Four
Phoebe's POV:
"The goal you shot today was so cool." I gush to Hayden as her, Liam, and I walked in the hallways. "I swear you're getting better and better! I'm so proud of you."
"And what about me? Didn't you pay attention to my lacrosse shots?" Liam asked with a brow raised. "Didn't you say to Malia and Kira that lacrosse seemed interesting to you."
I snort. "It was until I saw how rough the players are." I say before interlacing my hand with Hayden's. "She's not aggressive."
"Well with you it's a different story." Hayden teasingly nudged my side, causing my face to flush.
I swallow nervously. "I-I, erm--"
Liam clears his throat. "We're still talking about soccer, right?"
"Hey, guys! Wait up!" We all turn around and see Mason quickly go down the steps before he held out the compass in his hands with a proud smile. "I fixed it."
I grab the compass to get a better look but see that the face was messily repaired with super-glue.
"Uh...it's--" I awkwardly trail off, sharing a hesitant look with Hayden and Liam.
"P-Perfect!" Liam interrupts with a supportive smile. "Looks brand new."
Hayden snorts before shaking her head with amusement. "He's going to notice."
Mason shakes his head with confidence. "Nah, he'll never notice." He answered, taking the compass out of my hands. "We'll just put the compass back and figure out a way to help Scott."
She tilts her head to the side. "Or, just put the compass back?"
Liam quickly shakes his head. "We can't leave it all to Scott."
"Why not? He's the Alpha? And he has Olivia to help out."
I nervously look down. "Not for long." I mutter, remembering that Olivia and the rest of her friends were leaving off to college this year.
"Who's gonna take his place?" Hayden worriedly asks.
"Y-You guys don't think I could be the Alpha?" Liam asks in which I look up to meet his eyes.
"No! It's just..." I hesitantly trail off. "Magnetic anomalies and guys on horseback stealing people? I learned my lesson about getting involved. Twice."
"We can't just stay out of it."
"Well then what's gonna happen when Scott graduates? When there's no one here to figure things out?" Hayden cautiously asks.
"I can be the--" Liam stops himself, his voice being unnaturally high as he tried to speak before he cleared his throat. "I can be--"
"He can be the Alpha!" Mason clearly spoke in which Liam looks to him with a grateful expression before they turned to Hayden and I.
"Yeah."
Hayden looks to the side with curiosity in which Liam does the same but his brows furrow in confusion.
"What is it?" I worriedly ask as they look around cautiously.
"It's blood."
Olivia's POV:
"Scott? Scott!" Stiles calls out once we see Scott already walking underneath the overhead near the lacrosse field. He turns at our voices and stops his pace, causing Stiles to continue to drag me faster once we got closer to him. "Hey! Hey, it's called the Wild Hunt. It's a myth...only apparently, it's real, like every other myth in this town that should just really remain a nightmare."
"The guy on the horse?" Scott questioned.
I nod. "Lydia says they call them Ghost Riders."
"Hang on one second--hey!" He lets go of my arm and turns towards a group of lacrosse players walking through the tunnel. "That's my jersey! Where'd you get that?"
He plays lacrosse?
The lacrosse player with the number twenty-four continues to walk. "Coach gave it to me at practice."
"We had practice?" Stiles exasperated. "Why doesn't anyone tell me anything?"
"Stiles, focus." I scold, grabbing his arm to pull him away so we could continue walking.
"Why would the Ghost Riders want to take Alex's parents?" Scott asks.
"Because that's what they do. They take people, okay? They run around, collecting souls, and once they take you, you're gone." Stiles emphasized as he snapped his fingers.
"But it's not just you, it's everything about you, right?" I conclude and Stiles nods in agreement.
"Yeah, like how they took Alex's room."
"Does that mean Alex is next?" Scott worriedly questions which causes my eyes to widen.
Allison's POV:
"Got your text." Malia spoke as soon as I opened the classroom door for her, holding up her cellphone. "You said you needed my help?"
I nod and gesture towards Lydia who was on her laptop with a webpage about the Wild Hunt. "Yep."
Malia's eyes trail to Lydia who deeply stared in a daze which caused the girl to groan. "Oh God, that kind of help."
"Something terrible is going to happen." Lydia softly spoke as Malia and I sat near the desks in front of her.
"Okay." She sighed. "What is it?
"I don't know." She whispered before she finally looks up to us. "That's why I need your help."
Phoebe's POV:
"I can't find the source." Liam panted once the four of us met back in the halls.
"It's like it's coming from everywhere." Hayden breathlessly added as she gestured around us.
"How is that possible?" Mason worriedly asked.
"Maybe it's coming from more than one place?" I suggest.
Hayden's eyes slightly widen. "In more than one piece."
"If it's in the air, could it be coming out of the vents?" Mason asked which caused my heart to drop at the possibility.
The four of us slowly look up at the ceiling, where the air was billowing out of the vents.

The three of us watch as Liam jumped on his feet, preparing to barrel towards the boiler room door.
"Stand back." He whispered, cracking his neck before he takes a deep breath.
"Liam--"
He interrupts me with a battle cry and sprinted towards the door but before he could collide, Mason leans forward and pulls open the door which causes Liam to run through the entrance and crash into the metal shelves.
I wince at the clattering sounds as Hayden pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
"It's open." Mason muttered before we walk inside.
Liam dizzily shook his head and I held my hand out for him to grab. He starts to smile and I pull him to his feet before we continue to walk past some of the machinery.
"The scent leads in there." Hayden pointed to the closet in the back of the room.
Liam continues to walk as the rest of us stay behind and grabs ahold of the door knob. He looks back to us with worry but I give a small nod, indicating for him to open the door.
He twists the door knob and pulls the door open, but I still couldn't help the gasp that escape from my lips at the sight of a man slumped on the floor.
His body falls over and lands near our feet, revealing that the back of his skull has been cracked open, causing me to lean further into Hayden in horror.
"I think I'm going to be sick."
Olivia's POV:
"Where's the kid?" Stiles quickly asks Deputy Clarke as I stared at the now empty cell. "What happened to him?
She frowns in confusion. "What kid?" She warily asks, glancing between him and Scott.
"Alex? The kid from the car wreck?" Stiles reminded but Deputy Clarke held her expression. "The kid whose parents went missing last night?"
Her brows furrow in confusion. "Who's Alex?"
I share a worried look to Stiles before he takes a step forward to her. "Clark, listen to me. He was here, okay? You met him."
She gives a small shrug in uncertainty but before she could turn away, Scott takes a step forward as well. "Where's the Sheriff?"
"He got called out to the high school. They found a body." She explains before she turns behind her to grab a clipboard and hands it to Stiles. "No one's been in lock-up all day. Check for yourself."
Stiles frantically flips through the pages of the sign-up sheet before tossing it back to the table. "He's not on here...they took him."
"I shouldn't have left him alone." Scott muttered, his eyes slightly widened as he got a better look of the cell.
"He knew they were coming for him." I say before I worriedly look up to them. "I hate to say it but what if they're coming back for everyone else who was on that road?"
"Then we already know who's next." He grimly answered, noticing my nerves as I nervously fiddled with my sleeves.
"Phoebe and Hayden."
In a matter of minutes, we were out of the station.
Stiles sped through the streets as fast as he could, ignoring the glares from the other drivers he cut off until we finally arrived back at the school.
Police cruisers were scattered in front of the school with their flashing red and blue lights but I continue to follow after Stiles and Scott as we run through the main entrance.
It was full of people being questioned by the police and several students watching the scene in front of them.
"I'll check the quad. Let me know if you guys find them, and see if your dad knows anything." Scott quickly says to Stiles and I, noticing his worried expression.
"I'll stick with Stiles just in case we see any surprise visitors." I subtly hint in which he nods.
Scott turns to jog toward the quad but Stiles quickly grabs his arm, forcing him to stop. "Hey, Scott, wait." He opens his mouth to say something but he quickly clears his throat. "Um, I-I just, uh...I wanted to say, um--"
Scott places a sincere hand on his shoulder. "Tell me later." He assured and Stiles simply nods before Scott takes off.
"Yeah, all right." Stiles muttered under his breath but I grab his arm.
"I know that look. What's wrong?" I question but he quickly shakes his head. "Stiles."
"I'm scared, okay?" He says with frustration laced in his tone. "Alex saw the Ghost Riders and look what happened to him. He was erased from existence. I'm afraid that if someone looks at one, they'll be taken next and I'm terrified that it might be--"
"Stop it." I interrupt him, placing my hands on his shoulders. "I will do everything I can to make sure none of our friends are taken, okay? Why do you think I stayed with you?"
His eyes soften. "Olivia--"
"I'm not having a repeat with you getting affected by another supernatural threat. Now come on, we need to find my sister." I push and he quickly nods before we start to run again but he accidentally bumps into Ms. Martin.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Ms. Martin almost stumbles back but Stiles quickly grabs her arms to hold her steady.
"Sorry, Ms. Martin, sorry. Hey, have you seen, uh, Phoebe and Hayden? Actually, forget that--" Stiles cleared his throat to prevent him from stammering over his words. "Have you seen my dad?"
Her expression contorts to confusion. "Who?"
"My dad? He's here because of the body?" Stiles impatiently reminded in which Ms. Martin's eyes widen in surprise and concern.
"How do you know about the body?" She lowly whispered.
Stiles blankly stared. "...because my dad's the Sheriff?" He trailed off as if it was the most obvious thing ever which caused me to furrow my brows in confusion. The Sheriff? "Ms. Martin, are you okay?"
"Uh... just wait here." She nervously says before she quickly walks outside as the EMT's wheeled someone from the gurney.
"Stiles, we can't wait for her." I shake his arm, breaking his stares from Ms. Martin. "We need to keep looking."
"Okay, okay." He muttered before we continue to sprint towards the back doors of the entrance hall.
Allison's POV:
"When did you first have the premonition?" Malia asked.
"I was with Allison, Olivia, and Stiles." Lydia answered as she pointed to me. "We realized it was the Wild Hunt. The Riders, the horses...souls getting swept up." She sighed before turning her screen so it would show us the page on the Wild Hunt.
I lean closer to the screen. ""Those who see the Wild Hunt, beware, for you are already lost."" I read off from the page which caused my stomach to stir in discomfort.
Phoebe's POV:
"You're going home with Olivia, right?" Hayden asked as the four of us continued to walk in the hallway.
I nod. "Yeah I just need to grab her birthday gift from my locker and then try to look for her. But..." I hold up my phone, showing the several calls I tried making to Olivia. "she isn't picking up her phone...and she has the keys so that's great."
"Mason! Liam, hey! Where's Phoebe?" I hear someone shout in which I turn away from Hayden and see a guy who seemed a bit older than me frantically look between the two boys before he looks behind them and sees Hayden and I. "Oh thank god! Hayden and Phoebe, perfect." He scrambled as he grabbed our shoulders and pushed the four of us close together.
"Uh--"
"You two--You two have to listen to me right now." He interrupts me, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "Alex is gone, just like his parents, okay? The Ghost Riders took him, so you guys, you can't be alone. You gotta stick with Scott, Olivia, or with me, because I can see them."
My ears perk up at the mention of my sister's name but my brows furrow in confusion.
"Why the hell are you looking at me like that?" He impatiently asked as he glanced behind him.
Hayden leans close to my ear. "Do we even know him?" She whispered in confusion.
I slowly shake my head. "I thought you did."
Liam warily eyes the guy before he turns to me. "I don't even know if he goes here." He whispered.
Mason cleared his throat. "Do you go to this school?"
Liam cautiously put an protective arm in front of me. "How do you know Olivia?"
"Guys, you don't just bombard a ton of questions to a stranger who is clearly freaked out by something." I scold before I look towards the guy with a kind smile who seemed in his thoughts. "Hi there, you said you knew Olivia so why don't you tell us your name?"
Allison's POV:
"Horses...he saw them. He saw the Wild Hunt!" Lydia worriedly spoke as she pointed to the picture of the wild hunt.
The more I examined the picture, I couldn't help but take notice of the cowboy hats. My heart drops in realization.
The hats. The cold wind. The gun shots that weren't on the door anymore. It all made sense.
"Lydia," I worriedly speak up as she jumped to her feet. "He's going to get taken if he saw them..."
Her eyes widen. "We need to find him. Now." She spoke before she turned to Malia. "Where's Stiles?"
Malia frowns in confusion. "Who's Stiles?" She cautiously asks before she eyes me. "Have we met him?"
"It's starting." I whisper.
"We need to get him out of here." Lydia grabbed my wrist before dragging me out of the classroom.
"As much as I hate to say it, but we need to split up. We'll cover more ground that way." I say and she nods in agreement. "Once we find him, meet at the parking lot and we'll go from there, okay?"
"Okay, okay. Go!" She urged before we split away from each other.
Olivia's POV:
"The one time I forget to charge my phone is the time I actually need it." I groan as I look through another classroom before I turn the corner.
"Olivia!" I turn at the voice and see the guy in the flannel shirt frantically sprint to me before he grabbed my shoulders. "Everyone's forgetting. Natalie, your sister, Liam, Mason, my dad, Scott! Everyone is forgetting everything!" He exclaimed as he shook my arms. "They're not after Phoebe and Hayden!"
I blankly stare, trying to remember whether or not I knew the guy but...something about him sparked familiarity.
"Uh..." I trail off and his expression drops.
"No, no, no." He whispered, continuing to shake my arms. "It's me, Olivia. It's Stiles, one of your best friends. Please, you have to remember--."
I slowly shake my head. "Are you sure we've met? My memory isn't that terrible to have forgotten someone that's important to my life."
"Dammit, dammit." He groans in frustration before he grabbed my wrist. "No, you're coming with me to find Allison or Lydia a-and we're going to--."
My eyes slightly widen. "Woah what? No!" I harshly yank my arm away from him. "Look I don't know who you are or how you know Allison so stay away from us." I sternly say before I walk away.
I push open the doors but instantly collide with a body, causing me to stumble back a bit.
"Ouch--Olivia?"
I blink a few times before my eyes widened slightly, realizing the voice belonged to Allison. "Hey you. What's the rush?" I worriedly ask.
She opens her mouth to say something before her brows furrow in thought. "I--uh..." She trailed as she looked to the parking lot in curiosity. "I was looking for you! I forgot, I made reservations with the rest of our friends for your birthday dinner."
"Oh well," I gesture to myself with a smile. "here I am."
"Here you are." She grinned as she wrapped her arms around my neck.
"You know, I've been thinking a lot about our advice to Phoebe. We should have a date night." I suggest with a smile, pushing back some of her hair away from her face. "It's been awhile."
She raises a brow. "And what would we be doing?"
"Obviously I'm not supposed to tell." I chuckle but a cold breeze causes Allison to shiver, pulling me closer to her embrace. "But hopefully the weather isn't like this."
"I hope not."
