Meeting Batman and Apollo

Batman Begins

"You have got to be kidding." Evelyn barely managed to let out before being tossed like a rag doll into the wall. She felt her shoulder shift in her socket, a scream slipping past her lips. Everything went dark for a few seconds from the pain, when Evelyn managed to open her eyes, everything was up in flames, and spreading, fast.

Slowly pushing herself onto her hands and knees, Evelyn cradled her arm to her chest. It was sending shock waves of pain through her body and Evelyn was struggling to see through the smoke and flames in the house. She needed to get out and find Bruce. She wasn't selfish enough to leave the man in here, not when he had been saving so many others. This is the least she owed the bat vigilante.

"Bruce?" A cough erupted from Evelyn's throat, sending spikes of pain rolling through her body. "Fuck me." She whispered.

Crawling towards where she was standing originally, Evelyn saw the shiny black shoes of a body.

"Please, please, please be alive. I cannot handle seeing a dead body right now." Evelyn moved closer to the upper half of the body. A support beam, burnt on the ends, trapped Bruce under its weight. His eyes were closed but his chest did move albeit slowly.

"Okay, just move the extremely heavy support beam off the superhero bat-man with a potentially dislocated shoulder." Evelyn enthusiastically said shrugging her good shoulder. She wiped her face of sweat and grime before setting to pushing the beam of off Bruce.

A low grunt left Evelyn's dry lips, the beam was a lot heavier than it looked. Looking around for something to use to leverage the beam off Bruce, Evelyn silently cursed whoever was listening. She refused to die in a fire with playboy Bruce Wayne, the reporters would have a field day. She also had just managed to find out his alter ego and she refused to die so soon after.

"Master Bruce! Master Bruce!" A voice echoed down the hall, then the sound of a door being shoved open.

"Here!" Evelyn screamed back. Hopefully someone might be able to help them in time. Quick steps could be heard coming towards Evelyn, as she turned to another solution.

Slapping Bruce Wayne across the face.

"Wake." Slap. "Up." Slap. "You." Slap. "Stupid." Slap. "Idiot!" The last slap sounded throughout the falling house. Evelyn heard a sharp intake of breath come from beneath her. Bruce's eyes shot open, taking in the flames, burning house, and disheveled Evelyn next to him.

At that moment, Alfred managed to find both Evelyn and Bruce, dropping to his knees to help get the beam off.

"If we all push, we might be able to roll it off." Evelyn spoke, using her good shoulder to push all her weight into getting the beam off.

Grunts and groans could be heard coming from the three people, some of pain, and some of physical exhaustion.

"You do all those pushups and can't push off a measly support beam?" Alfred taunted Bruce, a look of determination settling upon the younger man's face. With a deep breath in, Bruce managed to push off the beam with Evelyn and Alfred's help.

"Where is the nearest exit?" Evelyn questioned, helping Bruce up with Alfred on the other side.

"All the doors are locked."

"The door I came through is now a tunnel of flames."

"Window?" Evelyn suggested. Both men sent a weird look towards the woman. "Of course, because the idea of jumping through a window is so bizarre compared to a man dressed as a big bat taking down Gotham's most evil." Evelyn said flatly. She was tired, in pain, and pissed at getting her dressed ruined. She could buy another sure but what a waste of her money.

Both men looked towards each other, Bruce wincing as red liquid started seeping through his clothes.

"I hate to say it, but we either find some safe place, or you bleed all over your expensive floor." Evelyn remarked, shifting herself under Bruce's arm. Her own shoulder screamed in protest at the heavy arm weighing on it but Evelyn focused on Bruce. The minute she stopped, Evelyn feared she would start sobbing at the pain.

"The library, we have somewhere safe to go." Evelyn nodded in response to Bruce, following Alfred's instructions on how to get to the library.

"I hope you know that you are buying me dinner." Bruce sent a confused look towards the women to his left.

"You seriously can't expect to get me held hostage, injured, burnt, and ruin my nice dress and not take me out to dinner. It's called being a gentleman." Bruce stared ahead for a moment before letting a smile crack through his tough facade

"It's a deal, Evelyn Rosier."

Alfred lead Bruce and Evelyn into a slightly less burnt down room. Which was weird, considering the room consisted of mostly paper. Evelyn hoped it would continue to stay this way until they managed to get someplace safe. The last thing they needed was a flash fire.

Playing a quick few out of order notes on the grand piano, the bookshelf slide back and then over, like in the movies. A cold gust of wind met Evelyn's body as she tugged Bruce through the doorway behind Alfred. All three got situated in the grate elevator before Alfred pulled the chain, the elevator descending down, down, and even further down.

"You need to get your side checked out. There could be some serious damage." Bruce shook his head no at Evelyn's words.

"I need to stop Crane and Ra's before Gotham gets torn to shreds. If I don't, there might not be a Gotham left." Evelyn stayed silent for a moment, knowing the truth in his words.

"Fine, but at least let Alfred or myself wrap it before you go. You also need to explain what the fuck is going on after you save the city. And how I can help." Bruce sent a wide eyed look towards Evelyn, he opened his mouth to speak but the elevator finally reached the bottom.

Shoving Bruce out, Evelyn quickly gave the man off to Alfred. She sped towards the giant computer screens blinking for a password.

"You might be smart Bruce, but I started a tech company from the ground up. Work on your security." Evelyn muttered, her fingers quickly gliding over the keyboard, hacking into the system.

"You can't—what are you—stop!" Bruce fumbled over his words as Alfred tried to fix him up as best he could.

"Helping you, duh." Evelyn spoke like she did with little children, overly nice and little words to help their mind comprehend. With a few more key strokes, Evelyn was in the system of not only Batman, but also the GCPD. All camera feed available was now displayed on the numerous spilt screens.

"I'll help from here, give you any information to help save Gotham. Alfred will watch me, make sure I stay out of anything private. I expect an explanation after you save the city." Evelyn spoke, her eyes still set upon the screens and her fingers flying over the key board.

"Only if you give me one." Bruce bit back, his suit being put on with the help of Alfred.

"Deal. Go save the world Gloomy." Evelyn spoke, watching Bruce, dressed up as Batman, getting into his vehicle.

Evelyn would never admit it but Bruce was incredibly hot in the bat suit. Not only did it showcase all his muscles but it left little to the imagination of what lies underneath.

Evelyn quickly shook her head to rid herself of her thoughts. She just met the man and she was already thinking about what lie beneath the suit.

Bruce sent Evelyn a quick nod, before speeding out of the cold cave.

"Well, this'll be fun."

———

The fight was over, Bruce won. Crane was defeated, the city saved, and Ra's dead. Hopefully.

Now all that's left is the promised information exchange from Bruce and Evelyn. Which would be happening as Bruce gets fixed up by a very wise British butler.

Evelyn and Alfred had shared a few words as Bruce rode back home from saving the city. Apart Alfred had been working for Bruce since he was a young boy as Alfred worked under Bruce's father, Thomas Wayne. Evelyn remembered her own parents talking about Thomas and Martha, how good the two were for wanting to better Gotham. Until they both got killed in a dreary alley way with a young Bruce witnessing it all. Evelyn could understand why Bruce donned the cowl, she knew it was to stop other young child from having to see their parents die in front of them.

"So Batman, you went on a seven year hiatus to find yourself after deciding Gotham needed a hero to save itself from the evil in its belly. Found Ra's Al Ghul, joined his little club, found out that the club wasn't all that great, decided to end the club by taking out the big bad, came back to Gotham as a bat intent to save the city, almost destroyed the city, saved it, thanks to yours truly and your awesome butler, and now plan to continue improving this city via superhero work. Does that cover it?"

"That's a mild way to put it, but yes." Bruce nodded his head after thinking over everything Evelyn said. Evelyn sent a thoughtful look towards the computers before beginning her story.

"I lived in Metropolis before deciding to move to Gotham about five years ago. I started up Rosier Technology and wanted to help this city through high society. I thought that maybe there would be some answer if I looked hard enough. I was about to give up when you came back."

It was like the answer I was waiting for. I hacked into Wayne Enterprise and found all the advanced technological equipment you guys have been working on for the past couple years. After discovering that, Batman made an appearance. I thought it strange that Batman just so happened to show up a week after Bruce Wayne. Not to mention, Batman used the same technology that Wayne Enterprise had blueprints of."

It made the most logical sense that you're the Batman and came back to stop the criminals of the city. I just needed some more reassurance that you were in fact the hero playing bat. I came to your party to do some investigation work but then the whole kidnapping thing happened. You know the rest." Bruce was silent for a while. The only noise was the sound of a needle piercing flesh and stitching it back together. Evelyn cringed as blood continued to gush from the wound as Alfred slowly pulled the skin together.

"You're Apollo?" Evelyn tensed in her seat in front of the computers.

"I—yes." Apollo was her own alter ego, as Batman was Bruce's. She knew she couldn't help fight the evil in Gotham off physically so she did what she does best. Use technology to get what she wants and exploit the underbelly of Gotham.

"You're the individual responsible for sending vital criminal information to the police?"

"I already said yes." Bruce sent a flat look towards Evelyn. Evelyn sent a look back before crossing her arms over her chest.

"So, can I help?" Bruce sent a bewildered look towards the woman. "I'll still be Apollo, of course, but I can sent my information direct to you and you can handle the criminals." Evelyn says simply.

"Why not the GCPD?" Evelyn sent an annoyed look towards Bruce.

"You know as well as I do about the corruption in Gotham law enforcement. For every good cop, there is at least three bad ones. I would like to know my intel is going to someone who will do something to help the city." Bruce sent a nod towards Evelyn.

"If you do help, you would stay in the cave?"

"Well, I know basic self defense and was on the swim team throughout high school. If you need a strong swimmer or need to practice your punch, let me know. Otherwise, I am perfectly fine sitting at the computer." Alfred finished off the stitching, and started to wrap the injuries.

"I know it might be difficult Bruce, but I do truly want to help you and this city. It isn't just your home anymore, it's mine too." Bruce and Alfred shared a quick look before turning towards Evelyn.

"You understand the danger of doing this?"

"Im not the one physically fighting people." Evelyn simply response. Bruce let out a smile at her witty comment.

"Okay, I'm assuming you know you can't tell anyone?"

"Yep. Not like I enjoy talking to Gotham's high society anyways. Plus, this way you don't have to kill me for knowing your secret." Bruce sent Evelyn an unimpressed look. Evelyn just sent an innocent smile back before turning towards the computers.

"You will have your hands full with that one, Master Bruce." Alfred says while handing Bruce a clean shirt.

"You're telling me."
