Gem's Perspective-

"I'll have to get Mumbo in tomorrow to look at this, I'm sorry. You may just need to buy new mics." Martyn said.

"We just did, though! These are barely even a year old." Gem sighed in frustration, her voice a bit sore from singing.

"I- I'm sorry, Gem. We can try again tomorrow but...it may just be easier to replace 'em." Martyn shrugged and Gem sighed, rubbing her temples.

Impulse wrapped a comforting arm around her, and she sighed, walking out of the room.

"This is stressing enough, why does this have to break now? It could be a month until we get new better ones and have someone install them. We only have until March to- "

"Gem, you know in March all you guys are doing is just a concert here for the spring festival, right?" fWhip asked and Gem flushed red from embarrassment.

"Yeah, we just got home from tour over the summer, we got time." Impulse said and Gem sighed.

"Right...right."

"Come on, let's get some water." Impulse smiled and he and Gem walked down the hall towards the vending machine.

They opened the door to their band's room to crash and saw Scott and Jimmy giggling and flirting.

The two flushed red and glared at the intruders.

"What?" Impulse asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Did you two- " Gem coughed, her voice leaving her. "Did you two finally kiss?" She asked, ignoring how her voice cracked.

Impulse winced as he heard her dying voice and helped open the water bottle. Gem smiled and took a sip before staring expectantly at the couple.

"If you two have to know, yes we did." Scott smiled; his arm wrapped around Jimmy's shoulders.

"Wow, I'm surprised Jimmy had the guts to do it." Impulse said, shutting the door.

"Well Joel and Lizzie also convinced me." Jimmy mumbled and Scott chuckled.

"I was thinking of forcing Scott out of the next tour unless he told you." Gem smirked, an evil glint in her eyes.

"Oh come on, you wouldn't do that." Scott said and Gem smirked.

"Try me."

Scott shut up and Impulse chuckled.

The group talked for a bit before Scott and Jimmy left to go hang out one on one, both excited for their first official date.

Impulse glanced over at Gem as she looked at herself in the mirror and brushed her hair.

"You doing okay?" Impulse asked.

"Yeah, why?" Gem tilted her head, her voice still struggling a bit, but less now.

"Gem, your voice is practically gone after like half an hour of singing. You were clearly pushing yourself out of anger."

Gem mumbled something and Impulse sat next to her.

"What was that?" He asked.

"You know too much." She whispered and Impulse laughed.

"Well that's good cause I wanna look out for you." Impulse smiled and Gem drank her water.

"So what's got you so upset? Just the album?"

"Well, yeah that but..." Gem sighs, "I don't know, it's stupid."

"No, tell me."

"Well...when I picked up Winnie the other day, Pearl told me that fWhip and Sausage were getting a lot closer."

"Isn't that what you wanted?" Impulse asked, "They're just as oblivious as Scott and Jimmy."

Gem giggled. "I mean, yeah but...I just don't know what's gonna happen after that."

"After what?"

"After they get together. Me and fWhip have never been far apart for too long. We grew up super close, went to a music college together, and now he's our tech guy and we always tour. If he and Sausage get together, I know he'd want to be with him and...I just don't know how to handle that."

Impulse nodded, humming.

"Obviously I'm happy for him, but it's just hard thinking about moving away from him..."

"You know when he and Sausage get together, that doesn't mean he has to go live with him, right?"

"I- ..." Gem hesitated.

"Think about Jimmy and Scott. You think Scott's gonna leave our band to go live on a ranch with Jimmy? You think Jimmy's gonna quit his job at the ranch and come on tours with us?"

Gem shook her head.

"I'm not saying I know what's going to happen with them, I don't. But I want you to know that no matter what, you two will always be siblings. It's not like as soon as you two have a distant between you guys your love and care for each other just disappears. Sure, you'll worry more for a bit and miss him but...that's just what happens."

Impulse rested his head on his hand.

"There's just that stage of life where we leave to go set out on a new adventure."

"Yeah, well that adventure sucks." Gem mumbled and Impulse chuckled.

"It does, yeah. But you'll find your people. No matter where you go or what you do, there will always be people to support you."

Gem looked up at Impulse and smiled.

"You're a dork, you know that?" She bumped shoulders with him.

Impulse chuckled. "Well thank Skizz for that. I learned that from him when I was moving out to college, and I was scared we would lose our friendship. I'm happy we were able to find each other again and chat like old times."

Gem smiled weakly and looked down.

"Your brother will always love you; he'll always care about you. And when you guys see each other again in person, it'll be as if nothing had ever happened since the last time you spoke."

"Yeah...you're right. Thanks, Impulse." 

"Sure thing, Gem." Impulse smiled, ruffling her hair.
