Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Nobody's P.O.V

"Is it ready?" King asked.

"Yes sir." said one of the scientists. "Everything is ready."

"Excellent. Now turn it on."

"But sir, we have no test subjects to mutate."

"I am the test subject."

"But we've never mutated so many creatures into one form before-"

"You will do as I say or I'll throw you in with my soldiers. Turn on it on now."

"I...yes sir, sorry sir."

Everyone in the survivor camp gathered in one place, looking up at the stage King had set up a while ago. Most of the survivors were chatting amongst themselves while they waiting for the meeting to begin. Up on the stage, just a little out of view from the crowds, our group of retired warriors and their children stood to discuss the situation.

"It's nice to see you again, FC." Error said. "How have you been? You look like you've barely aged in these last nineteen years."

"Because I am the almighty!" FC joked. "I've been well. I must say, it's been difficult finding people willing to help me out with missions. I was lucky enough to find Fresh, Hate and Palette. They're fantastic."

Ink muttered something about Fresh, crossing his arms stubbornly.

FC smirked. "Someone's salty."

"I am not!"

"Don't worry, you're not the only one."

FC glanced at Geno, Reaper, Goth and Raven. Raven and Geno were practically hissing like cats at Palette whenever he came close to Goth. Reaper was finding the whole thing amusing, which was more then what could be said for Goth.

"So, now we have the problem of electing a new leader for this place." Dream said. "For reasons I cannot understand, everyone here has come to us to decide."

"Why?" FC asked.

"Because the majority of us have a brain the size of a walnut."

Everyone looked at Horror and Killer.

Killer huffed. "Why is everyone looking at us?"

"Just ignore them," Horror whispered. "They're jealous that they can't tell a vulture from a giant zombie chicken."

"OK, I see what you mean." FC crossed her arms. "But this narrows it down. I think the most likely candidates should be Dream, Error, Cross, Ink, Blueberry or Lust."

"I have to cook for everyone and train new cooks." Lust said.

"I'm no good as a leader and Ink's first order would be to throw Fresh in a ditch and bury him alive." Error added.

Fresh raised a bonebrow to PJ, who just shrugged.

Dream sighed. "Blueberry's in no condition to lead. He has suffered enough and he doesn't need the pressure of leading hundreds of people on top of that."

"Well that just leaves you and Cross." FC smiled. "Choosing between you two is going to be difficult."

"No need," Cross claimed. "We can lead together."

"Or we could go with that. An excellent idea, I think it's fantastic."

"Then it's settled. Dream and I will become the new leaders of the camp."

"Then go make your first announcement."

Cross nodded and took Dream's hand. The couple stood forward before the survivor camp's inhabitants. Everyone fell silent when they saw them approach.

"We have decided on a new leader." Cross announced. "Dream and I will take up leadership of the camp together."

The crowd cheered and thanked the creators that Horror and Killer were not chosen as the leaders.

"Wow, I thought we were friends." Horror muttered.

"It's OK," Killer said. "At least we know that we are smarter then the rest of them."

"Hell yeah."

"Thank you for your support," Dream continued. "We shall do everything in our power to ensure that everything goes back to the peaceful way it used to be. Better even."

"You're so formal," Hate commented. "Smile, dammit."

Cross and Dream both smirked at Hate's comment.

"Holy shit!" Hate exclaimed

"Well now that that's done," FC said. "I think it's about time to get a move on."

"FC, don't you think you've spent enough time wondering the wastelands?" Nightmare asked. "You should settle down somewhere. Maybe here with us."

"I'll admit, the thought has come to mind." FC thought for a moment. "Alright, sure. This place looks like it could use some help getting back on it's feet anyway."

"Fantastic." Cross smiled. "I think we should get started right away. We should start with-"

Cross was interrupted by a loud groan from the earth. The ground quaked and rumbled.

"What's going on?" Lust asked.

FC's two birds flew down from the sky and landed on her shoulders, they looked panicked.

"What's wrong?" FC asked.

"Giant monster!" squawked the colourful parrot. "Giant monster causing earth to break! Outside the wall! Ark!"

"Hang on, I'll go see." Ink said, dumping some paint onto the ground and disappearing into it.

Ink appeared on top of the great wall. He looked down and panic rose up inside him. A missive mutant made of metal and rock was breaking through the earth just outside of the wall. It was taller then the wall itself and it took the form of a familiar crocodile. The crocodile mutant's roar shook the very surface of the earth itself.
