Chapter 24: Prepare for war

Tia's POV

"Ridge?" I ask as we float over the boundary line. The crisp, fresh blades of grass still flourished on the battle field, small flowers beginning to crawl out. "Yes?" his voice calls out. The three of us are still invisible so I can't see where he is. "Are we really going to go to war with them?" I say, trying to make out where he was. Grabbing hold of a cloak, I hear Deamon grunt, "Get off" and I let go. "Probably. I don't know when, though, which is frustrating. We better warn the others." Hearing his voice drift from my right, I reach out and find a different cloak.

As we hit the cover of the trees, Ridge turns his invisibility off and hits the ground with a light thud. Deamon stays floating, glancing back towards the field. "Is it my fault?" I say softly, not wanting to hear the answer. He shakes his head and sighs, pulling me in for a hug. "It's their own fault for taking something and twisting it to make it seem worse than it already is. You were only trying to do something good for them. At least the Canadian and his apprentice understand." I nod into his shirt. "Want me to go tell everyone? Or do you want me to go spy?" I question him. Deamon interrupts this time. "It would be best if you went and spied. Liam and Mitch seem to be more relaxed around you and trust you more than the two of us. So at least if they caught you, you would be fine." Nodding, I turn to head back over the boundary line.

Ridge turns me round by my arm and his lips brush my forehead gently. "Stay safe" he murmurs, softly brushing my neck with the back of his hand before they both vanish into the trees. I smile in their direction before activating my invisibility, and jetting towards their part of the island.

I soon find them, arguing in a house with Sky. "Sky, I don't care how much you are going to offer me, I'm not doing it. It's a walking death trap. Even if you could take down Ridge the rest of them aren't going to go down easily. We are strong, but they are stronger and more advanced." Mitch argues. Sky sighs and turns round to glance outside of the window. He walks towards it, watching the clouds, trying to contain his anger. Floating up behind the duo, I whisper in between the two. "Ask him when they plan to attack" as quietly as possible. Liam jumps a little, but Mitch stays calm-he must have sensed me come in. "When do you want to do this anyway?" he asks, trying to put anger into his voice.

"About a week from now. We are already preparing the necessary soldiers for battle." he says, turning round, and pointing at Mitch and Liam. "If you two do not participate, I will have to accuse you of treason and lock you away. Jerome, too. I don't want to do it, trust me, I'm your best friend. But Team Crafted comes first!" he snaps before storming out of the door, slamming it shut.

Appearing behind them, they both turn to confront me. "What do you think you are doing, sneaking around here!" Mitch hisses, glancing towards the door. "We need to prepare to! We have families and businesses to protect." I protest, letting my feet touch the ground. "We can't do anything, we will have to battle you. We have no choice!" Liam sighs, collapsing on the sofa. Mitch sits down next to him on the arm of the chair, stroking his hair softly. "I'll make you a deal" I say suddenly after some time thinking. "What kind of deal?" Mitch asks suspiciously. "You continue to supply us with information, and we will promise not to attack you. We will also send a demigod to protect Jerome. As long as you can somehow disable Sky of the Golden Desert Eagle, we give our word you will be protected."

Mitch sighs. "I don't want to betray Team Crafted." "But if you don't then you will have to go into battle against us. You sure you want to do that?" I sneer, leaning forward. His eyes narrow at my challenge and he springs up, grabbing me roughly by the neck. I shoot a short burst of blasting power into him making him fly back and hit the wall. Liam tries to attack me in alarm, but I push him back without using any powers so that he lands with a soft thump on the sofa. "Attack us if you will, but you will fail. If you can't beat us, then join us. The choice is yours." I smirk before phasing through the door, turning my invisibility on and shooting off back to our island.

I come to a stop. Everyone is gathered in the large area between everyone's houses. Ridgedog is floating in the air, automatically taking leader position when it is in fact Lewis and Simon. Both of them look a little annoyed, naturally, but they are all too focused on the problem. Appearing in the woods, Deamon looks over at me and nudges Ridge who stops in mid speech to smile at me. Everyone turns to me, and I try not to shake-I didn't like being the center of attention. "Any news?" Ridge asks, floating towards me, but still within distance for everyone to hear him. I float towards him, talking directly to the crowd. "They're going to attack in a week from now. From what I've heard, there will be soldiers. Lots of them. That's all I know." I say before turning to Ridge and whispering about the deal I made. He nods at me. "Seems like a fair deal to me. Alright." he smiles, turning away from me. "In a week from now, we will gather at the boundary line. For now, prepare yourselves well." he finishes before drifting up to his tower, leaving the murmuring crowd behind.

Deamon and I follow, exchanging glances on the way. Drifting through the window, Ridge is pacing up and down in my bedroom and I stop in front of him. He stops his pacing to look at me. I hug him round his neck, murmuring, "It will be OK" in his ear before hopping down and going downstairs to make a drink. I felt so guilty. No matter what Ridge said, it was MY fault for going across the line, MY fault for getting caught. What kind of apprentice was I? Starting a war...I was supposed to be protecting the Yogscast, not becoming friends with some Team Crafted spy and making him bring me over the boundary line to help his friend!

Banging my head on the wall, I screw my eyes up. Maybe I should just go hand myself in. That would end the war, right? I slide down the wall, hugging my knees. If someone got hurt, it would be all my fault and nothing would be able to make it right. If someone died, how would I be able to look their friends in the eye? What if Ridgedog got killed? I knew he could get cocky sometimes and try and show off, but what if he gets shot for it? Someone entering the kitchen disturbs my thoughts and they bend down in front of me. Opening my eyes hesitantly, Ridgedog is gazing at me worriedly. "Tia, everything will be fine. I promise." he says gently, moving a strand of my hair out of my eyes. I shut my eyes again and tilt my head down.

Pulling my arms away from my knees, he slips his hands under my body and carries me upstairs into the living room where we both cuddle in front of the fire. "Deamon's gone back to Voxeltopia. He's going to go tell Feather and the rest about it. They will help us." he murmurs. This relaxes me a little. "He might kill you." I mumble, and he sighs, pulling me closer and kissing me softly. "There's a one in a million chance he will be able to kill me. It's just like a knife to a mortal. It might not necessarily kill me on the first hit is it?" he says, trying to tickle me to lighten me up. "Still." I mumble, muffled by his coat as I try and hide my laughter. "Don't go worrying about me, it's you we should be worrying about." he smiles, tickling me harder until I finally give in and laugh, squealing at him to stop and pushing myself onto the floor away from me.

He suddenly pounces on me, grinning his signature grin as he roughly begins to wrestle me. Swinging him round into the coffee table with a slight bang, I tickle his neck making him literally squeal like a little girl, batting me away. It soon becomes more serious as we begin to kiss, him roughly jamming his lips to mine and gripping my head tightly. I clench a handful of his hair, kissing him as hard as I could. I wanted to savour this moment-there might not be many chances left. My fingers undo his second button on his shirt, and he pulls away to grin at me, his eyes twinkling. "Ready for round 2?" he says smugly, and I nod slowly, wrapping my arms around his neck, clinging into him as he carries me quickly up the stairs, still grinning.

Note: Next chapter will be fully Team Crafted pov :D
