As Ready As I'll Ever Be
The next day arrived quicker than ever, silently stalking it's usual path.
Everything was just as irritating as before-and after getting off the bus and trudging into your first class, the thing you could do was plop your head between your arms and attempt to sleep.
The attempt part was pretty useless to add, seeing as you had absolutely no trouble napping anywhere and at anytime, yet, one can't help but be nervous. You could have been taking someone's seat by accident- or perhaps the teacher would have you introduce yourself.
You shudder. There's a time and a place for everything- just not public speaking.
Nevertheless, as quickly as your worries rose, your eyes were shut and locked into their Dreamland.
Only to feel a nudge on your shoulder.
You did nothing to show that you noticed this, ever still keeping your head between the comfort of your arms.
After a harder shove and a voice telling you to move, you finally peeked up from you temporary cushion. Some random kid was telling you to move, quite obviously because that was their seat or something. You'd have to guess assigned.
Letting out a begrudged sigh, before pulling yourself off the seat and gathering your things, you trudged away and targeted your next sleeping area- just to see it snatched up by another student.
If only you could be at home- in the comfort of your blankets.
A bell rang, and like mice to cheese, all of the possibile napping spots were nabbed away be the pestering children- not that I'm any older than the teenagers around me.
A few extra seats were around, not that you had time to actually get to one before the door opened. It appeared this day would loath you, as in walked a formally dressed lady.
She had wide, brown eyes, a big jaw, and braided hair. It suited her though.
The only thing that bothered me was the-... Overly developed chest area that made me glance down at my own.
She looked rather timid, and after inching into the class room and stopping at the podium, she set her books down and looked directly at me.
The look she gave me seemed mainly of confusion, but after a few more brief seconds, a look of enlightenment crossed her.
"Oh...! You must be..." A quick glance to the clipboard on the podium, "(Y/N)... Right?"
Although internally freaking out, I kept my cool, "The one and only."
She gave me a small smile, "Glad to see your feeling better (Y/N)- I'm Miss Bell, your homeroom teacher." The funny thing is I wasn't sick- yet she thinks I was.
Though, time seemed to slow down as she started the dreaded words, "If you can, (Y/N), please come up to the front of the class and introduce yourself! I'm sure everyone would like to get to know you!"
Gulping silently, you slowly tread to the front of the class, sweat already forming as you pursed you lips.
"Uh-" you stood at the front, giving an awkward glance at the full classroom.
Miss Bell gave you an encouraging thumbs up.
"My name is (Y/N)-... I like... Skateboard...? I don't know. Junk I guess..."
Miss Bell clapped her hands together, smiling at me before directing me in the direction of my assigned seats, "Your seat is the third row on the far left-" All the desks here were suited for two people, so I could but only assume to where mine was. "Endre will you please raise-.... And he's not in class again...-..."
As she continued to mudder to herself, you shuffled to the deserted desk, taking the left seat for a faster way out of the room and setting your binder and books on to the desk. You hope your seat partner knows how to conserve space, because sharing one long desk is annoying enough as it is.
Miss Bell muttered a bit more before sighing and repositioning herself in front of the classroom.
"Okay everyone- it's time for attendance..."
The list of names began to roll past her lips, and you kept yourself awake enough to say here for you name.
"Here..." You called out when she did get to your name. Not a minute later and you already plopped your face into your warm and comforting arms.

The crap was that?
Peeking your head up, you glanced around the class room. No one noticed because of attendance being called, but that very strange sound made you a bit suspicious.
About ready to take a three sixty look around the room, you stopped when you felt a nudge on your shoulder.
"...did they call E's yet..." A bland voice whispered to the right of you.
Calmly looking over despite the jumpscare you felt, the first thing you saw was a black jacket. Letting your eyes travel upwards, it became clear that whoever was now sitting in the previously empty seat was tall. Really tall.
Before you could look at the face though, a large slender hand pushed into my head, blocking your eyesight.
"...Eyes up front- don't look suspicious..." The dry monotone voice whispered again. It was obvious where the voice came from, the way too tall person seated in the seat next to you.
There was no way he walked in though- you're on the outer seat, you would've seen him.
"...So did they call E's or not..."
Keeping your eyes up front, you leaned your chin in your arms, looking forward- yet anxiously wanting to look to the right again, "Psh- I don't know-... I was only listening for my name, didn't pay attention to anything else."
The person sighed to themselves, noticeably slouching from the corner of your eye.
They didn't say anything else, leaving you stranded on what seemed to be an unended conversation. Not that it matters to you. Instead you continued to do what you were doing before, slouching just as the male next to you was.
Miss Bell continued calling out names. Her voice droned on, making you even sleepier then before.
After she finished- you being almost half asleep- she gathered her papers from off the podium, "Glad to see you showed up."
Her voice was rather stern when she said this, making you mentally note to not make her mad. The male beside you tensed.
"(Y/N), this is your late seat partner, Endre." She glanced to her papers, flicking past a page before giving me a smile, "I'm sure your schedule paper is self explanatory, but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask me."
Miss Bell walked up the aisle, placing a paper down on your desk before addressing the student next to you, "Now mister Newman- don't let me catch you late again."
Despite saying that phrase rather firmly, her big brown eyes did anything but look the student in the eye, instead looking stock still at the ground. You wondered why.
The student nodded and hummed at the same time, "I'll try Miss Bell."
The voice was just as monotone and quiet as when he whispered to you, making you believe that that was just his normal voice.
With that, she turned on her heel and made her way to her desk.
Continuing to rest your chin on your arm, you watched the interaction quietly, still mindlessly staring forward after she left your desk. The paper she set down was taunting you, and with enough wondering about what it was, you peeled it off the desk space she set it on.
Leaning your cheek on the palm of your head, your eyes peered at the paper, seeing it was just a brief introduction to Miss Bell and how she runs her classes.
You scoffed at the notice, laughing quietly when she had the audacity to add some corny pun in it.
After finishing, you shoved it into your binder and plopped back down into your arms.

Keeping your head straight, you silently glanced over at the student, only being able to see his abdomen. The books that were previously not in sight were now suddenly on the table- all but raising your suspicions.
Deciding to ignore it, you took out a pencil and rolled on the desk a bit aimlessly. Everyone else had made friends groups already, seeing as they were all blabbing random topics to each other- and it made you feel like you didn't really belong. Though, that was just due to your own choices- stupid. You decided that, and now no one'll talk to you. At least, that's what you think.
A weird blubbering noise came from next to you, and you just ignored it and assumed it was air conditioning or something, but after a throat clearing and a retry at the phrase, you clearly heard it, "Hello... (Y/N) was it?"
As soon as you heard those words, you shot your head up in surprise and stared in the direction of the voice.
What you saw was amazing.
The brightest violet color of absolutely vivid orbs darted through your being. Dark purple lined the edge of the light, and gradient between the two all but mezamorized and drugged your mind.
That tall kid...
He's something else...
_____
As soon as the moment started, the moment had violently ended.
The teen's jaw suddenly unhinged, opening like a snakes and accented the many teeth lining his maw.
And those eyes-... It was like a flame had been lit inside them, a sort of primal instinct flaring up and pushing to the surface.
Before I knew it- and before the class had knew it- I was on the floor, the hard punch to the cheek sending me stumbling back in shock.
A twisted sort of muttering came from the student's still dislocated jaw, his body shaking as though scared, when in reality, I was the one who was supposed to be scared.
After the reality of the situation finally set in, it had been a bit too late, and my tall classmate had already sent another punch at me on the floor, striking my other cheek.
My head went reeling from the sudden attacks, and for a second my mind actually went blank- static thoughts running rampant.
Hearing a few yells as well as other noises, my head cleared to assess the current situation.
The tall student was currently sitting hunched over me, ready to throw a punch- yet was held back by a few fast acting students.
All of the ones that jumped were struggling to keep it still, just as my aggressor was struggling to keep the punch barreling forward.
By now I regained my senses, and started to wriggle. He of course tried to keep me in his range of attack leaning more on me but letting the power of his punch fade, and after a few more moments of paniced yells and movements, the hero students managed to pry him off of me, sweating with the excitement of the whole situation.
His tall, slender body writhed against the hold of my classmates, and several others stood up to subdue him.
His mouths was still unhinged, noises garbling in his throat, gutteral growls and warnings seeping past with no definite message.
One kind student walked over and helped you off the floor, holding onto your arm just to make sure you wouldn't fall over with the unused adrenaline.
The student asked if you were okay, but you didn't answer. Instead, the only thing you could stared at was the absurdity in front of you.
How did his jaw unhinge like that? Why did he punch me? Does it genuinely take that many people to stop one student? Do I have a concussion or worse, BRAIN DAMAGE???
All of these things rushed through like a waterfall, clashing against the other with equal force.
With more struggling and laborous tugging, the students led my seat partner out of the class, the weird garbled noises faintly being heard as they slowly trudged down the hall.
"Are you okay?" The student that helped you up repeated what they said.
"..." Slowly looking to them, you blinked before reaching a single hand up to gently touch both of your cheeks, "My face hurts..."
The student smiled, before looking to Miss Bell- who mind you was just as shocked as I was, if not even more, "Miss Bell? May I take (Y/N) to the nurse's office?"
Miss Bell didn't respond. In turn, the student cleared their throat, making her look up with alarm, "Oh- Yes yes- that's a good idea! I'll let you escort her- I need to go get help for the students!"
With that, she rushed out of the class, leaving a few papers to flutter after her.
Both the student and you stared for a bit, before the student turned to you, "Ooookay.... To the nurse's- shall we?"
If it wasn't obvious- Miss Bell is the cow, and your seat partner is the enderman.
