Twenty-Eight

Allison's POV:

I pull open the library doors, revealing the waiting room of what seemed to be a train station. Dozens of people were either standing or sitting still with dull expressions.

"Out of all the supernatural things we've seen," I speak up, letting my eyes trail along with the frozen figures. "I never would have guessed a train station in the middle of the library would be one of them."

"There's also a train station in the Wild Hunt." Lydia reminded.

"Any chance they're connected?" Malia muttered.

"I would say high." Lydia sarcastically remarked as she walked further inside. "Like, one-hundred-percent!"

"If there's a train station," I say as Malia and I quickly follow behind. "then there has to be a train leading to the Wild Hunt."

Malia's eyes widen. "They're all gonna be taken."

"They can't get on that train." Lydia quickly agreed.

"Um...okay, listen up, everybody!" Malia yelled out as I crouch down in front of a doctor, snapping my fingers in his face but his expression didn't waver. "We've all got to get out of here. We gotta go right now! It's bad! We have to go!"

"Hello?" Lydia yelled in a woman's face.

"Uh, hello? Sir?" Malia snapped her fingers in front of a man's face until she raised her fist.

"Malia." I scold.

"Well, I'm out of options!" She exclaimed. "How do we get them to leave if they can't hear us?"

"Maybe there's someone who can." Lydia nodded her head towards a man across from her.

Malia walks closer and my eyes widen, seeing as Peter Hale sat on the bench with his eyes trained on the newspaper in his hands.

Olivia's POV:

"I can't believe I forgot you existed." Phoebe's voice muffled against me as I tightly squeezed her in my arms. "I knew something was wrong in my room but no matter how much I organized it, it didn't feel right. Everything that I did and saw, it never felt right. Like for god's sake, Allison and Scott were dating, I always had the car, I never fought with your mom over the bathroom--"

"Hey, hey, stop." I pull away with a brow raised, noticing the black torn stains on her shirt and the bloodied wrap around her arm. "From the looks of it, you've been doing great at handling yourself. I saw the way you didn't hesitate to take out your weapons."

"Are you kidding? With the number of Ghost Riders I fought, I was internally freaking out ninety-nine percent of the time!" She exclaimed before she gestured to her shirt. "Do you think the washer can get the Ghost Rider blood off?"

I snort, pulling her into a hug once more. "I think you're better off burning it."

"Olivia, can you believe we've been gone a couple of days and the whole place falls apart?" Stiles calls out as he steps out through the storage room and searches through another.

"No, you were gone for three months." Scott corrected, causing my eyes to widen.

"Wait three months?" My voice squeaked.

Stiles scoffed. "If they don't let me graduate, I swear to God–"

"What are you looking for?" Liam cut in, noticing some of the stuff thrown into the hall.

"Ah! This." Stiles comes out of the storage room with a nitrogen liquid tank. "And him."

Parrish lets out another roar as he strides over to us, engulfed in flames.

"Grab him. Grab him now!" I urge in which Liam and Scott to rush forward to pin him against the wall.

Stiles turns the handle on the tank and aims the nozzle towards Parrish, releasing a cold mist of air to douse him in ice. Eventually, the flames dissipate from Parrish's chest and he slowly slides down the wall with a tired expression.

Liam lets out a shriek as he scrambles to pat away the flames on his shirt. "God, ow!"

I sigh and walk over to him, waving my hand over the small flames which instantly disintegrate.

"Liam, you're fine." Stiles exasperated.

"God, that doesn't feel good, you know?" Liam awkwardly clears his throat before he meets my eyes. "But thanks Liv."

"Stiles? Olivia?" Parrish muttered. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Buddy, love you, but we're way past that, okay?" Stiles rested his hands on his hip. "You gotta fill us in. What's going on?"

"Douglas..." Parrish grunted, trying to push himself to stand but Liam and Scott quickly grab his arms as support. "He's merging the worlds so the Ghost Riders can cross over."

I furrow my brows into confusion and glance at Phoebe. "He wants his supernatural army in our world." She simply explains and I nod.

"How do we stop him?" Scott questioned.

"The train. It's coming."

"Okay..." I trail off, gesturing for him to continue. "and how do we stop that?"

"You can't stop it...but you can divert it."

"Okay, how the hell do you 'merge worlds?'" Stiles asked as the five of us carefully step over the train tracks that led into the school. "Okay, nowhere in the manual does it say that werewolves can do that, and Scott and I pretty much wrote the manual."

"We can't even move between them." Scott muttered. "Look what it took to break you guys out."

"We can't move between worlds, but we know someone who can." Liam speaks up which causes us to pause in our steps.

Phoebe's eyes lit up in realization. "Of course! Corey can exist in both worlds and take people with him!"

I nod in agreement. "I remember! When we were at Scott's house, he pulled a Ghost Rider into our world."

"At the lacrosse game, he brought us into theirs." Scott added.

"What if that's how Douglas is doing it? What if Corey's the key?" Liam exclaimed as he shook Phoebe's arm.

"Interesting theory, okay? Solid logic. It is, but he's in there, and we're out here." Stiles gestured to us. "So, the only way to save everyone now is to just divert the train."

"We have to find him."

"How?"

The corners of Phoebe's lips curve into a smile. "By going into the Hunt."

"No, no, no. See, I think you're confused." Stiles sighed. "We're trying to get people out of the Hunt."

"He can get taken by a Ghost Rider." Scott suggested but I quickly shake my head.

"And besides, it's a gamble of whether or not when you get there, you'll end up stuck like the other people in Beacon Hills." I say and pat Phoebe's back, who was staring off to the side. "I rushed in trying to find you from the Dread Doctors without a solid plan and it backfired."

"I don't need to get taken to get into the Hunt!" She explains with an excited smile. "I have an idea!"

"Okay, while I'm glad you're not afraid compared to the last time we talked but--"

"Come on, Liam!" Phoebe urged, grabbing onto his wrist and dragging him towards the school.

"Where are you going?" Stiles called out with disbelief as we watched them sprint off.

"We'll be back!"

Stiles slowly turns to Scott and I. "Were we like that?"

"Worse." Scott muttered.

I nod in agreement with a sigh. "Oh boy."

Scott gestured to the train tracks towards the woods. "Parrish said we just have to follow the tracks."

"Yeah, well...those lead into the woods." Stiles pointed ahead before gesturing behind us. "This way back into the school."

"You wanna split up?"

"You're joking, right?" I ask incredulously. "Please tell me you're joking."

"I am." Scott chuckled, wrapping an arm around Stiles and I's shoulder as we walk down the track towards the woods.

Stiles scoffed. "Never again."

"So...what is it I hear that you were dating Allison when I was gone?"

Phoebe's POV:

"Phoebe, slow down!" Liam grunted as we quickly went up the stairwell to the second floor. "What are you--"

"Down there!" I interrupt, pointing to the abandoned Ghost Rider's horse. "You have to jump and--"

"What?" He shrieked. "Why did we run up here then!"

"Because it would've ran off as soon as it saw us!" I scold, slapping his arm a few times. "Now get to it, Liam!"

"Ow! Ow! Okay, okay!" He hissed as he carefully started to climb on the railing. "I hate horses."

Before he could leap off, a pair of large arms wrap around my neck and yank me backward, causing me to let out a choked gasp.

The Ghost Rider lets out a screech as I struggle against their grasps and Liam tries to get down but I shake my head no. "Phoebe--"

"Get out of here Liam!" I grunt, slamming my elbow against the Ghost Rider's ribcage. "Go!"

He nods and leaps off of the ledge, leaving me behind in the Ghost Rider's grasp.

However, the sound of a blade plunging into the Ghost Rider's back causes the Ghost Rider to release me and I stumble forward.

I turn around, my eyes widening at the sight of Theo having the Ghost Rider in a chokehold. His hair being a disheveled mess along with his face stained with smudge marks.

"Don't forget to mark my two points for saving your ass!" He grunted with a smug expression. "So, what's the plan?"

"Liam's stealing the horse to get into the Hunt." I say in which his eyes widen.

"You're kidding, right?" He growled. "I went through all this to keep you from being taken!"

The Ghost Rider continued to wildly move in his grasp and I carefully push myself up from the floor. "Need help?"

"I'm good!" He grumbled, squeezing the Ghost Rider's throat tighter which earned a loud snap. "Okay, maybe not!"

I smirk as I unsheathe my dagger from my belt and approach the two. I slash the blade across the Ghost Rider's throat and Theo immediately drops him to the ground with a huff. "Should I be concerned or impressed that you're not hesitant about helping me?"

I pat his face with a fake smile. "After today, your life means nothing to me."

"And there she is."

"Easy horse! Easy!" We hear Liam try to say. "Stop going in circles!"

The two of us walk over to the railing and I shake my head with disappointment, watching as Liam tried to guide the horse forward but kept making the animal go in circles.

"You know how to ride a horse?" Theo snorted.

"Not really!"

I sigh and quickly run down the stairs that led to the courtyard. I carefully approach the horse's left side with a hand raised. "Easy..." I gently call and rub the side of its neck. "We're just going to borrow you for a ride."

Liam offers his hand and carefully helps me up to sit in front of him. I grab onto the reins and glance behind at him. "You might want to hold on."

"Uh...okay." He hesitantly wraps his arms around my waist and I lean slightly forward, squeezing my legs a bit and bump my heels against its side. Immediately the horse breaks off into a gallop, causing Liam to shriek. "Oh god—Phoebe!"

A portal suddenly appears in front of us, causing the horse to gallop faster, and instantly a cloud of green smoke covers my vision.

"It worked!" Liam cheered as the horse neighed once we arrived on the dirt-covered train tracks and rush towards the tunnel.

Screams immediately ensued as soon as we entered the room and I tug on the reins. "Woah!" I call in which the horse rose on its hind legs, halting to a stop. "Good horse!" I pat his neck with a laugh.

"Phoebe?" I look away from the horse and my eyes widen, meeting Hayden's and Mason's surprised expressions.

"Hayden!" I swing my leg up and over the horse's back and carefully get off, releasing the reins and sprint towards her.

I cup her face in my hands and pull her into a kiss, feeling the weight on my shoulders disappear as she held onto my arms.

She pulls away with an amused smile, tucking some of my hair behind my ear. "I never would have guessed you know how to ride a horse."

"I used to go horseback riding with my mom a lot before she died." I bashfully explain. "I was not trying to chance my life by having Liam do it."

"I could've tried!" Liam interjected, carefully sliding off of the horse to walk towards us. "I just, you know, wanted to see if you could do it first."

"Right." Mason chuckled before pulling Liam into a hug. "It's good to see you guys in one piece."

Allison's POV:

"Peter!" Malia yelled directly in front of Peter's face, waving her hand to catch his attention.

I sigh. "Malia."

"What?" She continued to snap her fingers in front of his face.

"The only way we were able to break through the Hunt is through an emotional connection." I reminded and gesture to Peter. "Then he'll snap out of it."

"Dang. Wish I could help." Malia muttered, causing Lydia and I to stare with knowing looks. "I'm not saying it. I'm not saying it."

"Okay, well, I guess everyone dies." Lydia carelessly shrugged before she nudged my hip. "Let's enjoy our last moments together before I'm left alone and end up batshit crazy forever, Allison."

Malia growls underneath her breath, making Lydia stop from turning away and she looks back down to her father. "Dad."

"Say it like you mean it." Lydia corrected.

"From the heart." I add with a small smile.

Malia reluctantly nods and crouched down in front of him, taking a deep breath. "Dad?" She softly called. "Please wake up. Dad."

Peter's grip on the newspaper drops and he slowly rises to his feet, keeping his expression neutral until his eyes landed on Malia with recognition.

Olivia's POV:

As we trekked through the tracks, Scott abruptly pulls us to hide behind the trees. "Wait, wait! Get down." He whispered.

"Ow!"

"Why are we stopping?" Stiles whispered back but Scott pointed to the lever ahead of us.

"It's there."

I worriedly look around the woods. "It's normal at this point for us that this can't be too easy."

"Yes, it can!" Stiles scolded. "It can be this easy! For once, let's do easy."

Stiles steps out of the hiding spot but Scott and I share a hesitant look before following behind.

Just as he was about to grab onto the diverter lever, the snap of a whip wraps onto Stiles' wrist. "Oh, God." Instantly he's yanked backward and his back slams to the ground.

"Stiles!"

From behind, Douglas stood with the whip in his hands wearing a smug look.

Stiles groaned as he lifted his head to us. "Or not." He disappears into a puff of green smoke and instantly I flick my wrists, igniting my arms into flames.

I lunge forward but before I knew it, Douglas aimed the pistol towards me and as soon as he pulls the trigger, my surroundings fill with a puff of green smoke.

My body crashes into the shelves, feeling the stack of books collapse on top of me which causes me to groan.

I dizzily lift my head and look around, taking note of the small storage closet. "Oh, real funny." I mutter under my breath. "Closet."

I swing open the door in time to see Stiles and Scott collide with a panicked expression.

"Out of all places I could have teleported to." I hiss, stepping over the knocked-over books and out of the storage closet.

"Well, I finally saw the girls' locker room." Stiles panted. "It's not that different. It's kind of disappointing."

Scott gestured for us to walk towards the exit. "What just happened?"

"Well given that we didn't end up at the train station again, the worlds are collapsing in on each other." I explain.

"Attention all passengers. The train will be arriving in twelve minutes." A monotone voice spoke through the intercom.

"See."

"We gotta get back to the diverter." Scott insisted and we nod.

As soon as we push open the double doors at the end of the hall, yells escaped from us as we ran into another rift.

Allison's POV:

"Attention all passengers. The train will be arriving in eleven minutes." The monotone voice spoke through the intercom.

"Me?" Peter asked incredulously. "You want me to stop them? You know how many there are?"

"Yeah–a lot of them." Malia insisted, gesturing for him to stand up from the bench. "So, get going."

"There are hundreds of waiting rooms in this train station, which apparently now also serves as a high school library." He says, looking around the building with his brows furrowed. "It's impossible."

Malia shrugged as we followed behind him to the side of the room. "We can try."

"Where do you get this implausible optimism?"

"Definitely not from my father."

Lydia sighed. "We don't have time for this. We need someone to just hear us."

Instantly the double doors swing open and the Ghost Rider strides in with a whip in his hand, leaving the people in the benches to back away in fear.

"I think we already did."

Lydia quickly moves to protectively stand in front of us. "Get behind me. They won't take a Banshee."

Peter moves to stand in front of us. "You sure about that?"

The Ghost Rider snaps his whip towards us, causing us to quickly take a step back but Peter slashes his claws across. However, his hand passes through the body, leaving the Ghost Rider unharmed but he continued to slash his hands with a growl.

As this occurred, the people in the library quickly leave the room with screams of terror escaping through their lips.

The three of us quickly sprint towards the other side but immediately skid to a stop at the sight of another Ghost Rider blocking our path. He snaps his whip towards Lydia but Malia quickly shoves her towards me, taking the hit instead with a pained cry.

"Malia!"

Peter quickly rushes forward and guides Malia to me with concern before eyeing the two Ghost Riders on opposite sides.

He grabs ahold of the bench and leaps forward, kicking the Ghost Rider in the chest and it collapses into the stairs.

"Allison!" Lydia worriedly called and I turn, seeing as the Ghost Rider aimed its pistol towards me.

Unexpectedly, something drops from the upper level and body slams the Ghost Rider into the floor. "Not this time, cowboy!" A familiar voice grunted, practically enveloped into flames, trying to rip the pistol away from its grasp. "That's my girlfriend, you asshole!"

My breath hitched at the sight of Olivia, taking in her sudden appearance that sent my heart to spiral. "Olivia?"

She glances up to meet my eyes with a smile. "Sorry that I'm late to the party, ma amour, but if we want to win this you need to get out of here!" The Ghost Rider immediately kicks Olivia off of him and quickly stands to its feet to attack. "Agh!"

"But--"

"Go!" Peter bellowed, trying to kick free from the other Ghost Rider's grasp.  "Get Malia and Lydia out of here!"

I nod and wrap Malia's arm around my shoulder, following behind Lydia to the exit.

However, Malia pulls her arm away from mine and turns to face the library with a growl. "I'm not leaving them!"

"But Malia--" She cuts me off with a snarl, sprinting back towards the fight without bothering to spare a glance behind.
