Haley
It's funny her name was Haley, named after one of the most famous comets and Jupiter was named after a planet. They were cosmic bodies destined to meet.
But Matt. Matt was a meteor destined to crash, it was just a matter of time when. It was their senior year of high school and crashed he did.
He was a mess. Every night he found a party, didn't even matter whose. He went. And when the high school parties weren't enough to satisfy him. He started partying at the local college. Which was bad for two reasons, one which was obvious, college parties. Secondly, guess who had to save him from said college party. That's right Haley had to.
Haley held her tongue as she passed through yet another crowd of people. She even recognized some people. Felix, resident unofficial bodyguard greeted her.
" Haley funny seeing you here." He chucked, a flash of gold as he smiled.
" Hi Felix. I'm back for my weekly pickup of soda and an emotionally frustrated teenager."
Felix was a big guy, standing at 6'4 he was definitely intimidating especially compared to her 5'7 built. But he wasn't a mean guy. Although the fact he sat outside with a scowl and an unlit cigarette in his mouth may say otherwise. He was always nice to her. It was because he reminded him of his younger sister he told her one night after Matt had passed out from exhaustion on Felix's shoulders.
But she wasn't in the mood today. Jupiter had just returned back to college from his spring break and before he left he revealed some things.
" I stocked the fridge for that disgusting raspberry soda you love so much." He hollered after her. " Also he's on the fourth door to the right."
She smiled slightly, " Thanks, Felix."
After a quick detour for her glorious fizzy drink, she began the short search for Matt.
" Haley." One of the frat boys greeted her.
" Phil." She replied curtly.
" You still with that scum you called a boyfriend. How about you stay this time huh? You know we would be good together."
She forced a smile. If only they knew. She felt dizzy and her mouth went dry. She struggled to find her words. She was such an extroverted child what happened.
Phil's mask dropped and a look of concern took over. " Whoa, you don't look some good. Let me help you." He guided her by the elbows and brought her into a smaller, quieter room.
" Hey, when I asked you about your boyfriend I was joking. You know that right?" He chuckled nervously.
Haley nodded softly. " I'm sorry. I'm just out of it today." She forced a smile, she was shaking.
" You're here for Matt, right? I'll get him for you. Just don't pass out okay?" He spoke to her like she was five and just woke up from a nightmare.
She nodded softly. When the door clicked softly behind him. She finally let her mask fall.
Her cries came out muffled as she forced a hand to her mouth. Salty and hot tears fell quickly like drizzle in spring.
The door clicked again and she looked up to meet Matt's empty eyes.
" I'm sorry about him."
