Chapter 16: It's in the blood

Mitch's POV

Streaking off into the trees leaving a hysterical Sky behind, I grin. Finding another chest, I yank it open, grabbing hold of the chain trousers and the boots with the fur. Viciously devouring the apple, I toss the rest onto the floor. Running towards a marsh, I pause for a second, memories clouding my senses. This was where Jerome and I used to meet up if we got separated. I almost expected to see him running through the trees being chased by desperate fans. But no fluffy monster came running, and I sigh as I continue running towards the witch hut in the middle of the lake.

The water is salty and stickier than I remembered with dead leaves sticking to my clothes. Was it always this hard to move in this? Grimacing at the smell, I finally yank myself up onto the ladders, hoisting myself out of the sopping wet mush. "Bajan!" a voice calls out from behind me. I whip round, falling off the ladders, roaring curses. "SKY GO AWAY!" I yell, throwing open the doors to reveal a chest with a diamond and a stick with a cooked porkchop. Pausing, I glance back at the swimming Sky. "You got a diamond?" I ask innocently. "I have two!" he grins proudly, pulling himself up. "Want them?" he smirks, holding them.

Whipping out my sword, I slam it into his wrist, making him yell and drop them. Picking them up, I chuckle as Sky yells curses at me, flailing around in the swampy mush. Turning back to the crafting bench, I pause. I could make a diamond axe. Betty. Hesitating, I turn the diamonds and the stick into a gleaming diamond axe.

Sky pauses at the door, dripping wet and staring at the axe. I hold the head in one hand and the hilt in my other. Sighing a little, I clutch it close before running outside of the door, taking a dive into the water, bobbing to the surface holding the axe from the water's dirty grasp and pull myself onto the shore just as two people come sprinting out of the trees.

It's Captain Sparklez and Antvenom-what a team! Grabbing my diamond axe, I slam it into Jordan's arm, making him yell out loud. He slams the sword into my leg. Sky suddenly barges in between us, beating him to death with a golden sword, enchanted with fire. Turning round, I spot Ant trying to flank us. Whipping out a bow, he shoots at me. The arrow embeds itself into my neck, and I mutter curse words under my breath as I yank it out. Grabbing the axe, I lunge forward, slamming the head into Ant's head, and the cannon booms, signalling his death. Ripping it out of his skull, I turn to see Sky finishing off Jordan with a bow.

Both of us grin at each other tiredly, panting a little. I wipe sweat off my forehead. "I need to brush up on my skills, it's been a while." I admit, watching the two disappear into pixels. "That won't take long. Killing is in your blood, Canadian" he grins, and I roll my eyes at him. "You're right" I sigh, turning to look into the distance. Turning suddenly, I spin my axe and strike his head clean off his neck. I grin as the cannon booms. "It's in the blood" I say to the dead body, now dissolving into pixels, before sprinting off with a laugh.

Note: I have writer's block for the Team Crafted perspective ._. sorry

Liam's POV

"Would you mind explaining to me..." I pant, "Who that was?" We've been running for hours, and I had a massive stitch. "That was the friend I was telling you about" she replies. To my annoyance, she was perfectly fine, not even a sweat. "Can we PLEASE stop before I pass out?" I groan, and the second she stops, I slump to the ground. "Sorry" she says with a grin, glancing around. "What exactly did he say to you? Before, I mean, when you went looking for food." She looks away for a minute, her grey eyes scanning the area. "He told me Ridgedog was missing me" was all she could say before she pulls me to my feet, making me stumble a little.

"But..." I protest, frowning. I was getting more and more confused at the history between Tia and Ridgedog-one minute he hated her, the next minute he liked her-what the hell was going on? "Yeah, I don't get it either" she laughs before we climb up into a jungle tree. When we eventually reach the top, her cheating a bit by flying, we set up the tent and sleeping bag, her spawning one in, and we sit and talk until the sun begins to go down. She was actually quite a nice girl, when you got past all of her gory history, and she seemed to like me too, despite the fact I was a spy.

"Phew, we've been talking a lot" I chuckle, lying backwards into my sleeping bag. "Yeah, we should probably just go to sleep..." she murmurs and I nod in agreement. I was incredibly tired after all the running we had been doing, and all I wanted to do was sleep for hours and hours. She carries on murmuring things to me but I'm not longer listening, letting her voice drone into the background as I slowly enter sleep...

Waking up, I frown. It's still the middle of the night, the opal moon shining down onto the tent, illuminating the area dimly. Looking over warily, my eyes blink a few times. Tia's sleeping bag was empty, and the opening to the tent was open slightly. Cautiously, I creep outside, grabbing the hilt of my sword as I parkour down the tree. Hitting the bottom with a light thud, I creep towards the sound of hushed voices.

Hiding behind a tree, I spot Tia and Deamon sitting on a fallen tree trunk, talking quietly. Edging closer, I pick up on their speech. "You need to go back. I know it's good being free, but all of your friends need you. Ridgedog especially." Deamon pleads. Tia seems to be silent, her face disturbed and torn. "I'm not going back. He'll just snap. My neck. Slowly. Just because he misses me doesn't mean he won't kill me for attacking him..." she trails off bitterly. "I'll be there when you come back," he suggests. Tia stands up, sighing and folds her arms tightly. "And what then? As soon as you disappear and I do something to annoy him, what do I do then? You can't stay around us forever. Even if you did, he'd find a way to kill me." The demigod sighs, standing up fluidly, and walks over to her with the stride of an old man.

He spins her round violently, but she doesn't seem to be scared. "Tia, I have known Ridge for hundreds of years. You are the only chance he has of becoming sane again. He's my best friend, Tia. And I need you to help him." She shrugs him off, walking over to the lake. She crouches beside it, dipping her hand into the water, splashing her fingers around in it. "He kills my friends, my friends who are like family to me, for his sick pleasures. Do you really want me to go back to him and keep watching him do that? Never, in a million years. I'm free now, and that's the way I want to be. Free from him. Forever." Deamon scowls at her, huffing impatiently at her. "You're a disappointment and a failure to your so called family. He might even have them now, torturing them, and the only way to save them is for you to go back. Are you going to deny their freedom for your own? If that's the case then you are no different." Tia goes quiet for a while, swirling her fingers in the water.

"He won't" she says finally. "How do you know?" he snaps, edging dangerously close to the girl, looking like a viper about to strike. "Because he won't" she says simply. He snarls at her, then hesitates. "Fine. If you ever get into trouble, don't come crying to me." he hisses before disappearing. She stands, gazing out at the lake. Before her eyes turn to mine. "It's rude to eavesdrop" she murmurs, walking swiftly over to me. "How...what..." I stutter, eyeing the spot where the immortal had stood warily. "I'll tell you in the morning." she says tiredly, and I know by her disturbed eyes she needed time to think. Alone. "Alright." I say softly, before following her up the tree.

The rest of that night, I lie awake, staring at the top of the tent. It was hard to get to sleep for some reason. Maybe it was because I could hear Tia's quiet, muffled sobs next to me as she cries herself to sleep.

Note: Sorry for the short chapter, got a bit of writers block :p
