I'm just like you, you're just like me
So with all the racial crap on the news that's been going on lately, I was inspired to write this "little" thing. Enjoy :) and to clear things up now, there are the three mlp races in here. Unicorns aka Magic Wielders (humans with magic), Pegasi aka Aerians (humans with wings) and earth ponies aka Humans (just regular humans). It's still in the EG human world. Just so you know :)
"Slow down, RD!!."
Applejack tried to keep up. Rainbow had an unfair advantage. Applejack looked up at the sky, where her girlfriend was, soaring with ease. Applejack's heart pounded in her chest, sweat rose on her brow. Applejack looked ahead. She saw the school. Applejack pushed herself. Her feet pounded on the sidewalk. She felt her confidence rise when she realized that she had passed Rainbow Dash and was now in the lead.
The two raced towards the front of the school, their eyes on the wondercolt statue. Applejack crossed the street, ran onto school grounds. She sprinted towards the statue, her hand outstretched.
Almost there. The statue was almost in her reach. Applejack slammed into something soft.
"OW!."
Applejack was forced to a stop, heavily panting. She looked up to see Rainbow Dash standing there, a smirk on her face, leaning against the base of the statue.
"I win."
Applejack's mouth fell open.
"How??!."
Rainbow shrugged.
"A girl never tells her secrets."
Rainbow pushed off the statue. Applejack took a step back. Rainbow Dash stretched out her blue wings proudly.
"The bad boys are my secret weapon. Having wings comes with a few advantages in races. You know that."
Applejack crossed her arms.
"Whatever."
Applejack wiped sweaf off her forehead.
"Cmon." She said. "Ah need ta cool down. All that runnin' made me tired."
"Yeah. I need some water." Rainbow agreed as they turned and heads towards the school.
"Hey, girls."
Applejack and Rainbow Dash stopped and looked over their shoulders. They smiled when they saw their friends, Twilight and Rarity. Rainbow and Applejack turned around. Rarity and Twilight walked up to them, smiling as well.
Rarity looked at the two up and down.
"Why in earth are you girls so sweaty??." She asked, disgust on her face.
Applejack chuckled. "We raced here. Can we go inside?? We really gotta cool down n' get a cool drink of water b'fore school starts."
"Of course." Twilight said, pushing up her glasses. "C'mon."
The four girls walked into the school, side by side.
The cool air of the high school was very refreshing. Rainbow sighed in relief.
"This air feels good." She commented.
"Yeah." Applejack agreed.
The girls walked over to the closet water fountain they could find. They each took a long drink of the cold, filtered water. Rainbow finished up her drink of water.
She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Man. That was some good water. Too bad I didn't bring a water bottle with me to school."
"Oh!. I brought some!." Twilight exclaimed.
She immediately knelt down and dug into her bag. She took out a water bottle and handed it to Rainbow.
"Thanks, Twilight." Rainbow said. "You're awesome."
Twilight smiled and stood up.
"I just always come prepared. That's all. But you're welcome."
Rainbow suddenly saw someone looking their way out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head to see a few Crystal Prep girls looking at her. They all had no wings or a crystal on their foreheads, signaling that they didn't have magic. They were humans. When they saw her looking back at them, they gave her a disgusted look. It made Rainbow really uncomfortable.
"You guys are actually talking to each other??." One girl with shoulder-length short green hair said to Rainbow.
Twilight, Rarity, and Applejack looked their way and frowned.
"What do you mean??." Rainbow asked, raising an eyebrow, already getting a bad vibe from the girls.
"In our school, our kind wouldn't ever talk to your kind." The girl said.
Rainbow looked confused for a moment.
"My kind??."
Applejack wrapped an arm around her waist, her other hand on her hip. She leaned in close to Rainbow's ear.
"It's best not to talk to them." She whispered quietly. "Ya'll know Crystal Prep. They only cause trouble fir our school."
Rainbow Dash crossed her arms. Oh she knew that well enough. She leaned into Applejack to help herself feel more secure about the situation and looked at her. Rainbow smiled up at Applejack, who smiled back, and kissed her lips.
She heard gasps and quick turned her head to look at the Crystal Prep students. The three girls looked at her, shocked and horrified.
"What??."
"Are you dating or something??." One of the other girls asked.
Rainbow and Applejack looked at each other. Rainbow took a deep breath and looked at the girl, a brave look on her face.
"Yeah. We are. So what??. It's accepted here."
"You're one of those people." The green haired girl said, narrowing her eyes, looking at Rainbow.
"A lesbian??." Rainbow asked. "Cuz heck yeah I am. Why??."
The green haired girl stood forward, a hip in her hip.
"I'm just surprised your girlfriend would go for your kind." She said, eyeing Rainbow. "You..... creatures."
Rainbow looked offended for a moment.
"You mean Aerians." Rainbow corrected her. "We're called Aerians."
"Whatever." The girl said.
"Why is so shocking that ah'm dating an Aerian??." Applejack asked.
The girl looked at her.
"Because us normal human beings shouldn't have to stoop that low."
"Now wait just a darn minute." Applejack said, taking her arm from around Rainbow's waist and taking her by the hand instead.
"Stoop that low?? What on earth are you talkin' about??. What's wrong with datin' an Aerian??."
"Everything." The green haired girl said.
The other two girls nodded in agreement.
"She's a lower class than you and different race. You could at least date a magic wielder. They don't look like freaks and are real citizens of Equestria."
"Real citizens??." Rarity asked.
"I am a citizen of Equestria." Rainbow argued.
"I have legal proof and papers and everything. I was born here. In Cloudsdale, technically, but that's still part of Equestria."
The green haired girl snorted.
"Yeah right. That place isn't connected here so it shouldn't count. You weren't in this land. So your kind needs to go back to your own land."
Rainbow looked beyond offended and the others looked beyond mad.
"I am a real citizen of Equestria and I don't care if you don't believe me." Rainbow said, crossing her arms. "But what does that have to do with me dating Applejack??"
The green haired girl scoffed.
"She shouldn't have to stoop down to dating a bird person. That's an insult to human kind."
"What's that suppose to mean??." Rarity said, a sour look on her face.
"Oh, so you think you're better than me because you're a human??." Rainbow sassed. "That's low. It doesn't matter what race I am."
The girls laughed.
"Of course it does." The blue haired girl spoke up.
"You bird people are nothing but trouble. Thinking you're so cool with you're wings, when really you're just freaks. Bird people are the minorities, honey, for a reason."
She stepped up to Rainbow Dash, getting into her personal space.
"Bird people are selfish, dangerous, and just weird looking. The world would be better if you didn't exist. Then us humans could take full control and make this world better. But unfortunately, we have to share it with ungrateful, arrogant, weak, and ugly creatures like you who take up space, take whatever they want without giving back, and make no contribution to society."
Rainbow glared at her.
"Oh yeah? You think I'm dangerous and weak?. Well, I'll show you dangerous and weak."
Applejack and Rarity grabbed her as Rainbow attempted to lunge at the other girl. The green haired girl backed away.
"See?? You've proven my point. Us humans and magic wielders have common sense and know how to behave. You bird people are crazy. It's despicable. You disgust me."
She slapped the bottle of water out Rainbow's hand. The bottle fell to the floor with a quiet thud. The green haired girl smirked at Rainbow Dash.
"Pick it up, bird girl."
Rainbow's mouth fell open at the word. She's never been called that word, but had heard another Aerian be called that by a magic wielder. It was incredibly offensive to her race. Rainbow had to hold herself together. This girl was lucky Rainbow's friends and Applejack were holding her back or else there'd be some teeth flying. Rainbow growled and knelt down and picked up the water bottle.
The green haired girl chuckled, looking down at Rainbow Dash.
"One day this is exactly where you'll belong. At our feet, doing whatever we command our little winged servants to do. If the world ever comes to its senses and separates our races again and us humans reclaim our rightful place as the dominant species, I'd want you to be my servant or pet. Just so I can laugh at you every day."
She gripped Rainbow's chin harshly. Applejack got in between them. She glared at the other girl.
"Don't touch her and how dare you speak ta her that way."
Rainbow stood up. The green haired girl looked at Applejack, almost shocked.
"How dare you defend that thing." Said said. "You're suppose to stick with your own kind. Not mix with the others. Maybe Magic wielders, but never bird people. Especially a girl-lover like her."
Applejack crossed her arms.
"That's mah choice who ah hang out with and date. Don't talk to mah girl like that. She ain't do anythin' bad to you. You don't know her and she don't know you. So leave it at that and walk away. School will be startin' soon."
Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Twilight watched as the girl gave Rainbow one last look over.
"Freak."
They walked away, going goodness knows where. Rainbow leaned against the lockers with an annoyed sigh. She crossed her arms tightly over her chest, glaring at the floor. Applejack watched the three Crystal prep girls walk away.
"Well." Rarity said, hand on her hips. "That was totally uncalled for. How dare those girls such vulgar things to you. Aerians are a beautiful specimen."
She looked at Rainbow Dash.
"Don't listen to them. Those are only three girls. They don't matter to you. They're just racist idiots who have nothing better to do."
Rainbow smiled unsurely.
"Yeah. You're probably right."
Suddenly the bell rang, making the four girls jump.
"C'mon, y'all." Applejack said.
"We gotta get to our lockers n' get ta homeroom."
"We'll see you girls in history class." Twilight said, smiling. "Then we'll all be together, so you won't have to worry about those girls."
Rainbow nodded. She pulled on a smile.
"Yeah. Let's forget about them."
The girls quickly headed down the hall, hoping they could get to their lockers and be somewhat in homeroom on time.
-------------------
Rainbow was trying her best. She stared at the teacher, forcing herself to try and make sense of the words coming out of her mouth. But how could she concentrate after what went down that morning?? It was seriously taking up all her headspace. Rainbow couldn't get the girl's words out of her mind. She'd hate to admit it, but her words really impacted and bothered Rainbow. The nerve of some people, calling her people such things.
Rainbow sat back in her chair, giving up paying attention.
She felt a soft nudge in her side. Rainbow turned her head to see Applejack looking at her, a worried expression on her face.
"You ok, sugarcube??." Applejack mouthed.
Rainbow shrugged, not really wanting to worry her girlfriend, but knew she couldn't lie to her as well.
The sudden ringing frightened Rainbow Dash, making her jump. All the other students in the room immediately got up, packing up their stuff and almost running out the door. Rainbow packed up her bag and slung it over a shoulder.
"Rainbow."
Rainbow looked up. She saw the girls standing there, looking at her.
"Are you alright??." Twilight asked. "You look really distracted today. Is everything alright??."
Rainbow smiled and nodded.
"Of course." Rainbow said, waving a dismissing hand, as if swatting something. "Stop worrying, you guys. I'm fine."
Applejack crossed her arms, giving her an unconvinced look. A look that demanded the truth. Rainbow noticed and shrunk back, trying her hardest not to let Applejack break her.
"Ahuh." Applejack, obviously not believing her for a second. "C'mon. Let's go home."
"Can we come, too??." Pinkie asked. "We can hang out."
"C'mon, y'all." Applejack said.
The girls walked out of the classroom together.
"Let's meet up in the student parking lot after we all go to our lockers." Sunset said.
"Good idea." Rainbow Dash said. "See you in a few."
They all went to their respective lockers. Rainbow Dash walked down the hallway, kicking a balled up piece of paper she found on the hallway floor. Rainbow pretended it was a soccer ball. She dribbled it down the hall, keeping in mind of where she was suppose to go.
Suddenly something hit the lockers in front of her, making her stop in her tracks and look up in surprise. She turned her head to see the girls from earlier standing there, looking like they were cool kids from a 90's tv show, leaning on the lockers and smirking. Rainbow crossed her arms.
"You know that could've hit me, right??"
"Oh, I know." The green haired girl said, smirking.
The three girls walked up to Rainbow Dash, surrounding her. Rainbow glared at them, tensing up.
"Hey. What's the big idea?." She snapped.
These girls were up to no good. Three against one was so unfair. Rainbow was a tough girl, but she couldn't take on three girls at once. Rainbow tried not to let her fear show. She wasn't going down without a fight.
"Your people needs to get out of our country." The purple haired girl said. "You feather freaks don't belong here. I thought we'd show you what we do to those who need to be put in their place."
The girls closed on Rainbow. Rainbow dropped, put her fists up, ready to fight. A punch was thrown.
---------------------------
"I'm fine, AJ. Quit worrying."
Twilight handed Applejack the ice pack. Applejack turned to Rainbow Dash. She held up the ice pack to Rainbow's face. Rainbow flinched at first but then relaxed.
"It's mah job ta worry about you, sugarcube. You got into a fight."
"I didn't exactly have a choice." Rainbow defended herself. "They cornered me."
"We should tell the principal." Twilight suggested. "This happened in school and this was a hate crime. They can't treat you like this."
"They won't get away with this." Sunset promised. "Do you know their names??."
Rainbow shook her head.
"I've never met them until today." She said. "They never told me their names. Probably for this very reason, so they don't get told on."
Rainbow shifted a little. She winced. The scratches and bruises that covered her toned body weren't so kind to her. Rainbow relaxed.
"Those stupid jerks." She huffed. "Now people are gonna see I got my butt kicked. So embarrassing."
"Don't worry." Applejack said. "They're not getting away with this. Ah promise. Tomorrow we'll go to Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna and tell em' what happened. There's gotta be some footage of what happened on camera."
"I don't know, AJ." Rainbow said, a bit uneasy. "What if it goes wrong and they come for me for revenge?? What if it's worse next time??. Plus, I'm no tattletale."
"Rainbow." Applejack said, seriously. "They did this to you because of your race. That's not right on any level. They need to be stopped before they do it again to someone else or they'll have more people like em'. Ah won't let them get away with it."
She leaned in and kissed Rainbow on the forehead. She smiled.
"Ah love you."
Rainbow sighed. Leave it to Applejack to take action when Rainbow won't. Rainbow looked at her.
"This isn't your battle to fight." She said.
"Ah don't care." Applejack said. "If you're gettin' hurt, ah'm gonna do something about it. You're mah girlfriend, so this is mah business, too."
Rainbow sighed again.
"Alright. Do what you need to do."
-------------------------
The girls marched down the hall, determination in their eyes. Rainbow was holding hands with Applejack as they walked from their home room to the principal's office. A few of her team members had spotted her on the way there. They asked what happened and Rainbow quickly summarized, "these three human girls from Crystal Prep hate me cuz I'm Aerian and cornered me after school."
Her teammates were shocked. But Rainbow was dragged away, so she couldn't say much else or hear their response. The girls headed down the hall, their minds set on their destination.
"Hey, bird girls!."
They suddenly stopped in the middle of the hall when they heard that name. The girls turned their heads and saw the three Crystal Prep girls, surrounded by other Crystal humans, standing there.
"Shouldn't you be in a cage??." One girl said, making the others laugh.
"What an ugly bird." A guy teased.
Rainbow stared down the green haired bully. The girl stood there, a stupid smirk on her face.
"I've never done anything to you." Rainbow said. "Why are you doing this?"
"Because you're disgusting and a freak and should know that." Another girl said.
"Hey! Leave her alone!." Pinkie shouted.
"Why are you standing up for a bird person??" The green haired girl asked. "You should be stinging to your own kind."
"That don't matter." Applejack said. "Why is it so wrong for all of us ta be friends??."
"How can you be friends??." A guy asked. "You're all integrated."
"It's not normal." Another said. "You're so different."
"Not really." Twilight said, smiled. "We may look different, but we're the same in many ways. We all love to hang out together and we enjoy each other's company. We may have separate personalities, but we also fit."
"I'm loud and always moving around." Rainbow said.
"And I'm not at all like that." Fluttershy said, her voice soft. "But we became best friends. We both respect each other and help each other. Rainbow helps me become more outspoken, and I calm her down when she's worked up and hyperactive. We've been best friends since we were little."
Rainbow and Fluttershy smiled at one another.
"But you're both Aerians. So that doesn't matters."
"I'm a magic wielder." Twilight spoke up. "And yet I'm friends with them. They don't mind my magic."
She stepped to the group of Crystal Prep students.
"At first, I was afraid of what they'd think of my magic. But these girls taught me that it's a part of me and that they don't mind it. If they're gonna be my friends, they need accept all of me. I'm still me. And I'm the same with them."
"And so what if we're different races." Applejack said.
She and Rainbow looked at each other.
"It ain't different than two of the same species dating. We love each other. Ah fell in love with her because she's tough, funny, very loyal, brave, fun, and she's a nice person. She doesn't judge others by appearance, and neither do ah. It's true that some winged species are greedy and bad, but that don't mean that all winged species are bad. You can't label all of em' the same when you only know part of the equation."
Applejack looked at them.
"We're really alike. We're both competitive to a point where we're rivals when it comes ta competitions, tough, stubborn as hell, strong and hard workin' and have a hidden sensitive side we don't let show very often. We both love our families and will do anythin' to protect the ones we love. When ah think of Rainbow Dash, her species don't come ta mah mind. Just things ah love about her. Her wings are what make her special. We all have something that make us special. So instead of hating on others because they're not like you, why don't you try to look past that to the heart. Their personality, their beliefs, their feelings, how they treat people. Species has nothing ta do with love or friendship. It's cheesy but, it's the inside that matters. You might find your new friends might be Aerians or Magic Wielders."
Applejack shrugged.
"But it's not mah job ta change your way of thinking. But it is mah job ta stand up for mah girlfriend against people like you. You honestly give humans a bad look. If you're goin' around hurtin' other people because you think they're lesser than you because of their species, then you might need ta re-evaluate your way of thinking. It's crazy. We're all different. We should embrace our differences and stop hating on each other. You're not perfect either. No one is."
Applejack chuckled.
"You're crazy if you think you are."
"I feel sorry for you guys." Rainbow said. "You're seriously missing out. Having everyone around be just like you seems boring to me. I like having people who aren't like me around. They challenge me and give me new perspectives on things and they may answers to questions or problems that I don't. And they make my life complete. These are greatest friends I could ask for and Applejack is the greatest girlfriend in the world and not because she's human."
Rainbow placed a hand on her hip.
"So you can say and do what you want to me. It won't change how I feel. And I won't stoop to your level and say something racist back. That's not how I roll. I've got better things to do with my time. So, goodbye and I honestly hope you all have a great life. I forgive you girls for what you did. That's the end of it."
Rainbow looked at Applejack.
"C'mon guys. Let's go."
The girls walked away, smiling. Rainbow looked over her shoulder as they did. She saw the three girls rolled their eyes, laugh and walk away. Some people can't be changed. But then she noticed one Crystal Prep human guy. He has dark green, gelled hair. A light blue haired, Aerian guy from CHS walked up to him. He was bubbly and the happy-go-lucky type. The Crystal Prep guy seemed surprise that he was talking to him. They started talking.
Rainbow stopped, causing the others to stop.
"Why'd you stop?" Twilight asked.
They looked at what Rainbow Dash was looking at. They watched the two guys talk awkwardly. Then they started to smile and shook hands. Rainbow smiled. The bell suddenly rang. Everyone dispersed, heading to their first class.
"We better get going." Sunset said.
Rainbow watched as the two guys talked for a moment more and then they walked down the hall, side by side. It warmed Rainbow's heart. She couldn't reach the girls, but at least she was able to reach those two. She hoped they'd be really good friends. One they saw that they weren't so different after all, the rest will go come along in time.
Wow. This took a few days to get done. Well, I hope you guys like this anyway. I feel like it's not as good as it could be. Comment what you think and any feedback or whatever :) I just really wanted to write this to shine some light in the darkness of all the racial stuff that's been going on. Remember. We're all human and share the same planet. Just give someone a chance and look past the the physical side of them and focus of the things you can't see. The things that really matter in a friendship or relationship :)
As always, I'll see you guys in the next update!!
