Okay, this is not going to take priority over my other two stories I haven't finished, but you guys want more of my stories, which are all still basically in draft mode right now. But here is this one. Tell me what you think about it and I will gladly review your comments. Enjoy, my lovely readers!
Chapter One: Discovering the Truth
Point of View: Zianthos
There's something that not many know about Lord Apollo. Why am I calling him 'Lord'? Because he's my lord, master, whatever you want to call it. Even Lady Artemis doesn't know this detail about her little brother. Well, she knows the basics of it, but doesn't realize what he has.
But, before I tell you about this little secret, I'm going to explain how I became a part of it and honored to know how to live amongst my lord's daily life and his excellent ideas. Right, here we go.
Flashback
I walk along the beach waiting for my girlfriend to show up for our date, nothing. I try her cabin, mine, all of them, the pavilion, arena, Big House, nothing. Finally, I walk into the woods dejected and hear the sounds of...well, not the best sounds in the world to hear. But, I went looking anyway because I'd recognize the one voice anywhere, my girlfriend...with another guy, mating so to speak.
My foot hits a rock and it clatters into the cave they are hiding out in. They both look up at me and her eyes widen.
"Stop! I can explain!" She yells.
"There's no need. I can see perfectly fine." I snap. "We're over. Have a nice life." I turn my back on her and walk away.
Flashback end
Not only did my girlfriend betray the love I felt, the loyalty I bestowed upon her, and the life I was given by her and the one I had given to her, she broke something in me and that is why I joined Lord Apollo when receiving his generous offer.
The others at camp didn't know she and a son of Hephaestus were sneaking off together. But, they all know what something like that would do to a person like me. The only thing I lost was her, but that means I lost everything. The others are still dead to me in some shape or form, but they are too close to her for me to ever get near them again or at least, too often.
My heart broke, my soul shattered, my purpose was destroyed, and the meaning of life for me was obliterated. I didn't dare give up Elpis for who I had given it to and the promise I made her. But I was suffering, wallowing in my depressive and agonizing state of loss. Nothing and no one was helping at all, though they tried their best. But I couldn't bring myself to listen all that much. I regressed from them all and they don't blame me, but her they do blame.
Now, back to what Lord Apollo's offer was. He offered me a place within the Hunters of Apollo, only a few are in it, including me. Artemis and Apollo both wanted that kind of group, both wanted to be virtuous forever, and both wanted freedom. But Artemis came out first and Apollo didn't want his sister to have to deal with everything, so he took the pressure for her.
But there is another thing only we Hunters of Apollo know about our lord, he still retains his virtue. He is much like Athena in aspect for having his children, but even they do not know. He's kept Lady Artemis in the dark. We respect his lordship's wishes and stay out of sight to the best of our ability, keep his secrets, and help ease his burdens. Safely deliver his precious children to the camp, acting as demigods. Saying we do not enter camp and asking them not to mention us because their father requests it humbly and will see them very soon. They never talk about us again and are none the wiser of who we really are.
Long ago, I was brought into the ranks of this amazing group. A very long time ago. It was 12,000 years ago and now I am the Lieutenant of the Hunters of Apollo.
All of us hold our virtue, have had our hearts broken, and have sworn off the company of women forever. Out of sight, out of mind. This is what we are to everyone but those who are aware of us. We conceal ourselves from Lady Artemis's domain of the Hunt and keep away from her Huntresses.
Out of my fourteen brethren, my heart was broken the most and I stray from the path of love far more than any. They respect my wishes and do not mention anything. I am the youngest at 12,018. The oldest is around 150 years younger than Apollo himself. I was frozen forever at 18 and the others are from 15-19. Those who are older don't turn to these types of ways or weren't aware. We don't accumulate our numbers that often. I am the most recent recruit and that was too long ago, in a time of dark memories and events I do not prefer to dwell on.
When you become part of our group, your name changes and unlike the Huntresses, you become fully immortal and attain one power. However, I was given three.
I am Zianthos.
But once, long ago, I was a hero...and my name...was Perseus Jackson.
