Marie was excited, but at the same time a little bit in anxiety. <<Who knows if everything will go well? >>, she was wise among herself. Thoughts added to concerns. That day she had seen the doctor, he reassured her that everything was in order and that there was no reason to worry, yet a fixed thought was bothering her, she could not remove that thoughts from her head.
She continued to repeat herself: <<I have to chase it away. This ugly foreboding is only in my mind, I have to relax. >>
She turned on the turntable, leaned on Miles Davis' vinyl and lay down on the sofa. She tried to relax lulled by the sweet notes of Tenderly; the twins were upset that evening.
<<who knows that it doesn't make you soothe, listen with me a little bit of music. >>she said, touching her belly that now seemed like a hot air balloon.
She moved her long copper hair behind her ears and closed her eyes for a few moments, so that she could be carried away by the melody: it had been a long day for her, she felt overwhelmed by everything.
<<Marie, Marie>> called her Carl, shaking her slightly.
He smiled sweetly at her, observing her as she opened her eyes.
The woman took a few seconds before she was able to focus on her husband's face. She looked at her husband in the eyes, those sky blue eyes that she had learned to love.
<<I had to be asleep.... >>she thought. <<I don't even know how much time has passed, but I think that listening to some music has done me well, I feel less tense.
She looked Carl, who reciprocated his eyes with lovingly filled eyes.
When she first met him, he had that somewhat scurvy look when she first met him. She wanted to show some confidence and, at the beginning, those eyes seemed to be inscrutable.
As if Melanie had jumped into mind to present him, she had not been able to understand it.
<<Deeds met him. >> She constantly repeated her, unaware of all Marie's complaints, that she insisted on not feeling ready to make acquaintances of that genre; she continued to insist until Marie gave in forfeiture and agreed to meet what, in her opinion, would be the perfect man.
At that moment she would never have said so, but instead her friend's prediction proved to be correct and now Marie finds herself married with carl and brings his children in her lap, those whom she herself called two wonderful gifts.
<<Treasure>>> she turned to the man, looking at him with his eyes not yet completely open <<you returned before the expected... >>>
<< actually >> he answered her<< I am late. >>.
Marie looked at the clock on the front wall. <<Three and a half PM? >> exclaimed with a puzzled tone.
<<<How much time have I stayed on the couch? I had completely lost consciousness of the time. I really had to be asleep," she thought.
Carl headed towards the bedroom to change, turning to look at it languidly. <<I wait for you in the bedroom>> announced her.
God how much I love this man! She thought Marie among herself. Then a moment later, he felt a thick belly throbbing. <<CARL>> screamed and he ran towards her <<CARL, THE TWINS! >> screamed. Then the darkness.

Carl had just entered the bedroom and had begun to undress. He smiled as he thought that from there to a month that house would be even more joyful after the arrival of the two pests. Suddenly, while he was absorbed in his thoughts, he suddenly heard Marie screaming. What a devil happened? He asked in panic while he was getting more and more agitated by his wife.
He traveled the 20 meters that separated him from her and seemed to be endless miles, and the agitation increased when he saw her on the ground, fainted, which gave no sign of conscience.
He pulled the phone out of his trouser pocket and called the emergency number.
<<PLEASE, ANSWER! >> He cried out several times in the receiver and, finally, after moments that seemed an eternity, the rescuers answered. <<My wife is pregnant, in the eighth month of two twins!>> He shouted , prey of the most absolute panic. <<RUN, FAST! >>> He shouted even louder.
The ambulance arrived five minutes later. The paramedics checked the vital signs of the woman and placed her on the stretcher, which they then slipped into the ambulance parked outside. Carl climbed immediately afterwards. It took only a few minutes to get to the hospital. The doctors rushed around Marie, already alerted by the paramedics Then they followed the stretcher inside.
<<Treasure I am waiting for you here. >> said Carl walked in tears while watching her disappear behind the doors of the delivery room, surrounded by a multitude of doctors.
Carl was left alone, however, thought that it was a good idea to call Ted and Molly, Marie's parents, immediately to warn them that they were about to become grandparents. Unfortunately, the couple were on a cruise at that moment, as the delivery was scheduled for the following month, and they could not attend.
Carl posed the phone and was once again victim of his thoughts
What the hell has happened? He continued to repeat himself.
I can't lose her, Marie is my life?
he decided to call her mother, who rushed to the hospital in a quarter of an hour and informed her of what had happened. The woman waited with him for Marie and her twins to leave the delivery room.
As for his father, he was not allowed to appear, so he stayed on the sidelines.
Melanie had also been informed and half hour later she had
presented to the hospital.
<<<Where's Marie? >> asked to Carl, the man answered that she had been in the delivery room for two hours and no one had yet given him news.
She continued to ask him questions about what had happened, but Carl didn't have an answer, the truth was that he didn't have the faintest idea.
<<God but why the devil they take us so much, because nobody gives me a fuck of response? >> I was unknowing in prey to panic and despair.
Two more hours had passed since Melanie arrived. Anxiety devoured him to such an extent that he believed he would go mad if someone had not given him immediate answers.
He continued to go back and forth in front of that cursed door that divided him from Marie.
<<why they take us so much? >> he said to himself.
He felt that he was about to collapse, when he finally saw the doors open a doctor coming to meet him.
<<Mr Stephens? >> Carl nodded and the man answered. <<I am Dr. Roberson. >> said watching him bent.
<<How are my wife and the girls? >> asked with some anxiety.
<<The girls are fine. We put them in incubator. I am sorry, there have been complications: your wife hasn't done it. >>
A burning pain burned Carl's soul, who fell to the ground with his face in his hands.
The whole universe had collapsed on him, she was all her world and now he had nothing left.
