I like to put the appearance first, so you know what they look like while reading. So here ya go!:

I apologize for the complicated design . . . I wouldn't mind remaking or redesigning if you don't like it. My imagination kiiiinda got away from me . . .

_______________________________

- Big wavy cape with a hood attached! (I guess that technically makes it a cloak?) One side of it is a dark raspberry lookin color, and the other side is a light minty color. They like to swish it around, and it makes them feel cool.

- the cloak also has a design on the back, of a white storm-swirl, and a black sun-star. This is to showcase the two different climates that envelope them so much, and the symbol is put in other places (like the belt and the cloak clasp,). On the back of the hood is similar symbols, however they are rearranged too look like a pair of goggles and a mouth, agape. As if in awe of the worlds wonders . . .

- ruffled/messed up button up shirt. You can't usually see under the cape . . . But the shirt they wear has a ton of rips and tears in it. The entire left sleeve is torn off, and some how flicks up at the end.*

*(This is because one sleeve falls, signifying a drop in temperature, and the other sleeve lifts up, signifying a rise in temperature. GOD, character design is fuuuun.)*

- puffed up, fluffy pants!!! The pants can fluff up to protect from cold climates, or deflate into a lighter material to give the wearer more air between the fabric and skin (for warm climates). They are somehow, a vibrant hue of black and white, being very striking in a surprising way.

- the shirt and pants have a fun retro design on it! . . . They drew the design on to the clothes themselves, using a set of fabric markers. The marker fades sometimes, though, so they have to draw the design back on every now and then. But . . . They find that kiiiinda fun. Like a monthly craft project!

- Their entire left arm (and some parts of their legs, though it isn't shown) is covered in burn scars, meanwhile the majority of their other parts have very small, yet noticeable ice burns. The damaged skin has a sleeker feel to it than normal skin, since that's just how ice burns heal; and the coloring is slightly lighter as well.

- They have belts tightly (yet safely,) around both their legs and their waist. The one on their waist is to keep the pants up while they're puffed! And the others . . . Just look cool. :D

- they have two boots on their feet! (As you'd expect,) And the sleeve of it can be torn off to make them into running or track shoes. Perfect for a switch of temperature and tempo! But look out. The bottoms of the shoes are sharp, and are specifically meant to dig into things to make traversing difficult terrain easier! If they can dig into ice, rock, wood and stone that easily . . . What else can they dig in??? (They also made a cool clanking noise when they walk. Very cool. Super epic, if ya ask them.)

- their hair is spiky and kinda all over the place. Bae is constantly frizzling and waving it, so it's always in a state of disarray. In light, Bae's hair seems to gleam in its unnatural mint and pink-red color; just as strikingly as their clothes. But whenever it's out of the light, or in very dim light, it becomes a very dim Black and white color. Especially when they put their hood up . . .

- Lightly tanned skin.

- Sharpened teeth, which seem . . . Unnatural. Whenever Bae's asked about this, they just say that they were born with those.

- Bae wears a pair of goggles over their eyes, and almost NEVER takes them off. There's a rumor going around that Bae actually has serious problems seeing, and that the goggles have prescription lenses on them, which makes them functionally more like glasses than goggles. No one still amongst the living ("still" being the keyword) has seen their eyes, so whatever they look like is a mystery to all . . .

Let me know if you want any more details on anything. Ya know I love to talk.

Full Name:
Bae Han

Preferred Name:
The Grand Duke, Duchess, and Liege to the Iron and Wood Legacy!! (This is just a joke, Bae is their only preferred name.)

Age:
17    (If I were to put them in a different story or a D&D campaign, they would probably be a Gnome, and would be a 93 years old. In case you don't know, Gnome's in D&D live to be 300-500 years old.)

DOB:
[UNKNOWN]

Gender:
Bae . . . Doesn't have a concept of gender. They probably used to, but these days, they just refer to themself with as many titles as they deem appropriate, therefore making them some mix of genderfluid and non-binary. For example:

• "Bow to your heroine!"
• "I am the supreme Duke of the land, you silly little thing."
• "Never before has your ruler been tested with such tactics!"

Pronouns:
At some point, they heard someone use the terms "they/them," and they liked it. So, those are usually the only pronouns that they have people call them. However! There are some Neopronouns that you could use, if you wanted:

Thermos/Ther/Thermself

• "Thermos is planing a scheme . . ."
("He is planing a scheme . . .")

• "No! That's ther weapon of ultimate destruction!"
("No! That's her weapon of ultimate destruction!")

• "Bae thinks very highly of thermself."
("Bae thinks very highly of themself.")

Sexuality:
Bae has never had anyone close enough to them that would warrant that type of attraction. But, if thermos did, then. . . . I suppose Aegosexual would fit them well. If thermos suddenly began to develop a sense of attraction like that, then it would likely lead into Aegosexual.

Romantic Orientation:
Again, Bae hasn't ever experienced any attraction to another person before. However, I feel like they would be much more keen to get into a romantic relationship. Therefore, I believe that omniromantic would fit nicely.

Height:
5'10–pretty tall, but still understandable.

Role:
My original angle with the character was to go for the antagonist role, if that's alright. If you already have an antagonist, then that's cool! There are totally ways to use them in a different light.

Ultimate:
The Ultimate Climatologist

Ultimate Explanation:

[The majority of they're backstory is secretive for them. So, most of this isn't anything that they would openly share with others.]

So, when Bae was very young (like 4-5 years old), they were left alone in an underground factory. Bae doesn't remember anything before the factory, but the second they woke up, they were surrounded by metalwork and heat. The factory worked with heavy metal machinery and molten iron, so from the very start of Bae's life, they felt like were burning.

They had awoken in a room surrounded by broilers and steam vents. The room was in the shape of a funnel; wide at the top near the ceiling, but thin and cramped at bottom of the room. And that's where Bae woke up. Alone. Surrounded by cauldrons of red hot iron, in a cramped, tight room. They had fallen from the very top of the tall room, and landed amongst the factory's metal work—and because of this—had a few injuries . . . And a strong case of amnesia.

So! To just summarize this part: For a year, Bae was trapped, alone within this mysterious factory. It was like a maze, and for a child who had no clue who they were or what they were doing, it was terrifying. But after a while, they began to learn. They adapted to the heat, learned it's ways. They used to find large, old bunkers within the factories depths, and within it were books, food, drink, clothes—just piles upon piles of supplies. It didn't take long before they figured things out. Like, "Oh! This goes on my body," and "Oh! This is to stop my stomach from hurting." (Though they didn't figure out the real worth of books for a while. They sorta just . . . Used em for kindling.) They grew fascinated with heat, they lived with it. The fire was all Bae knew, for forever. No matter the burns, or the sweat, and loss of breath, they lived the heat. (At one point, they had their whole left arm burned in an accident while exploring the huge factory, which is where that comes from.)

But they were resourceful and smart despite their age and naivety. And one day—it paid off. Bae found the exit to the large, expansive and lonesome factory . . . And when they did . . . Was hit with a rush of something they'd never experienced. The factory was always smoldering; hot and overheated. But the door that lead to the outdoors was the complete opposite . . . And once again, Bae turned back into the scared child they used to be a year ago.

Outside the factory was a cold, Arctic wasteland. Filled with harsh snow, chilling winds, and a blinding horizon. The new sensation sent shockwaves through them. The environment was new . . . But they wouldn't give up. Bae rushed into the cold, excited to explore. They spent another year learning how to tame the cold. Unlike the factory—smoldering and mechanical—this new arctic environment was freezing and wild. The outdoors was a new frontier, scary yet exhilarating. Just like the factory, Bae was able to observe and learn about this strange new world. They had many struggles, of course; frostbite and starvation on the forefront of worry. But after the discovery of animals and edible plants, things quickly changed in Bae's benefit. They quickly found themself enthralled with the cold now, too. The difference between the frost of the outdoors and the scorch of the earths depth was utterly stunning to them, and they couldn't find a way out of the fixation.

This all came to a head when Bae actually met with real other people.

After believing for two years that there was nothing but the metal and wood of world for company, Bae was met with real human beings. They were scientists, who were studying a few habitat-specific animal species from the Arctic, when they came across Bae's territory. One of them had come across Bae's animal trap, and was caught in it, but Bae quickly realized "AH, that's probably not an animal . . ." The scientists took them in, and began to teach them the ways that they know. Bae mostly played as a quiet observer, though, instead of a student. They watched what the other scientists did: How they dressed, how they spoke . . . Plus, Bae FINALLY figured out how to properly use BOOKS! And they have a word?? "BOOKS? Words exist? SPEAKING EXISTS? Your voice is used for more than just growls or yells of pain??? Fascinating!"

The studious way of the scientists rubbed off on Bae's already constant observing nature. This lead to the scientist's research team extending by one more member. Eventually, Bae's past resulted in their fascination with temperature, and how it rises and falls . . .

They make it their goal to find the most extremes for each side of the temperature spectrum. That's their one goal in life.

Face Claim:

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

[I hope this vid works . . .]

Outfit:
Uh, I filled this out. All the drawings are above, but feel free to leave questions here if you're unsure.

Personality:
Bae is eccentric to say the least. They have a constant drive to learn and experience new things. To them, everyday is a new day to find something fantastic! They're never bored, because even the dullest task can be the most astounding thing in Bae's mind.

Waiting in line for their morning coffee?: "How interesting! Why must we wait in one line . . . ? Why not two? Or three? Why are they called 'lines?' What culture made this phenomenon, and how did the rest follow it? Was the idea of waiting, single file for something, forced upon the others? It's truly a marvel the way we adopt new ideas for the silliest of things . . ." This is just one of the many, THOUSAND things that Bae has thought about. Since Bae hadn't seen the world for a good 1/3 of their life, the ideas of every day norm are unbelievably fascinating to them (well, not as fascinating as temperature, but you know . . .). Bae constantly asks questions, tests hypothesis's on people, challenges themselves, and does anything in their power to understand what the world is. Because that's all they can do. Learn, adapt, conquer, grow. That's their philosophy. They're a quiet observer with a small want to be the center of attention. They like being in control of the situation . . . They like understanding.

Growing up in a world where not knowing something meant death or pain was what drilled the idea into their head. Understanding means survival. So . . . When they don't understand something, it freaks them out. It isn't rare, actually. As mentioned, everything is new and fascinating. So finding something that doesn't have a reason or a well written explanation results in anguish for Bae. Pondering the beginnings of a coffee shop routine is one thing, but . . . Not knowing things that the rest of the world seems to handle comfortably is earth shattering sometimes.

For example: What is love?
Bae doesn't understand that. Bae does have a parental figure—their caretaker, Bong Cha Han, the woman who named them—but Bae doesn't understand if they love her or not. They might, but they've never experienced love before for someone to tell them, "yes! That's it." No one has described it. Shared it. Even Bong Cha hasn't shared this with Bae. Their relationship is more scientist and apprentice than mother and child. The first time someone explained love to Bae ("It's when you truly want to protect someone, and have them protect you back!," is what they said,), Bae couldn't grok it, and it tore them apart for days. They eventually chalked it up to, "stupid/untrue description from an untrustworthy source," but it's stuck with them. They're inability to truly understand certain social norms is an issue, and a weakness.

They get self preservation. "I am important for myself, and I don't wanna die or experience pain. So therefore, I shall make decisions and take actions to stop or limit that possibility." They also understand the protection of wealth and ego. "Having all this power means no one will or probably can hurt me, there fore I must keep it and never let it go, or else my safety is compromised." But they don't see how another person could factor into that, let alone a families worth. This makes Bae a bit . . . Apprehensive when it comes to things like physical contact or most socializing. But it's still conflicting to them. They want to talk, and learn, and grow, but they feel unwelcome since there is still so much they don't understand. It makes them livid that others can get it so well when Bae can understand none of it. That being said, this makes room for growth!

Because underneath that fear is still that want to learn and observe. They want to know what it's like to have people around them and be happy about that. Because again, it's fascinating!! Their fear just hinders them from it. If they show they don't understand, then they'll feel like that same old kid; stuck at the bottom of the factory's mechanism floor, or crumbling against a frost-covered tree in the snow. Helpless. Alone. But they do like attention or having people think their interesting, which is the reason for their funky looking outfit. They love going out to places or showing off, just so others can see them.

So, to sum it up:
Bae is a quiet observer with a quick wit, and a strong propulsion to be around others, but is afraid of this urge, since they don't understand it, and it triggers a feeling of inadequacy, and therefore triggers the idea of dying. They want to be around others, but can't because of their own inability to comprehend. They would likely need a guiding hand to help them out of this rut, if you wanna go for a sympathetic character arc. Or, you can build this up as a villain/antagonist motive: "I don't understand it, therefore, there IS no meaning to love! If you think their is, then maybe I should just kill your all right now, MUAHAHAHA, I have the grit and determination to do it, TEHEHE!" (That wasn't a quote, it was just me writing it out.) There are other things besides love that they don't understand, but that's what I used for my explanation.

Backstory:
Most of it was in the Ultimate Explanation, but I'll use this to build off of it a bit more and fill in the gaps.

Bae's original parents were these two, rich and self centered American business owners. They had an illegal metal work factory in the Arctic that they were using to harvest rare metals from deep in the earths mantle. One day, they took their precious child Elliot (Bae's original name) out to the factory to see it. However, tragedy struck.

That day, the factory malfunctioned somehow, and the entire building had to evacuate. In the scuffle of people trying to exit the massive factory, Elliot was pushed off of a thin steel walkway, and fell to the bottom of on of the large, funneled metal work rooms. Before they fell . . . They had clung helplessly to the edge of the platform, and called out for their parents. The business owners stopped in their tracks for a moment, glanced back at their child . . . Before running as quickly as they could to the exit. Abandoned, Elliot had no hope for being rescued . . . And fell down to the rooms depths. When Bae woke up, they had no recollection of anything. They're parents, their name, origin . . . It was all truly lost to time. Their parents were forced to abandon their secret factory too, forgetting it even exited—along with their sweet child.

Then, the events from the Ultimate Explanation unfolded. They lived in the factory, then in the wilderness, and then later were found by scientists. But there was one scientist specifically that stood out. Scientist Bong Cha Han was a stoic and quiet worker, observing both Bae and the frost-lands around them with stone-cold intrigue. While the others had tried to baby them, Bong Cha saw in the blink of an eye that Bae was much more intelligent and mature than most children. So, one day, without another word . . . Bong Cha walked up to Bae, looked them dead in the eye and said, "We will call you Bae Han. You will be my responsibility, and you will come to me with your questions."

And all Bae did was nod.

For the next several years, Bae lived with their mother, Bong Cha. They studied together and made an array of amazing climatological discoveries. But throughout all that time, that was all they were to each other. Partners. Even if Bong Cha had signed off to adopt Bae, and even when they lived together in Korea, that's all they were. A Scientist and her pupil.

They traveled the world and discovered things, and despite Bong Cha's very stoic nature, Bae became a very spastic and attention grabbing person, making them contrast a lot. Bong Cha never seemed to mind this, as long as it never got in the way of work. And Bae never seemed to mind Bong Cha's lack of care or hospitality. Bae was fine with how she treated them, because they don't ever remember being treated otherwise, or think that they should. But, there have been moments of course . . . When Bong Cha falls asleep at her desk, so Bae drapes a blanket on her shoulders, but Bong Cha doesn't seem to care or have noticed. Or when Bae does a great job on something and everyone praises them for it, yet Bong Cha is too busy to notice. Being treated like the secretary or apprentice for so long . . . It just . . . Doesn't strike Bae well.

Because Bae has felt cold before . . . But not as cold as how Bong Cha's disappointed glare makes them feel . . .

Family:
Bong Cha Han (Bae's adopted mother)

Strengths:
• Quick on their feet (both physically and mentally)

• Confident

• Not easily frightened

• Medically intelligent

• Vast survival skills

• Strong and able

Weaknesses:
• Could get confused if looped around with another's beliefs (has a hard time debating morals)

• Has difficulty backing down from a fight or argument (because they think they'll look weak)

• Can get a little too curious or reckless

• Can't always interpret or handle emotional intelligence

• Needs new things to explore or they feel cramped and stuck (anything can be explored for them. Even the most simplest of things.)

• Likes to show off a lot

Likes:
(Most of these are suppressed)
• Likes to show off (like I just said, tehe)

• Likes when things are quiet

• Likes sleeping, actually! Such a sleepy baby

• Likes finding new things/places/people

• Adores cats, but has never actually met one in real life

• Likes when people ask them questions

• Likes when people are surprised or impressed by them

• Appreciates when someone hears them out (specifically pays attention to them, even when they aren't trying to grab attention)

Dislikes:
Dislikes having to yell or be loud (but feels like they have to be that way due to trauma)

• Dislikes being ignored

• Dislikes early mornings

• Dislikes being forced to do things (it's feels like surrender)

• Dislikes big dogs (They were attacked by a wolf while in in the Arctic)

• Dislikes when people question them on why they see the world the way they do

• Dislikes feeling outcasted

• Hates when they can't understand something

• Gets irritated when others question why they're upset (frustrated when they can't understand things)

• Hates when people ask about their scars

Fears:
Bae has a slight fear of dogs, due to the wolves that they used to encounter and fight off in the wild. They eventually conquered the wolf packs, and they stopped bothering them, but seeing big dogs invokes an odd fight or flight reaction that Bae doesn't understand. Another thing that Bae fears is being in the dark forever. Not the actual darkness, but more specifically not being able to understand something for forever. There are a few things that Bae has trouble understanding, but that they simply push to the back of their head for now, like an, "I'll deal with that later . . ." response. But if Bae is ever faced with a reality that there are some things they will never conquer or comprehend, that's just very scary for them.

Triggers:
Whenever Bae sees a big dog—whether it's sitting, standing, running, laying down—they will stop in their tracks immediately and just stare at it for a bit. They'll stay there and wait until they're sure it won't attack them, before simply turning the other way and leaving. They'll pretend that nothings wrong, and that nothing happened, but in their head they're usually very frazzled. If the dog actually approaches them, then they might duck for cover or swat it away. They'll try as hard as they can to keep their composure, but they can only take so much before their resolve breaks, and they go into panic . . .

Quotes:

꧁༺ You walk up to a hooded figure with a very flashy outfit sense. You tap their shoulder and they whip around rather quickly to you. In fact, it's so quick, you jump back in surprise. The jump makes you stumble, but before your bottom hits the ground, the figure in question grabs you by the arm and yanks you back to your feet. As you meet there eyes, you don't see eyes. You instead see two goggled lenses, gleaming at you with wide interest . . .

As they open their lips to speak, sharp white teeth shine in their wake. "Well . . . Another new friend, I presume, no?" They practically purr the words out as they release your arms and return their own hands to their hips. "If so, then rejoice! For I am Bae Han, the only scientist you'll ever need. As solid as ice, yet moldable as lava; I am the Ultimate Climatologist. May you never forget it!"༻꧂

꧁༺ "Killing each other now? Oh!. . . The savagery of it all . . !" (Sarcastic) ༻꧂

꧁༺ "Now, now, there's a whole WORLD in here to explore! How could you possibly be bored? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!"༻꧂

꧁༺ "What happened to my arm is of no consequence to youuuu,~ my dear . . ." *grabs you by the collar* ". . . so don't ask about it. Understood?"༻꧂

꧁༺ "These scars are the earths dearest gift to me, so why should I share with the likes of YOU, HOW I GOT THEM?"༻꧂

꧁༺ "I've never met a being MORE INSUFFERABLY INSUFFICIENT! Truly, you must have been labeled the least of the species, no?"༻꧂

꧁༺ "There's a common misconception that . . . You think I WANT to be around you people? I just can't comprehend why you all think this."༻꧂

꧁༺ "Yes, yes, I'm aware of my excellence. Now move on to something less important, like our current situation."༻꧂

꧁༺ "To think . . . You'd go through all that trouble to . . . Remove yourself from this situation and yet . . . You've failed. Well, you didn't exactly fail . . . You'll certainly be removed from the situation . . . Puhuhu . . ." ༻꧂

꧁༺ "Oh, darling little you. Don't be so quick to anger. That's not how you live in these scenarios."༻꧂

꧁༺ "I . . .I-I . . . I AM BETTER THAN THIS. I can understand anything. DO anything. I couldn't begin to care about what you think of me. I don't need you!"༻꧂

꧁༺ "You people and your little connections . . . That's not something that comes as easily to me." ༻꧂

꧁༺ "No . . . No one's ever given me an . . . Adequate definition for this. So please . . . . . . tell me . . . . What is love?"༻꧂

꧁༺ "I'll never understand it will I?! I'll never get why they hug! Why they kiss! Hold hands on a walk, or star sweetly at the sky. I'll never understand why they feel those things! Why I DON'T FEEL THOSE THINGS. WHY IM IN PAIN. ILL JUST NEVER KNOW, AND IT WILL ALWAYS BE DARK FOR ME, FOREVER!!!"༻꧂

꧁༺ [*something happens that's triggers Bae*] "Nothing happened. Nothing hurt me. I'm in perfect condition. Not too cold, not too hot . . . Room temperature, in fact. So I wonder . . . . Why am I in pain?" *crumbles to the floor* ༻꧂

꧁༺ "Oh, I've killed before. There's few things more satisfying than ending a life . . . And then cooking it up for dinner . . . Oh! No, darling, I'm talking about a squirrel. I've killed a few squirrels in my day."༻꧂

꧁༺ "I suppose this is farewell. Have a fair night, everyone. Thank you for paying attention to me."༻꧂
