Chapter Thirteen

Alright, I am trying to update every day now, if that is possible. School got called off today, so I got to sleep in and spend some me time in my room. Now I am writing real quick, checking up on all your comments as best as I can and answering what I can. I have gotten several requests throughout the week. I have considered them all, intriguing all of them. Reading all these stories is great, too, you guys are all amazingly talented and very few of you need corrected. Now, on with the chapter, my lovely readers!

Chapter Thirteen: Who Told?!

Point of View: Third Person

The Hunters of the Sun enjoy themselves on the beach, roughhousing each other and laughing all the while.

A little girl runs up and tugs on Zianthos's sleeve, causing him to get knocked onto his back by Senna on the sand when he turns his attention to her. Zianthos shoves him off and kneels in front of the little girl, coming to her level. He smiles warmly and it brightens the expressions of his brothers.

"Hello, is there something you need?" Zianthos asks her, a daughter of Apollo.

"Will you come help Demetri? He got his leg stuck climbing a tree in the woods. I can't reach the branch to help him and everyone else is busy." She gives him this serious look.

Zianthos nods. "Alright, Diana, let's go get your brother out of the tree."

The little girl, Diana, grabs onto his arm after he starts walking, her little arms going around it as she stays close at his side. "Thank you."

"My pleasure, little one." Zianthos smiles, his brothers staying on the beach to continue enjoying themselves. "Where is he stuck at?"

"Clear up in the tree." She pouts. "I couldn't see him, but he said he was hanging upside down."

"Oh my." Zianthos chuckles.

After walking for a few minutes, Diana points up at a tree. "That one, there. Demetri! I got daddy's Lieutenant!"

"Diana, I can't feel my foot!" Demetri whines.

Zianthos chuckles again. "I am coming, little lord." He hops onto the first branch and then climbs up into the highest part of the tree. "Hello, Demetri. You did get your foot stuck." Zianthos whistles low.

"I don't know how." Demetri complains.

"Probably because you stepped on this knot here and your foot got shoved down between it and the trunk, too big to get back out without the same force." Zianthos reaches and gets Demetri back up and onto the tree branch, Demetri whimpering at his ankle. "Oh dear, your ankle is going to be sore for a long while. It got twisted. You didn't feel it because it happened so fast."

"It really hurts." Demetri says, tears welling in his eyes.

"Hold still, I am sorry if this hurts more." Zianthos apologizes in advance. "Ready?" Demetri nods. "One, two, three." Zianthos pulls and Demetri's foot comes out, Demetri wincing. Zianthos takes a closer look at Demetri's ankle, lightly touching it. "You sprained it very badly. Nothing a little nectar and ambrosia can't fix. I still want you off of it for a little while, okay?"

Demetri nods again. "Thank you."

"Alright," Zianthos grunts as he puts Demetri on his back, climbing down the tree. He lands with a thud on the ground, but lands perfectly balanced on his feet. "There, down from the tree. Be safer next time, little lord."

"Yay!" Diana exclaims. "You got him! Thanks, Zi Zi!"

Zianthos chuckles. "You're welcome, little lady. Come on, lets go get your brother to the infirmary."

"Okay!" Diana grabs onto Demetri's hand as Zianthos carries the boy on his back.

"How come you look exactly like that guy in the pictures, Zianthos?" Demetri asks, halfway to the edge of the woods.

"I'll let you in on a little secret, little lord." Zianthos says quietly.

"Can I know?" Diana asks excitedly.

"Of course, you are Lord Apollo's child." Zianthos smiles kindly. "I used to be that boy you see in those photos in the Big House. Now, I am a different person. I left that life behind to serve your father and to heal from the damage that had been done to me."

"Oh, how did you get hurt?" Diana frowns.

"It is long since past, child. You do not need to know such things until you are older. Maybe then you can ask me." Zianthos tells her.

Unknowingly, which is rare for Zianthos, Annabeth lurks in the woods and has overheard the confession.

"Promise not to tell?" Zianthos questions.

"Yea! Promise!" Diana giggles.

"I won't tell." Demetri promises.

Annabeth takes off for the Big House.

Zianthos stops when he hears the leaves rustle. "Odd." He murmurs as he looks around them. "I do not sense anyone nearby but those in the camp. Must be my imagination." He starts walking again and gets halfway to the infirmary, next to the canoe lake, when he, Demetri, and Diana get cornered, their backs to the lake.

"You're a liar!" Jason comes up and shoves Zianthos, making Demetri wince at the movement of his ankle.

"Back off, Grace." Zianthos growls.

"Why did you lie about being Percy?!" Annabeth demands.

"I did not lie! I am not Perseus Jackson!" Zianthos yells above all the accusations.

His brothers come running, stopping to try and hear what all the fuss is about from a distance away.

"That's a lie! I just heard you tell those two!" Annabeth shouts.

Several of the older campers come up and start pressing forward, causing Zianthos to back away to keep Demetri's ankle from getting caught in it. But Diana gets pushed into the lake off the pier as they are backed onto it.

"My lady!" Zianthos frets and uses his powers to bring her back up behind him. He looks ahead with a glare as his brothers force their way through the crowd slowly. "Get back!" Zianthos growls and the campers in front of him, Jason and Clarisse, skitter back in fright. Zianthos turns and hops off the pier, surprising everyone when his feet turn the spot he stands on into ice. He makes a path to the other side of the lake. "Come on, little lady."

Diana takes Zianthos's proffered hand and smiles as she becomes dry. He helps her across the ice and he heads into the infirmary, taking care of Demetri's ankle himself as Diana sits next to her brother.

"Sorry they found out cause you told us, Zi Zi." Diana tells him.

"It is alright, Diana, they would have found out eventually." Zianthos says as he tapes the ankle after putting something on it to reduce the swelling.

"But that is so cool. You're the best hero ever, the greatest and strongest one to ever live. And now you're immortal and cool!" Demetri looks cheery.

Zianthos wears a  kindred smile. "Yes, it was a very long time ago. I gave up being a hero to serve your father."

"How come?" Diana watches as he wraps her brother's ankle.

"Oh," Zianthos breathes out. "I was tired of a lot of things, mainly fighting. Now I fight for different things and I enjoy the life your father has given me. I got hurt and decided leaving was the best thing for me. I never really wanted to live forever, but this existence is the best thing to ever happen to me. I got to meet you." Zianthos smiles as he pokes Diana's stomach, making the little five year old giggle. "I couldn't ask for anything better."

"They said you were offered godhood, twice. Is it true?" Demetri looks enthralled in the story.

"Yes, it is true." Zianthos chuckles. "I turned it down both times, child."

"Why? Wouldn't it be cool?" Demetri replies.

"I did it for love." Zianthos admits and rises after setting Demetri's foot on the floor gently.

Demetri frowns as Diana looks up at her new hero other than her daddy. "Wait, but you swore off love to join my dad's Hunt, right?"

"Indeed I did, little lord." Zianthos nods as he brings over nectar and ambrosia.

Demetri takes it as he asks his next question. "Then why'd you join? You joined like a couple months after the celebrations right?"

"Yes." Zianthos sits down on another bed across from Demetri. "I guess the older campers don't tell you anything. That Athenian woman, Annabeth Chase, I loved her a very long time ago."

Demetri's jaw drops. "Seriously? Ms. Chase? You loved her? What happened? Were you together?"

Zianthos sighs and Diana sits in her brother's lap. "Yes, I loved her and, for a time, she returned the feelings. We were together and we were happy. Both completely taken with one another."

"So, what happened?" Demetri asks.

"It fell apart." Zianthos shrugs. "I caught her in the woods with that son of Hephaestus, Leo Valdez."

"Caught them?" Demetri asks, confused.

Zianthos clears his throat. "Birds and bees, little lord."

Demetri blushes madly. "No way!"

"Yes," Zianthos glances at Diana, who doesn't understand. "I caught them red handed and they saw me. I got my heart broken and that is the pain that drove me to my brothers. I almost died in the Poseidon cabin a few days after I saw them. I was having a heart attack from drowning in everything from the wars and losing the one person I loved with everything I had. The very same person I fell into Tartarus for. Once my father left and I woke up again, your father offered me a place in his Hunt. I accepted and I found my place in the world."

"Oh man, that really sucks. Ms. Chase really did that to you? I can't believe it." Demetri shakes his head.

"I was your age when I stumbled into this place, back when it was just the Greek encampment." Zianthos changes the subject before Diana gets too curious. "Twelve years old." Zianthos chuckles. "I am far older now, over twelve thousand."

"Wow, you must know a lot!" Diana laughs and crawls onto the bed Zianthos sits on, deciding that she doesn't like Annabeth from listening to Zianthos and Demetri.

"I know tons, milady, but I do not know the stories you have." Zianthos smiles and Diana grins. "Let's get you two back to your siblings." Zianthos helps Demetri limp along to the Apollo cabin. Diana runs ahead and gets he door open. "Thank you, little lady." Zianthos sets Demetri down and turns to Diana. "You're in charge. Make sure your brother is okay. Can you handle it?" He smiles warmly at her.

Diana hops up and down. "Yea!" She hugs him before sitting next to her brother and chattering with him adamantly.

Zianthos leaves and goes to find his brothers, who are being bombarded with millions of questions at once and trying not to hurt the campers.
