She was wrong. Matt wasn't the meteor destined to crash. They were. Matt, Mindy, and others were just casualties in their reign of destruction.

Jupiter looked at her, " I shouldn't have done that."

" I shouldn't have kissed you back." She swallowed the lump in her throat.

" We need to fix this. I'll talk to Matt." He said after several awkward minutes.

" He'll kill you. We both know the extent of anger." As nice as Matt is. Piss him off and you'll get a completely different side of him. Not to mention the years of training from several martial arts dojos.

" I wouldn't blame him," he smiled sadly, " After all, I went after the one person he really ever truly cared about."

As if she couldn't feel any more guilty.
" No, I should talk to him. This is all my fault. I strung him along for weeks. He deserves to break my face."

" Haley. It's fine. Go home, get some rest."

" I real-"

Jupiter cut her off, " Haley please."

Then she saw it. She was so consumed with her own guilt she didn't see it. Jupiter was devastated. His hands were shaking.

The walk downstairs was horribly terrifying. She knew Mr. and Mrs. Pluto had heard the entire thing, stupid thin walls.

" Jupiter?" Mrs. Pluto asked softly, but he ignored her and slammed the front door in response.

" Haley." She smiled in a way only a mother could do.

" You've always been a good girl," always been too quiet though right?

" And I know you would never do anything to hurt my sons. And I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I think it would be best at least for right now if you stop coming here."

In all the years that she has come through that door, stranger, friend, Jupiter's girlfriend.

She nodded, her whole world was burning down and all she could do was offer a cold nod.
