The girls groaned. It was summer time and hot. They were in Twilight's house, or an inferno as they would call it.

"What's the temperature outside??", Applejack asked.

"90 degrees", Twilight replied.

Suddenly an idea popped in her head.

"Why don't we go swimming??", she suggested.

The girls perked up at the idea. That sounded like a great idea.

"Mermaid cove??. I wanna see Rainbow", Pinkie asked excitedly.

They had become really good friends with Rainbow. They even met Scootaloo, a friend of hers.

Twilight nodded. "Let's get ready".

They began to pack their stuff in a hurry. Getting their bathing suites, towels, sunscreen, goggles, they even made sandwiches for later.

They drove down to the cove. Getting out they made sure noone one else was around.

They headed towards the cove.

"Hand me the rope. I almost have her", they heard a man's voice.

It was coming from the entrance of the cove.

They stopped and listened. "Come here little fishy girl. Come to papa".

Applejack gasped. "Rainbow".

The girls dropped everything and ran towards the voice. No way was ANYBODY going to touch Rainbow Dash.

The stopped in their tracks. Rainbow was being cornered by a few men. They saw her shaking.

"HEY, LEAVE HER ALONE!!".

Applejack watched as the men turned around. They smirked when they saw the girls.

"Run along kids. There's nothing to see here".

The girls didn't move. "We ain't leaving her here with you too monsters", Rarity scowled.

The men frowned. "Alright then. We'll have to make you leave".

There were 6 men but 5 girls.

Five of the men went after them.

The girls were pretty fast and was able to take them down.

There was only one guy left. When they found him they stopped. Rainbow was in his grasp. The man held her by her arms.

"Hehe, guess you girls can fight but you weren't fast enough".

Beside him was a crate. The guy pulled it next to him. Dragging Rainbow out of the water, he roughly dropped her in.

"Oww".

"Shut up. You ain't a person so you can't say anything".

With those words in the air Applejack ran up to the man and tackled him.

"Wha!!".

The two fell into the water. "Twilight!!", AJ called over her shoulder.

Twilight ran over to them.

She touched the man on the shoulder, sending him unconscious. AJ looked at him and moved his head.

"Okay, that was fun". She stood up. Turning she saw Rarity, Pinkie, and Fluttershy around Rainbow Dash. The girl looked frightened.

The blonde looked at Twilight. The two ran over to their friends.

"Are you alright??", she asked kneeling before the mermaid. Rainbow nodded, shaking still.

"I'm okay".

Applejack gently took her in her arms an lifted her out of the crate.

The two went into the water.

"Thank you. For saving me", Rainbow said.

Applejack smiled. "I wasn't about to let you get hurt. Mermaids aren't meant for us humans to take. You're not poperty".

Rainbow smiled. When Applejack was waist deep in the water she lowered Rainbow into the water. Rainbow clung to her arm. Totally submerged she swam around a bit. She felt safe, but not fully safe. Surfacing she looked at the girls.

"Could you, you know, stay a while??".

They smiled.

"Coarse we can. That's why we came here. It's only been half an hour and 12. We've got all day to be here".

Applejack turned around.

"Can you girls get the stuff. Remember when we dropped everything??".
The 4 smiled and nodded. They turned and left.

When they came back they all got in the water.

"This feels so good!!", Twilight sighed, floating on her back".

"I couldnt agree more", Rarity said.

The girls relaxed in the cooling water. The felt all the heat go away.

Rainbow watched them.

"You guys must've been hot. I can feel the heat in the air. At least you don't live in the volcano guizers. That plCe gets hot even though it's underwater".

AJ looked at her. "Guizers??. That sounds dangerous".

Rainbow nodded. "It is", she said. "Once a merfolk got incinerated trying to get past it. You have to watch for the patterns of the guizers. Those things will burn you really badly if your lucky to even get out".

The mermaid swam up to a partly submerge rock and sat on it, the top of her tail showed where her thighs would be if she were human.

Rarity swam up to her.

"You know, you would look gorgeous in one of my accessories".

Rainbow looked at her shocked. That was unexpected. She was never one of those frou frou girls.

"I'll bring something for you tomorrow. Maybe a cuff for your arm. It would amazing on you. Maybe something for your tail".

The fashionista squealed.

"I have the perfect one for you, you'll see".

Rainbow smiled. "Thanks Rare".

"No problem darling". Rarity frowned.

"I still cant believe you don't have a boyfriend. You're gorgeous". Rainbow blushed.

"Yeah um about that-".

"It's alright Rainbow. I am too".

Rainbow looked at Applejack in confusion.

"What??".

"I know you like girls. I do too".

Applejack smiled kindly at her. Rainbow was shocked. "How did you know??".

"I have my ways". Rainbow blushed.

"Oh um alright then".

"So, anyone caught your eye??".

Rainbow shook her head. "No, well maybe. But they wouldn't like me that way anyways. We're too different".

The girls frowned. Too different??.

"What do you mean??".

"Hey uh Applejack. We uh forgot something. Girls could lend me a hand??. AJ darling stay here with Rainbow Dash. We'll be just a few minutes".

Rarity pulled Fluttershy, Pinkie, and Twilight out of the water and away from the cove.

"Ok. That was weird", Rainbow said.

Applejack laughed. "You have no idea".

The two sat there for a minute.

"So, um Applejack". Said girl looked at the mermaid.

"Thank you again, for saving me. I don't think I would have been able to get away if it wasn't for you".

Rainbow looked at her. She reached out and placed away hand on her shoulder.

AJ smiled back.

"I would never let anything happen to you. You mean a lot to me and-".

Rainbow smiled.

"Yeah...".

Applejack took a deep breath. "I think I like you".

Rainbow's eyes widened. A smile formed on her lips. She slipped into the water. Applejack looked into her eyes.

"I like you alot".

She took Rainbow's hand.

"Would you consider being my girlfriend??".

Rainbow smiled. She wrapped her arms around Applejack.

"I'd love to".

AJ hugged her back, relieved and happy. She pulled away and kissed Rainbow on the cheek.

"This is so cute!!".

They pulled apart. The girls had returned. They looked like they were gunna explode in happiness.

"So are you a couple now??", Rarity asked.

The two looked at eachother. Rainbow looked down, avoiding her eyes.

"You don't have to admit being with me to anyone. You could pretend to not like me and we keep this hidden. I'm used to it so I'll be fine".

Applejack's eyes narrowed.

"No".

Rainbow looked up at her.

"I'm not ashamed of you or afraid to tell them. I know you aren't but you don't think I would want anyone to know about you. I'm not hiding you. I love you too much to do that".

She looked at the girls.

"Why yes Rarity. We are a couple now".

The kids gasped and ran into the water. They surrounded the girls.

"Oh that's wonderful. We are so happy for you".

Rainbow and Applejack smiled at eachother.

"Are you sure about this??", Rainbow asked.

"Rainbow. I am very sure. You are my girlfriend and I like you for you".

Applejack took her hand in her own. She smiled at her.

"So, what do we do now??".

Rainbow suddenly felt vibrations in the water.

"Get out", she said.

She had a look of panic in her eyes.

"Go hurry. There's an underwater earthquake going on. Get out of the water".

"But what about you??", AJ asked.

"I have to get back to the kingdom. Go, hurry".

She pushed the girls to move. They began to get out of the water. Standing very still they could see the vibrations in the water.

Rainbow swam backwards.

"See you soon I hope".

With that she dissappeared underwater.
