NICKNAME: Some people who knows Mei personally call him "M." (Like saying "Em.") But that's usually just the other people who work at the club that he works at.

ULTIMATE: Pole Dancer

PERSONALITY: Mei is very gung ho about life. His appearance is loud, but their words can be louder! As well as dancing, he occasionally sings and plays instruments. They have been the DJ of his small college club once or twice, and the people love them! He never hesitates to try or do anything new or interesting. They just go for it! He has a good heart and is very prideful about themself and his friends. No matter what anyone thinks, they will always be true to himself and not let anyone step in the way!! They know what they want.

However. . . That pride can stretch a little too far sometimes. Although he has a natural caring nature, they can sometimes let that get ahead of himself. There are occasions where he has an air of superiority around them, and can come off as . . . A bit of a jerk. He can be a little stuck up when stressed, but they still try and seem more professional about things. He isn't hot headed, but he certainly won't step down from an argument if they think his case is important. Although they won't be the one to escalate things, he isn't against yelling. So if the argument gets heated, just be careful. . .

They've gotten into their fair share of fights, and can certainly throw hands if it's ever needed. He's only ever fought others if they aren't treating them well or are openly being threatening and harassing him. They will NEVER throw the first punch, however. He has a standard set for themself that he won't be the one to cause a fight. They'll cause an argument, sure, but he will never be the first to yell, scream, or slap. They wait for the first person to strike before responding in kind.

However! Over everything, Mei is kind of a flirt. They like to tease, make people flustered, and just toy with them. Despite that, he would never go too far into that territory, and will always express that they were kidding. If the person is uncomfortable, he stops immediately.
(Ex: "Hey! Did you like my dance routine? I bet you were blushing a loooot! Haha! Don't worry, darling, I'm just toying with you. But really, how did I do? I tried a new pole hold! ☺️)
He is ace, and has no interest in doing anything farther than flirting. They much rather have a tone of fun friends to hang out with instead of one person. That being said, if the right person turned up. . . Romance might be nice. (This is just me letting you know that you can ship my OC with somebody if you eventually want. But it has to be a purely romantic relationship.)

A lesser known part of Mei, is how PROTECTIVE Mei can be. Mei will always have a friends back. No matter what, loyalty is a HIGH standard for him. They refuse to ever let a friend down, or leave a friend behind. In fact, the whole reason he learned to pole dance was because of them helping a friend. (I'll explain in the backstory part.) But yes. If you're hurting Mei's friends, you're hurting Mei, and you won't get away with it for long.

Over all, Mei can be sassy, flirty, professional, and fun! But they also have a side of superiority, seriousness, and protection over the things important to them.

BACKSTORY:

Before becoming a Poler, Mei was a very bland high schooler. In fact, they were so different back then, that . . . Mei wasn't even Mei's name! Mei Ito is Mei's new name. . . They're dead name obviously isn't to be mentioned.

With strict parents and a very overwhelming school schedule, Mei was constantly unhappy and tired. Here's a very rushed drawing of Mei, before getting their talent:

When they figured his talent, they lost all the insecurities and fears he had beforehand. Instead, they came out to their family as Demi-boy, and Asexual, AND as Pan-romantic. . . Got kicked out of their house because of it, and dropped out of school in hopes to pursue the art form of pole dance more.

(They're canonically a drop-out, but decided to go back to school after getting accepted to Hope's Peak, assuming that you're using as part of the story. If you aren't, just ignore this.)

BACKSTORY BEHIND ULTIMATE:
[Heads up! This has a brief mention of p33r pr3ss_r3 and bad friendships, just so you know. It also talks about a college party for a second, but it isn't very descriptive. I don't know if that would upset you or anyone, but I figured I'd mention it.]

So! Here's how he became who they are now. . .

One day, Mei was in lunch with their friends, just doing what they all normally did, when one of them had an idea. Admittedly, some of Mei's old friends weren't very good. They played a lot of mean and stupid tricks, and always rubbed Mei off the wrong way, but. . . Without them, Mei would be lonely, and the idea of loneliness was enough to make them stay were he was. Not to mention, not all of them were bad eggs. He had one friend, Sae, who was a very good person; and someone that he cared about a lot. But today, everything changed.

Because on this day, one of his friends dared the rest to sneak into a college club with them. Mei was nervous, but did it anyway. Not for themself, but for Sae, who had a very hard time with peer pressure. He was over all very apathetic about the idea. . . Only wanting to go so they could protect Sae.

The group got in quite easily, as it wasn't a REAL night club. It was just for college students, which meant no alcohol or anything was around. It was still fairly PG, so sneaking in was easy. They had all dressed for the occasion, in light dresses, and button up shirts. However, the second they actually entered, the others realized they were in over their heads. Sae was shaking like a leaf, so Mei stayed as close to her as possible while the music boomed and the people became overwhelming. Eventually, some of Mei's worser friends started mentioning the dancing poles. . .

Mei smelled trouble, so he tried to drag Sae somewhere else, but couldn't do it in time. One of their rotten friends had pushed Sae up the stairs to the dance way, and put Sae in front of everyone within the club. Without another thought, Mei took action.

Rushing up the small set of stairs and yanking off their school uniforms tie, he grabbed Sae's hand, and started to dance! Mei hadn't even noticed he was using the pole at first; they were just focused on cheering Sae up after being put in such a traumatizing position. It was only when Sae was giggling and cheering, that he realized. . . Everyone else was cheering too! A group had gathered and was absolutely enthralled by how Mei was preforming, and so. . . They continued!

They kept dancing in whatever way they wanted, even climbing the pole once or twice for fun. They were still an obvious novice, but they were having fun, and that's what mattered.

By the time Sae and Mei had stepped off the stage, their awful friends had all left. . .

So instead, Mei and Sae walked around town for the rest of the night. The two of them had completely let go of their fears, and all they wanted was to have fun for the rest of the night!

In fact. . . . They just wanted to have fun for the rest of their LIVES!

This night was what did it. It made Mei realize how sad they were, and realize that he wanted something MORE from life. Even if they were considered young, he didn't wanna wait. They wanted control over their life NOW.

That night, he dyed their hair, he bought new clothes, they hung out at an old playground , just talking with Sae, and everything changed. He wasn't who they once were.

Mei was Mei!

And he decided that he wasn't gonna let anyone forget it. EVER.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
- After getting kicked out of their family house, he lived with Sae's family, which was much more accepting.

- Mei works at the same college club that they had danced at that first night. When they went back, the owner recognized them, and asked some of the other dancers to teach Mei professionally.

- Mei is focused on making Pole dancing more . . . Wholesome. Mei wants to focus on the self expression side of pole dancing, instead of the physical aspects of it. The meaning is more important than the image.
