Chapter 17: Decisions and Demigods

Mitch's POV

Standing on the winner platform, I can't help but grin. The crowds are cheering, fireworks are exploding all around me. This was what it used to be like. Sometimes it was Jerome standing up here. Even with all the crowds begging for attention he would always find my eye and smile at me proudly. I'd always smile back and cheer louder than anyone else in the arena. I didn't mind losing to him. He was my best friend, after all.

When I step off the platform holding the trophy close to my chest, Sky greets me with a scowl though excitement is still bubbling in his sky blue eyes. "Hey, traitor" he taunts, but he can't resist a smile. I grin at him proudly, shoving the trophy into his face. "I won" I laugh, and he sticks his tongue out at me. Making my excuses, I depart to my house, a wide smirk on my face. Throwing open the door, I almost go to shout my win to Liam. But I pause, remembering he is out in the wilderness somewhere. Sighing, I slump on the sofa, toying with the trophy in my hand, running my finger down the groove patterns on the side. I missed him. It was so lonely, so empty, so cold in this house. Even with Jerome downstairs.

Looking at my trophy, an idea pops up into my head and I run down the stairs, making loud clanging noises as my trainers hit the metal steps. I throw open the door, startling the now not-sleeping Jerome. Running to the bars of the cage, I almost shove the trophy through. "Look, buddy, I won" I say proudly waiting for his reaction. He stares blankly at the trophy. Then his furry hands clamp it, tearing it from my grip. I wait patiently. He inspects the trophy making garlng noises. He looks up at me, looking almost fine again, and my heart begins to pound. But then he gargles at me again and proceeds to try and eat the trophy.

Sighing, I rip it from his grasp, making him whine. He suddenly grabs my arm roughly and I try and jolt it away. But then he slowly pats my shoulder, before curling up and going back to sleep. I stare at him in awe for a moment before I grin, happiness spreading through my body like a heatwave. He wasn't totally lost, I think excitedly. There's still a chance he could make it! I knew Sky wanted me to just kill him, and give up on him. But I refused. I would stay with him till the end. And that was my final decision.

(Sorry the Team Crafted pov's are so small, I promise they will get longer soon!)

Nearly a month later...

Tia's POV

"How far away is this temple thing, anyway?" I ask, pulling myself through the undergrowth. My muscles were aching from running, and I was beginning to feel the burden of walking all the time. "Just up ahead!" he says excitedly, jumping up and down. Tilting my head, I can just see the corner of a temple sticking out underneath the low canopy of trees. Looking up at the sun which is just past the mid way point, I turn to face Liam who is already speeding towards it. "Hold up!" I stop him, grabbing his arm roughly. "What?" he asks impatiently, glancing at the temple as if it was going to disappear. "We need to rest overnight. Being tired won't help you on the challenges." He sighs and groans. "I just want this thing over with"

"I don't" I grunt back and he glances at me with a frown. "When this is over, what do I do? I can't go back to my island..." I sigh. "We'll talk more about it tonight. Let's just get a base set up" he suggests, beginning to get tired since we stopped. We climb up yet another jungle tree, making it on the lowest canopy this time. Last time we went to the top, it was so windy and cold I was surprised I didn't get frostbite. "Gonna go get a shower" I yell up to the trees. "K!" he yells back and I go over and find a small pool. Dipping my hand in, I wince and yank it out. The water was freezing cold.

Frowning uncertainly, I shut my eyes and imagine the water as warm, hot as a bath, a hot spring. Opening my eyes, there seems to be a little bit of steam drifting off the surface. Dipping my hand in, a grin widens onto my face. "LIAM!" I yell, and he soon comes running. "What?" he snaps. "The water is warm!" I grin. Peering into it, he frowns uncertainly. "You sure?" he asks, bending down. Smirking, I go up behind him. "Why don't you check?" I grin, and shove him roughly in. He yells as he splashes into it, and I hastily flick my hands now dripping with water. He resurfaces, coughing and spluttering, but he swims around in it, grinning. "You want to play that game?" he grins, suddenly grabbing my leg, making me fall onto the hard ground and yanking me into the steaming hot water. I roar at him, splashing water into his face. He does the same.

We have a massive water fight, getting clean at the same time. Both of our clothes are sopping wet, and now we just relax, floating gently on the crystal warm water. "This is awesome" I laugh lightly, eyes shut, keeping the glare of the sun from penetrating my vision. Liam hums in approval, too relaxed to say a word. Sighing, I sit up, bobbing up and down like a little rubber duck in a bath. "We need to go back to base and dry up before bed" I tell him, watching as he floats up into a sitting position and we swim back to the side of the pool. Getting out, I watch Liam struggling to. Smirking, I turn the water back to its original temperature, laughing as Liam yelps and leaps out quickly.

We play fight all the way back to the base, chasing each other round and round trees. When we finally get to the base, both of us are too tired to say a word, and I soon forget my troubles as we pass out from tiredness.

I jolt awake. Something wasn't right. Sitting up, I see Liam staring wide eyed at the open tent door. My eyes follow his gaze and I blink. Deamon is floating outside, hovering near the entrance of the tent. When he pulls away, I can see three other figures floating behind him. Scrambling out of bed, I stumble to the door, squinting at the figures. I knew exactly who they were; they were all past friends of Ridgedog. And friends of Deamon's. Featherblade, Elevn and Kupo, Kupo being Deamon's girlfriend. "What do you want?" I snap at them. I had seen them on a few occasions. When they visited, Ridgedog seemed to go into rage mode. I wasn't stupid-I knew about how Ridge got kicked off the thrown and how his ex girlfriend got pregnant and stuff. And Ridge was always accusing them of plotting behind his back, even though they swore they knew nothing about it.

"We're here to take you to Ridge" Featherblade says harshly. There's no more friendly greetings, like Deamon. Heck, even Deamon looked serious for once! "Over my dead body" I growl, backing up into the tent. Deamon nods at Kupo, who flies over to me, her usually friendly face cold and unforgiving. She grabs me roughly by my hair (what was everyone's obsession with grabbing my hair?) and I slam a fist into her stomach with the same power I had used to blast Ridgedog off me. She cries out, stumbling backwards. Deamon grabs me violently, swinging me onto the ground.

I float upwards, and fly away, all the demigods in pursuit. "STAY IN THE TENT!" I roar at Liam when I zoom past. Elevn is quick to catch up, grabbing my legs and throwing me into a tree. My bones crack and groan under the pressure, and I gurgle as blood flows into my mouth. Featherblade pushes his elbow into my neck, and I choke. Slumping onto the floor, I fight to keep concious. This was what I had been fighting for, and I would never give up! Hearing these words, I snarl and stumble to my feet, holding my hand up weakly. Power flows into my hand. I draw upon the power Ridgedog gave me, multiplying it, twisting the dimensions of it so that it would do what I wanted it to. And then I send it out, with a shrill screech it hits Elevn and the impact is deafening.

It's the noise of a bomb going off, a massive one. The smoke cloud erupts from my hand, blowing over trees, our base, flattening everything in a mile radius. I don't know where the power came from, maybe Ridge gave it me? I didn't know. All I knew that my body had been drained of all its power, a bit like when you've been on a really long walk and you finally get to your bed. You just collapse on it and lie there. That was the feeling I had. Looking up weakly, I spot Elevn collapsed on the ground, his body mangled horrible and blood pouring out of every pore. Featherblade picks him up, hissing at me before disappearing, Kupo glaring at me as she follows. Deamon pauses, shaking his head at me. "Just give up. Mexxy will be involved now" he mutters before disappearing with the others.

Liam comes running to me as my head slumps onto the ground. He holds my head up, checking for signs of life. When he sees my eyes weakly training on him, he carries me towards the collapsed base. Before I black out, I mutter Ridgedog's name before blackness envelops me...

Note: More people from the Voxelbox! :O Deamon and Kupo aren't actually together (I don't think so anyway xD) It just seemed to go well :D
