Chapter 23: Trust me

Tia's POV

Waking up in Ridgedog's arms, I stretch in the morning sunlight. My arms brush his bare chest and memories of what happened last night fill my head making me flush a little. He's still asleep, looking peaceful. I smile at him. Was this was I had expected? No. Did I want this? Yes. Did I want this to happen a lot? Maybe. Answering questions in my head caused my brain to buzz-it was way too early and I was still tired from last night's activities. I smile again at the memories. Sighing, I brush my hand through his hair, gently twisting one of his spikes round in my finger, curling it. His hair was messy, not just from bedhead but from when I couldn't stop running my hands through it. It was perfect, he was perfect, despite all his flaws. Now he was, anyway. Before, he was some evil insane demigod. Now, he was sane and he was practically a saint. He looked like an angel, too.

His eyes flicker open and he shifts, pushing the covers off of me a bit. The cold air hits me and I groan, cuddling up into his bare body, trying to grab as much heat as I can. Grumbling under my breath, I tug the sheets back over me, yanking them all off him. He glares at me, and tries to tug them back. I wrap myself up like a giant marshmallow and grin smugly at him. He rolls his eyes, before puckering his mouth up, doing his puppy-dog eyes. Melting, I gave him half the sheet back, rolling into his already open arms. Leaning back into his shoulder, I look over at him as he shuts his eyes and sighs. "Don't go back to sleep" I mutter, slapping him lightly. His eyes open again, and he leans his head on mine. "Just shutting my eyes, calm down." he yawns. I kiss him gently on the cheek as his arms tighten on my bare chest, nuzzling my cheek.

Ah, I think, delicious silence. A smile rises up onto my face and I relax on his cheek, sighing. This was how I wanted it to be, just me and him together, not saying anything, just here, relaxed. But, of course, someone had to ruin it, didn't they? "Good morning, love birds!" a cheery voice calls out, opening the giant window and letting a huge gust of wind blow into the bedroom, making us both shiver. "Deamon, we're naked under here..." Ridgedog mutters tiredly, tightening the covers around me. "I know. I came to visit you last night but you were having too much fun so I left..." he grins as I peek from under the covers to glare at him. He grabs hold of the covers, trying to yank them off. Ridgedog sighs, and sneaks further under the covers to kick Deamon where it hurts. "Asshole!" he curses, backing away. I snicker, eyeing Ridgedog as his arm snatches out to grab his pants next to the bed. He puts them on, stepping out of bed lazily, stretching. His bare chest and six pack makes my breathing falter for a second, and he winks at me.

Deamon, rather jokingly, suddenly wraps his arms around Ridge who grins and tries to wriggle away, groaning. I giggle under the sheets, stretching again and reaching for my own trousers, but realize they are too far away for me to reach without crawling out from under the warmth into the cold and Deamon's view. Snapping my fingers, my clothes move towards me, and I pant with the effort. Grabbing them and tugging them on under the bed, I sigh, rolling out. So much for peaceful silence. Looking up, Ridgedog and Deamon are rolling around, play fighting on the floor. "Calm down children" I say calmly, leaning against the bedroom wall, until Deamon's hand shoots out to pull me into the fight. Cursing, I push him away, only to feel Ridge's hands constrict my movement. "Go on, Deamon, get her!" he laughs and I squeak as he tickles me. "GET OFF GET OFF GET OFF GET OFF!" I roar, trying to hold back the laughter. Kicking him violently away, I scoot away from Ridge to run out of the window and take off into the air, leaving the laughing hyenas behind me.

Note: Deamondog and Tiamon? No? Yeah, me neither...how about Tideamondog? Yeah no. OK, let's just...let's just carry on xD

Liam's POV

We were all gathered at a meeting in the woods. It was a cold, crisp morning even though the sun was shining down on us. Stretching, I sit at a respectable distance from Mitch- we weren't ready to come out and say it yet. "Alright, starting off the meeting, a spy was caught on this Island yesterday, led by Liam..." Sky begins, glancing at me. Everyone else does too, most of the looks I got were furious and disappointed, and I look away. "It wasn't a spy, she was trying to help me!" Mitch snaps. I stare at him in shock-he was sticking up for her? "I know that now, but what this meeting is about is linked. These actions caused five demigods to also appear on the island, one of them we went to war with many years ago. You may remember him as the flying man. His real name is Ridgedog and his apprentice is the spy, Tia." "She wasn't a spy!" Mitch yells again. "Quiet, or you will be banned from the meeting." Sky says coldly. I frown at him-why was he being so serious over something that wasn't that much of a big deal?

"So we have decided it is time to declare war on them" he finishes. My face pales. War? With Tia? "No!" I yell. Everyone looks up, and discussions end. "Excuse me? Are you disobeying my orders?" Sky snaps at me. "Tia is my friend, the only friend I had before Mitch decided to like me!" I say angrily, glancing at the shocked Mitch and turned away. "She had her own troubles. Don't think her life was great. She was beaten and attacked by her own master, who I believe has changed dramatically. And besides, we can't kill him anyway..." I growl. "Oh yes we can!" Sky grins, and I frown at him. He holds up a golden gun with an eagle design on it. "This right here is a Golden Desert Eagle. I did my research and this gun is something that can kill a demigod with one shot!" Sky says excitedly. "You can't!" Mitch suddenly yells and we all stop to stare at him. "What? But...you hate Ridgedog!" Sky protests, twirling the gun in his hands.

"But Tia said we could bring him over to read Jerome's thoughts. He can still think!" he says. Everyone shakes their head at him. "Have you gone mad Mitch?" Ryan asks. "No! Tia told me!" he protests, shaking as everyone's eyes trained on him. "I know it's tough Mitch, and I know you want to help Jerome. But we can't risk them coming over all the time." Sky tries to soothe. "No! I won't let you! If you go to war with them, then I won't be helping," he growls, storming off. "Neither will I." I mutter angrily, shooting Sky a glare, before marching after Mitch. I know exactly where he will be-the basement. Hopping down the metal stairs, I open the door to see Mitch sat cross-legged in front of the cage, watching the pacing Jerome intently like it was the best television show ever.

"Mitch, I'm going to go cross the boundary line." I say finally after ten minutes of silence. He turns round with a frown. "Why?" he asks, standing up. "I'm going to go talk to Tia and Ridge, see if we can bring them over here. Tia won't let Ridge kill me, trust me." I insist. He sighs wearily and nods before going over to me and kissing me lightly on the neck, making my heart stutter weakly in protest. "Stay safe. Don't let Sky see you, or anyone else" he warns. "I won't" I promise before jogging up the stairs. Heading towards the undergrowth of the trees, I quickly sprint using the cover of shadows to the boundary line, leaping over the middle and I continue to sprint into the woods on the opposite side.

Ignoring the scratching of brambles and thorn bushes, I finally emerge in the shadow of Ridge's towering house. Tia suddenly flies out of the window, grinning back at someone before she spots me, smiling on the ground. She flies towards me. "What are you doing here? Ridge might have killed you if he saw you just wandering around." she says with a smile, hugging me. Her clothes are a little crumpled, and her hair messy. "What have you two been doing?" I ask, raising my eyebrow and she blushes. "Ew!" I hiss, curling my lip, laughing when she cuffs me round the head. Ridgedog flies out of the window, and Tia looks up at him with a smile. His clothes are also messy and his hair wild, flying out in all directions. He looks happy. Very, very happy. "Hi" he greets me politely and I try not to let my jaw drop open. He was being polite to me, a spy? He wraps his arms round Tia's waist who tries to look dignified, but ends up blushing a lot more.

"Mitch wants to...you know, hear Jerome's thoughts" I tell them, focusing my gaze on Tia. "Oh. Yeah. About that." She turns to Ridge. "Can you help Mitch hear Jerome's thoughts? He's going a little crazy," she asks with a smile. He rolls his eyes and nods. "Sure. Let's go then. You can lead the way." he says politely, nodding at me before they both turn invisible. "DEAMON COME DOWN HERE!" he suddenly roars making me jump 3 foot in the air. The demigod who Tia had met many times previously on our quest floats down, nodding at me before turning invisible as well. "Let's go!" Tia cheers, and I can hear the breeze as they take off into the air. I begin to sprint through the woods, wondering in the back of my mind if they could keep up, but I can hear the ruffles of bushes right behind me and low curses and whines that they were tearing their coat up and Tia's constant "Stop complaining" that reminds me they were immortal.

Crossing the boundary line, I sprint into our house, finally slowing down to pant a little. Shutting the door, they turn off their invisibility, and they look at me for directions. "In the basement." I tell them, opening the door for them. They quickly make their way down the stairs and open the door, me right behind them.

Mitch whips round, jumping a little when he sees Ridge. Ridgedog regards him politely before his eyes turn to the bacca who is snarling curses at him. "So you want to hear this thoughts?" Ridgedog asks and Mitch nods, eyeing him warily. Ridgedog glances once at Tia before striding over to the bacca, who backs away at his advance. Going into the cage, he lock the door behind him, before tilting his head at the bacca. "Alright, bacca or Jerome or whatever your name is, I'm going to be transferring your thoughts to Mitch, so you two can talk. I know your body can't react with them, so I don't care if you attack me." he says quietly before gripping the bacca tightly, his eyes glowing slightly.

"Um, hello? Mitch?" Ridgedog says, but it's Jerome's voice. Mitch lightens up, gripping the edges of the cage. "Jerome? Can you hear me buddy?" Mitch says. "I-I can hear you, biggums!" he says, and Mitch begins to cry. "I miss you Jerome." he whispers. "I miss you too. Kinda sucks being like this, y'know. Not the best feeling in the world to be helpless." he says. "So you have been hearing me all this time?" Mitch asks, reaching out to stroke the bacca's fur. "Yeah, I do listen to you, even when you do kinda rant about boring stuff and repeat it." he laughs, before continuing. "Mitch, don't give up on me. Don't let Sky kill me off!" he says finally. "Are you going now, buddy?" Mitch asks, his voice cracking. "Yeah, the demigod dude is getting tired. Can I do this again? I miss talking to you." he asks and Mitch nods, then remembers he can't see him really at that angle. "Of course we can. I miss you Jerome. Love ya biggums. And I'll never give up on you!" Mitch croaks, tears blinding his vision. "Don't cry Mitch. See ya later!" he says before Ridgedog releases the frozen bacca who curls up to go to sleep.

Ridgedog is panting as he leaves the cage, locking the door behind him quietly. Tia hugs him fiercely, rubbing her head on his chest. "Thank you. Thank you so much." Mitch whispers. He nods. "Anytime you want to talk to him, just send Liam over." he says, wiping his forehead. "Ridge?" Mitch whispers and he turns. "Yep?" he asks, with a friendly smile, Tia still clutching him by the waist. She turns to look at me and sticks her tongue out. "Sky is declaring war on you and he has this Golden Desert Eagle thing that can apparently kill you." Mitch says, and I gawp at him-he was giving it away? Ridgedog nods. "Is...is it true?" he asks. "Yeah, it can kill me. And other demigods." he smiles tightly and Tia looks up at him with a worried expression. "So he can kill you?" Mitch asks, almost as shocked as I am. "If he can catch me." he adds with a grin. "When I'm invisible, the bullets pass right through me. So as long as I maintain that state, I'm fine."

Tia sighs, taking his hand and he squeezes it gently. "I guess we will be leaving now. Again, you can ask me to come and let you two talk anytime." he says with a smile, shaking his hand. "Thanks" he says again with a smile. He shakes my hand too, his grip firm. "Ok. Well, thanks for the heads up and, I guess, see you later." he says, turning invisible with Deamon who waves goodbye. "See you." Tia smiles, turning invisible. The door opens and shuts and they disappear. Mitch is staring at Jerome. I ruffle his hair gently, before leaving the room. He needed time alone.
