Chapter 4: Nothing More

"Hahah! Take that red shell!" Mikey shouted at Olivia, sticking his tongue out as they played Mario Kart on the Wii. Olivia grunted, picking up speed as Mikey passed him. "Stupid," she muttered as she picked hit the box with a question mark, receiving three green shells. She sighs, though she got three shells, there's a small chance she could hit something besides herself.

She pressed a button, and all the shells came out, spinning around her character, Mario. She pressed the button again, and one green shell flew to the direction to Mikey's character, Yoshi. It missed. She swore, her eye twitches as the shell hit herself. She lost one green shell. She grunted again, and Mikey snickered.

"That's ironic," he laughed, passing Donkey Kong (who was played by a computer), making himself first place. He fistpumped the air, and continued playing.

He's so cute when he laughs, though Olivia, who suddenly snapped that thought. Why did she do that? She shook her head, and received a weird stare from Mikey. She continued playing, and she threw her last shell. It hit Donkey Kong, making her smile a bit on her success. "In yo' face!" She laughed as Mikey didn't bother as he was too concentrated on the game.

She stopped her laughing as she noticed Mikey ignore her. Her eye twitched. Even if she was trying her damnest to make Mikey notice her, he didn't. In all honesty, she loved Mikey, with all her nerdy and geeky heart, even if she knew their love couldn't ne possible.

And why is that?

It all started once she witnessed Raph and Brenna's fight, resulting them breaking up. After that incident, she and Mikey had a little talk. It was one hell of a serious talk, and she had never experienced this kind of talks with Mikey.

"AH! BLUE SHELL!" He screamed as he almost dropped his controller. Olivia stopped to look at Mikey, and laughed at his weird looking appearance. His character, Yoshi, was just hit by a flying blue shell. She then took her chance to surpass him, and she did. She fistpumped, "Hah, in your face!" She stuck out her tongue as she passed the second round. Mikey grunted as he began to regain control over Yoshi.

"I hate that damn Toad," he grumbled as he slouched a bit.

As Olivia was thinking, she had a talk with Mikey. It resulted them doing something she hated. No, they didn't fight, but they did something for the greater good. After that day, Mikey ignored the flirtatious remarks Olivia did. Though, Olivia didn't receive anything from him, or so what she thought. She sighed as her thumbs got sore from pressing buttons.

"Woohoo!" Mikey passed her again, this time with the help of a red mushroom. Olivia's eyes widened as she went back being second place. "Haha!" He smiled widely, getting faster and faster. Olivia slumped, she definitely hated losing games.

Nowadays, Olivia remembered the day she did that thing with Mikey, and that thing was a promise. She made a promise that she promised to never break. That promise broke her, though. Even if she hated that one promise she made, she knew it was for the better.

"AHA, I WON!" He screamed, dropping the controller unto the couch. He then did a victory dance, making Olivia a bit irritated. "Idiot," she muttered, pressing the controller harder, making her thumbs hurt.

Back to the promise she made. That promise was the promise she hated, but avoided her and Mikey to fight in such ways Raph and Brenna did.

And that one promise is to stay just friends.
