Let's just say that when Applejack and Rainbow Dash told their friends the news, Rarity squealed so loudly, Rainbow forcefully plugged her ears because the high pitched sound hurt her sensitive ears. She hid behind Applejack, using her shirt to plug her ears, whimpering in annoyance.

Applejack had given Rarity a look and she got herself under control. The rest of the girls congratulated them. Then they had revealed to the couple that they had known they'd liked each other for quite some time.

Even Applejack's dad wasn't surprised when the girls told him they were a couple. He was happy for them and gave them a big bear hug. Rainbow then bluntly stated that Jackson was huge like a giant.

Then she got a yellow sticky note and wrote BIG FRIENDLY GIANT on it with marker. She asked Jackson to bend down. She then slapped the sticky note on his forehead. Applejack and Jackson laughed, not surprised at Rainbow's actions. Rainbow just smiled, not completely sure why she'd done that.

But anyway, Jackson was accepting of their new relationship.

The first few weeks were great. The girls went about their normal life, as if nothing had changed other than the kissing and the sickeningly cute nicknames they'd call each other. Mostly Applejack would call Rainbow a nickname like "babe" or "baby" or "beautiful" or "cutie". Rainbow would blush every single time.

Rainbow would call Applejack "Apples" or "AJ" or "most awesomest girl in the whole wide universe"

Every once in a while Rainbow give her a little gift, like wild flowers that she picked from a field not too far from their house. They did live near the city, but in an area that wasn't crowded by busy streets and tons of people and cars and sound.

Once she brought Applejack her teddy bear.

She just sat down beside Applejack where she was sitting at her grand piano, writing a song.

"Hey." Applejack said, grinning at her.

Rainbow held up a raggedy old teddy bear.

"Here." She said, smiling shyly.

Applejack looked at the teddy bear in front of her. She slowly reached up and carefully took it from Rainbow's hands. She examined it. The teddy bear that Rainbow had bring with her when she first arrives was old and slightly dirty and worn out. There was a tear in the stomach and left arm. One of the button eyes were missing.

Applejack looked up. Rainbow grinned at her happily.

"You know." Applejack said. "You never told me about this thing. Where'd you get it from??."

"My parents." Rainbow replied, a slight sad hinted in her tone.

Applejack frowned. "Yir parents. You never talk about them."

Rainbow sighed and looked away. Applejack put the bear down, suddenly concerned and very interested in what Rainbow had to say about her parents.

"Rainbow." She said softly. "Where're yir mom n' dad??."

Rainbow turned her head away. She didn't say anything. Applejack could tell it hurt to even say it. Were they dead??

"Rainbow. Baby."

Applejack slowly reached a hand out and turned Rainbow's head so she was looking at Applejack. Applejack could see the pain in her big eyes.

"Where are they??."

Rainbow let out a sigh, looking down at her hands.

"They're dead."

Applejack felt her heart break. She looked down at the light brown, messed up stuffed bear.

"Then........ why're you givin' me this??." She asked.

Rainbow smiled. "Because this is how much I love you." She said. "I'd give you anything I have, even if I have so little."

Applejack's heart melted at her words. They meant more to her than any stupid guitar or song. Applejack could feel herself falling more in love with Rainbow Dash.

"My parents gave me that when I was a baby." Rainbow Dash. "I don't remember them very much. They died when I was about five so I don't have much experience with family stuff."

She smiled. "All I know is that the last thing they said to me."

Applejack gently reached out and took her hand.

"What did they tell you?"

Rainbow sighed, looking away, remembering something. Tears built up in her eyes but she refused to cry.

"Well, they were trying to escape the lab we were being held captive in since before my mom was pregnant with me. I remember a lot from that day, actually."

She looked away, continuing the story.

"They had broken us out of our room that we were being kept in, my mom holding me. They had gotten us past the guards and almost to the entrance when there a loud bang. My dad was shot. I remember looked at him fall on the floor, blood coming out."

Applejack could almost imagine it in her head. The fear and the adrenaline of it all. Poor kid.

"My mom ran with me. She got away, but I think.we were being chased. I remember she had my head pressed up against her chest, her hand on my back. I could hear her quick breathing since she was running. I don't think I cried when my dad was shot, since I didn't understand what was going on."

Rainbow cleared her throat, blinking a few times, trying to keep the tears at bay.

"My mom got me to an this thingy in the wall. She got me inside and told that to go through it and keep crawling till I got outside. I remember not wanting to leave her. I told her to come with me."

Rainbow clenched her free hand into a tight fist. She had that look in her eyes, indicating that she was going back to that moment in her life.

"Then she said hugged me and said....... Rainbow. I can't come with you. You have to go by yourself. Don't be afraid. It'll be okay."

A tear escaped, rolling down her left cheek.

"Then she told me 'I want you to do something for me and daddy. I want you to know that we love you and no matter what, don't let any mean things people say make you sad. Be brave for mommy and never let anyone tell me who you are. Don't let people's words define you. You're special. You're beautiful. You're loved. Never forget us and who you are."

Applejack was amazed how this girl could remember every single thing she was told ten years ago. It was impressive, but the words broke her heart.

"We love you, baby. No matter what, remember that we love you."

Rainbow was in tears, the salty tears running down her face. She sniffled and wiped her face. She sighed.

"She gave me Mr.Bearbear and said that we should take care of each other when we got scared."

Applejack looked down at the bear. How could one little, broken thing, hold so much pain and hope??. Applejack looked up at Rainbow. She pulled her in for a hug.

Rainbow hugged back, laying her head on Applejack's chest. Applejack tried her hardest to squeeze the love into Rainbow, hoping to whatever god out there that Rainbow would feel it.

"Ah love you." She said.

Rainbow sniffled. She pulled away from the embrace, smiling. She looked up at AJ.

"I know you do." She said. "I love you, too."

Rainbow Dash looked at the bear in Applejack's hand.

"So take good care of Mr.Bearbear"

Applejack smiled. "Ah will. Ah promise."

Rainbow yawned. She stretched.

"Nap time." She said. Applejack giggled. "Alright. Go take a nap. Ah'll be here."

Rainbow kissed her cheek and got up. She walked away. Applejack looked down at the bear. She couldn't believe all that Rainbow Dash had been through.

This bear had been through a lot with the hybrid girl. She was so strong. She looked at all the tears and and missing stuff on the bear.

She smiled. She suddenly realized Rainbow's birthday was coming up in a few weeks.

She had an idea.
