The halls were filled with whispers.
Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy walked down the hall. The girls were very much aware of the other students.

"Why's everyone staring at us??", Fluttershy asked.

"I'm not sure", Twilight replied quietly.

As the six headed through the school to their class, they heard bits of conversation.

"She has to be mental".

"I heard that she attacked someone that ticked her off. She went crazy on him".

"Freaking psycho".

"Who are they talking about??", Applejack asked Rainbow.

Rainbow just shrugged, keeping her eyes on the ground.

"Let's just ignore them", she said. "C'mon".

She walked faster, gently pushing past her friends. The others stopped and watched as Rainbow quickly walked down the hall.

"What was that about??", Twilight asked.

Applejack watched her girlfriend turn the corner and dissappear.

"Ah'm gonna find out".

Applejack jogged down the hall. She caught up to Rainbow Dash.

"Rainbow", she called.

Rainbow stopped and turned to look back at her. She saw Applejack and turned to face her, crossed crossed, eyes on the floor.

Applejack walked up to her.

"What's wrong??".

Rainbow shrugged. "Just having a bad week I guess", she said.

Applejack was getting concerned for her girlfriend. She didn't like it when Rainbow was upset. It didn't look good on her.

"Alright then. Cmere".

Rainbow took a step foward. Applejack took her hands.

"Ah love you" .

Rainbow gave her a half smile.

"I love you too".

Applejack looked at her for a moment.

"If you need ta talk ta me or get somethin off your chest, ah'm always here ta listen. Always. That's what girlfriends do. So come ta me if you need me".

Rainbow nodded. "I will".

This happened for weeks. Everywhere the girls went together or just Applejack and Rainbow Dash, they were stared at and pointed at. The whispers continued.

Rainbow's mood seemed to change dramatically. She refused to talk to any other students and wore a hoodie when entering the school. She was quiet during most of the day, exeot when the girls were all together. Applejack noticed that other students stayed away from Rainbow Dash at all costs.

Rainbow still wouldn't tell her what was wrong. But today had been the last straw.

Rainbow was practically begging Applejack not to make her go to school the next morning.

Applejack crossed her arms.

"You have ta go. We have a test in English class".

Rainbow whined.

"Please, Applejack. I don't wanna go. It'll be terrible. I don't want to go back".

"Why not??", Applejack asked, hands on her hips. "Tell me and maybe ah'll understand why".

Rainbow sighed. "I can't tell you".

This got Applejack's attention. When someone says they can't tell someone something, it's because something is terribly wrong.

"Rainbow".

She took Rainbow's hand.

"What's goin on??. Do you know why everyone at school is avoiding you??"

Suddenly it clicked. How could she have not seen it before??. It was so obvious.

"Rainbow", she said seriously. "Ah need ya ta be honest with me, okay??".

Rainbow looked at her. She nodded.

"Are people at school saying stuff about you??".

"I'm pretty sure", Rainbow said. "I don't know what they're saying about me, but I know someone spread rumors about me. I can guess who started them".

Applejack couldn't believe it. Someone was spreading rumors about Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow looked at the floor.

"I've heard bits and pieces of what people are saying and it isn't good".

"Why didn't you tell me??", Applejack asked. "Me and the gals coulda helped you and put a stop to it".

Rainbow shrugged. "I thought I could handle it on my own. I thought it'd be over by now. But it's only getting worse. I think a new rumor is starting that I cheated on you with a teacher or something. It's not pretty".

Rainbow sighed. "I just didn't want you guys to get caught up in that".

Applejack shook her head. Wrapping her arms around Rainbow, she looked at her.

"Thanks fir telling me, babe. Now that ah know, you don't have ta feel alone".

Rainbow shrugged. "I still feel alone. They're only talking about ME".

"Well you have me and ah'm gonna find out what they're sayin' about cha so ah can stop this b'fore it gets any worse".

Rainbow nodded. "Thanks".

The two walked down the school hallway. The stares and the whispers were still going on throughout the day. Rainbow did her best to ignore them. By the end of the day, she was itching to leave for the weekend.

Applejack held Rainbow's hand in hers as they walked

"Just keep yir head up", she whispered to Rainbow. "Don't let em know they're getting to ya".

Rainbow was fighting the urge to run away and hide for the rest of the day.

She and Applejack made it to their lockers. Rainbow gasped quietly. Someone had written in sharpie on her locker.

Emo psycho

Rainbow looked around. She saw everyone looking at her.

"Hey".

Rainbow turned around. She saw Trixie standing there, smirking.

"Is it true that you tried to kill yourself??".

She spoke loud enough so nearly everyone within hearing range could hear her. Rainbow was frozen.

Trixie.

"Did you start the rumors??", she asked quietly.

Trixie gave a one shouldered shrug. It was a yes.

"Is it true?".

Rainbow didn't say anything. She didn't know what to say.

"I know about your dad", Trixie said, a mock pout on her face. "Daddy hurt his little girl".

Rainbow couldn't believe someone could be so cruel and make fun of her for that. She had to hold Applejack back. The blonde teen was ready to kill Trixie.

Trixie crossed her arms.

"I wouldn't be surprised if you really did attack someone. After all, with the kind of pycho dad you have, you must be just as crazy if you tried to kill yourself. I saw your scars too".

"You have no right ta go around talkin' about her", Applejack said. "Rainbow is not crazy".

"You don't know that", Trixie said. "She could be secretly plotting ways to kill you. Rainbow Dash can't be trusted. Especially after she tried to kill herself".

"You told people about that??", Rainbow said, horror on her face.

Trixie shrugged. "Everyone knows. I'm just being a good person and warning people about you. I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt by the crazy suicidal freak".

Applejack heard enough.

"SHUT UP".

Trixie and Rainbow looked at her. Applejack was about to go off on her.

"First off, you have no right ta spread rumors about someone. It's wrong on so many levels. Second of all, you hate Rainbow Dash. That's why you're doing this. Rainbow is not crazy. She's never hurt anyone in her life".

Applejack pointed at Rainbow Dash.

"She is the most amazing, funny, beautiful, smart and most harmless person ah've ever met. She'd never hurt anyone. Just because she had a bad past doesn't define who she is. She is not her dad. She's herself".

Applejack knew everyone was listening. She glanced around the hall.

"Ah want everyone ta know that Rainbow isn't psychotic. She wouldn't be in a public school if she was. She'd be in a mental ward. Duh. It's common sense".

Applejack chuckled humorlessly.

"Then again. Most of y'all don't know Rainbow personally. So you believe what chu hear. But it's still wrong ta talk bad about someone ya don't even know. How do you know she's crazy??. You don't know her or her life. You can't know fir sure".

"But she did try to commit suicide and cuts herself", Trixie stated.

Applejack look at her.

"That doesn't mean she's crazy", Applejack said. "Imagine yourself in her shoes as a kid. Her mom died when she was six. Her dad was an abusive alcoholic. Now imagine getting beaten everyday by a man six times your size for years on end. Depression is bound ta creep up on ya. If it doesn't, then you're lucky. But Rainbow wasn't so lucky. Depression got to her and affected her badly. I can't speak for her, but ah can only say that if you're a little girl and stuck in this life and you can't do anything but take the abuse all those years with no end in sight, you'd probably do anythin' ta end the pain, right??".

It was silent.

"Exactly", Applejack said.

"Rainbow couldn't take it anymore. Everyone has a breaking point. Noone is invincible. We're human. We have limits and emotions that sometimes get the best of us. Ah guess that's what happened ta Rainbow. She was done. She couldn't do it anymore".

Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash. The teen was looking back at her. .
Applejack looked around.

"And no. Suicide is not a coward's way out. Sometimes people see it as the only way out out of their situation. I mean, who wants ta live in pain and sufferin'??. No one".

Applejack looked around at the other students. A few teachers were standing by, but was also listening.

"And that rumor about her cutting", Applejack said.

She looked at Rainbow for permission. Rainbow nodded. Applejack continued.

"Ah wanna make it clear. Cutting doesn't mean someone is crazy. It could mean they're trying to deal with something mentally and it's the only way they know how to make it stop for a while so they don't break down or burst into tears every day or something. I don't know. But I do know that it's none of yir business ta be goin' around tellin people things that you have no business talkin about. You like ta ruin Rainbow's life so you decide ta make her the alien of the school and have everyone treat her different because of somethin' she can't control or change".

Applejack stopped. She took a second to calm down.

"So now you know. Trixie is a liar and the some of the rumors may be true, but is not crazy. She's safe ta be around. Don't believe everythin ya hear. This ends now. No more rumors. No more talking about Rainbow Dash or or point in at her and staring at her. She would never hurt anyone".

Rainbow looked around. Everyone seemed relaxed and back to normal.

Applejack looked at her girlfriend.

"C'mon", she said. "Get chur stuff and let's go".

The two got their stuff and out their books away. Applejack took Rainbow's hand. She led Rainbow down the hall. They turned a corner, out of sight. Rainbow turned to Applejack. She hugged her.

"Thanks AJ. You're the best".

Applejack smiled, hugging back.

"You're welcome. Ah had ta clear it all up so every would know the real story. Trixie was able ta convince the school. Hope ya don't mind".

Rainbow shook her head.

"I didn't mind. As long as it got your point across and you got everyone to listen and hear the real story, it doesn't matter. Now they know".

Applejack held her hands.

"The rumors will stop. Ah promise".

Rainbow smiled. "I believe you".

"Rainbow".

The two turned their heads. They saw the other girls walking towards them. Rainbow crossed her arms loosely, looking at her shoes.

"Rainbow. Why didn't you tell us about what was going on??", Fluttershy asked.

"Yeah", Pinkie said. "Everyone was being mean to you. We could've helped you".

Rainbow sighed. "I'm sorry. I'm just didn't want to get you guys involved and have rumors started about you guys too. I thought I could handle it and it'd go away. But it didn't and Applejack got it out of me yesterday".

"So is everything okay??", Rarity asked. "It'd hate to have everyone continue to gossip about you".

Rainbow looked at Applejack. She smiled.

"I think the rumors will go away soon".

"It'll be gone by Monday", Applejack said. "Ah can promise you that".

Applejack leaned over and kissed her cheek.

"It's over now. So don't chu worry".

Rainbow sighed and smiled in relief.

"C'mon", Applejack said. "Let's get home".

"Can we order pizza??", Rainbow asked.

Applejack nodded. "Sure, babe".

The group headed down the hall and out the doors. Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash as they walked to the student parking lot.

"If anythin' like that happens again, ya better tell me so ah can help ya".

Rainbow smiled at her. "I will. Promise".

Applejack wrapped an arm around her waist.

"Good. Ain't no one messin with you", she said. "No one".
