there to make friends; she was there to have fun. At the end of the day, she couldn't care less if that girl judged her or her choices. She was fine with who she was and what she did.

For about another hour, the girls bonded and got to know each other more. At some point, they decided to divvy up how the bathrooms would be shared amongst them. They came to a pretty easy conclusion, it would go Quinn and Hudson, Delilah and Rose, and Grier and Sedona. They all got up and went their separate ways, ready to unpack in their bathrooms.

"Ladies!" A masculine voiced exclaimed, causing all of the girls to sprint in its direction. When they expected to find a handsome contestant, they instead found a 40-something man in the entrance way. "I'm Torrance, the host of Are You the One?"

"When do we meet the boys?" Hudson questioned, unable to contain her anticipation. This question earned an eye roll from Sedona

"That's why I'm here. Tonight, you will meet the boys at the first match ceremony. They're all together at a different location, but you will be in the house tonight. So, start getting ready, and come out to the gazebo at 9." With that Torrance simply nodded and made his exit.

The nerves were practically radiating off of the girls at the thought of meeting the six boys they'd have to spend the next six weeks with. Most knew that in that group, one of the boys had been paired as their 'perfect match.' Quinn and Delilah, who were both bisexual but didn't know the other was, were unsure if their perfect match would be one of the boys or maybe one of the girls they'd already met. None of them were sure how much they trusted the whole 'perfect match' thing, but whether they believed it or not, they couldn't help but be excited to meet them.

Wordlessly, they all tore off to their different bathrooms to start getting ready. They knew they would have to make a big first impression and that they needed to stand out. Each of them would accomplish that in different ways, though.

At 9 o'clock on the dot, the girls descended the large steps to their beach house and made their way around to the back yard. They hadn't taken the time to search the property earlier, and they could now see they had both a pool and a hot tub as well as a beautiful back porch.

As they walked towards the gazebo, they could see the figure of seven men, one they presumed to be Torrance. Quinn was in a tight black mini dress with high heels, her hair falling in platinum waves around her. Delilah had opted to be a bit more conservative, with a flowy red dress and red lip combo that made her look undeniably beautiful. Grier had decided on a black mini skirt and silky tank option that was a little out of her comfort zone. Despite being risqué for her, Sedona had coached her on confidence while they were getting ready, and she was doing her best to feign it. Sedona held her head high as she walked in the front in a tight red jumpsuit that showed her figure perfectly. Hudson sported a lacey black bralette with a pair of high-waisted jeans and heels, not at all uncomfortable showing off skin. Finally, Rose wore a floral romper and heels that made her wobble.

Sedona glanced back and noticed Rose teetering behind slowly, her inhibitions shining through. Sedona obviously could not have that, so she slowed until the girl reached her then linked arms with her. She marched her to the front of their small group, hoping just a bit of her confidence would rub off on the girl.

When they reached the gazebo, they finally got to lay their eyes on the boys they had been anticipating. They certainly weren't disappointed. Their eyes scanned the group as they checked them out right back. They all made their first impressions, their thoughts based entirely on looks, then awaited instructions from their host.

"Welcome," Torrance started, clasping his hands together. "You're all here, for the same reason."

The group of 12 all looked around in anticipation, waiting for the main to continue on. With a sly smile, he spoke again;

"You all suck at love."

NEXT TIME ON ARE YOU THE ONE? MEET THE BOYS, FIND OUT THE GROUP'S FIRST IMPRESSIONS, AND SEE THE DRAMA THAT'S ALREADY BREWING.
