JLA Party

It had been fifteen years since the Justice League was formed and protected the planet from all kinds of evil. There was the Injustice League, the Light, aliens, and whatever else people thought impossible being possible.

To help celebrate the good the heroes have been doing, Clark had the bright idea to throw a party. All heroes, retired and protégés invited to celebrate their work now, years before, and years after.

Evelyn, loving the idea of the heroes being all together and celebrating their victories, decided to force all her family to go. She even managed to convince Jason to attend. She hoped this party could better the relationship of Jason to the rest of the family. It was on the mend but there was still a lot of tension at Jason's anti hero behavior.

The others had a hard time accepting Jason back as he strayed from Bruce's one rule:

No killing.

Jason had no problem killing others and while Evelyn wasn't a huge fan of killing she knew why Jason did it. He confided in her one night about why he killed, it was to make sure what happened to him would never happen to anyone else. Evelyn still didn't approve of him killing others but she understood why he did it and still loved him. She could never hate her son.

So, Evelyn brought everyone with her to the watchtower party to celebrate and hopefully further mend her families relationship. She would provide the family opportunities to see Jason and talk to him but she tried to not force their relationship back to what it once was. She wanted them to do it themselves and grow within that process.

"Eve! Come meet the team!" Dick yelled out. At some time in time everyone's identities were revealed. Evelyn still wasn't sure if someone spoiled it or the bat family gave it up themselves. Either way, Evelyn was happy to not have to wear her mask on the watchtower or in mt. Justice anymore. She did miss the suit though.

Evelyn smiled and followed her kids to the Young Justice team. She had yet to meet a lot of the new members but she knew the original protégés took over leading the new ones. Evelyn thought their dedication to the team was incredibly sweet and wholesome. Plus Dick communicates a hell of a lot better than Bruce ever did.

"Hello." Evelyn waves as a smile graces her lips. Dick stood next to her while the others were intermixed with the team, each having their own friends within the group.

"Evelyn! It's so good to see you again!" M'gann cheerily said as she flew up to hug Evelyn. Evelyn was shocked at M'gann gesture but returned it nonetheless. Evelyn never really got the chance to see the team again after supervising them that one time.

"Hello Miss Rosier. How are you doing?" Kaldur asked. He was a few feet from her and standing next to a green boy with side burns. That must be Garfield, as known as Beast Boy. Tim was talking to Evelyn once about him and his animal shifting abilities.

"Well, enjoying the party. How about you?" Kaldur sent a nod in agreement and turned back to Garfield, the two clearly discussing something.

"Good to see you Evelyn. We need you to come by and teach us how to make those chocolate chip cookies again. They don't taste the same as yours whenever we make them." Evelyn sent a confused look to Artemis.

"Gray knows how to make them. So does Tim, Steph and Babs. Cassandra probably knows how to make them too at this point. They've never made them with you?" Artemis raised surprised eyes before looking to Dick expectingly.

Dick rubbed the back of his head as he left out a nervous chuckle. "We uh, we won't make cookies if you aren't with us." Dick said to Evelyn as he gestured to the others. Evelyn sent a kind smile and placed her hand on his shoulder before giving it a squeeze.

"I'll just have to stop by sometime then. We can all make the cookies together." Dick sent a bright smile before moving away to talk to an approaching Jason.

Evelyn watched with appreciation as Dick and Jason civilly conversed with the other. Evelyn was happy to see her two oldest get along even with their differences. She just hoped Bruce and Jason managed to heal their relationship too.

"Hey." A voice sounded from her right and Evelyn turned to see an older Superboy. He was taller and filled his form more but still looked the same from his youth.

"Hello Connor." Evelyn sent a soft smile to the boy who was filled with rage and anger when she last saw him. Now Evelyn could see the boy healing from his past and learning to let others in. Dick had been keeping Evelyn updated on Connor's change and Evelyn was proud of the boy for being willing to change, not many are.

"I uh, I wanted to thank you." Evelyn's eyebrows scrunched together in confusion, she didn't do anything as far as she could recall. "For what you said to me about the egg shell and how much pressure to apply. It helped me see that blunt force and anger wasn't always the best way to reach the solution. That sometimes the smallest things can get the same result without twice as much work."

Evelyn felt her eyes widen at Connor's words. She didn't even recall saying that to him just that he was crushing the eggs and getting the shell in the dough. She had to step in and get him to stop if she wanted to cookies to be edible.

"Well I'm glad it helped you. But you would've gotten there even without my help. You're a smart kid Connor, you've done great things and I'm sure you'll do more. Just be yourself." Evelyn sent a soft smile to the superboy before he nodded in thanks and left to go to M'gann's side.

Evelyn looked out to the heroes and noticed Bruce talking to both Clark and Diana. Well, more like standing there while Clark and Diana talk and periodically saying a few words back.

Evelyn rolled her eyes before feeling a tug on her hand. Looking down Evelyn sees Cassandra next to her. Evelyn smiles at seeing the girl before beginning to sign.

'Are you okay?' Cassandra shakes her head before signing back to Evelyn. The family had been learning to sign as a way for Cassandra to communicate, something she was never taught how to do. Evelyn felt it was necessary as Cassandra was extremely hard to read, even Bruce struggled as Cassandra was even more stoic than him. Signing helped Cassandra communicate her thoughts, feelings, wants and needs and it let the family feel closer to the young girl.

'So many people.' Evelyn nodded in understanding before looking around. She noticed the other heroes staying away from Bruce, Diana and Clark. Deciding that would be the best place to help Cassandra feel less overwhelmed by people, Evelyn gestures Cassandra to follow her.

'Let's go see Bruce. Everyone is too afraid to go near him so it's less crowded.' Cassandra nodded and together the two walked over to the three heroes.

"Hi Evelyn! Hi Cassandra! Enjoying the party?" Clark, the golden retriever type he is, beamed at the two as they walked up to the trio. Bruce shifted for the two to join his side, Cassandra in between the two adults to offer her some comfort in such a loud and overwhelming environment.

"Yes, thank you. Having a celebration party was a great idea Clark. Seeing everyone again is wonderful." Clark nodded enthusiastically.

"I'm sure! You don't get out of the cave much." Bruce sent a glare to Clark at that comment. Bruce never forces Evelyn to stay in the cave but everyone knows Bruce prefers Evelyn to stay somewhere he knows is safe. Evelyn was fine with the arrangement though as she found the watchtower to be filled with too many unknown heroes. She enjoyed meeting people but not twenty at one time, she preferred to stay whelmed as her son says.

"I know but I prefer it. Let's me keep an eye on everyone without being out there fighting crime with them. Plus I get to teach Babs everything I know since she became the Oracle. And it helps that I don't get overwhelmed with heroes asking me about Bruce and who I am. Makes life a lot easier." Clark nodded in understanding while Bruce sneakily reached over to squeeze her hand.

Evelyn sent a smile to the Batman before turning back to Clark and Diana. Together they talked about their lives and crime fighting for the rest of the night.

"Barry, who is that? That one with Batman?" Barry, the scarlet speedster, turned to follow Jay's eye sight. His mouth formed an 'O' as he realized who Jay was referring to.

"That's Evelyn or Apollo but a lot of us heroes call her bat mom. She's in a relationship with Bruce and they share custody of the kids. Although if you ask me, the kids would pick Evelyn over Bruce any day." Jay nodded in understanding as Barry watched Evelyn place a loving hand on Bruce's arm before moving down to Cassandra's shoulder.

She was truly the bat family's mom.
