We stayed for stew. It was warm and tasty. I spoon fed some to Danny. Afterwards they offered for us to stay with them. "My name is Meredith and this is my husband Jer." The woman introduced. "Jer watches for those creatures all night. You will be safe." I was reluctant but, Danny was already asleep by the fire. "We'll stay. Thank you." As she turned in. I went and layed by Danny. I would stay up all night. I stared into the fire. I sat in silence. I walked to the door and saw Jer sitting outside. Watching me. I walked back to Danny and pulled my knife out. I held it close and fell asleep.
