Tomika POV

All lunch period the only thing I could do was worry about Zack. My thoughts kept wandering back to him so much that I didn't even realize when 'Lunch Lady Doris' threw a spoon full of mash potatoes in my hair. Even that couldn't shake me out of my thoughts-it just made me think about how thin Zack has gotten, like he hasn't had a good meal in awhile.

Though, luckily by the time lunch was over, I had buried my worries deep into the pit of my stomach. Thank goodness Jozie wasn't here or else all we would do is talk about Zack, we both care about him like sisters-though I think Jozie may like him more than that.

Anyways, getting off topic.

Okay, so I walk into the classroom, right? Everything's fine, not. Stepping into class was literally the BIGGEST MISTAKE I'VE EVER MADE.

I expected to be almost immediately be greeted by a mysterious boy, writing in his journal, but surprisingly, I wasn't. The class was empty, the only source of life was myself and the class the was slowly filling up. (A/n does that make sense?)

I started to panic as worry filled my heart. Shaking, I made my way to Mr. Finn's desk.

"Mr. Finn?"

"Yes, Tomika?"

"Zack's gone."

"What do you mean he's gone?" Jozie asked walking to us with concern evident in her voice.

"Just that, he's not here. I don't know where he went."

"Zack's probably just in the bathroom, don't worry about it." Summer said, coming up behind me.

"Yeah, you're probably right. I don't know what I was worried about."

Still shaken, I took my seat and waited for Zack to come back.

But he never did.

I waited.

And waited.

And waited.

But he never came.

And the weirdest part, it seemed as if Jozie and I were the only ones who noticed. Slowly, I started to get more and more frightened. I honestly just don't know. By the time school was over, I couldn't breathe.

But I knew one thing, I was going to find out what was going on.
