Eighteen
Olivia's POV:
"There it is." Lydia whispered as she carefully went down the hill, moving aside the branch to reveal the muscle-tissued corpse.
I shook my head in disbelief, watching as Malia, Scott, and Lydia crouched down to the body's level. "I thought Parrish killed it by burning it to crisp!"
"This one's different." Lydia muttered.
"Yeah. I think Lydia's right. I think this is part of the pack." Scott added and reached down, holding up its arm for us as Lydia aimed the flashlight at its forearm. "This is their pack symbol."
I crouch down to get a better look and to my surprise, I could see the scarred symbol of the crescent moon and circle. "Holy shit."
"Its skin is gone." Allison whispered in confusion until she reached down, picking up a flip phone in the pile of leaves. "This can come in handy."
"Wolves have to burn tattoos into their skin." Scott nodded his head to his arm. "My tattoo is probably scarred into my muscles, too."
"Okay, but why are there two of these bodies?" Malia curiously asked.
"Because the Anuk-ite has two faces." Lydia realized.
"You think that's why Halwyn sent you here?" I question and she slowly nods.
"He wanted me to find the Anuk-ite's other face."

After finding the body, Allison decided to take Lydia to get her changed out of her hospital robe and back to her regular clothes. The rest of us headed towards the school.
The bodies we saw tonight weren't the only ones the Anuk-ite killed, according to Phoebe.
Malia quickly closed the cover to the freezer with a look of disgust from the sight of the deceased bodies similar to what we saw in the primal pack's lair. "It's a bad day for finding bodies."
"There's gonna be a lot more if we don't find Aaron's other half." Phoebe spoke up from behind as she nervously bit her finger.
"Which we know nothing about." Theo added.
"We do know one thing." Scott quickly assured. "We know it's a werewolf."
"Yeah but there are a ton of werewolves we have never met in this city!" I exclaim. "Who knows, we probably met the other half already!"
"We need to find this other werewolf right now." Liam emphasized.
Theo nodded. "Preferably before they merge."
"What happens if they merge?" Malia narrowed her eyes.
"I don't know," Scott sighed. "but I got a feeling that it's not going to be good."
"Any chance you got to put together that army, Scott?" Liam questioned.
Malia awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. "You're looking at it."
Phoebe's eyes widen in surprise as she turned to me. "What about your friend that used to live with you? Or the one that you said that you used to be friends with when you were in Miami? Or Kira?"
I quickly shake my head. "Kira's still with the skinwalkers, Isaac's guarding the nogitsune fly, and Derek would kill me if I dragged Cora into this mess."
"But they could still--"
"My niece has a higher chance at survival if she stays in South America." A voice cuts off Phoebe which causes us to turn to the door. I stifle a laugh at the sight of Peter covered in dirt as he held a steering wheel in his hand. "So, let's hope this thing doesn't feed off desperation because this room reeks of it."
"What happened?" Scott worriedly asked.
Peter raised the steering wheel near his head with a sigh. "The hunters destroyed my perfect automobile. So, if this thing had anything to do with it, I'd like to see its demise is appropriately painful."
"I thought you had two cars?" Malia curiously asked.
Peter holds up a disfigured car key before letting it clatter to the ground. "There's going to be hell to pay."

"Hey, it's me again. I-uh, don't know why you can't seem to call me back. Maybe it's because you think you're punishing me. But, this is too long. It-it's too much and it's not about us. Something's happening in Beacon Hills, to the people here. I just..." The woman in the voicemail exhaled. "I just, I need to know everyone there with you is okay. So, can you just please, call me. Please? One call. That's all I'm asking for and if you can't call me back, then I'm going to get my answer anyway. That means I'm coming up there myself. If I don't get a call from you, I'm coming up there. So, just try...try to remember...it's my pack, too."
Scott closed the flip phone once the message ended and looked up to see our reactions.
Theo leaned off of the clinic's exit door in curiosity. "You pulled this off of one of the bodies in the woods?"
"Allison did." Liam answered as he nervously rubbed his hands together.
"There were at least six but one of them didn't have a face." I add.
"Okay, so the one with no face," Theo's brows furrow into concentration. "do you think that's the woman on the phone?"
Scott shrugged with a sigh, his expression filled with uncertainty. "Maybe."
"It's the same thing that happened to Aaron. It took over his body. It basically stole his face and his DNA." Mason spoke up from beside me. "So that means whoever this woman is, she could be the other half of the Anuk-ite."
"Which means she's just half of the problem." Theo muttered. "The other half, we already know about, Aaron."
"We don't know where he is, though." Liam interjected.
"Okay, hold on. Aren't we supposed to keep both halves apart?" He worriedly asked. "We know about one-half. Let's just go for that one! That's Aaron."
"I'm not agreeing with Theo, but..." Mason sighed. "I do think it would be easier to track down Aaron over a voice on the phone."
Liam winced as he waggled his finger at Mason. "That's agreeing with Theo."
"Yeah, but I thought I'd try to soften the blow a little bit." He awkwardly muttered, causing Theo to roll his eyes in annoyance.
"Is everyone completely shocked that I might be right?"
"The issue is that we don't like it." I mumbled. "And you."
"Maybe we're all right." Scott stood up from the reception desk. "Maybe we should be looking for both. Aaron and the woman on the phone. And, since you both agree..."
Mason's eyes widen in realization as Scott's voice trailed off. "Wait, you mean me--"
"And him?" Theo finished in disbelief.
"Yeah. You two find Aaron." Scott nodded before picking up the phone. "The rest of us will try to figure out whose voice is on the phone."
I take the phone from his hand in wonder. "By finding the other half, we probably won't even have to fight at all."
"We stop the Anuk-ite--"
"We stop the war." Scott eagerly finished Liam's sentence with a smile.
Allison's POV:
I carefully open the cubby in the hospital morgue that contained Halwyn's body in a black body bag.
He looked just as he did from when we saw his body in the woods. A large bullet wound in the middle of his head with his chest covered in claw gashes.
"Well, it's still here. Still dead." Malia gestured to Halwyn's body. "What else were we supposed to do?"
"Figure out how a hellhound led me into the woods to find another faceless body while being technically dead." Lydia casually explained.
Phoebe raised a brow. "Mind specifying when you say 'technically'?"
"I don't think I would have been led out there if he was fully dead."
"I don't think we should be hanging out here waiting for him to spring back to life." Malia grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.
"We don't have to wait if we can figure out how he was able to reach me." Lydia quickly explained before walking over to one of the steel autopsy tables.
"How do we do that?" I worriedly ask.
Her expression shifts into a pointed look as she looked down at Halwyn. "I'm just going to have to ask him."
Phoebe carefully helped Lydia to climb on top of the table and once she settled in with her head inches away from Halwyn's, she closed her eyes shut and kept her hands folded over her abdomen.
A few moments pass until Malia peeked her head next to Lydia's with curiosity. "Anything yet?"
"I think we should let her focus." I hesitantly speak up, taking note of Lydia's look of frustration.
"Right, right." Malia cleared her throat.
"Allison?" Phoebe whispered and I turn. "Can we talk?"
I quickly nod, following her to step away to give Lydia the proper silence. "What's up?"
"Yeah, I just wanted to ask about Olivia." She nervously fiddled with her fingers. "Is she doing okay? I would ask but last time I tried, she completely dismissed it and ran off to help Scott."
My heart sinks. "She's...still processing. We talked about it for a bit but it's still touchy." I explain sadly. "I think she needs someone like Cora."
Her brows furrow in confusion. "Why Cora?"
I smile in remembrance. "She was someone who really knew the relationship between Olivia and her mom."
She slowly nods. "I see."
"How about now?" We hear Malia ask once more.
"As opposed to when you asked three minutes ago? No." Lydia responded in a terse tone before sitting up from the table as Phoebe and I walked back over to them. "Ugh. It's not working."
She swings her legs over to step off of the table before walking over to stand beside Phoebe.
"What if it's a sensory thing?" Phoebe curiously asked but Lydia scrunched her nose in disgust. "Hey, usually your premonitions involved grabbing onto someone."
Lydia scoffed. "That's ridiculous. There's no way--"
Before she could finish speaking, Malia grabs her right hand and plants it on Halwyn's arm. "Anything?"
"Nothing." Lydia frowned, clearly not too thrilled about touching his arm.
Malia moved Lydia's hand to his clawed-up chest, peeling back the body bag a bit. "What about now?"
She winced in disgust. "Nope."
Malia moves her hand again and placed it on his chin. "Now?"
"Okay, maybe it's not working because she's grossed out by touching a corpse." Phoebe cut in, moving Lydia's hand out of Malia's grasp. "What if you tried the hand thing Scott does?"
"The memory manipulation ritual?" I ask and Phoebe quickly nods.
Malia hesitantly tilts his head to the side. "I could try it?"
Lydia quickly shakes her head. "You could damage his brain, maybe even more than that bullet already has."
Malia sighs in relief before adjusting his head back into the prone position but Phoebe begins to pace around the room in thought.
"How did it work last time?" She questioned.
"Last time, she was unconscious." I gesture to Lydia.
"Unconscious..." Malia whispered under her breath until her eyes lit up. She quickly walks over to the work table and holds up a large steel surgical hammer with a grin. "We can work with that!"
I share a look with Lydia who pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
"Well...while you guys deal with that," Phoebe awkwardly cleared her throat. "I have to get to school. I'll try to come back here once it's my free period. Good luck!" She quickly explained before walking out of the room.
Olivia's POV:
The rest of us stand in silence, watching the phone spin in circles since Liam kept moving it with his finger. Scott continued to pace back and forth, deep in his thoughts of what to do next but I couldn't take the silence anymore.
I snatch the flip phone from the table and call the recent number back, earning a quiet gasp from Liam but Scott quickly takes the device from my hand and snapped it shut before the person could answer.
"Hey!"
"Do you even know what you're gonna say?" Scott scolded me.
"Well if it were me," Liam spoke up with a shrug. "I'd start with hello."
"We might only get one shot at this." He reminded, making sure to look between Liam and I. "What are you gonna tell her?"
I raise a brow. "The truth? That we found the phone on a body?" I explain as if it were obvious. "Maybe even meet somewhere in person?"
"Yeah, I don't think it might be the best idea." Scott added.
"Why? Then we'll know who they are." Liam questioned.
"And they'll know who we are."
Before any one of us could argue this further, the phone begins to ring in Scott's hands which causes our eyes to widen. He quickly tosses it into my hands. "Answer it."
"What the--" I toss it back in his hands. "No way!"
"Why not?" He remarked, tossing it back to me. "You're the one who wanted to make the call. You take it."
"I changed my mind!" I hiss before tossing it into Liam's hands. "You do it!"
"I don't know what to say!" Liam angrily whispered before tossing it back to me. "You do it, you love talking to people!"
"I'm the oldest. You're the child, you do it!" I remarked, tossing the phone back to Liam.
He moves to toss the phone back to Scott but the ringer finally stops, making the call go to voicemail. After taking a deep breath, Liam redials the number, putting the call on speaker before setting it on the exam table.
The line rings for a few moments until it finally clicked. "Beacon Hills High School, how can I--" Liam quickly snaps the phone shut and turned to us with a wide-eyed expression.
"So that means it's someone at school that made the call." I explained and Scott nods in agreement.
"We might know who they are!" He concluded but Liam clicked a button on the phone before pressing it against his ear.
We watch in curiosity as he slowly moves the phone away from his ear with realization filling his expression.
"I think I know who it is."

"Mrs. Finch?" Scott questioned as the three of us sneakily watch her step out of her car in the school parking lot from Stiles' jeep. "You're sure?"
Liam nodded. "It was her on the phone."
I sigh, propping my head against my hand. "How does this prove she's the Anuk-ite or a werewolf?"
"It was still her." He insisted.
Mrs. Finch continued her quick pace into the school, smiling at the nearby students and other teachers walking inside as well.
"Okay. Well, we need to get closer." Scott explained. "See if we can get her to expose her supernatural side."
"How are we gonna do that?"
I start to smile and lean closer to the front seat to pat Liam's arm. "You're gonna do it."
His eyes widen. "W-Well, what about the hunters and the Nazi student brigade?"
"We'll be right there with you." I assure.
"Just get close, find out, and get out." Scott simply explained.
Liam huffs in annoyance, crossing his arms over his chest. "But I hate biology."
Phoebe's POV:
"Ah, Phoebe. I'm glad to see you're doing okay." Mrs. Finch greeted me with a small smile as I placed the stack of packets on her desk while the rest of the students filed into the class. "I would've—you know, understood if you took a day or two off."
I quickly shake my head as I hand her a fresh eraser for the chalkboard. "I can't afford to let my grades down."
"Very well." She nodded before the school bell rings. "Phones away, everyone, and settle down! We have a long way to go to get through the day." She announced as I walk to the small desk against the wall.
However, my eyes slightly widen in surprise at the sight of Liam sitting in his regular spot but with Gabe beside him.
His eyes lock with mine but before I could ask him, he discreetly points to Mrs. Finch before holding his fingers outward into claws.
My eyes widen. There's no way Mrs. Finch is a werewolf...could she be the Anuk-Ite?
