Matt - Alternate Ending
Music was good. Music was the only thing that kept him sane. It was the only thing keeping him from thinking too much.
He jumped up, pulling his knees towards his chest. He cracked his neck and his knuckles.
" Don't hurt yourself too much." Haley grinned, arms crossed. She was leaning against the wall, looking as radiant as ever.
" Ha Ha Ha." He mocked and dial the music up another notch. Than went to work on the punching bag.
Haley winched, " Ouch."
After getting in a few more punches, he pulled off his gloves and dropped to the ground. He rolled to his back.
" Told you not to hurt yourself too much." Haley joined him.
" Shut up." He threw a hand around his eyes.
He peeked through his hand , " Have you spoken to Jupiter lately?"
Jupiter was a sensitive topic between them and although the events of what happen was six months behind them, talking about it hurt a lot and Haley was still very hesitant to visit his family.
" No. I haven't seen him. He sent me a gift last month and a letter explaining he bought the bracelet months ahead and he didn't feel like returning it." She bit her lip. Haley had moved on and was currently dating a guy named Jake.
And so had he. He was seeing someone too. Odd how things worked out. A tiny part of him knew that Haley would always hold a place in his heart, but things were different now.
" Hey, thanks for visiting me. I really needed to see you." He bumped his shoulder against hers. He missed this, he missed seeing her everyday. They were growing up, and in three years. They were going to be real adults.
" I missed you too. Thanks for reaching out. I really thought you were going to hate me forever." She laughed.
" Yeah well Karly told me it was good to forgive people."
" She's really good for you. Don't let that one get away."
He smiled, you will always be the one who got away. Even when we're forty and married, I will always tell people you were my first love, the stories of a beautiful girl with with raven hair and shining eyes.
" I know Haley. I know. And you, don't let Jake get away. He seems like a really good dude."
" I don't intend to." She smiled back.
