Fourteen: Flashbacks
Taehyung's doesn't know what to make of himself at the moment.
He's standing right here, in front of this body length mirror, looking at himself dressed with the snugged and well-adjusted tux that's fitting well on his body. Since he returned to Orchids, he has been working out a lot more, so everything fits him more fitted to his body than before - capturing every contour and angle perfectly.
Taehyung can't deny he looks utterly handsome right now. Black just looks good on him, especially with his now scarlet red hair. It wasn't by choice, looks like Karma went on an impulse rampage and decided to dye his hair red in declaration of him doing whatever he wanted without giving a fuck about anyone else.
Well, more so an aim directed to boss.
Lately Karma has been a little relentless, and no one - not even himself - understands as to why. He's always agitated, wanting to rebel, and has this obsessive need to have Jungkook notice him through those acts.
Him and Valencia have been a bit bizarre when it comes to him - Valencia leaps out in need to be physically close to him or affectionate, and Karma just needs his attention somehow - whether it's good or bad attention.
The rest aren't so emotional about him as those two, but in some way, they know after reading that file with him that there's more to their relationship than meets the eye.
So, Eden and Tigresa are constantly on guard in making sure to be aware of their surroundings or little things of what people say, meanwhile Taehyung is there to just keep the cover without looking suspicious.
They all rely on him to make sure it runs smoothly.
However, Taehyung did have planned today in speaking with Jungkook about this and figuring out ways on how to dig deeper. Honestly, Taehyung can't do so much from his side because Boss knows how to keep his lips sealed, so it's important to discuss with Jungkook on the next steps from here.
The most he can do now is observe and report what he sees.
Just like now.
A knock suddenly snaps Taehyung's attention, maybe startling him for a moment, just as the door to his bedroom opens - revealing Wheein. The woman is dressed in a haunting silk dress, somehow making her features glow with such sharp and tenderness with the rose touch of her ruby lips. She looks like a walking Shakespear sonnet, seconds from pouring the beauty yet tragic details of their story.
A fantasy that has lasted this long.
Based on Jungkook's file, he was a widow before he met Taehyung. If Taehyung fell for his charms, he knows it has to be because Wheein wasn't in the picture. He'd never cheat on someone he's with, and based on his old memories with her - the ones before Jungkook - he loved her too much to fall for another man so easily.
Tigresa always suspected something to be different about her, and they'd know since Tigresa was the first to take notice in Wheein when they met.
So, this woman, who's standing right behind Taehyung with hands soothing over his shoulders, is possibly not even his wife.
And his Wheein likely isn't.... Even here anymore.
The thought tightened a knot in Taehyung's throat, staring at her familiar features with her staring right back to him with that dazzling smile. Something about that smile seemed too real to be fake, and maybe Taehyung prefers being in denial.
But..... He knows this isn't right.
Unfortunately.
He's been waltzing with a lie for too long.
So, Taehyung takes one of her hands from his shoulders and pecks her palm, turning around to face her, "You look stunning."
Wheein's smile glowed wider, wrapping her arms around Taehyung's neck as he snakes his around her waist, "I could get used to the red hair."
Liar, she always used to fight Karma about dying his hair red.
Taehyung flinches to Eden's harsh remark in his head, but he strained his smile tightly on his lips, hugging her comfortably as he begins to sway her side to side. Wheein giggles to his charming act, letting herself be swayed by him and to his soft humming between the air.
He continued to hum the tune between them, closing his eyes and for a moment having everything feel familiar.
For a moment, it was as it was.
She was the woman who introduced love to him, for the first time.
The one who they both raised a child with.
His best friend.
Until Wheein spoke.
"That's a nice tune, from where did you hear it?"
Taehyung stops moving.
Even his humming stopped too, now the room being filled with silence.
Just.... Silence.
The denial he felt now couldn't be blinded, no matter how many times he tried to make excuses for the little things he has noticed, but this - this is something he couldn't shrug off.
And his heart grew cold.
So.... Cold.
This is their song.
Their wedding song.
She didn't know their wedding song, and she chose it since it was the same song they had their first dance together on their first date.
It was special to both of them.
Now Taehyung pulled away and looks so deeply into Wheein's eyes, and it's as though everything he tried to make excuses for began to be clear as light before his illusion.
This moment here being what shifted from beauty to tragedy.
Shes standing right there, in front of him, yet Taehyung has never felt such a cold shiver of loneliness spread through his body. How in a matter of seconds everything was crushed, and he couldn't continue to entertain this fantasy for long.
Even if he knew it wouldn't last.
It hurt more than he expected.
So, Taehyung strained a pained smile, nodding softly to her, "From someone special."
Wheein's smile still remained caringly wide, placing a hand on his cheek and rubs his skin softly, "It's nice to remember, isn't it?"
Taehyung silently looks at her, breathing in those features that made him fall in love once upon a time - keeping it engraved in his head, since he knows there will come a time where he won't see it again besides from his head.
"Thank you for introducing what love was to me," He says to her, somehow hoping it could reach the real Wheein within the air, "I'll never forget you."
Now Wheein's smile twitches, slowly moving away from her beam to now a heavy frown, those words slicing right through that artificial grin. Taehyung can see how it impacted her, and he can see how confused she was to receive it.
Luckily, she didn't have to because a knock suddenly hits the door.
"Min Yoonmin sir."
Taehyung's body evidently relaxes upon hearing the familiar voice from the other side of the door, thankfully having someone intervene from this ending possibly more complicated than it needed to be.
Wheein quickly went to gather her composure when Taehyung told the kid to come in. The door opens to reveal the familiar raven-haired boy, holding onto that piercing stare that could crawl into someone's skull and snap it apart.
Taehyung needs to plan on how to make him and Jungkook get together for a whole day because he has so many characteristics like him, it's literally insane. Maybe that's why Taehyung feels comfortable enough around him, since he's someone familiar in a strange way.
He gives Taehyung comfort with his presence alone.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt," Yeosang bows quickly, glancing between Taehyung and Wheein, "Boss requested for you two to come down soon."
Wheein nods with a false smile, and Taehyung only caresses her arm, "Tell Namjoon I'll be there soon. I must speak with our new recruit."
Once again did Wheein nod and moves to walk out the room, with Yeosang offering her a tight smile as she leaves. Once she officially walked out the room, Taehyung through Valencia forced the door closed.
"You're not going to the Gala kid?"
Yeosang looks around briefly to the room and shakes his head, "Negative sir, I'm just a recruit."
Taehyung adjusts his blazer while looking at the mirror, humming, "That is correct, you are a mere recruit," And then he turns to look at him, "But you're my shadow. Sometimes to gain the experience you need to be here is through hands on experience, not just fist training in a basement all the time."
So Taehyung goes through his closet, trying to find something from his younger years, "Besides, I will need someone to watch my back for what I'm going to do."
Yeosang furrows his eyebrows, "What are you planning to do sir?"
Taehyung smiles when he finds a clean tux from deep in his closet, the first tuxedo he was gifted for his first event here in Orchids - which also holds the horror story of his first official kill. As he holds it up, it only brought a strong tug in his body to the sight of it, and he can't understand why.
So, he swallows it down and holds it up to Yeosang, "It should fit perfectly, change quickly."
"You still didn't answer my question."
"Where's the fun in spoiling the details?" Taehyung snickers, shoving it to his shoulders, "Just know you're going to be important tonight."
Yeosang still didn't seem quite sure, but he didn't hesitate in taking the offer. Taehyung did expect a bit of a fight from him, since he is the stubborn type, but he undoubtably trusts Taehyung - and that's something he can't seem to understand how he developed that so quickly.
Yet, he likes it.
"You've got to be fucking joking."
It's been an hour.
A whole sixty minute, three thousand six hundred seconds - still counting by the way.
And Jungkook is in complete denial, and not the passive kind either. Since he's a former marine, the man was anything but gentle when it came to interrogations.
Best believe Hwanwoong is even regretting the second he was born by this point. Sure, he has seen this side of him a few times, but not this intensely.
It's fucking terrifying and he hates how it's pressuring him.
"Well by this point I don't even know if I'm an existing human beingbecause of how much you're doubting me," Hwanwoong exasperates, glaring to the barren wall of the intensive training room they're in - where there's no cameras - while being tied up, "For the last time, what I'm saying is true! I am Kim Taehyung's son. We survived the incident because of Jimin and Yoongi -"
"We?" Jungkook is in seconds on the chair in in front of him, that firm stare in his expression, "As in everyone in that car -"
"Yeosang is alive if that's what you're referring to."
For a moment, just a sheer moment, the life was returning to Jungkook's body as he sat there, staring at Hwanwoong with his lips parted. The denial that was once coating those maniac eyes are now mellowing down, fogged with this quivering smile in disbelief - as if making sure he didn't make it up in his head.
But just as quickly as that hope flashed his eyes, so did doubt. Now he looks at Hwanwoong with eyes narrowed, leaning forward with his elbows resting on his knees, "How should I know you aren't lying kid? Or have been a spy this whole time?"
Hwanwoong purses his lips, and raises his hands up while levitating the rope, "I would've escaped a long time ago out of impatience if I was lying," And he returns his hands back behind the chair, tying the rope back once again, "Ask me anything you want."
Jungkook grinds his teeth together, doubtfully, "I don't know what to ask you since you're Taehyung's kid -"
"I'm your kid too," Hwanwoong interjects, something in his eyes seeming a bit offended, "You know me. Ask whatever comes to mind, don't pressure it."
Just like the file said, Jungkook and Taehyung were running away with the kids and had an accident that supposedly killed them off but turns out they ran away, faking the death, living on their own during the time being.
Meaning Jungkook raised Hwanwoong too.
But Jungkook has no memory of him at all, not even a single glimpse of his face or interacting with him until now.
So, he asked the first thing that came to mind, "Where did we go when we ran away?"
Mind as well ask him of the empty holes in his memory.
"We hid in the woods for sixteen years."
"What happened to both Lisa and Wheein?"
"Lisa passed away during childbirth, since Yeosang's radiation was killing her from the inside," Jungkook's heart began to beat harder in his chest, "And Wheein was murdered by Orchids so Taehyung could join them, kidnapping me in the process."
Jungkook was searching for a lie through him, anything that would give it away. He would know, he was trained in detecting it by his parents, yet he didn't find a single smudge of a lie through him.
Hwanwoong was smooth, confident, and was no hesitating.
And these answers aren't rehearsed either, it's easy to tell if it was.
"If we lived in the woods together for that long, must mean you know me and Yeosang well," Jungkook follows into it, sitting back, "There's only minor things people know of Yeosang as a kid that only I know -"
"He had a stutter when he spoke long words, and he hated specifically pronouncing juxtaposition since he has a lisp, and it was obvious and clear when he would say that word fully," Hwanwoong said in a heartbeat, "He was insecure about his birthmark by his eye, so he would punch himself occasionally in hopes a bruise would make it disappear along the way. He loved having long hair since it made him feel unique, but you couldn't handle brushing over so much of his hair yet kept it for his happiness. I can go on and on about his habits as a kid, but him compared to the false memories you have in your head of him now are probably different."
Spot on.
Everything about what Hwanwoong said was spot on of Yeosang's past, and at that moment Jungkook knew he wasn't lying.
As a kid, Yeosang never would demonstrate all these things publicly, only to Jungkook because he was comfortable with him. Around Oasis, he was the ideal perfect kid, but he hid himself well since he was always reserved and didn't like strangers.
So, the fact that Hwanwoong is saying this.... It means something.
Hwanwoong knew him as a kid, gained his trust, and grow up with him.
Before Jungkook could even realize what he said, he whispered, "How is he now?"
The memory of Yeosang compared to Hwanwoong's has to be different, and at this point Jungkook wants to believe him.
He wants to envision his son.
Hwanwoong looks at him softly, seeing the clear sincerity in Jungkook's eyes, and he breaks a smile, "He's a jerk that's what he is now. He can be so cold and dismissive, but deep down inside he does give a shit. He likes being alone, but he hates loneliness for too long. Blunt too, and he doesn't care how his words may come off as to people, so much like you," Hwanwoong snicker, letting his eyes fall silently, "He has a big heart though. I probably wouldn't have made it this far if he wasn't there right beside me, like some human shield, you know? He makes sure I'm safe, and well.... You know.... Yeah."
The description of him even sounds more believable than Jungkook's own memory of him - In his head, Yeosang now is happy and bubbly. He's a cute type of kid, with a tender personality and an everlasting love. But considering how Jungkook is as a person, and Lisa as well, it wouldn't make sense for him to turn out like that.
But Hwanwoong's description not only sounds convincing, but also.... Intimate.
Jungkook eyed him cautiously, capturing the words together, "Did you.... Catch feelings?"
Snapping his head up, Hwanwoong eyes widen, and he shakes his head, "What? No! That's so inappropriate - We're brothers."
"By law," Jungkook whistles quietly, "And as far as I'm concerned, me and Taehyung aren't married. So, you two aren't related."
Hwanwoong does not know where to look, but he was quick in his response, "Look, we only knew each other all our lives, without anyone else in the picture, so maybe it's the hormones? Yeah? Or like I don't know - No! This isn't about me right now!"
Jungkook is chuckling quietly to himself, watching as the poor boy saves himself from his embarrassment, shaking his head, "Take it easy, I'm just trying to ease the tension off."
The words left Hwanwoong to relax for a moment, but then reluctantly asks, "So.... Does this mean you believe me?"
There's this seriousness that stormed Jungkook's face like a silent thunder, one that Hwanwoong wasn't sure what type of reaction he'd spat to his face.
Those few seconds of silence were torturous, but it got sliced when Jungkook evidently relaxes, "Only I knew those things about Yeosang as a kid, and you're too young to be following since that time. For now, I'll give you the benefits of a doubt, but now I need to know why you decide to be honest rather than keeping this to yourself? Assuming the purpose of this whole mission is to have me remember."
Hwanwoong now can breathe.
Wanting to practically cry out of relief, Hwanwoong releases the ropes from around his body - stretching his limbs from the position he was in, "Maybe Yeosang has a better spine for these things, but I don't," Hwanwoon admits bluntly, "I believe if you knew these details, the easier it'll be for you to remember and grow closer to me. Also, for you to help, well, all of us."
Kid is smart, well, not a surprise actually.
Jungkook knew he was bright instantly, but to think like this? Takes a lot of maturity and growing up.
Slowly nodding to him, Jungkook eyed him carefully, "I see," And he rubs his hands together, "So, I'm assuming you'd want to see Taehyung?"
This is where Hwanwoong's posture grew stiff, the blankness blowing through his face like a tender breeze, "That won't be necessary. I know I'll have my time to be reunited with him, but right now my mission is focused on you."
"Me? Okay, I get it if you want my memories to come back, but I don't understand what else could there be -"
"We want to bring Oasis and Orchids to the grounds, destroyed" Jungkook's expression falls, "For good."
Now Jungkook felt like he needed to stand up for this, processing this quietly. That's an ambitious thought, or move, and Jungkook for some reason feels this icky feeling in his chest that he didn't like - even the thought of it alone made him feel a heaviness that was an automatic rejection against the idea.
He knows this probably has something to do with whatever mind manipulation they did to him to remain loyal to Oasis, and even if what Hwanwoong is saying to him may be true and make sense - he just can't seem to follow with it.
He can't.
It physical hurts him thinking of betraying Oasis.
"Look, I'm not asking you to join me," Hwanwoong tells him, as though he could read through his expression immediately, standing up now, "All I ask is for you to remember, that's all I want.... I-I just want you to remember-"
Hwanwoong quickly was starting to get emotional by how his voice began to quiver, even start to hyperventilate a little as he fought against himself to be strong, but he was crumbling apart as though it's finally settling in how alone he is right now, without Jungkook even remembering him.
Something about seeing Hwanwoong suddenly starts to whimper and rub his throat urged an inner instinct out of Jungkook, quickly moving up to him with a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, look at me."
Hwanwoong painfully shakes his head, choking on his breaths with the tears building up his eyes, "M-My chest h-hurts and I-I feel numb - Am I going into cardiac arrest?!"
"You're not okay, you're panicking" Jungkook whispers calmly, leans down to try to meet Hwanwoong's teary eyes, but then goes to hold both of his hands securely, rubbing his skin so he could feel something to ground on, "Wanna know something funny? I think your dad is into me."
Even if now wasn't a good time, Hwanwoong didn't fight the weak smile back to him as he hears this, "Is he really? Even with his memory w-wiped out?"
"Oh you have no idea how obvious he makes it," Jungkook scoffs with his own teasing smile, "If he could visit me every day, he would, and it'd be with stupid excuses too."
Now this nudged a breathless chuckle out of Hwanwoong, "Well, somethings never changed, he always has been crazy about you."
Something about those words warmed Jungkook's soul in a very... Intimate way, and he couldn't even fight back the shivers that ran down his spine.
Knowing somewhere deep down inside, he could be crazy about him too.
It's strange, they have a strange connection, yet it simply makes sense.
It just does somehow.
Now with Hwanwoong in the picture, he knows that now it's up to him to get Taehyung to remember too.
Even if it seems like a mission impossible judging by how stubborn he is, but they have to do it fast before Namjoon ends up taking into action the plan he has discussed with them.
They don't have time.
"Won't you look at that, you still have it."
Jungkook snaps his eyes to Hwanwoong, blinking, "What?"
Hwanwoong smiles softly and looks at him gently, "You still know how to calm me down, the same way you always have - by teasing about Taehyung."
Just like that, Jungkook suddenly was gushed into a memory.
A scream brutally rang Jungkook's ears, just as he sliced the vegetables as he prepared dinner for tonight. The sound followed with the rapid footsteps, shifting Jungkook's head to turn to back.
There he sees eight-year-old Hwanwoong running, tears gushing down his cheeks as he continues to scream in his cries. Yeosang is chasing after him, screaming after him with a sputtering mouthful apology. It's not rare the times that these two fight, or have an argument, and it can be quite a show when it happens. Yeosang being indirectly blunt and Hwanwoong having a heart too sensitive can really cause a war zone in this house.
For the most part.
Taehyung is at the moment setting up for the night on safety precautions, so it's up to Jungkook to handle this.
Not like he can't, but Taehyung is more successful in these situations because of his tender nature. Jungkook knows he'd be too stiff, that's why he tends to slide away from emotional situations when it involves the kids - he's usually the one to tell them to knock it off when they're misbehaving or to order them to do chores.
Well, time to put on his best emotional face.
Jungkook sighs heavily, putting the knife down and turns around, striding painfully to where he knew Hwanwoong ran off to. Coming across the small hallway, Jungkook sees a tiny Yeosang trying to open the door to their room with a frown.
"Hwannie! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to tell you that your hair looked ugly! It was just messy from the leaves!"
Hwanwoong argued back, but it barely was understandable by how it sounded like a strangled scream while whining.
Oh boy..
Jungkook takes a deep breath and walks towards Yeosang, who quickly turns his head upon hearing the footsteps and immediately the air hitches in his throat. He stands straight immediately, quivering his bottom lip.
"S-Sir, I'm sorry -"
"Easy son," Jungkook calmly cooes, rubbing a hand on his head, "I'll take care of it. Why don't you join daddy outside? He may need your help on where to set the animals for watch."
Yeosang instantly relaxes upon Jungkook's soft tone, twitching a smile with a nod before running past him to go outside. With Yeosang it's pretty simple on parenting him, and that probably has a lot to do with their relationship.
The kid trusts Jungkook, and respects him just as much, so to have him behave isn't so difficult.
Hwanwoong on the other hand, it can be challenging.
He's emotionally impulsive, and clearly has too much of Karma's temper, but then he becomes like Valencia in being more vulnerable to it so then he starts crying - not bothering to listen to anyone and wallows in self-pity.
Jungkook has talked to Taehyung before that it probably has a lot to do with Taehyung not being so present around him, well in the past. Taehyung was the right-hand man of the Orchids leader, so he was always booked and busy, and unfortunately never having time for his kid.
So Jungkook began to believe that Hwanwoong acts like that to get his attention, explaining the tantrums. Taehyung now is more around, but clearly that's a habit that still Hwanwoong hasn't shrugged off.
Maybe now it's Jungkook's time to give him his attention too through this?
Since as Jungkook mentioned, he usually avoids handling these situations since he's too stiff, but maybe Hwanwoong needs his comfort as his father to help him as well.
With that thought in mind, Jungkook nods to himself and knocks on the door, "Son, it's dad."
Hwanwoong new immediately who it was, and it's not just because of the voice distinctions.
To differentiate the two, to the kids, Taehyung is daddy, and Jungkook is dad.
Makes it easier to know who they're referring to.
Jungkook can still hear Hwanwoong sniffling in the background, followed by the sound of the wood creaking from the other side before the sound of sliding - assuming Hwanwoong is sitting against the door now.
"I d-don't want to open the door."
Now Jungkook has no idea what to do.
Should he just barge in? Or give him his space?
It's an eight-year-old.
"Do I scare you kid?"
"No," Hwanwoong's small voice sniffles from the other side, "I-If I look at you, I-I know I'll cry because I-I'm not strong."
Jungkook frowns to the words, leaning against the door frame, "You don't have to be strong with me."
"Yes, I do. Call you sir and follow orders and do work when I do something bad."
Maybe.... Jungkook has been a little too hard on them.
Well, he has never had a child before, nevertheless two, he's still trying to figure it out.
"Do I make you feel bad when I make you do work when you do something bad? Or do chores around the house?"
"Yeah," Hwanwoong small voice trails from the other side, now calmer, "But if me and Sangie don't do chores, you and daddy do all the work and we won't learn to wash dishes, or clean branches."
"Yeah, that could be true, you'll be as useless as a rock."
"Meanie."
Despite the insult to Jungkook, Hwanwoong was giggling to his remark, now twitching a faint smile to Jungkook's lips to the sound of it, "Okay, I'm sorry I'm so hard on you. I don't want you to be scared to talk to me, okay? You don't have to be strong all the time. Just take Daddy for example, he can't call a hawk to save his life, and doesn't fail to show his disappointment to me with his tantrums."
Now Hwanwoong was laughing, having the sound bounce right out the door, "He bad at calling animals."
"Oh I'm so glad you're aware of that because it's been hard teaching him," Jungkook teases, subtly rubbing his index finger on the door with a lost smile, "But I know he can do it, with a little more time, just like I know you'll give me a big hug with a smile when you open the door to how I made you feel better."
No word was said by Hwanwoong back, and for a moment Jungkook thought this is where he fucks up, but then the door opened and Hwanwoong peaks his small head to face him.
Just as Jungkook said, he smiled widely and gave him a big hug.
Something about it felt like it reached all the way into Jungkook's soul by how sudden yet warm the embrace was, and he couldn't help but smile and hug his son back tightly.
Jungkook loves this family.
He loves his kids.
He loves his husband.
Just like they learn from him, he learns from them too, all the time.
Especially on being a better dad.
"Does this mean I can stop calling you sir?"
Jungkook busted out laughing.
The memory was hazed, very hazed, yet so clear as though it was happening in this very moment. It was right there, right before Jungkook's eyes, and he felt every single part of that memory - From caressing Yeosang's hair, to the way his finger picked on the wood feeble of the door, and that hug.... That hug.
He felt every single part of that moment.
"Sir? Are you okay?"
Jungkook's eyes suddenly shifts to Hwanwoong, seeing the boy staring at him apprehensively with the evident worry that he did something wrong.
There's a long second where Jungkook couldn't move or say anything, only let that memory remain permanent in his head.
"Yes, I'm okay," Jungkook whispers, clearing his throat now to focus on him, "Now that we're on the topic of this, I do feel relieved that Yeosang is alive, and I want to ask if there's any way I could see him?"
Hwanwoong's expression suddenly grew stiff, really stiff. Now it was Jungkook's turn to second guess himself because this is the first time he has ever saw the kid look that..... Intimidating.
He even sat back down on the chair, his gaze intently on Jungkook, before he states flatly, "No."
No?
Jungkook's face twisted, frowning, "No? What do you mean no? He's my son -"
"I don't care," Hwanwoong bluntly responds, "Right now he's on his own mission, and the last thing I would want is for you to get in the middle of what he needs to do. You will see him one day, but now isn't the time for that."
Oh he has to be fucking joking.
Flickers of rage flared up in Jungkook's body, so brutally angry that within seconds he's up in Hwanwoong's face, "If you don't let me see my son, I swear I will tell these fuckers who you truly are and rip the information out of you!"
"You won't."
Oh this kid is bold.
"You think I won't?" Jungkook laughs, "I have rarely any memory of you kid, I sincerely could careless about who you could be or what they could do to you. As long as I get what I want."
Hwanwoong didn't twitch a reaction, "You won't."
This little -
"Here's why you won't," Hwanwoong begins, sticking out his first finger, "One, I'm the only one who knows where he is, so if you want to know that information, I have to be alive and untouched."
An invisible push forced Jungkook back suddenly, surprising him by how his feet scrambled back, but then his eyes fell to Hwanwoong, who still has his pointed stare to him, "Two, if you want Yeosang to even accept you back, you will not hurt a single strand of hair on me. Just like Taehyung is insane about you, Yeosang is absolutely psychotic with me, and he will not care who he will have to hurt as long as I'm at my best shape."
Another push forced Jungkook back, this time having Hwanwoong rising to his feet, his third finger out, "Third, we both know Taehyung would rip your intestines out if he were to find out what you did to his son. Deep down inside, your feelings have not changed about him, so you would never risk being his enemy."
The final push forced Jungkook to the chair, stiff and unmovable, now having Hwanwoong smiling falsely as he leans to his face, "I could destroy this entire building with everyone in it in a matter of seconds sir, but if I haven't it's because of you. If I could do that with a simple thought, you think I'd let you turn me in after the previous points I've made? I'd say you'd want a death wish if that were the case, sir."
Oh he's good.
He real good.
The skills in his interrogation and demanding respect are unlike anything Jungkook has witnessed before, and the strategy he used is something Jungkook would often pull when someone would attempt to corner him with their want and demands.
Kid was not intimidated by empty threats, instead he fought back far too smartly before Jungkook could even realize how the kid just dominated the entire conversation to his advantage - and that was by having Jungkook spill about himself, and for Hwanwoong to use it against him.
That right there just further proved how Jungkook was there to raise him too.
This is only a tactic Jungkook has mastered on his own, well not the only one anymore.
Jungkook stares at Hwanwoong so speechless to what he did, but it also made him realize how firm this kid was in protecting Yeosang.
He risked himself as it is revealing his true identity to Jungkook, but he definitely won't risk Yeosang's life - even against his own father.
Anyone like that has Jungkook feeling sure that his son is safe.
"Alright kid, what you say goes," Jungkook sighs heavily, still unable to move, "Unfortunately we can't stay in this coziness together because I have a gala to attend - unless.... You want to make your first debut coming with me?"
Hwanwoong smiles, crossing his arms over his chest, "Now we're talking."

[Note]:
I'm sorry, but I'm loving these exchanges with the kids. It kinda builds up for the connection with Taekook, but hey, we'll definitely see more of that next chapter for the gala chapter.
Heads up now, that gala chapter will take a while to update, and the main reason because we're going to see a lot happening - It's giving The Nerds during the whole Orchids deal (Not a spoiler I promise!) But I hope you know what I mean if you read the book. But this..... Hmm... It's going to be a bit crazy, and for that, I will need a lot of mental juice and get into my emotions to write it well!
