Beauty and the Beast part 10 (A tribute to the 2 year anniversary)
Hey guys. So it is officially the two year anniversary of when I posted my first Appledash one shot, and so this is my tribute to this special occasion for you guys ;) enjoy
"I don't think I can do this."
Rainbow grunted as another bucket of warm water was dumped onto her head. She pushed the hair out of her eyes. She looked at Runsworth and Travier.
"You don't have time to be shy." Runsworth said, pointing at the wilting rose underneath the glass dome.
"You have to be bold, daring."
Rainbow was scrubbed clean by the coat rack that was in her bedroom, since it was the only living object in the castle that had long arms. Rainbow argued that she could bathe herself, but they didn't want to hear it. So there was she, sitting in her soap and water filled tub, bubbles all around her, getting scrubbed from head to toe in sweet smelling body wash.
Tonight was a very special night. They had planned it all. But, Rainbow had her doubts. If it didn't work, they'd be stuck like this forever.
She'd be a beast forever.
Rainbow stepped out of the bathtub and walked over to where she got dressed. The coatrack wrapped a towel around her and started to dry her.
"Tonight, you must tell her how you feel." Runsworth said. "If you want to ever be human again. There will be romantic music, candlelight by yours truly. Then, when the time is right, you tell her. You can do it. "
Rainbow felt a swell of courage.
"I can- no, no I can't."
She deflated, her shoulders sagging. Once she was dried, she was dressed, her hair brushed.
"You care for her, don't you??."
Rainbow looked at him.
"Of course. More than anything." She said.
She dressed in a dark blue suit with gold along the ends. It felt good on her toned frame. It hugged her in all the right places and. Her wings fit through holes in the coat and white shirt.
It took a few minutes to get dressed, but Rainbow liked the end results. Her hair was pinned up in the right side, letting it cascade over her left shoulder.
"Not bad." Rainbow commented.
She suddenly heard someone clear their throat. She turned and saw Travier standing at the doorway.
"Your lady awaits." He said with a bow, motioning to the door with one wooden arm.
Rainbow shook herself, as if she could physically shake off any nerves. She gave a nod and walked out of the room. Travier and Runsworth went with her down the hall to the staircase. When she got there, Rainbow paused. Her mouth fell open a little, her eyes widening.
Wow. Applejack.
Applejack was walking down the stairs, holding onto the rail. Words couldn't describe just how beautiful she looked to Rainbow Dash. Applejack was wearing a green and red ballgown. It revealed her shoulders. It hugged her body perfectly. It had small swirly designs on the skirt of the dress, a perfect touch. Her long hair was up in a ponytail, and then tied up multiple times going down her back.
Applejack descended the stairs and stood at the bottom. She looked up at Rainbow and smiled.
Rainbow felt a nudge. That was her cue to go down. She took a deep breath and descended the staircase. She did her best not to trip and fall. As she made her way down the short flight of steps, she prayed everything could go smoothly.
Once she got to the bottom, she could hear musical instruments playing from somewhere. She walked up to Applejack. They both smiled at one another.
Then they bowed.
Tale as old as time
They rose. Rainbow offered Applejack her arm. Applejack looped her arm around it without hesitation. They walked down the main staircase.
True as it can be
They reached the bottom, but once they did, the footstool came up to them barking happily. Applejack and Rainbow Dash smiled. They giggled and looked at each other.
Barely even friends. Then, somebody bends, unexpectedly.
They kept on to the dining room where their dinner was served. As promised, it was fantastic and candlelight lit up the large room. Music played for them as they ate.
Both used spoons to eat their soup. Rainbow tried her beast to eat as civilized as possible. For Applejack.
Just a little change. Small to say the least
Applejack watched her from the other end. She smiled in adoration, happy to see Rainbow so calm and she looked amazing in that suit.
Applejack put down her spoon. The music made her want to dance. This could be her chance to get Rainbow to dance.
Applejack pushed her chair back. She stood up and eagerly walked over to Rainbow. She took her hands and pulled her up and out of her seat.
"Let's dance." She said to Rainbow.
Rainbow hesitantly got up and let her lead out of the room to the ballroom.
Both a little scared. Neither one prepared. Beauty and the beast.
They walked to the middle of the room and turned to one another. Rainbow gently placed a clawed hand on Applejack's waist. She tried not to bite her lip nervously. Applejack took her other hand in her.
Ever just the same.
Applejack looked at with a smile. She gently took a step, surprising Rainbow Dash a little.
Ever a surprise.
They fell into step to the music. The two began to dance slowly. Rainbow became at ease, becoming more confident in herself.
Ever as before. Ever just as sure, as the sun will rise.
Rainbow Dash took Applejack's hand in a firmer grasp and sped up.
Take as old as time. Tune as old as song.
Rainbow spun Applejack out, holding on to her hand.
Bittersweet and strange. Finding you can change.
Rainbow spun Applejack to the other side and then spun her in.
Learning you were wrong.
Rainbow and Applejack spun and and continued to dance around the room in each other's arms, giggling and smiling the time.
Applejack looked into Rainbow's eyes, a look in her green irises that Rainbow couldn't understand. She herself had butterflies in her stomach stomach just looking into those eyes. She could dance all night.
Certain as the sun, rising in the east. Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme. Beauty and the Beast.
The lights dimmed in the room. Mrs.Pots, Runsworth, and Travier were standing by the wall, watching the whole thing, smiling. Mrs.Pots was singing.
Rainbow began to slowly spin Applejack.
Tale as old as time. Song as old as rhyme.
Rainbow spun her in, holding her by the waist. The two looked at each other, smiling.
Beauty and the Beast.
Rainbow and Applejack turned to each other.
"Let's go out to the balcony." Rainbow suggested.
Applejack gave a curt nod. They walked side by side out to the balcony. It was a beautiful spring night. The air was cool, but not cold. The stats sprinkled across the deep blue sky.
Rainbow and Applejack walked over to a long, stone bench. Rainbow sat Applejack down before sitting herself down beside the human girl.
It was silent. Rainbow and Applejack had no idea what to say after all that that happened. Rainbow looked up at Applejack.
She found the words to say.
"Applejack??." She said, making said girl look at her.
Rainbow reached out and took her hand, scooting closer.
"Are you happy here with me??."
Rainbow hoped she was. That was make her happy to know Applejack was happy.
Applejack smiled gently.
"Yes."
Then her smile disappeared. A saddened expression fell over her face. Rainbow immediately noticed.
"What's wrong??." She asked gently.
Applejack looked over her shoulder into the distance. She then looked at Rainbow.
"If only an could mah dad again. I just miss him."
Rainbow's heart sank. That was her fault. She felt awful and selfish. If there only there was-
"You can." She said, perking up.
Applejack's eyes widened a little.
"Really??."
Rainbow looked around. She spotted exactly what she was looking for. Hm. Talk about convenience. Rainbow picked up a mirror. The mirror that the enchantress had given her as an only window to the rest of the world when she was cursed. The enchanted mirror sparkles with magic as she held it up.
"Here." She said. "It's magical. You can ask it to show you whatever you want. Just ask."
Rainbow handed the precious item over to Applejack. Applejack looked into the handheld mirror.
"Ah'd like ta see mah father, please." She requested.
The glass changed from her reflection to an image of her father. Applejack gasped in horror. She saw her father on the ground somewhere in what looked like the woods, unconscious.
"Oh no." She breathed.
"What is it??." Rainbow asked.
Applejack glanced up at her.
"He didn't make it home. He's in trouble."
Rainbow saw the panic and worry in her eyes. Her father was in danger. Rainbow knew Applejack cared deeply for her father. She had, after all, taken his place as Rainbow's eternal prisoner in the castle.
Rainbow couldn't just keep her here while the man could die out there. Rainbow wouldn't be able to live with herself.
She the made a decision she never thought she would.
"Go to him."
Applejack looked at her, surprised at her words.
"What??."
Rainbow gave her a firm nod of her head.
"Go to him." She repeated. "You're no longer my prisoner. Now, go help your father."
Applejack couldn't believe what she was hearing. Was Rainbow really releasing her? She smiled. She reached over and wrapped her arms around Rainbow Dash. Rainbow froze.
"Thank you." Applejack said.
Rainbow hugged back. For all she knew this would be the last time she'd ever get to touch Applejack again. They let each other go.
"Keep the mirror." Rainbow told Applejack with a small smile. "So you can look back and so you won't forget me and others."
Applejack nodded solemnly.
"Ah promise ah won't forget you, Rainbow."
Applejack squeezed one of Rainbow's hands, taking in one long look at the beastly girl in front of her. She then got up and ran inside. Once she was out of sight, Rainbow sighed, bowing her head.
Applejack was leaving her and she'd most likely never come back. Words couldn't describe the sorrow and loneliness that swelled inside of her once more.
"Mistress??."
Rainbow slowly lifted her head and looked at the doorway. She saw Runsworth standing there.
"Where is Applejack going??." He asked, a confused expression on his face.
Rainbow sighed in despair.
"I let her go." She said.
Runsworth's eyes widened.
"What?? Why??."
Rainbow looked out at the distance. Saw Applejack running out of the castle doors. She ran over to her horse Phillipe, who was grazing near the stables. Rainbow watched with a heavy heart as Applejack climbed on and she rode through the front gates and away from the castle.
Rainbow turned her head to see Travier, Runsworth, and Mrs.Pots there, looking at her with looks of shock.
"Why did you let her leave??." Travier asked.
Rainbow looked down at the floor, then back up at her servants.
"Because I love her."
The three servants stood there for a moment. There goes there one and possibly only chance at ever breaking the spell. Slowly they made their way back inside.
Rainbow turned back and watched Applejack disappear into the night, taking Rainbow's heart with her.
So yeah. That was my tribute to the two year anniversary of my appledash stories. I can't believe two years has gone by. It felt like yesterday I was sitting on my parents' bed in our vacation house, contemplating on whether or not I should post that first one shot. It was supposed to be only one. Just one and that was it.
I didn't expect it to grow to two and then three, then four. Next thing I knew I was updating everyday. Then my first actual Appledash fanfiction was completed. Now look where I am. I honestly wouldn't be here if it weren't for you guys. You all kept requesting more and more and so I wrote more. You encourage me to keep writing and I am so lucky to have you guys as my followers and my friends. Some of you guys were there since the beginning and are still here, reading and commenting and still enjoying my stories.
And I find it funny how my religious and kinda homophobic parents still don't know I have this account XD. Two years of hiding all this from them and they think I don't do anything and that I'm lazy and do nothing productive. Idk about you guys, but I think this is pretty productive lol. Well, as I was saying, it's been a great two years. And I'm proud to have presented you guys with this chapter. I'm in Puerto Rico (the same place I wrote my very first Appledash one shot) and I'm in an area that doesn't have good wifi, so if I don't write a one shot today, this will be all I can give for today until tomorrow :)
So comment what you thought of this and your thoughts in general and I'll try to update as soon as possible :)
As always, I'll see you guys in the next update :)
