Applejack continued walking.

"Hello Applejack".

She looked up from her book to see Gaston standing there smirking.

"Oh, hello Gaston".

Gaston walking around her and snatched her book away. He looked it over, a disgusted look on his face.

Applejack rolled her eyes. "Gaston, can ah please have mah book??".

"How can you read this??", he asked flipping through the pages. "It doesn't have any pictures".

Applejack grabbed the book out of his hands. "Well, some people like to use their imagination", she said.

Gaston looked at her. "Applejack. It's about time you got your head out of those books and started paying attention to more important things. Me".

A few feet away three brown haired girls were fawning over him. He threw the book away. It landed into a puddle. Applejack hurried over to it amd picked it up.

"The whole town's talking about it. It's not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas and thinking".

He made a face as he talked.

"Gaston", Applejack said. "You are positively primeval".

Gaston smirked. "Why thank you Applejack. Hey", he said taking her book once again. "Would do ya say me and you talk a walk over to the tavern and take a look at my trophies??".

Applejack backed up. "Maybe some other time", she said snatching her book back. "Ah've really gotta get home to help my dad".

Her house was just down the road. Skyline walked up beside Gaston.

"That crazy old loon??. He needs all the help he can get", he laughed.

Applejack looked at the guy furiously.

"Don't talk about my father that way!!".

"Yeah!!", Gaston agreed smacking him in the back of the head. "Don't talk about her father that way!!".

Applejack placed a hand on her hip and glared at them.

"Mah dad is not crazy. He's a genius!!", she said.

Perfect timing. A boom was heard. It was from her home. Applejack gasped when she saw that someone went off in the house causing the inside to be foggy. She ran down to her house, ignoring the laughing from the two men.

She ran towards the front door. Opening it she saw a cloud of dust and something else. She entered the cellar. Smoke and dust was everywhere.

"Papa??", she called clearing the smoke as best she could.
She saw her father trying to squeeze out of a part of his newest contraption. She walked over to him. He was much shorter than her so Applejack and to leaned down to be eye to eye with him.

"Are you alright??", she asked.

Her father grumbled. "I'm about to give up with this thing. I can't get it to work".

Applejack smiled. The smoke had finally cleared up. Applejack smiled.

"You've said that before".

Her father frowned. "We'll I mean this time. I'll never get this thing to work".

"Yes you will", Applejack said. "An you'll win first place in the fair tamorrow".

She kneeled down and placed a hand on his shoulder. "An become uh world famous inventor".

Her father looked at her. "You really believe that??".

She nodded. "Ah always do".

He nodded. "Well, no time to lose. Let me see".

He got a few tools. as he worked Applejack sighed.

"I got a new book today papa", she said.

"Papa??. Do ya think ah'm odd??".

Her father looked at her. "My daughter, odd??. Of coarse not. Who told you that??".

Applejack shrugged. "Noone. Ah just....".

She opened her book. "Ah feel like ah don't fit in here. There's noone fir me ta talk to".

"What about that Gaston guy??. He's good lookin".

Applejack sighed. "Oh he's good lookin alright. And self-centered and arrogant and rude. He's not for me".

"Well don't you worry", her father said. "This invention here is gunna be the start of a new life for us".

He walked over to her.

"I think it's ready. Let's give it a go".

He waked over to a lever and pulled it. Standing back the two watched it buff and shake. There were buzzing and grinding sounds. Suddenly the axe began to chop wood.

"It works!!", Applejack exclaimed excitedly.

The two cheered. Her father smiled. "It really works. I must be off for the fair at once".

"Ah'll go get Sampson ready with the wagon. He's our best horse", Applejack said walking out of the cellar.

Applejack waved as her father rode away on his horse wagon.

"Bye papa. Be careful!!".

Her father waved back.

"Take care Applejack while I'm gone!!", he said.

Applejack's dad went off the down the road.

"Hmm".

Applejack's father, Jackson, looked around. His horse looked ready to run in fright. They were in the middle of a spooky woods. It was foggy and dark.

"Maybe we missed the turn. We should have been there by now", he said to Sampson. He knew he was talking to a horse but it helped to talk to someone.

The old chubby man had a lamp in his hand.

"I guess I shoulda taken the-". He stopped talking for a moment.

There were a few wooden signs he couldn't read. So he decided to go left. Sampson tried to go the other path but Jackson moved him on the path he wanted. If he were human Sampson might have hit him and argued with him but he wasn't.

Sampson knew it wasn't a smart choice but he did as his rider told him to. As they went on it got darker and foggier.

Suddenly Sampson was spooked by a few shadows.

"Woah!!".

The horse was out of control and ran full speed in the other direction. He knocked Jackson right off and ran off with the wagon. The lamp was dropped and the flame went out.

Jackson sat up. He looked around. Standing he sighed.

The man began to walk. He had no idea where he was going but he walked.

After a while of walking, he spotted a gate.

"What the??".

Lookimg up he saw a huge dark castle. A clash of lighting lit up the sky. It was quite a creepy sight.

"Maybe there's someone here", he said walking into the yard and up to the front door.

"Hello??", he called. The large castle doors opened seemingly by themselves, making his nerves rise.

Jackson peeked in. He slowly walked in.

"H-Hello??. Is anyone here??".

"Hello".

The man looked around. "Who said that??".

He spotted a candle lamp and picked it up.

"Over here".

He turned. No one there. He looked at the candle. The candle smile.

"Hello".

Jackson dropped it in fright. The lamp fell with a thud.

"Ow!!".

Jackson's eyes widened. What in the world??.
