A dream vacation part 7 (2/2)
Enjoy :)
Applejack silently watched Rainbow Dash from beside her. She watched Rainbow push her food around on her plate, taking little bites every now and then. Rainbow just looked so sad. It broke Applejack's heart.
Rainbow shoved her scrambled eggs around, trying to make it smaller. She quietly sighed, putting her fork down. Rainbow rubbed her eyes.
"I can't do this." She whispered.
Applejack felt bad for her. She reached bed and placed a hand on her back.
"C'mon. You can do it. Try ta eat a little more."
Rainbow looked at her, tilting her head to the left. Applejack gave her the softest and gentlest smile she could.
"Please??. Try??."
Rainbow rested her chin on her hand, sighing.
"Fine."
Applejack took the fork off her plate and scooped up some of the scrambled eggs.
She held up the spoon to Rainbow's mouth. Rainbow stared at the food.
She rolled her eyes and open her mouth. Applejack fed her the "spoonful" of food.
"There we go." She said. "Good job."
The two sat there, Rainbow silently eating her food, Applejack feeding her.
Rainbow did her best to eat. Once she finished, Applejack smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Ah'm so proud of you, babe. You did it."
Rainbow didn't react.
"All I did was take a bath and eat."
Applejack shook her head.
"It's more than that, RD. You got out of bed, even when you felt like you couldn't. You brushed yir teeth and took a shower. You even washed yir hair today. You got dressed n' ate all this."
Applejack took both of Rainbow's hands in hers. Rainbow stared at her tiredly.
Applejack smiled back at her.
"Ah think that is a big accomplishment. Ah can tell it was difficult for ya ta do."
"You have no idea." Rainbow grumbled.
Applejack ran her hand through Rainbow's hair.
"So you actually did a lot this mornin' and Ah'm proud of you."
Rainbow smiled a little. "I did do a lot, didn't I??."
Applejack nodded. She looked at the men.
"What do you guys think??."
Strike, knowing Rainbow Dash and how her depression affected her on her bad days.
"I think so, too."
He got up and walked over to Rainbow and knelt down.
"So you took your meds, right??."
Rainbow nodded.
"Good."
He leaned up and kissed her forehead.
"That's my brave soldier girl."
He patted her leg gently.
"I think you deserve a nice nap and maybe the your medicine will take effect while you're sleeping. So, go to sleep for about forty five minted and then tell us how you feel."
Rainbow nodded. They all got up and cleaned up their mess. They walked back to Applejack and Rainbow Dash's room.
Once they got into the room, Rainbow headed straight to the bed. She slowly crawled under the sheets and laid down.
Applejack watched her and then turned to her dad and Strike.
"Ah'll keep an eye on her. Ah'll call you when she's awake, alright?? She's gonna be asleep for long."
"Alright." Jackson said. "Call us or come get us if you need us before then."
Applejack gave a nod. The two men walked out of the room, shutting the door. It closed with a soft click. The room was silent. Applejack went over to the bed. She sat down, pulling her phone out of her pocket. Applejack kicked off her boots and laid down on the cool sheets.
Applejack glanced over at Rainbow Dash. Rainbow was curled up, staring at the bedsheets.
"Try n sleep." Applejack said quietly.
Rainbow looked up at her, stared at her for a few seconds, then looked back down. She reached a hand out from under the blanket. She shyly reached out to Applejack.
Applejack reached out and took her hand. She kissed the back of her hand and then her knuckles.
"I love you, RD."
Rainbow smiled. "I love you too."
Applejack reached out and brushed Rainbow's bangs out of her face.
"Why're you so pretty??."
Rainbow rolled her eyes.
"I'm not." She whispered.
Applejack frowned. She scooted over so there was almost no space between the two girls. Applejack cupped Rainbow's cheek with her hand. Vibrant green eyes stared into tired dark rose eyes.
"Don't believe the lies yir head is trying to tell you. Depression is a liar. It's only tryna bring you down. You're beautiful to me and no matter what you say or think will change that."
Rainbow smiled. "Thanks. I needed that."
"Get some sleep. Ah'll wake up in about an hour."
Rainbow smiled. She snuggled into the sheets and the pillow and closed her eyes. Applejack continued to play with her hair, knowing it would put her to sleep. Soon enough, Rainbow was snoring lightly. Asleep. Applejack sighed.
"Why can't you just leave her alone??." She asked, as if she could talk to Rainbow's depression.
"You just had to pop up and come along with us on our vacation."
Applejack hoped that Rainbow would feel better.
---------------
Rainbow felt someone gently shake her. She groaned and shifted. Her eyes opened. Her vision was blurry. She rubbed her eyes, then blinked. Her vision became clear and Rainbow could see Applejack sitting beside her, looking down at her with a smile.
Rainbow smiled. "Hey."
"How do you feel??." Applejack asked.
Rainbow sat up. She yawned and stretched. She paused. She didn't feel sad. She didn't feel weighed down. She didn't feel tired. She was felt somewhat normal.
She grinned. "I feel better."
Applejack smiled. "That's great." She said sincerely.
Rainbow Dash pulled back the covers. She got out of bed and stretched.
Applejack got out of bed and walked over to her. She walked up to her and took her by the hand.
"You sure you feel okay??." She asked.
Rainbow nodded. "Just......"
She sighed, holding herself.
"I don't know how I feel, actually. I'm just tired now."
Applejack knew she wasn't up to do anything big or over the top. It'd probably be best to do something relaxing yet fun. The pool.
Applejack smiled.
"How about we go to the pool today and the go zip linin' n' go-kart racin' tomorrow?. How does that sound??."
Rainbow nodded with a smile. "Okay." She said. "I don't think I could go go-kart racing today, anyway. Tomorrow."
Applejack gave a nod and kissed her on the cheek.
"Alright. Ah'll go tell Strike and mah dad."
----------
Rainbow sat at the edge of the pool, staring down at edge of the water. She had her legs in the water. It felt kinda warm. The sun was up and it heated up everything.
"RD."
Rainbow sat up. She saw Applejack, Strike, and Jackson a few meters away, swimming around in the pool. Strike waved Rainbow over.
"C'mon Rainbow." He called.
Rainbow shrugged and went back to looking at the water. She really wanted to go in, but something was holding her back. Plus, Applejack and the guys looked like they were having fun without her. She didn't want to ruin it with her presence.
"Rainbow."
Rainbow looked up. She saw Applejack swimming towards her. Rainbow watched her swim up to the side of the pool. Applejack smiled up at her.
"C'mon." She said, enthusiasm in her voice. "Ah miss you. It's no fun without cha."
Rainbow shrugged. "I don't wanna ruin your fun."
Applejack laughed. "Ruin it?? Rainbow. There's no fun without you there."
Applejack held out her hands.
Rainbow gave in. She slowly scooted closer over the edge. She lowered herself into the water. Rainbow took Applejack's hands. Applejack kissed her cheek.
"Good. Now the fun starts."
Applejack and Rainbow swam over to the men.
"It's about time you joined." Strike said, grinning. "I was starting to worry."
Rainbow looked at Applejack. She held her breath and dunked herself under the water. She came back up and breathed in. Pushing hair out of her face, she smiled.
"C'mon." Applejack said.
The two swam off. When they were far enough away, they dove underwater. Rainbow and Applejack looked at Applejack. They smiled at each other, their hair floating around in the water.
Applejack took Rainbow's hand and pulled her towards her, wrapping her arm around Rainbow's waist. She pressed their lips together. Rainbow smiled, feeling Applejack's lips on hers. It made her stomach go all flip flop with excitement.
They pulled away. Applejack and Rainbow stared at each other.
"Thanks." Rainbow said "for not giving up on me. I'm glad you uh, brought me here."
Applejack smiled. She kissed Rainbow on the lips. Rainbow blushed.
Applejack pulled away from the kiss.
"No problem, babe. Tomorrow will hopefully be a better day."
Rainbow frowned. She sighed. "I'm sorry for how I was today. I didn't mean to be all gloomy and-."
"Nonono." Applejack cut her off, shaking her head. "There's nothin' ta be sorry about. You can't control your depression. You can't. Ah was glad ta help, anyway. You're mah girlfriend n' ah ain't gonna let you deal with this in your own. Vacation or no vacation, there will always be things we can't control from popping up. So, we just gotta deal with it n' fight it as best we can."
Rainbow smiled. Tears filled her eyes. She blinked, letting them fall. Rainbow giggled.
"You're the best."
Applejack smiled. "No. You are."
Rainbow shrugged. "I know."
Rainbow had the sudden urge to cry. More tears sprang up. She pursed her lips together, willing herself not to cry in public. Applejack frowned, noticing her change of attitude.
"You okay??."
Rainbow nodded, not trusting her voice. If she spoke, she'd start crying. And she was NOT gonna cry here. Nope. Not happening. She was not gonna be weak in public, especially in front of Applejack right now. Yes, she had weak moments in front of her girlfriend before, but she hated it. She had to be strong. She could do it.
"You sure??."
Rainbow nodded. Rainbow dunked herself under the water. She came back up and smiled, knowing that the water would mask her tears.
"What was the question??." She asked.
Applejack stared at her for a moment.
"Are you sure you're alright??."
Rainbow nodded. "Yeah. I'm better."
Rainbow's chest tightened. She felt the tears still building up. She stiffened herself, her jaw clenched.
Applejack still watched her.
"Rainbow. Don't do that." She said quietly. "Don't hold back. Ah just wanna make sure you're really alright. Don't hide how you feel. It'll make you sick if you're holdin back."
Rainbow nodded.
Rainbow felt her face softened. She desperately tried to hold on, harden her exterior. She couldn't be weak again. She looked away from Applejack, letting a shaky breath.
Applejack suddenly hugged her. Rainbow felt her arms wrap around her. Rainbow hugged back. She finally stopped fighting it. She let out a broken sob.
"Applejack."
Applejack's hug became tighter. Rainbow started to sob her heart out right then and there. She clung on to Applejack. She buried her face in the crook of Applejack's neck.
She cried and cried. It felt good. Great, even, to be able to let all her emotions and frustrations out. She cried until she couldn't anymore. Rainbow sniffled and raised her head. She looked up at Applejack.
"Thanks."
Applejack smiled. "It's fine. Feel better??."
Rainbow smiled and nodded. "Yeah."
"Rainbow sniffled and sighed. "Don't tell anyone I cried." She mumbled.
Applejack reached up and wiped a tear away with her thumb.
"Course not."
She kissed Rainbow's forehead.
"Now, C'mon. We have all day ta be here."
Rainbow smiled. Applejack turned around and let Rainbow hold on to her. The girls swam on, giggling and just having the best time in each other's company, not worrying about the people around them.
So yeah. Let me know what you guys think of this :) it'll be all happy and sappy and cute from now on
